. . . oh goodness, I know I’ve been quiet today.  Believe it or not, I was working on another top secret project around here.  Lol, you all are going to have to get a security clearance to come and have a look with all this top secret stuff going on.  Doesn’t that drive you crazy?  You know I love you all!!  Where else can I come and talk about such exciting stuff.   I have a post coming at the end of the week that’ll have you silently nodding and saying ‘uh huh, that makes sense”.   In the meantime, I wanted to toss this little tidbit out there, because you all always let me bask a bit in the warmth of accomplishment! :-)

This is a publication that is now available on the market and I had an ensemble published in there.  It might be harder this time around to figure out which is me . . . but then again, I might just be underestimating your ever so keen, and knowing, eyes!!  Here’s a link to it – Quick and Easy Crafts for Entertaining.

The book actually became available late December, but this is the first time I’ve had a chance to look through.  Some great designers have things here and the projects are all quick and easy (you all have no idea how hard that can be sometimes – ha-ha!!)

I should be back with a project tomorrow but don’t forget the blog candy I currently have going on.  Again, up for grabs, some luscious double sided Prima paper – simply pop over to this post – https://www.amazingpapergrace.com/the-best-of-both-blog-candy/.

Hi there blog friends!  Hoping your Sunday is a glorious one.  I’ve gone a little bit bold today . . .  for a bold friend.  Someone close to me is having a birthday, one of my girlfriends, who is just a hoot!  So I changed up a little bit to go with some power colors for a birthday card for her.    As it were, working with some of the new Spellbinders, this Damask keeps floating to the top – it was designed by my sweet friend Laura Campbell, and I just love it.  I paired it up with a new sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs called Birthday Blessings.

I took one of the damask die templates (Spellbinders™ S5-081 Damask Motifs), cut it four times and assembled it into a medallion.  On top of that I popped up Spellbinders™ Picot Edged Circles and Spellbinders™ Standard Circles SM.  On the edge I used some lace, Spellbinders™ E8-007 Classic Edges, Spellbinders™ Classic Bracket Edgeablities and Spellbinders™ E-010 Classic Decorative Inserts, topping it off with the border from Spellbinders™ S5-080 Damask Accents set.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs, Birthday Blessings.
Paper: The Paper Company, Neenah Classic Crest Cream
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Spellbinders™ S5-081 Damask Motifs,  Spellbinders™ Picot Edged Circles, Spellbinders™ Standard Circles SM,  Spellbinders™ E8-007 Classic Edges, Spellbinders™ Classic Bracket Edgeablities, Spellbinders™ E-010 Classic Decorative Inserts, Spellbinders™ S5-080 Damask Accents, seam binding, clear embossing powder, lace

That’s it for me today, short and sweet!  Don’t forget to weigh in on the blog candy I currently have going on.  Up for grabs, some luscious double sided Prima paper – simply pop over to this post – https://www.amazingpapergrace.com/the-best-of-both-blog-candy/. Smooches, y’all!  I’ll see you soon!!

Hi there blog friends!!  I’m buried in the studio working on a project.  I have to say that CHA prep often brings out the night stalker in me and I end up getting up in the middle of the night to work – that’s until it all ends in a crescendo, from exhaustion.  I’m about there :-)  Until I get my schedule back to normal (normal for me that is), I end up getting up and laying down at odd times – thus the really, really odd times with my posts.    While I’m working I thought I would go ahead and give away some of that fabulous Prima Printery and Prima Romantique paper – yep, this time I’ll take two winners – one who will receive Printery and one will receive Romantique.

Leave a comment letting me know about something crafty you have not tried, that you’d like to try or if you’ve tried it, maybe it’s something you want to do more of.  Maybe it’s a technique, maybe it’s a product you’d like to use or perhaps it’s something that has a steep learning curve.  Here, I’ll give you an idea – I’ve always wanted to learn stained glass and make glass beads.  I have it on my list to do a clear tape transfer technique.  See, that was easy!!  The comments open today and will close some time on Friday, January 27th – that gives you up to six times to share your crafty dreams :-)

Smooches, thanks for stopping by today!!

