Hi there blog friends! Remember yesterday when I said I was gonna rustle up some of the new stuff on my desk to gussy up into a card.  (Speaking of new stuff, I mention some Blog Candy at the end of my post).  Well, today I have new things to show and I know you can’t really hear the excitement in my voice but you would have if you had been in my craft room.  This is the first chance I’ve had to touch these things and, well, . . . LOVE!   First of all – new dies and you know that new dies make my heart sing!  JustRite Stampers has new Spellbinders manufactured custom made dies – the one I’m using today is called Nested Medallion Labels.   I promise you don’t have anything like this shape in your repertoire – it’s absolutely regal if you ask me. Of course there are stamps (conveniently) to match that die template – the set I’m using today is called Always and Forever Medallion Labels. These are new CHA releases but if you just happen by JustRite Stampers and peek in the store – there are tons of new things – check them out HERE (very big grin) – now if you are easily enabled, think twice before clicking, okay?

Yep, these have all been sitting over in the corner – it has been torture!  So I did some simple layering because I love the look of this die template.  Then I looped my seam binding through one side of the medallion and followed around the backside of the card and up through the other side of the medallion. This left me two ends so that I could tie a bow.  The cameo is a Bead Landing trinket from Michaels and I knew they would be a nice size for cards.

I cut one of the stamped motifs with Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM and attached a pennant for my sentiment.  By setting it up this way, when I give this card, should I need another sentiment, this is easy enough to detach and swap in another of the many sentiments from the set.  That’s one of my little secrets.  I can usually use a “Just a Note” card, but if a birthday pops up, and I’m not prepared, I can get there very quickly :-)

By the way, JustRite is having a retirement sale – so just as the words says, once they are gone, they are gone.   If you didn’t get your favorite 1 5/8″ or 2″ Original JustRite sets when they debuted, some of these are up to 75% off  – a bargain hunters dream.  Here’s the link – JustRite Retirement Sale.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite StampersAlways and Forever Medallion Labels
Paper: Colorbok, Neenah Classic Crest Cream
Ink: Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories: JustRite Nested Medallion Label Dies, Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM, Seam Binding, Recollections Pearls, Ivory Embossing Powder, Bead Landing Cameo

Since you all are the most wonderful readers ever, I wanted to let you know I’ll have New Years Eve Blog Candy.  I guess (after all the smooching’s done) right after midnight CST, you might have to come and peek in to see what I’ve got.  It’s been about 5 months since my last candy so I’m a little bit rusty at this.  Remember, I said I have new stuff, so hmmmm….let me dig around and see what I can rustle up!!  I’ll see you later on!!

Happy New Year Becca. I love your latest card and when I read your post, it made me smile. Have felt much like smiling since Christmas eve when we lost a grandson. But today after visiting, I did have a chuckle. Thanks for that Becca and may 2012 be “Joy Full” and filled with good health and abundance. Carole xoxReplyCancel

  • Dottie DavisDecember 31, 2011 - 9:50 am

I, too, am chuckling but for a couple of reasons. First because the card manufacturers keep coming up with such cool stuff, you said it right out front, to even look at them may lead to enabling. These dies are really great and the cameo you put in there was perfect for them. Your color choices in your card layouts are just so amazing to me…how could we ever come up with these ourselves? You are one creative lady. Thanks for all the ideas and I also want to extend my prayers for you as you march through these “various” kinds of days. We all are beset with them… that’s life on this earth. God Bless.ReplyCancel

    Oh My Becca,
I just don’t know how you do it! I just looked at those Spellbinder’s Dies the other day, and thought I didn’t like the shape that much but in your amazingly capable hands I now have to think again! I am not sure if I can say this but I think this might be the most beautiful card you have made, and of course that is saying something :D
Hugs and Much Love for a Happy and HEALTHY New Year my friend!

I am so selfishly excited to be seeing your blog posts more frequently right now. I KNOW you have more important needs and focus, but I so enjoy your creations and posts. Some of it has to do with the verses on your cards, like yesterday, most of it is YOU and your beautiful creations. I know how you feel about seeing one year end (because it was not a good one) and praying the new year coming in will be much better. One year after being in and out of the hospital including intensive care with life threatening condition, loosing my ability to ever work again as an RN, being diagnosed with a very rare genetic disorder and having to give myself a shot daily to sustain my life and now living with chronic pain I was so very glad to see that year come to an end! God has given me so much in the years that followed including grandsons, volunteer opportunities that I never could do when working as an RN, but most of all a new appreciation for ea and every day I have here on this earth. Faith is the only way to live – I don’t know how people get through difficult times without God. Praying 2012 is your turn around year. Blessing to you and your family in 2012.ReplyCancel

Happy New Year, Becca! I haven’t clicked yet, in fact I’m scared to death to do it. I lOVE this card!!! I’ve got some pretty cameo’s but not the rest of the items…and even if I went to just get those…well things tend to fall into my cart. So I’m trying very hard to be good…we’ll see how long that lasts! Hugs and hopes that 2012 will be a happy, healthy, productive year for all.

