Hi there blog friends!  It’s been a great start of the year for me.   January is a busy month (always is) with CHA on the very near horizon and you know that means new Spellbinders die templates too!  Yes I’ve been up to my elbows in delightful things that you’ll see very soon.  As I have done for the past several years, I reflect back over the past year.  It’s funny, I can remember what was going on in my life when I look back through each month of cards and projects.  Not very often will I ask you to leave a comment, and I’m not digging for compliments, but I’m especially interested in knowing what style you found here that inspired you as a crafter.  I craft from my heart and what comes through is often a measurement of something I’m feeling, something that inspired me, something I’ve prayed about or happy circumstance.  That’s a given, but at the same time I’d love to be able to offer what interests you.  Take a walk with me back through the entire year of 2011.  If you are so inclined (as one of my sweet readers who always implores me to do pink cards), I’d love to know what style you found that makes amazingpapergrace one of your daily stops.

Your cards have such elegance and beauty. While I can’t create cards like yours, I get inspiration and ideas from you cards and layouts. Thanks for all you share.ReplyCancel

Yes, elegance is the correct wording for your cards, there is so much beauty in them and a lot of love. Thank you for all the inspiration over the last twelve months.

Your use of Spellbinders is what initially caught my eye.. the way you mix and match them in your designs. I love the pearls, the bows, and best of all, the faith that pours out of your cards. Very special!ReplyCancel

I just started cardmaking within the past year and your blog was one of the first ones I found. Every single card or project you make is always so perfect AND unique. You really amaze me with your creativity. One of my favorite things about your cards (besides the most obvious–the gorgeous bows), is the creative way you layer Spellbinder dies. I’ve barely scratched the surface with owning SB dies, but when I see what you make with yours, I’m always inspired to get more creative with mine. I hope 2012 brings you happiness beyond measure! ~Hugs, CherylReplyCancel

I enjoy all of your work so choosing just one is impossible. My eye/brain immediately eliminates those with pink. I enjoy all your 3-D creations and numbers 3, 13, and 28 of this collection.

A Happy and Healthy New Year to you Becca!ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
I could not pick my favorite, because they are all beautiful. It just amazes me how you put it all together and the scripture verses, well that just tops it off. God’s Word is so true and inspiring and it’s just such a blessing to read how you depend on HIM! What would we do without HIM?
May the Lord continue to bless you with His gifts and thanks for being such a blessing to me as well as so many others.
    In His Great Love,
    ElizabethReplyCancel

As Julie above said, it was initially the Spellbinder samples that drew me in, but I love all the rest too. Your color choices are awesome, and you encourage me to add more to my creations (I am shy about a lot of embellishments or bling, although I love them!).ReplyCancel

  • BonnieJanuary 4, 2012 - 1:28 am

Wow! The first blog I ever read and the first card I ever copied was one of yours…it was hard but oh, so beautiful. It was the one you did for an Easter project with pink ribbon lacing. I changed just it a little bit as I worked it on a smaller card but did I ever get the compliments!! All your cards are elegant and as a reader, I could tell you put your heart into each one. This years collection is no different – I love them all.ReplyCancel

I found your blog about 8 mos after you started blogging. I was drawn to the elegance of your cards. I think your use of Spellbinders, ribbon and pearls caught my attention. Hi Rebecca,
I just found your blog about two months ago and have been a huge fan ever since! For me, I love best all of your projects that have that ornate, vintag style. You definitely have wonderful colour and spatial senses – your amazing use of die cuts and embellishments had me from ‘Amazing’ – the first word in the name of your company affiliate.
I can’t wait to see what you cook up in 2012, along with the rest of your followers. May it be a year of prosperity and happy crafting for us all.ReplyCancel

  • Barbara JayJanuary 4, 2012 - 2:17 am

I can’t chose because all of your cards are so beautiful . I love the elegance of card #2 and the feminine charm of card #8. The way you use Spellbinder dies is amazing. I never pre-order any Spellbinder dies after CHA until I see what you do with them. I have seen dies released that were blah to me and then I saw a wow card you made with them and I want them.
All I want to see in 2012 are cards that are “Simply Becca” :) You have a very unique style that I love and I would recognize yours if there were a hundred different cards with no designer names attachedReplyCancel

Hi Becca, you have such a distinctive style I can spot your cards at a distance! I too have recently come across your wonderful blog and website. The thing about your cards is that they inspire me to have a go; they ARE possible to do and at times can really challenge my developing crafting skills. Therein lies the trick – for me to get all that inspiration in one place is pretty marvellous.
I have become a a keen advocate and user of Spellbinders dies, JustRite and Waltzingmouse stamps – all because of your work. I have entered a world I didn’t know existed and it really excites me and delights my family and friends because it keeps me out of mischief – and the added benefit – it’s great for the diet because you just can’t snack and make cards at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!ReplyCancel

Ooh Becca, I sure can´t pic any favorites, as I simply love all your work, and always looks forward to see, what you´ll surprice us with next time, and I´ve always been positive surprised every time. I love your romantic style and flair for colors and you always use such gorgeous papers and dies. Like many here, I´m a total fan of Spellbinders dies and you´re always showing such awesome and untraditional ways to use them, which I absolutely love.
All your work is sooooo gorgeous and I don´t think, you´ve ever made anything, I didn´t like, and you´re inspiring me in so many different ways all the time, so that I have dared to try many things, I would never have believed a few years ago, but you always make everything seem so easy, that we all really believe, we can do it too, and dare to try, and thank you so much for that. You are a huge inspiration in anything you do, and I just hope, you´ll continue the way, you have done until now, as it has been soo awesome.
Have a wonderful New Year hun and keep on like always hun, you´re doing such a wonderful job as it is.ReplyCancel