    Hi Becca
has to be parchment and vellum work. I did a little and kept ripping the paper. It looks so elegant. I would like to do the cutting away sections too. The work when finished is good enough to frame. To finish the work a bit of calligraphy to finish off with a beautiful sentiment. Never been able to write nicely. Think it would be better than a stamp.
Then there is pottery ,I would like to do a an introduction course, just to see if I like it. Have looked at Manor House in Devon England but never got there.

Hmmm…. of all the things I’ve tried and made, of all the crafty journeys … the thing that eludes me most is that I want to try to make … MORE TIME. Oh my, is there a recipe somewhere? I’ve tried making myself more efficient, I’ve tried making myself more organized, I’ve tried carving (out more time) … If you could point me in the direction of some tutorials to make some more TIME, I would be forever grateful. I’m already REALLY good at spending (money and TIME) and I do know it’s illegal to actually produce money (as in counterfeiting) … but I’d also like to have some tutorials on how to make money (as in EARN) money from doing the thing I like to do best, and that is papercraft. As far as other crafts, I’m a doer of many and a master of none … beading, stained glass, leatherworking, woodworking, mixed media, painting … but the thing I like most to do is papercraft. THANK YOU for asking … and if you can, please provide a BECCA tutorial on MAKING TIME!! :o) Love, the monkey.ReplyCancel

I want to learn how to use copic markers. I always think those cards that have copic colored pictures on it are sooo pretty. I have been buying a marker here or there all last year and now I have about 100 and have been afraid to try them, but I want to!ReplyCancel

My biggest hope to try this year is polymer clay, I have the product, but not the space to do it in. I have got to get my basement together first. Then on to the project. Years ago I did bread dough ornaments and sold them, sad to say I don’t have any left for myself. Thanks for all you share with us.

    Hugs and God Bless,

I would like to give myself permission to “play” with my papercrafting tools (paper, ink, and actual “tools”). My brain tells me to be careful to not use them up, but my tools sure aren’t doing any fun in their well organized locations. I don’t so much want to do calligraphy but to work with letters and lettering. Finally, my next creation is going to be white on white, using shape and texture to create interest instead of the emphasis on color. I love white on white quilting so this will be a fun undertaking.ReplyCancel

What fun to enter on this my birthday! If I were to try a new technique, it would be using my dies for stenciling or shading colors on my cards. I have pretty much stayed with layers of paper, which I truly enjoy. Therefore, die-cutting and shading colors before lifting the die would be a next logical & fun step. The two paper groups shown today are absolutely beautiful and would definitely inspire me to try new things. Thanks for the opportunity to enter!ReplyCancel

At my age I have tried nearly every craft out there so I really don’t have any crafts I want to try. Currently I am re-visiting some hobbies I did in the past . I did calligraphy at least 25 years ago. I dug out my nibs ( I had to replace them they got rusty) bought some ink and I am re- learning it . Yes I need to re-learn it as I have forgotten most that I knew. Like most things it is just a matter of practice to get it right. I am also back to making Temari which is another hobby I have not done in more than 10 years. For those who have never heard of Temari it is a Japanese craft of embroidery on balls I may also dig out my parchment craft tools and re-visit that too. My craft supply closet is like an archeological dig. I never know what treasures I will find in there LOLReplyCancel

Wow, what a coincidence! Just today I told myself that I’d try the bleaching technique while cardmaking with the girls on Sunday. I love the affect and versatility of this technique, but never think to actually sit down to DO it – until now! A bunch of us get together each month, rotating the event between homes. We call ourselves the Seven Stampers Stamping LOL There’s NOTHING that revives the soul (and creativity) than some fun girl-time! My friend sent me your link and I immediately signed up. I love getting your beautiful work on a daily basis. It is real inspiration to get busy. You have inspired me to buy more spellbinders and I have discovered it is quite easy to make an elegant card with them-as long as you have some great paper and embellishments. Your travel card inspired me to make one similar. It turned out great. Thanks for being here. I am learning to make more of my own embellishments using old watch faces and jewelry settings. I would like to learn how to do parchment craft better—(same as prgamano which is actually a brand name for tools.) I have tried for several years on my own but can only get so far as I need a teacher for
actually seeing how to do it the right way. Its not well known in America but there are loads of teachers in the UK. If anyone knows of a teacher in Utah especially Salt Lake area I would sure like to know about them.
I was interested to see there were 4 or 5 people postiing here that are
interested in it. I would lke to ‘meet’ anyone that is.

