Hi there blog friends.  Popping in with a theme card today.  I love themes, but I can’t say I can whip them up quickly – the card kind of evolves over time.  What an opportunity to use a unique trinket or some special charm you have laying around.  Oh and it’s definitely a chance to get a little techniquey!  Today I’m showing a brand new background stamp from JustRite Stampers called Vintage Map Collage Background Stamp.  I’ve have been chomping at the bit to use this one, it just arrived this week.  I think it’s the perfect stamp for a travel journal – that’s next on my list (wink)!

I found an antiquey looking paper in my stash and stamped my image with Stazon Ink.  I dry brushed on distressed inks and in some places touched with a less than damp brush to blend.  I distressed the edges of the map and smudged them with distress ink.  Rolled up two corners and underneath I nested Spellbinders™ S5-090 Romantic Rectangles for a petticoat look.  For a little bit of dimension, I cut out the compass with Spellbinders™ Standard Circles SM and popped it up on foam tape after rimming with a gold pen.  My ribbon was distress with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then I stamped my sentiment inside a label holder which I backed with one of the filigree elements from Spellbinders™ S4-362 Ribbon Buckles.  The main panel is mounted on a textured paper that reminds me of the texture of a suitcase.  That layer is then mounted on gold foil.  Lol, I got my hands a little bit dirty on this one :-)

This is a little bit different from my normal day to day card, but it was great to dig in and get my hands inky.   Have you fallen in love with those Romantic Rectangles yet?  I have a feeling I’ll be using them a lot!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite Stampers –  Vintage Map Collage Background Stamp, Greetings from Paris
Paper: Paper Studio, Colorbok Foil, Creative Imaginations, Bazzill
Ink: Assorted Ranger Distress Inks, Stazon Ink
Accessories: Spellbinders™ S5-090 Romantic Rectangles, Spellbinders™ S4-362 Ribbon Buckles, Spellbinder™ Standard Circles SM,  Recollections Gems, Bead Landing Filigree,

Whew, TGIF!!!  I’m ready for the weekend, how about you?  I’ll be back with something new soon.

This evolved into a Old Word beauty. Your card is beautiful Becca. Love the colors and the layout. Love it when you use a stick-pin. You have embellished just so nicely. It’s very eye catching how you have layered the paper under the main focal off to the side for a nice added touch. Beautiful work. As always Becca, TFS!!! :-DReplyCancel

Glad you got a little outside of your comfort zone to create this masterpiece! I love all your work but I really like this creation as I teach
alot of vintage pieces for my altered books classes. In face, my local consignment shop sells some of my vintage style cards. Anyway, I love how you used the rectangle die peaking out in a “petticoat style” – very

Anyway, I truly love todays card. I like you, love to get a bit grungy and grubby now and again to be able to produce something alittle different from the norm. Your inclusion of the metal luggage tag is lovely, it adds a real sense of authenticity to the overal appearance.

I keep saying I will make one for the trips we take, but never find the time before we leave. I have bags and bags of brochures, ticket stubs, booklets and such from our trips. Some things get put in scrapbooks, but others, I hold onto. I think a journal is a good place to keep them along with the photos I haven’t scrapped.ReplyCancel

Actually, I’ve always wanted to learn how you end up working for companies creating projects for CHA and other events or publications! That’s not really a craft I want to work, so here’s my other answer: like you, I’ve always wanted to learn stained glass. Especially how to repair older stained glass. We have an old stained glass panel over the main window in our dining room (one of the main things that attracted me to the house!) and it got broken several years ago. I recently watch a program on fixing stained glass and it didn’t seem difficult, but this is too important for me to take on as a newbie!ReplyCancel

I have always wanted to learn how to do tatting. I remember my grandma doing it when I was a little girl. In fact, I think I have her tatting tool around here somewhere. I don’t know anyone that does tatting, so I don’t know who could teach me. Maybe I’ll try looking it up online to see if I can find directions and figure them out.

WOW! One of my all-time favorite cards!ReplyCancel

Hi there blog friends.  Well, I circled back around and tried this again, and I guess the second times a charm.  I wanted to prepare another version of the medallion flower, so this time I put it on a card and made a matching box.  You all were curious, so the tutorial basically shows how you put the medallion together.  Once together, you have options to put it on a box, card or on perhaps a bed of lace for a corsage.

For my sample, I’m using the new JustRite Stampers Shabby Music Background.  It was the inspiration for my box and I extended it to my card for a matching ensemble.

The sentiment is from the new JustRite Stampers With Sympathy set.  It fit perfectly on Spellbinders™ Ribbon Banners.

The medallion is made using JustRite Stampers Nested Medallion Labels – custom die templates produced by Spellbinders and is stamped using the new JustRite Stampers set called Starburst Medallion Labels.

Here’s the tutorial showing you how . . .

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite StampersShabby Music Background, Starburst Medallion LabelsWith Sympathy,
Paper: Colorbok, Bazzill, Neenah Classic Crest Cream
Ink: Palette – Burnt Umber
Accessories: JustRite Nested Medallion Labels, EK Success Border Punch, Recollections Pearls, Seam Binding,

By the way, several of you asked about my filigree hearts. They are very light weight – made of metal and I purchased them at Michaels :-)  Thanks so much for stopping by.  I’ll see you soon!!

I’ve always wanted to learn to knit. Some friends are teaching me, but I make a lot of mistakes, and have to stop when I make one until I see them for our biweekly gathering so they can correct it and get me started again. I don’t know if I will ever finish this scarf nor want to wear it, but I’m determined to keep trying.ReplyCancel

Hi there blog friends!   You know when you have one of those days where every Murphys Law thing that can happen, does happen?  Well, that would be my day, today.  I had a tutorial almost completed, but it just wasn’t ready for prime time, lol!  I’ll have to come back at it again or need to change something or perhaps just set it aside.  No worries though, instead I thought I would show you a little project that I sent off for display at the Spellbinders booth.  I love, love, love the new cut and tuck die templates – they will get a lot of use from me.  Earlier this month I whipped up a little box and used three of the cut and tuck die layers to create a flower medallion.  It makes a box, lickety split, it’s different and quite dramatic – I think.

The die template I used was Spellbinders™ S5-111 Angle Approach and the box is 4″ square by 1″ tall.  Since I love dimension I think this is one that I’ll repeat often for little gifty situations.

That’s all for me today!  I’m going to take a break, get a breath of fresh air and hit the reset button.  ….because sometimes that’s what ‘cha gotta do :-)

Hi Becca, as always your work is beautiful and love your box with the cut, fold and tuck, die template, it remindes me of brass Ornaire stencles where you used an exactor knife to cut the paper, then you folded it then tucked it in, it looked nice with double sided paper, you could not use too heavy a paper, the only thing different is the die does the cutting for you so much easier.
Keep up with the lovely cards.
