Sweet blog friends, Happy Monday to you!! I wanted to make something on the feminine side so I flipped through die templates laying on the table and came up with this combination. I mentioned that Spellbinders™ Romantic Rectangles was at the top of my list and was my starting point on this card. I added an element from Spellbinders™ Antique Frame, Accents, Spellbinders™ Damask Accents and Spellbinders™ Persian Accents. For the underlayer I used Spellbinders™ Classic Edges One paired with Spellbinders™ Classic Decorative Inserts Two and cut it up so that it would fit around the edges
.

Hanging from the bow, I suspended a Happy Birthday sentiment from Our Daily Bread Design – Special Blend.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Special Blend
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Cream 80 lb Cover, Bazzill
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Pastel Pink
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Romantic Rectangles,  Spellbinders™ Antique Frame, AccentsSpellbinders™ Damask Accents, Spellbinders™ Persian Accents, Spellbinders™ Classic Edges One,

Crafty smooches!!  Oh, don’t forget I have blog candy going on for Prima Printery and Romantique paper – here’s the link if you want to participate – https://www.amazingpapergrace.com/goodbye-dear-old-friend/

ODBD Friendship Card
Hi there blog friends!!  Don’t feel sorry for me about having to change computers . . . today I’m cooking with gas on the front burner (lol, I don’t know if that’s southern slang or not but it’s sure how I feel today)!!  I had my camera editing software, eight different hi-res pictures and Photoshop open at the same time.  Woohoo!!  Picture editing took all of 8 minutes instead of  the normal 40.  I don’t know why I resisted so long but at some point after jumping off the high dive, you’re over the fear and the water’s nice and and oh so warm.  It’s funny how much a lot of things in life are this way!

Today I need a quick friendship card to send off a gift and this one fits the bill.  To make my paper lace, I used Spellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities and Spellbinders™ Classic Decorative Inserts One.  To make it work like free standing lace I simply made a mirror image by cutting all three templates at once on one side and then repeating on the other side.  I played around with this a bit and found if I used lightweight paper and did not emboss, that I could fold my paper in half to get the same result.    The small sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs is called Special Blend and is set on the small tag from Spellbinders ™ Office Supplies.

Embellished with pearls and a Tail Up/Tail Down bow using the Peg Bow Maker, this one weighs in with just one additional layer – can you believe it?

SUPPLIES I USED

Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Deep Lagoon

Have a glorious Sunday friends!  I’ll see you soon!!

This card is gorgeous!!! I really need to practice this border punching technique. I have a hard time getting them even. So glad you are loving your new computer. It does feel like you are leaving an old friend behind. I still have a lot of things on my old one and keep it close by, just in case. Too bad an external hard drive is such a pain to use. It would be great to have everything there, so changing computers isn’t such a nightmare. LOLReplyCancel

This is great. I keep using the word elegant when referring to your designs but that’s because they are. The paper lace is lovely; thank you for showing us how to do it. You are just so creative Becca.ReplyCancel

    Good Morning Becca
What a simple yet elegant card!
I would LOVE TO KNOW where you buy the gorgeous RIBBON that you use.
If you have an online supplier it would sure make my life easier, cause searching for it store by store, then finding it costs $3.00 per yard which barely makes one of your fancy bows, well it is stressing me out ;-)
When it comes to the new releases…love all the new dies by all the different makers.
    Hugs & Smiles

Great card… I love black and white and I love that bow… I’ll have to go back thru your tutorials because I don’t remember it!. I made my own bow maker per your tutorial some time ago and made two others for friends. I hope I won’t be missing out on any bows by not getting the CD that comes along with your new product. Through the wonder of the computer, I feel personally invested in your success with this new venture. I was lucky enough to meet Kelley Holland and her hubby this past weekend at the Lawrenceville, GA show. I have to echo what you have indicated so many times… friendly, open, lovely people.ReplyCancel

  • Pat JandacekFebruary 5, 2012 - 6:12 pm

Gorgeous card, as always, Becca! I had to respond about the cooking with gas. I was raised in Western New York State and that was an expression we used, except I never remember hearing ‘on the front burner’ which is even “more so!” I’m 72 yrs old now. I always supposed it was a remark handed down by those who upgraded from woodburning stoves to natural or propane gas when it became available. (My grandma still used a wood stove for cooking and baking until I was in my teens.) My hubby’s been trying to get me to buy a new computer for the last couple of years and I say “NO! I don’t want that learning curve.” Maybe I’ll surprise him the next time it comes up…mine is giving me fits. (He has a Mac that he loves.)ReplyCancel