I too am like Bettie, getting older and feel like time is fleeting and I don’t have enough years left to learn and play with all the crafts that I want to.

Hi Becca, I have made some stainglass pieces and it was a wonderful experience. I love learning new things but I really need to work on the technique’s of putting together a beautiful vintage card. It seems to come to you very naturally but for me it is very difficult. Caligraphy…. if that counts as something crafty? Funny your card today should be on the theme of travel because whenever I go on holiday I write a travel journal. It gives me hours of fund and feeds by crafting because I get to make a new journal each time I go. BUT my handwriting is awful ( well I think so) and I’d love to be able to write in a beautiful flowing script in my journals and in all those lovely cards I get to make.

As always I adore your blog and loved the new style of card today…. you never cease to amaze me and my daily visits to your blog are such a pleasure. Thank you for your shared inspiration. Carol. xxReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
Wow, thank you for this double candy offer, both sets of paper look gorgeous and I would feel very priviledged to win either.
I have been blessed with the knack for craft in various forms over the years: crochet, knitting, cardmaking & papercraft, jewellery making to name a few, but one thing I haven’t mastered is Scrapbooking. I would love to be able to learn the fundementals of good scrapping, especially good journalling and composition. My friends think it daft that my cards are so well composed yet I am frightened to attempt scrapbooking. So my next adventure has to be into that; when I can find the time that is.
Hope life is being good to you.

I love both of the papers. Thanks so much for a chance to win!!! My hubby was called up to active duty, 5 yrs ago. He is stationed 4 hrs from home, so is only home on the weekends. I too, burn the midnite oil and craft all hrs of the day & nite. In the last 8-10 mos, I have come across the art of mini albums and hinged binding systems to work with chipboard, cardstock and beautiful papers. These have pockets, flaps and pages for photos and journaling. You can make then in 2×3’s for kids school photos, up to 12×12 for the beautiful paper stacks that many company’s make. I have made one of these albums, back in June and would love to be able to crank them out every 5 days or so. I think they would make wonderful gifts for family and friends and a great way to use up larger scraps of papers.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, Thank you for asking… I’ve done lots of crafts over the years, creating something lovely is so satisfying! One thing I don’t know how to do though, is tatting. When I was little, I watched my grandmother make beautiful lace with that fascinating little shuttle. I couldn’t tell how she did it from watching, but she did. she’s been gone for a long time now, and I so regret that I didn’t get her to teach me. I think I will find some instructions for tatting, and learn how! My dear grandmother would like that. Thank you for offering us a chance to win that gorgeous paper. And thank you for all you do for us! Get some rest sweet girl! Hugs and blessings! Patty W.ReplyCancel

  • Phyllis SJanuary 21, 2012 - 11:08 pm

Hmm! My ‘bucket list’ of crafts and skills is long – fused glass, quilting, stained glass, more painting, tatting, found object assemblage, welding (!), woodworking, bookmaking, teaching more craft classes, etc. etc. etc. Another goal – to make some really elegant cards, such as yours. I tend to go for clean and simple, but so aspire to really layer papers and shapes along with ribbons, beads, etc. Thanks for the chance to win.ReplyCancel

  • Maria VillasenorJanuary 21, 2012 - 11:08 pm

Tatting !!! that’s what I would like to learn.
An elderly aunt once tried to teach me, but I was very young and “did not
have the time”, my aunt passed away and I missed a great chance, so now I have to learn by myself.
Love both of the papers and love your blog…I go to bed at odd hours also.