You certainly are a wonderful spokeperson for the products you use. I see the wonderment of crafting. I hope your issues come to a settlement soon. I to know how bad you can feel when your body rebels. Please keep up the wonderful work you do. I so enjoy your techniques and videos. I don’t post often either but I LOVE all your work. In fact I recently just went through your entire blog again. Yes I said ENTIRE blog and AGAIN… I’ve never done that with anyone’s blog and the reason I’ve done it here is because everyone of your projects is beautiful/stunning. I often think .. “How on earth does she keep improving and her work keep getting better and better. It just seems impossible. But it’s true. :) From the beginning of your blog to your last entry you can see a progression in your work. It’s all beautiful and inspiring… The colors and papers you choose the layout and thought put into each piece. I’ve been to blog’s where people just slap something together and it shows. One can tell the projects on this blog have time, thought and effort put into them. You can only say stunning so many times before it sounds artificial but in your case each piece truly is. I couldn’t pick just one fav card or style. I love them all as well as the boxes and crafty things such as ornaments etc. I look forward to coming here everyday. I don’t think there’s anything you could change, as one’s work reflects one’s personal style and also speaks about the person them self and I see nothing to change. It’s all beautiful and inspiring. :)ReplyCancel

Becca, all of your cards are amazing and I get inspiration from them on an almost daily basis. My great love is vintage, my favourites therefore are probably the ones in vintagy colours, listed by number they are: 2, 7, 13, 25, 26 and 29. I found you through Waltzing Mouse stamps and my absolute fav is 26. I also love all of your 3 D projects and want to use this opportunity to thank you for all your beautiful tutorials and your generosity of spirit!ReplyCancel

  • Cynthia WilliamsonJanuary 4, 2012 - 4:31 am

You ask us to choose which style we like best and the best answer I can give to that is ” Becca Style” . All your cards are in your own unique style and it would be so easy to pick a Becca card from a line-up. All your cards have an elegance which comes from your perfect co-ordination of paper, accessories and sentiment and frequently a vintage feel. If I like one card better than another it is only because I have a preference for a certain colour or accessory that day.
I don’t always post as often as I should , but if you are missing from my inbox for a few days , I worry about you and miss my injection of beauty for that day.
So Happy New Year Becca and just keep on making those beautiful Becca cards.
    Love

    Hi Becca,

what a difficult choice you have given us. Your cards are truly a work of art and so clearly come from your heart… thank you for the sheer pleasure of visiting your blog and for the inspiration you give.

If I have to pick one card that WOWed me more than the rest it has to be the pop-up Xmas house…. I just couldn’t work out how you had done it despite dashing out to get the stamps. Please please would you give us a tutorial. A big ask, I know but maybe one you might consider. Carol.xxReplyCancel

I follow your blog for your creative use of Spellbinders dies, lace and those drop dead bows! Your 3D pieces this year have been flat out amazing! Since I have difficulty holding markers or pencils for coloring my style has evolved to using more die cuts and your blog is a such an inspiration to me! I’d never create cards like you do, but get all kinds of ideas from looking at your masterpieces. Layering is one thing I must try after seeing how you do so many layers for such great effects. The ribbons I admire, but am not into them myself – too fussy. I’m pretty plain Jane, but you inspire me and totally amaze me. Like dreaming up the folding birdcage card. I’d never tackle anything like that, but honor you for working out all the details! Happy creating in 2012~ReplyCancel

I think what I like most about your blog is that you post such a wide range of things, not only cards, but some really nifty projects, and you are always using the latest in designs and supplies. You also do such a great job with your tutorials. One more thing that I like about your blog is that occasionally you include a little personal information about how things are going in your life, which I think your readers are always interested in knowing, because we care about you so much. I could very easily give you reasons why I love every single card you make but 2 in particular inspired me in this selection.

I absolutely LOVE the 3rd card here, the colour scheme is so striking and luxurious looking but putting such colours together would never occur to me in a month of Sundays!

I also love the 8th card as the layout is so different, I love the way you’ve added your focal image to the corner of your card, it was such a refreshing idea to me as we all get so used to placing the focal image to the center of the card.

I look forward to seeing what wonderful creations you will share with us in 2012, Happy New Year Becca! :)ReplyCancel

All your cards are so beautiful Becca but looking back these are my favourite three:nos 6, 19 and 23. 6 and 19 are my faves because of the beautiful background papers (K and Co?) and 23 is gorgeous with the bird cage and gingham. Personally I am not as fond of the really intricate lattice type dies and go for the frames and labels shapes more. I love it when you use pink and white/cream or blues/creams/beiges. Thanks for all the effort you put in your blog it is so inspiring in both a craft and a spiritual sense.ReplyCancel

Personally, it does not matter what you post on your blog, your creations are elegant and inspirational and something I always look forward to viewing. Your video tutorials and tips are wonderful for those of us who are visual learners but even your written “Supplies I Used” list is comprehensive. It was the layers and lace that caught my eye. Your style just touches a place in my heart. I find things that I like with several designers. However, I feel like everything you make works for me. Your Becca Bits are always helpful and something I can use.

I also love the fact that you have lead me to products like ODBD, JustRite, Spellbinders, etc. With those products I can make beautiful cards, too.

Please just keep doing what you are doing!

Becca, there are so many reasons I stop at your blog with each new entry. I love the way you layer your cards and projects and the creative way you use your dies and punches. We can’t forget those beautiful bows and all the embellishments. But probably the main reason I visit is that I love to hear what you have to say each day. As far as what inspires me, the pop up house card was exceptional. All of your projects inspire me and I miss it if there isn’t a post but anticipate the next one. Thank you for sharing your projects and heart with us. May you have a wonderful 2012.

Both my sister and I visit your blog on a daily basis and whoever gets there first warns the other – “wait until you see what Becca did today – it’s gorgeous!”

