I had a glorious week with my sweet son over spring break.  I imagined that once he was home, he’d sneak out to spend some time with friends, but that didn’t happen.  He stuck with me the entire time and it was nothing short of a fabulous gift for me.  I was so thankful for someone to talk to and of my children, he and I are personality twins.  He’s a straight shooter so I spent most of the week with him breaking some honest observation to me. All good, all good.  Now you might understand why I didn’t dare break away to upload some of the things I had ready, lol.  Here’s a card I made a bit ago – don’t even ask me what I was thinking –  I wanted bows and it got a little bit out of hand; once I started tying, they seemed to multiply, lol!!

The base of the card is made using a Martha Stewart punch that I punched nine times in a square grid layout.  I tied a bow in the center of each grid with a larger bow at the top.  I used a sentiment from an Our Daily Bread Designs set called Sweet Friendship.  It’s hung on a tag cut with Spellbinders™ Lacey Ovals and Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM.   I also made a box to match the card using the same Martha Stewart punch.  Goodness, it was much easier than I thought, so I’ll put the box on my Tutorial To Do list.

My card is 6″ x 6″ and all bows are made on the Peg Bow Maker, ranging from 1″ to 3″.  Here’s a view of the box with the ribbon removed – inside I have a Prima Rose backed with a fluffy bow to be used as a corsage.  The box is a 2″ cube cut out on all sides including the lid.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Sweet Friendship
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Cream 80lb Cover, Coredinations
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Pink Pastel
Accessories: Martha Stewart Punch – , Spellbinders™ Lacey Ovals and Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM,  Recollections Pearls, Seam Binding, Prima Rose

I missed you guys!! Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!!  Don’t forget to Spring Ahead!!

Love all of the bows! This is a beautiful project and that box would be a fabulous give to give to your mother for Mother’s Day (hint, hint). I am so happy you had time with your son. I am in the same situation where my son lives far away and travels a lot so I rarely get to see him … he is so independent that he can’t understand why his mommy misses him! LOL! I wish you could do a workshop at some of the stamp/scrapbook shows so more of us could meet you in person. Looking forward to your next project … Love & Hugs!ReplyCancel

It is a beautiful thing to spend quality time with each of your children on their own, I totaly agree with you. I was just thinking about one of my sons last night, he just popped into my head and I remember so well when he was only about 2 years old and he loved nothing better than to come up on my knee and have a story read to him and then at the end of the story he always gave me the most wonderful cuddle..last night thinking about him I could actually feel that cuddle…to this day we have always had a very loving and caring affinity with each other.

    Hi Becca,
Your card and box are ‘bow-tiful’. A very clever way to use lots of bows and at the same time produce something beautiful but different. It has the feel of a Pagoda, with all the trellis roses creeping through the open weaves. Just lovely.
I am so glad you have had such a close time with your son, we have to grab onto every minute they offer us don’t we?! They grow so fast and have so little time for us as they do; their lives become so busy with other things. My own son is home for two weeks at the end of March and I am so looking forward to it; I have only seen him once in nearly three months.
Have a wonderful week. All the best LindaReplyCancel

Hi there blog friends!  I have a new card to share, but thought I’d keep the post short and sweet since I have family visiting.  Since I spent a bit of time cataloging my embossing folders, I was inspired by all that luscious texture and wanted to capture it in a card.  I thought the embossing was so exquisite that I decided to stick to one color so that the embossing would take center stage.  Imagine that, making a paper choice within a couple of minutes – are you with me?  My card is 5.5″ tall by 7.5″ wide.  I started out by cutting the scallop bottom using Spellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities.  I then cut three 2.25″ strips, trimmed them to points, embossed each using Spellbinders™ Elegance M-Bossabilities (Side B), placed small pearls on each flower motif then attached the strips to my card. Once I could see where each of my points would fall I could gauge where to put my sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs – Flourished Verses set.  Spellbinders™ Bitty Blossoms grace the bottom of each strip right above their point.  I let my satin ribbon and eyelet lace span the top of the card and perched the triple bow made with the Peg Bow Maker on top of Spellbinders™ Picot Edged Circles before attaching to the card.