    Hi Becca,

I just got back from The rubber stamp and scrapbooking show and it was amazing….there were so many demonstrations and so many ideas floating around…I saw something that I have not tried it,,, was a canvas kit that was a breathtaking handmade floral display like a spray of flowers and and then they added chipboard pieces that looked like fencing and incorporated a large photo….it looked like it would be fun….Also, there was something called “Geo -dies”….lots of medallions, etc….and I thought of you and what you could do with them in your beautiful cards….well, it’s late and I have to get to bed soon…see you tomorrow…:)ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
The one thing I would love to learn is calligraphy. I have bought several books and somewhere I have a pen set with various nibs. I have always had it in the back of my mind that it is something I will do when I retire. That hour is fast approaching and my eyesight is no longer 20/20 nor are my fingers as nimble as when I formed this plan. Handwriting, much less beautiful handwriting is becoming scarce in the digital age.

There are so many interesting crafts and things to try and do. I am very lucky since my SIL and niece live next door and they are both artists who have successfully done everything from stained glass, rug hooking, felting, oils, watercolours, sewing, beading, crocheting…well, you get the idea. They are awesome and always willing to share their knowledge with me and many others. One thing they are both so good at and I would like to learn more about is creating with Fimo. It goes so much farther than just little bumpy animals and beads.

Hi Becca. I have tried lots of crafts really. LOL. I have ‘fiddly fingers’! LOL. As some others have mentioned I have never tried making lace – but that is rather a specialised art form that you don’t often come across these days isn’t it. Bet it requires a lot of patience too – not sure it would grow fast enough for me. LOL. I would though like to be able to construct the ‘flower loom’ you showed us. I live in the UK. The one technique I have tried to master is one you use many times; it’s the effect of having a space between a die cut and a sentiment. Each time I try, the effect looks flat and certainly isn’t dimensional like yours. I love trying new things. I am usually working on a couple of things at a time with more “have to try” in the back of my mind. I came across the “Prima tutorials last night (I know- I’m a slow learner) I love all the new things Primas is coming out , but completely in love with the Romantique line. I love soft pastels and vintage shabby chic, so this fits both catagories. I would love to try a canvas mini. Mixing fabric, paper and paints with alot of blingage. Thank you so much for sharing each day. I try to make a card using each of your techniques, (I’m going broke with my wish lists each day, because of you) I just tell my husband “it’s Becca’s fault. He knows who you are because I show him your creations each day. Bless you and get some sleep. I’m worried about my wish list after CHA premiers all the goodies!! CindyReplyCancel

My BIL does this and he does some amazing things. He cut an old church pew down for me to 4 ft. and refinished it. When I see beautiful things made, there is something inside of me that says, “You can do that.” Well, lots of times when I try I find that some projects aren’t that easy to do like I thought they would be. Unseen failures are all a part of learning to produce fine products. So, one thing I would like to press through is not to be intimidated by how long it takes to get something right. Oh Becca, I absolutely LOVE your black and red birthday card, it is STUNNING! I guess I’m going to have to put that damask Spellbinders die on my wish list. Something that I would really like to get more involved in is making quilts. The first one I made was a basic quilt and I think that my instructor sewed more than I did on it, the second one ended up being too short for my bed, so I need to find someone to help me lengthen the sides so that I can actually use it … it was three to four years ago that I started it, and its still not finished.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, I would like to try my hand at 3D papercrafts. I saw on a blog, where the girl made a lap secretary. The top opened to store stamps and an address book. The front dropped down to reaveal a writing area and cubbyholes to store 6 different themes of cards. If I had one of these, I would also like to keep it stocked with cards, so I had one ready to go at any time.ReplyCancel

I’ve learned so much from you already, Becca, and my cards are showing it! My sweet husband has made me a Peg Bow Maker, and I’ve been making more bows and using pearls. Beautiful!! What I’d like to try next is your hexagon box with the Spellbinders hexagon petal envelope die. It’s next on my list. Depending on the size of these blog candy papers, it looks like some fantastic paper for boxes!! Thanks for another opportunity to send in an entry.ReplyCancel

Been dreaming of finding either of these paper lines and so far have been unable, thank you so much for the chance to possibly get my hands on either.