Becca, you answered your own question…you mentioned that you make what’s in your heart and it shows!!! That’s what I love about your projects. They are ALWAYS eye candy. I could just sit and stare at them…the colors, layering, softness, unique techniques…..no end to reasons! I guess one of my favorite things to do is live vicariously through you….I neither have the supplies nor the time to create like you do, so I look at yours and dream of what could be……thanks for your inspiration!!ReplyCancel

Becca your work is amazing. When I see what you create a calmness comes over me. It would be an honour to receive any of these cards as THE gift.

Becca, they’re beautiful……I have a folder on my desktop computer that is entirely devoted to pictures of your cards. A few years ago I was in such a bad place, I lost my house in foreclosure, my husband served me divorce papers a week before our 20th anniversary, I lost my job……oh UGGHH! I grieved when your husband died, (I had one die many years ago) because you make your followers feels like your BFF’s. I always used your cards for inspiration, and still do. I hope that 2012 will bring you much happiness & health because the beauty within comes through your artistry………….CheriReplyCancel

This is so not fair. You expect me to pick a favorite? I could pick each and every one of them. My jaw always hits the floor when you have created something new. Ok, in this exact moment in time, I will say the one with the peach colors and three butterflies that are 3D. Now ask me again in 30 seconds and it will change but I will hit send before that happens :) Hugs to youReplyCancel

For me your cards are a work of art. I look at all of them with such awe. Your creativity, wherever, it comes from is one of the most amazing talent I have seen.

I particularly love your layering techniques and how you mix and match all your dies. If I ever need an idea all I have to do is click on your site and (although I can get lost for an hour or so) I always walk away with something.

Happy New Year to you. I cannot wait to see what you bring up in 2012.

My style is very different from yours and I don’t dain to emulate you, but I love your work. I love to read the words of faith; they are very poignant and often cause me to pause in a busy life. I have purchased some stamps and spellbinders as a result of seeing your use of them. Some of your items are not available in England.

What an incredible opportunity to see everything you did in one place. I’m drawn to everything in black and gold. They’re stunning! When I was a little girl I was very shy and when we did “temper paints” (I didn’t know what they were really called) by the time I got to the paints, the only color left was black. The school counselor thought I was depressed until they figured out I wasn’t inclined to push my way through the group to get the more popular colors, so I’ve been playing with black all my life.

I can’t believe I missed the pop-up card! It is truly amazing! But the one that stuck this year (my cat will still watch the video any time I’ll play it for him) is the pin cushion. I can’t tell you how many pin cushions I made for Christmas presents this year! They were loved by everyone who got one. I donated one to our local craft fair as a door prize and everyone oohed and aahed when they held it up as they drew the number. I thank you for that.

Okay, too much information. But I do love your stuff and appreciate your sharing it with us.ReplyCancel

I think my favorite is the pop up house, but with the exchange rate, buying Waltzingmouse stamps is hard to justify, and the labor involved in this one is way high on the scale of what I attempt. But I did buy two sets from this company due to your inspiration. I tend toward the simpler ones which use the Spellbinders, and paper that I can kind of duplicate. Every one of your cards thrills me, however.ReplyCancel

Your creativity is what always amazes me. Like some of the others have said, the way you can find something that is on sale and turn it into something of beauty inspires me. Your bows (which I had my husband make me a “peg bow maker”) really pulled me in. The way you layer your Spellbinders makes me want to do that to my cards and I always get in a hurry to get them done and forget about the layering. I love the touches of lace and pearls to your cards to make them “vintage” looking. Just keep on doing what you are doing, Becca.ReplyCancel

I LOVE Spellbinders & look to you for inspiration in using combinations (many I would NEVER think of on my own). We all look for ideas to inspire us to be creative in many ways. I don’t feel that I “copy” but use small parts in ways that are new to me. You help each of us grow in our creativity. Keep up your wonderful cards. Creating is wonderful “therapy for healing”. You have asked a difficult question of us as we love all of your cards. You have a style that in some degree comes out in each card. I guess I would comment on the ones that jump out at me because of the color. Pink is lovely but my very favorite is the first one in the last row, the black and ivory one. It isn’t the most difficult one to make as some of your cards have had a lot of planning in them to pull them off. So, in this case it must just be the color contrast that appeals to me. Believe me they all are gorgeous and I would be honored to receive any one of them in the mail. On an improvement note, there have been a couple of cards, not included in these cards, that even with your description space, it was unclear how you did it. We gotta know! so not only do your product companies sell but that we can create works of art like you. God bless you in this adventure called Life!ReplyCancel

I adore every card you’ve ever made. It is impossible to choose one style as a favourite. That’s the beauty of your work. Your approach to card creation is unique and different from everyone else. Each one elicits a ‘wow, is that ever cool and why can’t I think of such things’. I would be sad to see you limit yourself to our preferences. One of your major strengths is in your innovation.ReplyCancel

I find all of your cards amazing. I love the way you use the Spellbinders and other shapes in new and interesting ways. It helps me to stretch my craft budget when I see you have combined items in ways I would not have thought possible. I am in awe of your ribbons, bows and other embellishments. I tend to be more focused on stamping, less on the embellishments. You inspire me to add some fancies to my cards, and it really livens them up.