An elegant card. I always laugh when you say “I need a quick card today”. I would take ages to think of doing something and still be far away from the results you produce. Inspired by your blog yesterday I went thru my stash and dug out things that a) I really like, b) have been saving for a special occasion or c) that as yet was unprepared to let go of! I have made a deal with my sister in the UK and she and I will encourage each other to use these “special” things in our projects. To ease the pain we will start by sending each other a card using some of our bits and bobs – worse case scenario we keep them in the family! Are we the only Weird ones?ReplyCancel

Hi there blog friends!!  First of all thanks for your feedback on the event I want to put together.  I think some one has already coined it the No Challenge Challenge (ha -ha).  I’m working on some inspiration for this to see if I can make it fly and you all have given me some great ideas.

Not sure where the day went, but I spent mine putting an old dying computer to bed.  I’ve been working on an ailing laptop for months now and couldn’t find the time to transfer things.  I guess we never realize how much stuff we collect on our computers and how we just can’t do without them.  I’m almost done with getting the email all transferred over and have to find a couple of CD’s but just to give you an idea – the desktop I’m moving from I purchased in 2003 and the laptop (whose screen died) I got in 2006.  It’s a little bit like letting go of your blankey – I know where everything is and this means I’ll have to say goodbye forever to Windows XP.   I don’t think I’ve been more frugal with anything in my life.  I have fixed and fixed until they can’t be fixed any more.  On the bright side – no more waiting 5 minutes for each picture to come up so that I could edit it in Photoshop.   That’s just a little window into my day – hope yours was fabulous.

. . . . about the Blog Candy
I did take time to package up the winnings for the last blog candy winners so that it can fly out of here on Monday.  So, it only seemed right to keep on with the the quest to share out this paper to someone who can and will use it!  I’m giving away another set of both Prima Romantique and Prima Printery.  Leave a comment letting me know what made it to the top of your new CHA releases list (no links please).  Was it the new Spellbinders?  Which one?  The comments open today and will close some time on Thursday , February 9th – that gives you up to six times enable someone (mischievous grin).

Thanks for stopping by today!  Ill be back tomorrow, I’m sure.  Crafty smooches!!

    Hi Becca,
Sounds like you have been a very busy girl today, I hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction asap. I have been sorting my bead boxes today which I thought would only be an couple of hours and it took all evening. You are right when you say, where did the day go?
If I had to choose top spots for products I really want from the new CHA releases it would have to be 5 things sorry:- Spellbinders Moroccan & Persian Motifs/Accents and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Markers. I must be honest with you though Becca, I seem to fall in love with something new everytime I look at the new releases.
Well have a good day today, whatever you are up to. I’m off to bed now as its 2am. Nite Nite. Hugs LindaReplyCancel

My XP died a while ago, and I SO miss it! Win7 is too techy for me, and none of my XP software is compatible….sigh. Good luck with the change!
I saw a cool little tool that cuts thin strips of paper with ease, and I’d love to have a closer look, as I love to make herringbone backgrounds with strips of paper! I’m also intrigued with the distress markers as well as the Spellbinders that fold over themselves! So many cool items, such a small wallet! LOLReplyCancel

  • Katherine LawsonFebruary 3, 2012 - 8:16 pm

I know the feeling about the old computer. Everything is right where you need it, and it’s so familiar, but oh so slow. I still miss Windows XP.

What was our favorite new release? That’s a hard one! There were so many. Was it some of the new Just Rite stamps?

Or would I decide to say it’s between the Moroccan, Persian and Damask Motifs and Accents from Spellbinders???? I think I’ll choose the Spellbinders, but I could never decide which one of the three sets. I NEED them all!

I guess I chose the Spellbinders because they are so versatile. I’ve got a lot of stamps, (and a lot of Spellbinders), but there is something about those lacy dies that I love!ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
I recently had to up date my computers…both of them, so I totally understand what you are going through. I did loose most of my stuff on the desk top as it seriously crashed and I wouldn’t pay to have info transferred But you know what, I lived without it. I have not taken to making hard copies of important stuff, and so I seem to be copying things all the time. I am enchanted with the new Spellbinder dies. Especially the Floral Burst. I love the look of folded back parts creating a two tone image. I have cut them in the past with an Xacto knife. Not fun, for sure. So I’m looking forward to that one, as well as some others.
Thanks for all you do for us.