Oh my where to begin on the things I’d love to learn, I want to try to make some grunge roses, I have all the supplies, just need to try it, I have always wanted to learn how to sew but keep putting it off to do so many other things, and lets see, I wish I knew how to knit or crochet, lol, I have an endless list of things I’d like to learn. For now though I think I have to start by putting all the awesome flower tutorials I’ve been watching with the minimal hand sewing I can do already. Great Question by the way makes me really think about the techniques and crafty stuff that I want to know how to do.ReplyCancel

I’m sticking to card making— have enough trouble finding space/money to keep up with the endless SBs and other tools, techniques, etc. that are constantly coming out. Right now I’m starting to stamp samples of all my stamped sentiments so that I can see at a glance the size, font, and general look of what I have available. We have been married for 47yrs now and I really want to take all my wedding photos out of the album and SB them. When I started SB it was to do my family tree photos but after a few pages they seem to be put aside to do grand-children pages, but heres hoping I will get to do at least my wedding album in the near future. My bridesmaid dresses were 2 in aqua and 2 in pale yellow but it has always been difficult to find yellow papers and I think that is why the wedding album keeps getting left undone, so I think I will have to try doing it in black and white. Kindest regardsReplyCancel

    Becca,

There are so many things I would like to do! Quilting was something I started many years ago but haven’t kept up with it…I have a ton of squares
that I have put together but just haven’t finished them.. So maybe it’s just
finishing the projects that I have already started.. I have a kiln sitting out in my garage.. this is the 17th time I have moved and my hubby is just tired of hooking up the electrical again.. Poor guy! As far as paper crafts, mini albums are my favorite.. but doing my own binders looks so challenging I haven’t ventured out making them… Praise God for You tube! I love all the projects you do and they inspire me.. Could I ask you where you get your inspiration from? Mine just seems dried up right now! Maybe it’s just a season…Thank you for the candy that your offering this week, would love to be a winner! Deb~ReplyCancel

  • Marcie SmithJanuary 23, 2012 - 12:25 pm

I just love to create. I have tried my hand at most crafts, (sewing, wood, scrapbooking, card making, knitting, crochet etc.), the list is long. Most of what I enjoy is home decor items. Since the twins arrived, and I do day care for them, & my crafting time is very limited, and my crafting is usually based around items requested by my family. I just finished an exhausting Birthday Party projects for the twins 2nd Birthday which is two weeks after Christmas. I made all the decor and party favors which if I had more lead time would have been much more fun. This past week I am doing more Party projects for a Tea Party/Baby Shower that my daughter asked me to create decorative items and do the invitations for. The theme is Alice in Wonderland Tea Party. Again my lead time is very short and I have been doing some all nighters. But I think I have nailed it. The one thing that I have really wanted to try my hand at is altered projects that include some melt art. It’s next on my things to try if I ever get some spare time.

Somehow I would love to learn how to incorporate other art media in with my card making, such as with Studio Paints by Ranger. Romantic that I am, I want to put a paintbrush in my hand, swirl it around in the paint and come up with a background that makes a then stamped image on top come to life. Something like using alcohol inks on transparencies then stamping. Gorgeous unpredictable results. I would like to use these techniques more frequently in my cards so anything new would be appreciated.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca – wonderful candy. I’m relatively new to stamping so plenty of things I’m itching to try out or start anew, but one in particular is figuring out how to use distress inks. As yet, I can’t see the point of them, or why everyone raves about them, as to me, they seem to be just the same as any other ink, but perhaps I’ve just not researched them properly.