This is an easy format card with a dressy look, that can be changed up for Wedding, Christening, Anniversary, New Baby, Easter . . . I can think of many so more.  Imagine just putting some soft color in on the embossed flowers and echoing that soft color in the ribbon!   No matter the occasion, it’s a great way to show off some embossing, so this one goes into my card file for when I need a quick card – I hope I’ve given you an idea to tuck away for a rainy day :-)

SUPPLIES I USED

I love white on white cards!! No matter how simple they’re made they are always so elegant!!! I, also, find them the most challenging because to keep VERY clean throughout the making can be quite hard to do; but the results are always so stunning.ReplyCancel

Such an elegant card you have created Becca. I think this would make a lovely wedding card. Love the texture that the embossing has made. This is so soft and feminine and mono chromatic color scheme is the way to go at times. So glad you are enjoying time with your sweet son. As always Becca, TFS!!! :-DReplyCancel

Hi there sweet blog friends!  I have something to show you that I was working on last week and the week before.  I’m tickled if I must say so myself – it’s been on my mind for a long time and I finally sat down and did it.  Come have a look see – it’s worth a moment of your time!!

So . . . I strongly believe that if you can see it, you’ll use it.  Even though the packaging is smashing, the beauty of both Spellbinders™ Edgeabilities® and Spellbinders™ M-Bossabilities™ are absolutely magical when you take them out of the package and run them through the machine!!  I’m a very visual person and find it difficult to work from a two dimensional picture.  Voila, once things are out of the box, actual size, real dimension, touchable – they click in my mind.  I’ve had this ATC Holder for more than a year (I have two of them) and finally decided that I need to put them within an arms reach with items I’d like to see on a daily basis.  In this case I embossed all my embossing folders and cut all my edgeabilities.  That way I’ll be able to audition them by pulling each element from the ATC holder and holding them together.  So here’s what I did.

I created labels and embossed each embossing folder, putting a label on the inside edge so that I could quickly identify which folder.
I grouped them in alphabetical order (so that I’ll be able to locate them quickly by name if needed) and filed them away in the ATC Holder.
Then I cut all the Classic Edges Spellbinders Edgeabilities and placed them in the ATC holder together, inserting a black divider to separate each area.
So now I can pull select cards from the file and layer them together to see if they work.  I’m always intrigued by the cut out’s and how they look in different situations and with different colors.  With this entire mix and match system I can now compose with the decorative inserts, classic edges and texture all at the same time.  Like I said . . . if you can see it, you will use it!!

Here are the simple supplies I used – The 7 Gypsies ATC Card Holder, 7 Gypsies ATC Card Punch, 7 Gypsies ATC Blank Cards 7 Gypsies ATC Blank Tabs, Stampin Up Word Punch and the my assortment of embossing folders and Spellbinders Edgeabilities.  As time permits, I’m going back to add all my border punches – then I’ll be all set!!   I don’t have links but if you google, you should be able to find any of the 7 Gypsies items on the internet!

In the meantime . . . I’m checking this off my list!!  See you soon!!

My first reaction was excitement to see so many embossings in white/off white in one place. I’m working on creating white on white cards so I was just oozing with inspiration. Then I read more and ralized how awesome your idea is. I m with Sallie-I have various samples in noteooks. Love this organization and display. First it’s the Peg Bow Maker, now its the spindle display, what will be next? Can’t wait.ReplyCancel

I have a tiny space where I do my “creating”- on top of my washer & dryer!
(Very little space to set things down like the 7 gypsies card holder.)There are two cabinets just above this. I have put adhesive-backed magnetic strips on the backs of all four doors upon which I have mounted my Spellbinders- labeled by sets. On the cabinet handle hangs a key
chain that holds a 3×5″ set of cards which I have embossed and labeled
from my embossing folders. I can see it all right where I have my cuttlebug, etc.