    Thanks for all your sharing!ReplyCancel

Becca, It is very difficult too choose just one. Every card inspires me to look at what I have available in my stash in a different way. You are so creative in the way you layer cards, create dimension, coordinate colors and your creative design process is exciting and brings card making to a different level. Your cards and designs are so beautiful. They have to be a reflection of you. You are my all-time-favorite designer … I have tons of your cards in My Favorites on SCS and I subscribe to your blog. I love everything you do. Even though I’m not a “pink person” like your friend, I can visualize your pink cards in other color combinations. I like your cards because they are generally not “cutesy”. I like a card that is a little more “adult” and formal and your designs fit the ticket for me. Of the list you published, here are my favorites:
    1 of 42 – Pop-up Card Collage
    3 of 42 – WRBF-2257-2011 (Heart to Heart)
    12 of 42 – WRBF-2593-2011 (With Gratitude)
    13 of 42 – WRBF-2604-2011 (My Father the One …)
    25 of 42 – WRBF-2873-2011 ((Christmas Blessings)
    26 of 42 – WRBF-2910-2011 (Santa Claus is Coming …)
    28 of 42 – WRBF-2929-2011 (Thank You)
    29 of 42 – WRBF-2937-2011 (Santa Claus is Coming …)
Looking forward to your wonderful work in 2012! Thank you for sharing your talents with us.ReplyCancel

oh my gosh, what DOESN’T inspire me with your work???? Ok ok, you want a real answer LOL,,,they are all inspiring, of course, but the ones I love the MOST are the ones with layers and layers of spellbinders and edgeabilities, etc,,,,,,,,,,I love when the layers start to blend and you can’t hardly tell which diecut is which,,which punch you used, or is that a piece of lace or a doily????,,,it just becomes one big lacy diecut,,,and you have inspiring talent as to which goes well with which,,,,,,,,well, I love that when I manage to create it i n my own work, and yours is extremely inspiring to me! Thank you for that!ReplyCancel

Dear, Dear Becca, you never have to fear you are fishing for compliments, you only have to post! Creating from the heart is a good thing and a good thing for the soul. When I stumbled across your blog what kept me coming back is the way you put things together. One doesn’t even need to CASE but just look to draw inspiration which is what I do. If ever Spellbinders needed a sales person you would definitely be it – LOL! Beyond that I absolutely LOVE Becca’s Bits! I love all of them but the bestest (that’s really a word) is the series you did with the punches! I’ve been doing this for 20+ years so you know how outdated many of my supplies are now and all I wanted to do was run out and update my punches so I could try that! A crafter of any level can easily follow along your journey and in most cases use what they have, you provide the inspiration. Many thanks for all you share in good times and bad. Please know that all the time and effort you put forth is ever so much appreciated. It is easy to see the love you put in every piece. Now I have to go and find some of those magnificent creations I missed last year, like that HOUSE for starters! My gracious but I had to look at those pictures a while to figure that one out – LOL! That would be quite a surprise to open that card!

Becca, I love the variety of projects you do….elegant cards, to pop up house cards, to bird cage creations, to storage and bow making “contraptions”! LOL

I also love the way you display your creations and the videos you share!

This year, for Christmas, I used your picture frame pin cushion project idea and made pin cushions for my crafting friends. I found a small picture frame that is a bright yellow sunflower with a lady bug sitting on one of its petals. And I used red fabric for the center pin cushion part of the of the flower. I tied a green ribbon around the bottom of the picture frame so the ends resembled leaves! They turned out very very cute!

What amazes me is how you know which spellbinders you can layer and fit together, or cut apart to layer. They appear to be something that I don’t recognize. I look at your supply list to recognize what and how you fit them together. You use multiple layers and it looks so complicated and professional. I need a chart with all the possible combinations that can go with another nesti. You are doing a great job. I love to see what each day will bring.ReplyCancel

  • DonnaJanuary 4, 2012 - 11:34 am

One thing, I could never pick a favorite, not on your blog, love most of what you do, I like the fact that all of what you do is so elegant looking and I love coming here and learning something new, especially if it is how to make a new kind of bow, or about a new product, you are always on the ball, and most of what you do is doable, not so way out there that us average folk can not even attempt it. You leave a very explicit list of what you use and most times where to get it, I am still waiting now almost two months to get that window die from Our Daily Bread they seem to be waiting for ever to get it from China.. Such is life I guess. But I knew right where to go to get it, from you.
Anyway, i guess my favorite is elegant but also CAS at the same time, like you said, I can see the love and TIME you put into your cards, some of us don’t one have the supplies at hand, or the time, that you do, the stamps and or ribbons, being on disability, I am very limited to funds, but I make due. It is just so frustrating to want to be able to do what you do, but don’t have any of what you use or even close to it. So it is nice to see new stuff, but also to see stuff made with old dies and product is nice too, it seems we get new stuff and you all (Design team folk) are over making stuff with the stuff we just got, kind of like we get it and it is so old already, don’t know if you see what I am trying to say.
    So will stop at that.
You are the BOMB, love your stuff and will see you almost every day in 2012 God willing, and God bless you! Good luck with the family research, I did it for over 40 years.
    Hugs
    DonnaReplyCancel

Don’t know that I can pick a favorite – I do love the simply elegant cards you make. I also love your great tutorial videos (bows, ways to use punches, etc), your great layering techniques with spellbinders and intro to some stamps. I have on more than one occasion went into my local SB store and stated I needed to buy another spellbinder because I love the way Becca Feeken used the die – I just love the way you combine dies for either a card or to make a lid of a box – or give us a glimpse of using the negative of a die.

My favorites I have used ideas from are (not necessarily the ones you listed on you current post):
    WRBF-2984-2011
    WRBF-2980-2011
    WRBF-2873-2011

    from your 2/11/11 post

Ok, I looked and went thru a second time. Each card is it’s own beautiful creation. I love the pinks- soft and shabby; blacks and gold- regal and elegant, blues- soft and soothing, reds- clean and bold. Each one inspires me and your tutorials are a huge help, since I learn visually. You have inspired me to create more cards for the ladies in my bible study. Each one looks forward to their own personal card I make for them. So you have inspired me to combine my talent and love for the Lord and give to others. So, my favorite is ……. the one that inspires me daily. Thanks for your gift.

I think you have omitted some of my favourites from 2011 but it is impossible to highlight them all.
I made row 1 number 2 for an entry in my local show last year and won first prize. It took me for ever to try and find the paper you used and was unsuccessful so it didn’t look nearly as good as yours. The unusual way of making the bow was good too.I am adicted to spellbinders dies and everytime I see a new ones you have used I put them on my wish list.