I love almost all the new Spellbinders but I am especially anxious to try out the new Tim Holtz Distress markers to see how they work and if they are better than my current markers. I don’t have many Copic’s since you need a lot of them and a commitment to learning how to use them properly. Thanks for all the beautiful cards and projects you share. You and your blog are awesome! top of my list is the new Tim Holtz and Sizzix eClipse paper cutter that cuts out his stamps. I am sure that other companies will be given the opportunity later so I will probably wait and save up my money to get it. My more short term has to be the Spellbinders flowers. I am going to try and make most of mine this year…gotta save up for the eclipse! VickieReplyCancel

Sorry to hear about your computer, and know exactly how you feel, I lost mine to Hurricane power surcharge in September and I am still finding and remembering things I lost as I had not done a recent back up!!! I accumulated so much over the years, and the pictures I lost of my deceased Mom and brother in law, but lesson learned, I now have an external back up and am also going to get an UN interrupted power supply soon, so I have time or the computer does to shut down in these situations.

Good luck with your new computer!! It will take time to get used to new OS, I am still figuring out windows 7, I Loved XP and was so used to it..

But it is nice to again be up and running. As for the CHA products that I just couldn’t live without. . . . . . . Spellbinders, Spellbinders, and more Spellbinders. Everything else has been sent to the back burner until next month. Tim Holtz has several new products that I want. Those are next along with the newest G 45 paper collections. How about you? Hi Becca, I must admit, it´s totally impossible to choose just one favorit from CHA, but I can choose the brand, and that´s definitely Speelbinders, but there´s also soo many gorgeous papers comming out, and I´m sooooooooooo loving all beautioful papers too he he. If I just could make myself to cut in them, but some of those I have got, I really don´t dare to cut, if I can´t find them again LOL. here where I live, we don´t have acces to much of all these wonders you have over there, and it´s so expensive to have it mailed here, so I only use these for really special projects.SIGH.
That´s also a reason, why I hope to be lucky enough to win some ofd these beauties some day LOL.
Have a great week-end hun and hopefully no more computerproblems, which is a real pain. I´ve just had mine reformatted too, because it kept on making troubles all the time. Funny they can really drive us nuts some times, but we can´t live without them either ha ha ha. Hope yours is solved now.ReplyCancel

The new Spellbinders definitely made it to my list! Totally understand your computer problems. I’m adjusting to a new one but I didn’t have an opportunity to transfer anything. Mine crashed with very little warning! I lost many files and have been busy trying to recreate. Good luck!ReplyCancel

  • Jody HammondFebruary 4, 2012 - 4:55 am

Yes, I think some of the new Spellbinders were so cute. Liked the dress form one. There were a couple of new dies from Tim Holtz that caught my eye as well so we’ll have to see who comes in first, lol!!! Good Luck with your new computer! I’m hunting a new car, man is that a job! Will be really glad when it’s a done deal!ReplyCancel

Love the paper and the chance to win some of it! So many new items from the CHA event, what do you choose?? I did see some new markers that looked interesting, I always love the spellbinders items….I really should save up to get a few things! I have to budget my craft items very wisely so I usually only get something that I truly need and do not have already or a another way to do it. I have to be a thrifty crafter and I reuse and recycle lots of things, you would not belive some of the things that go into my craft projects, but I also feel it makes me more creative that way too! ~gin~ReplyCancel

  • Caryn S.February 4, 2012 - 6:39 am

Wow Becca now this is a challenge! There was so much to love from CHA this go round. Well, I think all of the spellbinders are fantastic, particularly the Moroccan and the Persian sets, the cut and fold dies and the tea set were just lovely. I also really am excited over the TH distress ink pens, how much fun could be had with those? Graphic 45’s new paper sets, Pink Paislee’s and Basic Grey’s also. The quilling tools, I’m really wanting to dip into that technique. Someone here mentioned ODB, I’ve never seen anything that they have released that I didn’t immediately fall in love with. There’s so much more that just isn’t coming to mind right now.

And now I am drooling over the beautiful Prima kits that you have posted as blog candy!ReplyCancel

It is always exciting to win something, so thanks for another opportunity. You are so sweet to share with us. Glad to hear you are nearing the end of clearing out your old computers. It always feels good to finish any time- consuming job. It is almost like a breath of fresh air when you finish! Enjoy that feeling, before you know it you will be knee deep in “aligators” again- LOL! (At least that is how it works in my life.) Of course, usually I learn a lot from those “aligators”! May you have a blessed weekend.ReplyCancel

    Becca,
I know just how that is. I also lost my computer but it died without warning. I tried to get it fixed but could not so I lost everything on it.
I have a laptop now & had to learn all over again. Also during that time I lost my email so I lost alot of my friends email address. Had to get a new address & slowly finding the other email address I lost. Praying for you that it will be easy to put everything together on your new computer.