    Becca,
For the longest time I have been trying to figure out how I could create something with samples of all the embossing plates that I have and then file the plates in alphabetical order in a box out of the way. I just happen to have a 7 Gypsies Photo Carousel and an ATC Card Holder with extra cards, etc., that I never got around to using so I’m already set…..

What a wonderful idea and this is not the first time I have found a good idea from your ideas. I already fixed a book of all my punches like you did long ago and love it but I will be transferring all my border punches and Spellbinders border dies to this system as those are the most used ones and best to have a sample that is removable for trying on for size and leave those 15 year old punches in the book for a rainy day!!!

I wonder how many ATC card holders will be taken apart now!!!

Thanks so much for the great idea.ReplyCancel

  • Pat KinserMarch 3, 2012 - 10:21 pm

This is really great Becca and looks awesome. i´ve never seen anything here like this holder, so I´ve done a simular system just in a rectangualr box with dividers between them too, and that works pretty well too, as I totally agree, it´s much easier, when you can visualize things. I must be visual too Becca…I have samples of my border punches already and it surely does make a difference. I can’t tell from the SB dies what the cutout is gonna look like so I’m trying to cut samples of the various sets in at least lightweight cardstock so I can pull them out, see exactly what they’ll look like, and with the flourishes actually try and choose between them on the card itsself. I always look forward to your organizational ideas.ReplyCancel

I think this is brilliant. Unfortunately I have a very small space so this isn’t practical for me. My solution is to have samples of everything, stamps, punches, dies, embossing folders, etc in photo albums. Not out in the open but I can easily pull out a sample and I find as I flip thru my albums it refreshes my memory of what I do have and I am using things more then I once did.

Amazing! I decided I needed to have a way to see my embossing possibilities and spent time doing SOME of them and putting them into sleeves for a 3-ring notebook. I have lots more to go, but it’s a start, and it was such fun to recall what I HAD to use! Now your idea is wonderful. I too have had the ATC holder sitting somewhere in my craft room for several years with no idea what I was going to use it for. Now I think I’ll redo my embossing and edge items and put it to use. Thanks for the great idea!ReplyCancel

What a wonderful idea. I can see lots of uses! I have just spent a hour looking for a rotary card punch, even just the holes. With out success. I would have thought this would be a item all paper craft punch manufactures would carry like ek sucuss, creative memories, spellbinders, CTMH, stamped up etc. they must be out there, I know I can make one with my pazzles, but a punch would be much nicer for me. Grace this is simply beautiful.ReplyCancel

Becca………happy daylight savings day !!! What an awesome card…all the bows are gorgeous. Only you would have thought to use those MS punches to make that grid pattern. I’ll have to look at them in an entirely different way now. Reminds me of a stained glass window.

Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your talent with all of us out here in blog land !!!ReplyCancel

Is it rude to say that I am completely jealous of how your brain works? Heeeee! This is a wonderful idea, and looks pretty to boot! How’d ya go and even make an organizational system looks so beautifu??!!! Love that you embossed and cut them on such cheery yellow cardstock!! Thanks SO much for sharing this idea, Becca!ReplyCancel

I don’t know where you come up with your ideas. I went right out and bought 2 of the card holders. 1 for embossing folders and 1 for border dies/punches. Now I am busily trying to decide how to decorate my dividers. Thank you for the wonderful “out of the box” idea.ReplyCancel

What a brilliant idea Becca. I’m not sure we have a holder like that here in the UK, but will get about searching for one or something similar!

Many thanks to you for your fabulous blog.

I have the stand, but have been looking on the internet for two days looking for the plain tags…with the notches…or the punch to cut the notches-discontinued, and can’t find anything. Do you have a source? Today, frustration is my name. I love the idea and you’re right…when you see it you use it. I can make my own tags, but the notches are the problem. Do you have any ideas on how to cut them? It’s a great idea if I can just impliment it. Many Thanks.ReplyCancel