Becca, I love your CARDS and they always inspire me… each and every one.
I have been paper crafting for about 18 months and have 5 superstars on my list of artists to go to for inspiration. You and Tim Holtz share the very top spot because your styles are so very different and yet both appeal to me. I suffered Becca withdrawal a few months back because you were making some changes and days went by without anything to feed my Becca addiction!! So you just edge ahead of Tim Holtz by a smidge in my estimation because I have never suffered from Tim Holtz withdrawal… Cards, cards, cards…. Love them to pieces!!ReplyCancel

Oh, my. Do I really have to choose? Impossible!! There are so many fantastic and beautiful things that you have made. It seems that you can take something absolutely plain and turn it into something amazingly beautiful. I enjoy seeing pretty much anything you choose to make. I know that doesn’t make it easy. Michaels now carries Nestabilities so I guess I love seeing what you do with those.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
Oohh.. this has been so hard. I only found your wonderful blog last year, but have been slowly catching up with all the archive posts (still looking even now). But to ask me to chose favourites from those you have posted today was so hard I changed my mind a few times. Anyway, I will try to show the ones that win even if only by a hair compared to any of the others.
    Row 5 Cards 1&3
    Row 6 N0.2
    Row 8 Cards 2&3
    Row 9 No.1
    Row 10 Card 1
Thats the smallest I could make it sorry and that took me half a day! lol..!
Your cards are so lovely. Best wishes Linda (S.Wales, UK)ReplyCancel

  • ChristineJanuary 4, 2012 - 4:52 pm

I love the elegance and the absolute femininity of your cards. My favorites are the delicate pastels with floral prints and layers and layers of detailed Spellbinder cuts. I love the bows and lace…and, oh, the beaded pins, too.

Best of all are the sweet scripture stamps you use! I am inspired as a crafter and blessed as a child of God when I visit your blog. Thank you so much for sharing.ReplyCancel

Hello Becca I could not choose. Your work is always so inspiring and though my cards are not as layered, elegant etc etc you have certainly influenced my style. I cannot remember now who directed me to your blog but thank goodness they did. Thankyou. May you have a Happy and Healthy 2012. Anne xReplyCancel

I am a true lover of most any card in pink!
Sometimes your cards are too complicated (or have to many dies that I don’t own) but aspects of them inspire me. (AND OF COURSE it might
inspire me to purchase the die :-)
    Row 1 # 2 & 3
    Row 2 # 1 & 2
    Row 3 #1
    Row 5 # 3
    Row 6 # 2 & 3
    Row 7 #1
    Row 8 #1
    Row 10 #1

I always look forward to your blog and I believe you are one of the most talented card makers (and 3D projects) of anyone I know or see on line. Your tutorials ore the best. Clear and easy to follow and we all thank you for sharing your talent and idea’s.

    Happy New Year!!!!ReplyCancel

  • NancyJanuary 4, 2012 - 5:26 pm

    Becca,
What a fan I am of your work! The fact that you do it to glorify the Lord has inspired me to use my own talents in the same way. Honestly, I have a hard time reading other card making blogs just because you knock it out of the park – every time.
My favorite cards are the ones with the following features:
    a) Symmetrical design
    b) Two or three colors max – e.g. gold and white, black and beige, beige and white, pink and white etc…
    c) The ones with use of ribbons, few pearls and a sentiment – this is your trademark :)

I like it simple as I think more is less. So my favorites are as folllows (from top row going down, and left to right):
    Row 1: card no 2
    Row 2: card no. 1
    Row 5: card 1 and 2
    Row 6: card 1 and 2
    Row 10: cards 1 and 3

My all time favorites are a) the one you made for your husband’s anniversary/memorial (blue with wings, not shown above), and the crochet background card that you made for ODBD shown on your card.

    God bless!ReplyCancel

You know you are asking the impossible…each creation has it’s merits and you always seem to cover the wide spectrum of styles! Becca, I think quite a few comments have already said it…. and in one word… it has to be ELEGANCE. It doesn’t matter the color combination or the theme. Your style just oozes out of every creation you share with us, be it a card or a 3D creation. I’m usually in awe with how you’ve used the Spellbinders products and even when I sit down and try to COPY one your cards for myself…it just never comes out the same!! It’s your special touch and your special heart that comes through your creations. I love everything you do and I can’t pick just one favorite. I appreciate the fact that you’ve taken the time to make some videos but I wish you could teach a class that I could attend in-person! It would be phenomenal.

I sincerely wish you a fulfilling 2012 and I look forward to continuing reading your blog. Thank you so much.ReplyCancel

Ohhh Becca, What a challenge you have give us. They are all beautiful and even though I find ones that I may like better than others, I truly enjoy looking at the various ways you use your stamps and your dies. It amazes me to see how differently you look at each new item. You come up with uses for each item that I would never thought of and I am always excited to see what “Goodie” you have for us each day. Your talents are endless!! I think I like plain and simple best, I especially like Item #4 and item #28. They are clean, elegant and somehow graceful looking. I have tried many of your techniques and your instructions are very easy to follow. I really appreciate that and need that. But you offer our tastebuds such a selection that one is not “The One”. Each item has a class of its own and I believe they are all on top. You talk of how your followers help you, well did you ever consider how you help many of us? Your inspiration, your talents, they are amazing. You certainly named you site the correct name. You are amazing. Hugs, LindaReplyCancel

I live in Phoenix, the home of Spellbinders, and I have 242 Spellbinders die sets. Have a great time at CHA, I wish I could go, but I am only a cardmaker and scrapbooker addict, not a vendor.

Hi Becca – for me one of the reasons I come to your blog is I always find beauty here. If I’m having a bad day, or it’s raining and I want a little sunshine your designs provide that. Even on those days when you’re blogging and not feeling 100% the fact that you took the time to say hello to those of us out here in cyber space is encouraging.