Good grief, Becca. it isn’t even 9:30 on a Saturday morning and already you have over 120 comments! Well, not to be outdone, I will tell you that I’ve been waiting for those new Spellbinders dies. I have a limited income, so I try to pick something that appeals to me on many levels and can be used in many ways. Last year it was Ironworks Motifs & Accents, this year it is Moroccan Motifs & Accents. I was shocked to find it already on the shelf at my local Michael’s last night! I bought the Accents with my 40% off coupon and plan to go back today to get the Motifs with another coupon. Next week I will be back because they also had the Ironworks Accents which I haven’t been able to find all year… where do these things go? All in all, my Spellbinder’s dreams are coming true and winning your “candy” would just be the cherry on top of the banana split! Sugar-free, of course!ReplyCancel

Becca, Thanks to you (really, no sarcasm intended) I now need this butterfly. Absolutely gorgeous! I also have lots of butterfly stuff, and sometimes I feel that this is “immature” – I’m not sure where that comes from – except that butterflies were big when I was a teen a long time ago! The Spellbinder crosses are also exquisite and I don’t have any of those yet, so that should probably be my next purchase. Hugs to you!ReplyCancel

I’m so sorry for your loss of XP. It was one of the best operating systems MS ever released. I was so sad when I lost my last desktop to a rootkit virus and it couldn’t be saved.

I love the paper in the pictures you displayed this morning. I think I must have missed the day you posted them (either that or I’m terribly confused…wouldn’t be the first time). I’m getting over a horrible virus we’ve got going around here, and I was stuck in bed for a few days. (You snooze you lose? I was definitely snoozing….codeine cough syrup nearly puts me in a coma!)

Anyway, best of luck with your next computer. Having worked in IT for 10 years, I can tell you, there’s a lot of luck involved when it comes to computers.

I have to assume that you managed to buy another one, knowing that yours were ‘on the blink’ & you didn’t lose any of your valuable data with the ‘violent death’ of your PC. That one ain’t nice! While I LOVE the new Spellbinders, I am more intrigued by the Sizzix Pop and Cuts that make doing a pop-up card easier. I really want to take my cards to that ‘ultimate’ level when it comes to 3D.
Know what you mean about your computer, I am going through the same process. I’ll be very glad when it’s done. Hang in there, Becca. You’ll be so thankful when you’re all done and can move on to something else.ReplyCancel

A new computer is so exciting. I upgraded last fall and have Windows 7 now. I still have things on my XP that I have not brought over to my new one. The program I use for making tea bag tiles does not play with Windows 7, so I will keep my old computer just for that purpose. I do not want to learn a new way at this point.
All things Spellbinder are on my list of must haves and wants.ReplyCancel

Mine is so slow any more I can brew a pot of tea while I wait for something to load up, it’s crazy how we hold on. Thanks for sharing and inspiring. Now I need to get to the doing. Think like most others I’d have to say anything by Spellbinders – have only just gotten into these and really can’t get enough of them, but can’t afford to buy any :(, But also watched the vid with Tim Holtz and fallen in love with his new distress markers as the concept is new to me in every sense, so lots there to learn about for playing with :).

And finally any paper as I’m a paper addict LOL!

On computer things – I’m a geek with them, absolutely love everything PC orientated & LOVE, LOVE Win 7. Streets ahead of XP (which I still have as a backup), & provides me with a very stable and fast system, plus has plenty of tweaks, gadgets & other things like the ability to have a fluid dynamic desktop appeal to my childish side lol :). Enjoy!!ReplyCancel

I drooled over the die that you based today’s pink feminine Birthday card on…but my favorite was, of course, the largest one. It’s to big for the size card that I make most of the time! That was a problem with another of the die sets I liked. OWH prefers that most of their cards be A2 since that’s what fits the best in the boxes, and what they have envelopes for. Still lots of goodies from Spellbinders to drool over!

Thank you again Becca for your generosity! I’ve been seeing these new background stamps from Hero Arts/Studio Calico… they look awesome! I also love the new spellbinders dies with sewing items (can’t remember the name of the set, even though I just saw it).ReplyCancel

It must be exciting to go to CHA and see all the new stuff in person but I would be crying that I couldn’t bring it all home with me so it’s probably wise I can’t go. lol
I am so fascinated with the cool tools in the videos taken at the show. The MS board looks amazing, the Inkadinkado stamp wheel and the papers and embellishments are awesome enough to make a person dizzy.ReplyCancel

Still love all my spellbinders best.