I’m also keen to learn more about how to tie ribbons as you do :)

Hi again, Becca. Another craft I’d love to try is quilting, but I’m “ruler challenged” (if it is less than 1/4″ I’m sunk because the lines jump around on me with my eyes), Think I’m more suited to be a consumer than a diy quilter. But I love the colors, textures, etc of a beautiful quilt. The blog candy that you offer are all so beautiful, I’d love to be picked for this one. Thanks for all your inspiration!ReplyCancel

Now that the question has been asked more ideas are coming to me that I haven’t thought of in a while. One is to learn how to use my huge set of Prisma Pencils better. I tried it for a while but soon realized it would take lots of practice to learn the art. I have even seen them used with Copic markers in the teeny tiny spots where the Copics can’t safely color. This has been fun, Becca.ReplyCancel

Hi again Becca! I’m not one to make New Year’s Resolutions, but your question about what new crafting things we’d like to try has at least made me think about some things I either “need” to do or want to do when it comes to my cardmaking. I own a lot of Spellbinders dies and I have always just used them in the most basic of ways. Even though I have read your blog and others for ages and I look at all the layering of die cuts that you and some others do, I just never take the time to experiment with all my dies and try the layering thing. So, hopefully I will make myself set aside some time to get out my Spellbinders dies and just have some creative play time.ReplyCancel

One thing I have been thinking about trying,,,and it’s just been a though, it making beaded fringe for glass lamp shades. I bought a victorian floor lamp many yrs ago when my bedroom was mauve. The shade is pink with clear and pink beaded fringe. My room is no longer mauve, but I love the lamp. So I would like to find a shade in frosted glass and try my hand at clear and a neutral bead, so it will go with most any bedding I happen to use.ReplyCancel

Well back again Becca, lets see, another thing that I don’t do often and would
like to is getting back to working with my alcohol inks and stamps, it can be mess, but so love the end result. It seems the dies have taken over my crafting and so have not been using my stamps as much!! They look at me from their place on the shelf, or in their binders and look so lonely and forlorn. I see tons of techniques on you tube and all over that I would like to try , but get so overwhelmed.
I think what is inhibiting me most in ALL my areas, is my crowded work area, and having to hunt for all my stuff. I have to RE Vamp my work area, one of these days I will just start and not finish it until it is done!!
Thanks for the chance at your wonderful blog candy.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca! I’m head over heels for all the beautiful Prima papers! I love the vintage look and feel that most of the Prima products have and I’ve purchased quite a few but so far I’ve been intimidated to try a scrapbook page or card because the ones I like seem to have layers and layer and more layers of embellishments and I don’t feel confident that I’d get the placement quite right so that’s my next goal. One thing I did venture into recently was spray misting my own seam binding to make pretty crinkle ribbon and I had so much fun with it!

I think I mentioned book making but I’d also like to fix the chair in my bathroom. It has a needlepoint seat cover that has been virtually destroyed over time and needs a new one, so I guess needlepoint will be my next craft to learn!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca! You know something that I really want to do is learn to make puffy bows with seam binding. I don’t know why I am having such a hard time with them, but mine always look terrible. I’m determined to finally master that tricky to me bow. Have a great weekend!ReplyCancel

    Becca,
I love the blue card you made. It is very elegant. The other things I would like to do is go back to oil painting. When I see a painting my craftive juices start to flow & I can almost smell the paint.

I would love to finish the box like you made for your sweetie the other year. It was absolutely gorgeous. You did some weaving on the box/basket. I started it but didn’t go any further than cutting some of the pieces out. You are so creative and always think up wonderful ideas for your papercraft.ReplyCancel

If I had another 24 hours each day i would take up quilting. I have finished one small quilting project (a Christmas tree skirt) but figure that there are not enough hours in the day to be a papercrafter AND a quilter, so papercrafting wins for now. I really appreciate the beauty of a quilt, my husband’s Aunty made all our three children a quilt each when they were babies, they are very beautiful.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, oh the list of all the things I want to try is endless. What is racing through my mind these days is Nuno felting. I sooo want to try it because it looks so delicate and beautiful. I want to make some lovely nuno felted silk scarves to give to the girls I craft with each week. I know they’d love them… so that is my challenge for this year.. find the time! lol. Love and hugs Carol. xxReplyCancel