For my own crafting, you inspire me to try new things – to not be afraid to put a square in the middle of a circle, to not be afraid to put a bow on something for a man, or to make a flower out of some kind of paper that doesn’t exist in nature.

Overall, this is just one of my most favorite crafting stops – if not my most favorite!ReplyCancel

So I am choosing the wonderful, creatively different bird cage… and I am partial to the boxes in image 25 and 30. Another feature i LOVE are the fabulous lace trims you use… oh how i would love to get my hands on those!!! I tend to stick with “simple” because I’m not as imaginative and creative as I would like to be, but your cards give me hope that I can, at least, partially copy your designs. I have made cards with the “thank you” embossing folder several times now and have recd. “rave” reviews about them. 1) the clean, sleekness of your designs
    2) the way you put such beautiful colors together and it flows
    3) the thing that drew me from the beginning, and continues to do so, is the lacy things you create out of mere paper.

Its not so much a style of card as it is YOUR style–elegant, classic, romantic, very professional looking. I think its your attention to detail that always catches my eye–whatever card style you choose (square, oblong, tall, short, etc).

    #4
    #14
    #15
    #17
And #20 because I am really getting into the stick pins. After looking back at each one of these I think I choose them because they are more simple, (still elegant) but since I can’t buy “everything” you use…with these I can more than likely substitute something I have on hand. I don’t want to “copy” so these inspire me to do my own thing with the ideas you have given me. Your tutorials and Becca Bits are wonderful! Thanks for all of your inspiration!ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
Its been a while since I have sent any comments, but love all your lovely cards, its hard to pick just one as all are so beautiful. I think the ones I like best is when you use different die cuts and pair them together, you seem to have a nack of knowing which ones work together, it sure makes me try some combinations too, love your bows, I still have to make myself a bow maker. Keep up the good work and look forward to more beautiful cards.
All the best for the new year and health and happiness you sure deserve it.

I love the way you layer your cards with the different dies. You have inspired me to give it a try and I surprised myself with the results. I was in such a rut and after following your blog I was able to challenge myself to try something new. I also like the way you use the beautiful laces (is that plural in itself — like sheep?). I have some very old lace that I have been saving and now I am using it. No one is enjoying it when it is in a drawer so I am now using it. You are an inspiration to me!!!ReplyCancel

You know, Becca, I don’t think you can make something that I would not love! I love the elegant cards you always create – they are always just awe inspiring to me! I love the shabby chic look – though I cannot seem to recreate it – I need a step by step tutorial I think. Very specific tutorial because I am dense at times :) I love your boxes and extra goodies too – love the pin cushion! I made one although it is not nearly as lovely as yours! I just found a plain frame and decided to try it and it was really easy with your instructions so I will be making more :) I am always excited to see your blog in my email box because I know I will see something gorgeous and inspirational! Thanks for sharing your creative talents with all of us!ReplyCancel

They are all so beautiful, but if I had to say …..then I tend to be partial to the 3D cards more. The more depth, the better I like. Also the color has to flow easily on the eye. You do an excellent job either way. God bless… DeniceReplyCancel

Becca – you had me as a devoted fan two years ago – goodness!! I’ve loved how you add dies on top of dies and how you use color to enhance the stamp messaage. I can usually pick your cards from pictures of many, just because your style is just YOU….Others may try to ‘case’ your cards, however, your style does deeper than that – and we are all so grateful that you share with us.

Don’t change or offer less than what you want to give.

Dear Becca, I’ve been following your art and your blog for over 3 years now, and although I don’t create the elegance you have mastered, I’ve learned a lot from you. I’ve studied your cards and your techniques, and have translated all this to my own style. You have helped me to grow in my art, most notably to enable me to recognize some key components to a successful card: color, design balance, dimension, texture, emotion, and last but not least, bling! Now I can usually assess my cards as I create and recognize what works and what doesn’t. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity in sharing your arts with us. I know these past years haven’t been easy for you, but still you’ve been a faithful blogger and artist. I’ve followed your growth and your setbacks, which often have correlated my own, and I’ve gained strength and courage from your words and your stick-to-it-ivity. :) I wish you many more years of successful and fulfilling art, and send you hugs. ?ReplyCancel

  • Kristine VencelJanuary 6, 2012 - 10:07 pm

Oh Becca! There’s no way to possibly choose 1 card as a favorite! At least not for me. Each beautiful card is a masterpiece all on its own, created with love by the artist. I adore looking at your designs. They totally inspire me to create cards along the same lines, though not near to the level you are at.

Thank you so much for sharing your creations. I look forward to your new designs of any type this year. I know they will be fabulous!ReplyCancel

. . . I love this one too!!  Actually, it is a combination of the die template that I used on Tuesday called Nested Medallion Labels and a new one called Nested Oval Medallion Labels.  I’ve used two of the latter together, stacking them then turning one 90 degrees.  It was pure serendipity that the resulting shape matches the Nested Medallion Label shape.  When I cut out my roses using the Nested Medallion Labels, it is slightly larger and makes for a great matting behind my intertwined shapes.   I pulled the pointed corners through and it gives a cool look.  (Available now, these dies are made through the Spellbinders Custom Product Program and are exclusive to JustRite Stampers!)

It’s been ages since I tried to color anything – I’m never quite sure what I’m going to end up with.  Have a  peek at this new set from JustRite Stampers called With Sympathy – this is a large format 6″ x 8″ set which is larger than the sets you’ve seen in the past.  If you’ve visited me before when I’ve stumbled on a great image, you’ll hear me raving about shading.  Well get ready for the rave, the roses in this set are already shaded so that people who are more challenged with coloring (like me),  don’t have to.  I used three colors of Distress Ink and dry brushed the roses with one color – Stormy Sky  and the leaves with two shades – Forest Moss and Peeled Paint.  It doesn’t get any simpler than that.  I didn’t go for full watercoloring because I stamped on design paper and I didn’t want it to buckle from the moisture.  By keeping my brush nearly dry, I could get intense ink in the nooks and crannies of the rose without slopping lots of color around.  The end result is that it looks like you fussed around alot but you didn’t!

