Good morning friends!  Whew, what a busy week!  It’s a new year and it already feels like time is flying.  Not that I wasn’t productive last week, but I really have my hopes set on getting some things done this week – er…um that that I’ve been putting off.  You know, things like chores, lol!  I’ll be the first to procrastinate by sitting down to the craft table – but you know what, it sure feels good.  Today we get to show another newly released set for JustRite Stampers called Warm and Cozy.  It goes hand in and with matching die templates that I used in my card, they are Nested Medallion Labels and Nested Oval Medallion Labels

Lace on card . . . check.  Tons of pearls . . . check.  A smattering of bling . . . check.  Awesome new die templates . . . check, check.   (Smile)   I love stamping!

Becca, this card is lovely….It just begs to be used for something grand. I’m trying to think of someone special to send a card similar to this to. Mine never turn out quite as nice but they are way better than they used to be. I’ve learned so much from you. I am way bolder with colors and patterns and someone recently told me that I had turned a corner in my card making LOL. I see that you used the stencil technique on this card like you did on the first one with this template. I have stared and tried to mimic the technique to no avail. Could you please elaborate on how to layer and stencil. Thanks again for sharing so much with us.ReplyCancel

I need to trade places with you! I struggle to get to the craft room because I feel I must, must, must get chores done first… this one I can blame on my mom (bless her soul). At least it is a habit that has served me well over the years, even in the craft room, so I’m not complaining just conflicted when my crafting muse starts tugging me towards the craft room and the laundry isn’t done!! Beautiful card, Becca. It, too, inspires me to move to the craft room!ReplyCancel

Hello there blog friends!  Thanks so much for popping in to spend a moment – I really do appreciate it!!  Such a busy day, but I did get to finish up something I started last week and I thought I would share.  Today I’m going with a much more dramatic look – I love matting things with black – it makes an amazing pop.  The sentiment is a new one that I just love from Our Daily Bread Designs called God’s Love – I paired it with a new background stamp called Grunge Butterfly Background.

Simple layering today!!  I cut my square layers using Spellbinders™ Grand Squares then for the focal part of my card I cut Spellbinders™ Labels Seventeen and embellished the end with Spellbinders™ Twisted Metal Tags and Accents.  I think I get more use out that last die template than I ever imagined :-)

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs God’s Love, Grunge Butterfly Background
Paper: Glitz, Bazzill
Ink: Versamark Black Onyx, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Twisted Metal Tags and Accents. Spellbinders™ Labels Seventeen, Spellbinders™ Grand Squares, Ribbon, Recollections Pearls, Bead Landing Filigree

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I’ll be back tomorrow morning at 9am CST with a new JustRite Stampers set — see you then!!

I love the ticking stripe stamped on the little flowered paper. That box is so cute!ReplyCancel

She’s done it again! My sweet friend Wanda Thomas, who sent me the lovely calendar last year, sent another stunning calendar for me to kick off 2012.  You can just imagine my absolute glee when I opened the box!! I love it – it so different and it’s sitting front and center on my desk. Now I didn’t design this calendar and Wanda didn’t a link to send me, but I couldn’t resist sharing this with you. I haven’t made one myself, but I want to give you enough details so that if you want to make one you can.  It’s adorable!!

The calendar came with 12 different tags – one for each month of the year plus a tag for the recipient.  The month grid is either stamped on printed on each tag.

I emailed back and forth to Wanda to get some of the details and here’s what I gleaned . . . She used coin envelopes (12), trimmed the top with a die or border punch, then stamped on both sides and distressed the edges.

It looks like each envelope has a strip of adhesive vertically down the back to adhere it to the envelope behind it.  The entire bunch of adhered envelopes has a cover that extends down the front, bottom and up the back.

That cover is adhered to a coaster that is covered with design paper and stamped.  So clever, Wanda cut out a small hole before adhering the design paper down and backed that hole with a magnet.

A small binder clip holds the tag for the month and is held in place by the magnet.

Each of the twelve tags is themed and embellished to correspond with the month.  She used a different color to distress each tag and different ribbon is looped in the top.

Okay, now some dimensions for you.
The coaster is 4″ x 4″ (chipboard)
Tags are 2-1/4″ x 3 -1/4″ (cardstock)
Trimmed length of the Coin Envelopes are 3-1/8″
Width of the Coin Envelopes are 2-1/2″
Cover extends 3-1/8″ down, 1″ along bottom and 3-1/8″ up back (heavy cardstock)
I can tell she used very strong adhesive on the bottom.

Bottom part of binder clip is 1/2″ x  1/4″
Cut opening for magnet is slightly larger than binder clip.

So there you have it.  I think it’s a pretty simple project and stunning when finished.

Thank you so much Wanda!  You made my day, girlfriend – there’s nothing like handmade!!

Wow Becca, this is so desireable. It is the kind of gift that keeps giving and therefore is so very special and a treasure. What a lovely friend to think of you for a gift like this, but mostly to spend so much time making this while thinking of you. I think you will be treasuring her too won’t you.
Fabulous share today, thank you. Linda x
PS I have after almost 3 months, found some of my mojo and made a very lovely card today (if I say so myself). My first in a long time and it didn’t fail either. So 3 of my goals achieved today.. (Inner Peace- my mojo basicallly, Patience with my crafting and Time to craft)… I feel so proud and so grateful to you. You asked us to tell you our crafting goals for 2012 and I did, however, it was more to me; it made me evaluate my life in more ways than just crafting and I am determined to keep it up. So thank you so very, very much.
Love across the miles. Linda xReplyCancel

Wanda is a genius! What a unique, crafty calendar. Does she have her own blog? Would love to see some other of her creations. I just finished a mini “Gratitude Journal” (on my blog-nindys-blog.blogspot.com) I love creating for others and incorporating crafting with my faith. Our friend had been on a transplant list for over a year and rec’d his liver Wed. night. Praise God. I thought it would be a nice little gift to give them, so they can write down all their blessings and gratitude with a new lease on life. You inspire me so much. Thanks for all you do.

  • Wanda ThomasJanuary 8, 2012 - 10:35 am

Wanda Thomas here – Thank you all for the very special comments and a special Thank You to Becca for the kudos and photos that make it look even better!
To answer a few of the questions:
    1) I teach computer classes to seniors but don’t have a blog. That is on my goal list for this year though.
    2) Getting all the envelopes the right height is easy. I cut off the flap and the top about 1/2 inch, then I used the decorative border punch on them. When you glue them together, Use red-line tape to attach them to the front/back and regular adhesive to attach them to each other. Don’t extend the adhesive all the way to the bottom of the envelope; stop above the bottom flap.
    3) The tag was a die from Our Daily Bread Designs.
    4) The calendars were formatted in Microsoft Publisher to fit a 3/4 inch square. I punched them out with a 3/4 inch punch and inked the edges. I punched a 3/4 hole in the tag and put the calender in the hole (taped on the back).

I’ve never met or talked to Becca. I was drawn to support her after the death of her husband. It was a RAK (Random Act of Kindness) that has developed into a friendship. So please honor Becca with her daily RAK’s for us by doing one yourself for someone in need.

Once again – thank you all so much for your kind comments.ReplyCancel