Because my main panel is rather large, I offset it by hanging a small tag from JustRite Charm Dies with my small sentiment to balance out  the card.  The bow is my favorite figure eight loops bow made on The Peg Bow Maker with 5 wraps on the 2 1/2 inch width setting.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:  JustRite StampersWith Sympathy
Paper
:
Memory Box, My Minds Eye, Bazzill
Ink: Stormy Sky Distress Ink, Peeled Paint Distress Ink, Forest Moss Distress Ink
Accessories: JustRite Stampers  Nested Medallion Label Dies, JustRite Stampers Nested Oval Medallion Label Dies, JustRite Stampers Charm Dies, Martha Stewart Ribbon, Lace, Stick Pins, Recollection Pearls, Pearl Brad

Here is a visual on how I put my main panel together:

Cut Roses out with Nested Medallion Label

Stamp Frame and cut with Nested Oval Medallion Label, slice in half

Cut two frames with Nested Oval Medallion Label and stencil

Layer first Nested Oval Medallion Label, turn second one 90 degrees

Place cut Nested Medallion Label underneath, pull pointed corners through.

Using foam tape, mount on top of half cut slices of frame

Several of the other JustRite Stampers Design Team members are ready to share their creations from this set too.

JustRite Inspiration, Becca Feeken(you’re here!), Michele Kovack, Linda Duke, Kellie Fortin, Barb Schram, Angela Barkhouse, Kazan Clark

Thanks so much for stopping by – remember I have two blog candies going HERE and HERE where you can leave comments until Midnight CST on January 5th!

I have a friend in the display business who gave me huge sheets of magnetic material that are left over from projects they do. Most are about 2 feet by 2 feet. Next on my list for the new year is getting that up on the side of my cabinet to hold my Spellbinders dies. Right now I keep them all in the packages they came in which I slit with my exacto or cut with scissors to gain access. . . . sneaking in another prize for this weeks Blog Candy.  You see, what happened was I totally intended for there to be two prizes.  But, when it came time to get the second prize from my woefully upturned studio, I could not find it.  I looked and  looked and well, if you could just see the place right now, you’d understand (shakes head).  Luck was on my side today and tucked away in a place that totally did not make sense, the whole stack lived 3 feet away from where I sit!   What stacks you say?   Well, stacks of thick, new double sided Prima design paper from their Printery Collection – eight different double sided sheets.   So throw your hat on into the ring; leave a comment on this post telling me what you’d like to make with this wonderful Prima paper.

Since I now know my way around Ancestry.com pretty well – my sister, my mom and me have been getting our family tree in order and I’ve learned more this year about my family than I knew before.  It almost seems a shame that all the information lives in the computer so I want to put together a little dossier of the head of each branch of our family tree.  I think the vintage document look of Printery will be perfect.   As with the other Candy, I’ll take comments on this until midnight CST on January 5th and will pull a name on Friday,  January 6th.  Feel free to leave one comment each day if you’d like to.

I’ll have another post tomorrow morning at 9:00am with another new die template that I’m really excited to share!!   I hope you’ll come back to visit!!

Oh my I have totally had my eye on these papers for a whole now! I have been (unfortunately) away from my crafting table for a few weeks due to the holidays and have been seriously itching to get back to my table! SO… With that being said there is a few things I have in mind for this paper! One is a tray I’m working on for my mother, I think this line would be perfect for that! And I also have a paper mâché box that’s about oh I think like 4×6 or somewhere near those specs that I’d like to decorate up to keep my smaller crafting materials that I need close to me and of course a card would be beautiful made with this line!! So glad you were able to find these becca = )

Oh that’s so wonderful to hear about your family tree. I’ve been researching mine for over 20+ years. And in contacting various family members, some of which I’ve never met, I’ve received all sorts of pictures, scans and stories of many of the people within those things. It’s so interesting what you find out and to receive pictures even your parents forgot about or never seen is beyond words. :) My fathers family even has a hard back book that goes back centuries. I hope you have as much fun researching as I have. when you hit a rough spot don’t give up. One never knows how they will find that missing person or what will lead you to a new one. :)ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
I hope you are having a good day today. It’s a wet dreary day here in South Wales, UK. Typically British weather they say. Anyway it was lovely to sign on to my PC and see such pretty papers from you. In all the time I have been visiting your blog, I can only see that you are a generous lady. You give us such beautiful inspiration almost everyday and then offer delightful candy. Bless you, that can only come from a generous heart.
Hope today is pain eased if not pain free for you.

I, too, have been researching my family tree, and BOY have I found out some stuff!! The name my grandfather had gone by all his life, and the name on his tombstone, is not the name he was given at birth. I guess his grandfather, who came here from Ireland, had a hand in naming him, and no one could pronounce it, so they made an American version of his name. The paper would be great for scrapping my family history on all four sides of my family. There are some real characters that need their history remembered.
Thanks Becca for sharing all your greatness.ReplyCancel

What awesome papers. Ancestral is exactly what I was thinking when I saw them. So glad that you found them. I have been doing genealogy for more than 10 years. Because of it, I have connected with so many family members. I, also, love Ancestry.com. The wealth of information is immeasurable. But, don’t discount the Family History Library. I’m not Mormon, but they have been wonderful at sharing their information with me. Some info that I’ve gotten through FHL is not avail at Ancestry. com. Good luck with your ancestry as it’s a never ending adventure.ReplyCancel

Craft room–did someone mention craft room? I have been moving ‘stuff’ out of this tiny space (my son’s old b-room–only big enough for captain’s bed, chest of drawers and desk) and reorganize what is office (business and ancestry.com dabbling) and scrapbooking/cardmaking. Wool stash and old games being moved to basement and using closet for scrapbooks and,,,and,,,well, I get to that today. There’s no room to move!!! Anyway, love the Prima lines of paper. I have so many heritage photos–my grandma was 96 when she passed and I am the one who inherited her photos (which were passed down to her). And, Becca, your designs are so beautiful–I check out your projects daily. Have chattered on enough must get to the day’s work! TTFNReplyCancel

Where have I been, just discovered your web site. I feel like a “gold miner,” and have struck it rich (Wow Hoo ).

As a story teller, family history is very important to me. All of us should tell our story to the new generation of family members. I embrace technology to the fullest but letter writing has been lost, remember the telegram (the what????).

So to preserve some of the past for the future, I would love to share stories, pictures, recipes etc with these papers when telling our family story, also to encourage and help others when I serve as a community service volunteer.

With inspiration and thanks to U Becca,
    LoraReplyCancel

    Becca,

What to make? Well i have a book i wanted to make about my Grandmother who passed away two years ago, i haven’t had the courage to make it yet. Every time i try i just cry. Well I’m ready now. I want to make one for my Mom, my 4 sisters and my brother, and of course me. I want her to live on in our hearts as she was so amazing in life. She made each of her grandkids and great grandkids feel that we were her favortie. Pretty amazing Grandma huh? My Mom knows how to do that too! Anyway this paper would be perfect. Haah! Just been through the same thing! Cleaning up and reorganizing the old craft room. Surprising what you can find in there, eh? I shouldn’t have to shop for supplies for the next 6 years…. But, don’t let my husband know that.
Thanks to a tip on your website, I do stop every now and then and clean up a bit. It actually serves to inspire me because I find things I had forgotten I had and think of new ways to use them. Don’t let any of the comments here deter you from sending me more if my name should come up! There’s always room for more, right? This year I am ready to keep that catalogue of my stamps and such up to date… Next on my list is organizing my ribbons.ReplyCancel

Cool papers! Would make really nice masculine cards, or cards for anyone who likes a vintage look. Scrapbook pages for my Old black and white photos would really be the thing, though.
Bet your craft area is not as much a mess as mine. I share my area with storage shelves that hold all my Christmas decorations totes, which are all scattered around the basement right now as I try to get things put away. And I’ve actually got to find somewhere else to store some of that stuff ’cause my scrapping supplies have taken over at least 1/2 of my shelf area.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful creations. They really inspire me.ReplyCancel

This paper pack would make a wonderful start to the leather-bound scrapbook I have purchased and ready to begin for my father. His mother (my Nonna) is still alive – she turned 96 this past October and I want to try and capture as many of her memories of life with her husband. He was killed in WW2 in Russia when my dad was only 2, hence family items are very hard to come by. It would be nice to have a pretty family record for my dad to browse through at his leisure without having to dig all over the place for the few odds and ends he does have. I’m sure my nonna will be gone soon too, which makes this project that much more urgent.

    Thanks for the opportunity!ReplyCancel

Becca, Do yourself a favor and don’t limit yourself to just Ancestry dot com, as there is a WEATLTH of information out there now, thanks to the INTERNET, I started doing Genealogy about 1970 and I have back beyond the 1700’s on a few of my family lines, I have so enjoyed doing the research, and of course when I started I went to the libraries to do the research and even spent a week out at the Mormon library in Salt Lake City and did non stop research for a week, and now that the INTERNET is here, it is so much easier for the at home person to do some research, but it never compares to going to the place where you are researching, some day I hope to get to Nova Scotia Canada to visit where my Irish Ancestors came in through during the 1800’s, and to Ireland itself to visit where my great grandmother lived, it is so exciting to come across ones ancestors, to see a story written about them, or to see a will written by them, I have met some very distant relatives. It can be so exciting.
And these papers would make some excellent layout back drops, I started out doing layouts and scrap booking, but switched to card making, now I do BOTH!!
Thanks for your inspiration and your generosity!!
    Hugs
    Donna

I found your blog late in the year and was overwhelmed by your spirit which evidences itself in such beauty! I am especially drawn to your creative approach to spellbinders with touches of lace and pearls or gems. It makes me think of the French Hand Sewing I used to do before my hands aged with time :(. They aren’t what they used to be. I wonder have you been into the needle arts. It was very difficult to just narrow down to one per row. Everything is so beautiful in its originality. I listed by row/item
    1/1 , 2/1, 3/1, 4/2, 5/2, 7/1, 8/2, 9/3, 10/3 Have a great new year ahead> I wish you the best and look forward to your posts!ReplyCancel

I’d love to make more little one-sheet memory books (they end up about 3″ x 3″) for other relatives. I made one for my grandmother (she’s 98) and she loved it. My aunt thought it was “precious” and the look of this paper is ideal for those little books.ReplyCancel

My sister is the “Keeper of the Tree.” She looooves Ancestry.com, and has spent much time researching our family tree. If I won these papers, I’d do something cool with it, with some of the old, old pictures she’s given me copies of. Maybe an album of ancestors.ReplyCancel

I am scrapbooking the lives of my parents and these papers would be just PERFECT for some of the pages. I haven’t been on Ancestry.com yet and not sure I will because I was able to find records through Ellis Island and other places within Hungary (which is where my grandparents migrated from). My cousin had a subscription to Ancestry.com and she wasn’t able to find much about her father’s side of the family, but was successful with her mothers. Have lots of fun!!!

Thanks for chance to win more goodies!!!ReplyCancel

The more I look at this paper, the more ideas I come up with on what to use it on! I’m sure everyone is doing this! Actually, I’d like to just look at it in detail. It’s soooooooooooo pretty, like the bug zapper on It’s a Bugs Life, drawing the little bug into it with it’s light – couldn’t resist! lolReplyCancel

These papers are beautiful! They would be great for boxes, like explosion boxes for my family using “vintage” family pictures that I recently found in a box my Mom had stashed in the corner of her closet.ReplyCancel