Happy New Year Becca. Gorgeous card. Love the scrumptious new JR dies and matching stamps. Hear we are in for another fabulous release from Spellbinders during Winter 2012 CHA. What possibly could they be adding to their repertoire. You probably already know. Just give us a hint, are they to die for????? May 2012 bring us as much if not more creative goodness to play with as we had this past year, and . . . . a larger bank account to purchase it all with. Wishing you all the happiness and prosperity throughout the coming year. Hugs,

I’m amazed, yes I am!!  You all have sure helped turn my week around. I got to play again today and it feels good to keep my hands busy. Believe me, I have lots of goodies that have piled up on my desk over the last several weeks, so I’m hoping to touch some of them and show you what’s new. I’m so excited about some of the new stamps and dies I’ve gotten my hands on, so get ready :-)  Today, a quick card using a sweet sentiment from Our Daily Bread DesignsLittle Things.

I made a small medallion using Spellbinders™ Tear Drop Circles followed by Spellbinders™ Labels Fourteen followed by Spellbinders™ Picot Edge Circles.  I felt my main panel was a little plain so I pulled out some Want2Scrap rhinestones and cut the circle in half putting them on each side of my sentiment – sparkly :-)  That’s all – a card done – little triumphs!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread DesignsLittle Things
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Cream, My Minds Eye
Ink: Palette – Burnt Umber, Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Tattered Rose Distress Ink
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Tear Drop Circles, Spellbinders™ Labels Fourteen, Spellbinders™ Picot Edge Circles, Want2Scrap Bling, Seam Binding, Spare Parts Brad,

I just wanted to let you all know that I do read your comments.  Reading through comments yesterday, I’m so humbled that some of you share your experience not only for me but for other readers too.  It’s helpful to me to know that others are going through trials, whether it is health, grieving, medical or just needing a friend.  Please know that I think about you even if I can’t seem to sit and respond to each comment individually.  Are you ready for a new year?  I can’t believe how incredibly fast 2010 2011 went by!   I would like to live 2012 and be in the moment rather than letting it live me or pass me by – how about you?  Whatever you want to achieve for 2012, I hope it involves something that brings joy to your heart.  You are such a blessing to me!

2012….Oh my gosh I hope it’s better than 2011. We lost Dons Mom to cancer in the spring. Don has also been working only parttime for most of the year, so money is tight! Did I say tight…it squeeks! Then I was very sick in July and August. They tell me I nearly died! So it took me quite a while to come back. But I did! I keep thinking God isn’t finished with me yet… I beat cancer almost 20 years ago and now this one didn’t get me either. So He must have big plans for me…or little plans that only I can manage with his love.
(I did have a bright spot or two this year…reconnecting with my oldest grandson, getting 2 more teenaged grandchildren from my son’s sweet girlfriend, and then she gave him the gift of our sweet little Mason, born on black friday! So I now have 9! Children, Grandchildren and one great grandaughter too! There is always beautiful within the ugly.)
I wish you the best year ever! Happy New Year!ReplyCancel

Our Becca is back and in full creative mode-woohoo!! I love both yesterday and today’s cards as they are absolutely gorgeous. I am praying 2012 is better for all of us. It has been a very difficult year for our family, our daughter-in-law had a difficult time with her pregnacy this spring but God sent us twins, both healthy, happy and such a blessing. My son and son-in-law are both out of work and are having a hard time finding jobs but the blessing from this is that our daughter, son-in-law and grandson are moving back here in February to be closer to family. My mother fell and broke her hip three days before her 97th birthday, the hip surgery was a big success but she ended up too weak to do the theraphy to get her back on her feet so she had to go to a nursing facility and isn’t doing well. Even though there have been many trials God has also sent blessings. We all need to look for the good things God grants us everyday even if they are small. Happy 2012!ReplyCancel

wonderful card, so glad you are feeling more upbeat. my DS will be headed back to school today, great to have him home for a few days. so i am anticipating a bit of a let down later on tonight.. my parents are still alive Thank God for HIs almighty mercies, but not in good health. my mother is my dad’s caretaker, the future looks bleak there, they are balanced on a knife’s edge of disaster. i have a chronic illness which tho not life threatening is certainly life altering, it will continue to worsen and i can see the effects, if not daily, continue to accumulate. and someday i will have to give up this hobby. i have crossed so many bridges in my mind (most have not even been built yet) and am yet never prepared for what actually happens. continue to trust in the Lord, give him praise and ask for his comfort for that is the only constant in life.ReplyCancel

Stunning is RIGHT!!! Glad you’re feeling better, Becca! ;~)
I had such an emotionally draining Holiday that I’ve been totally uncreative ever since Christmas Day! Hoping that will pass today as a dear friend who’s moving a state away is coming for maybe the last time in a long while with all on her plate now! We had only 5 extras for Christmas dinner, which was lovely, but having had 3 loved ones with surgeries the W, Th, Fri before Christmas literally drained me, I think. 1 ended up being cancelled — DD’s dear friend who was to have a single mastectomy on W found out at the hospital that AM that she’s pregnant — really exciting, but scary mixed bag of emotions there! They’d tried for nearly 2 years to conceive, so all this was quite a shock! The other 2 relatives are doing pretty well now, so lots of prayers going up for all we love to have a fabulous 2012, you included, of course!!!ReplyCancel

I’m new to your website, but I’m so blessed to read about your love for the Lord and see Him at work in you. He certainly has blessed you with a large share of his creativity!! Your cards are some of the most beautiful that I have ever seen, and thus I am inspired. That helps today when I need to make a very special sympathy card for our sister-in-law. My husband’s brother passed away suddenly yesterday afternoon, while riding his bike — his favorite thing to do! He’s with the Lord, but she must rely on the Lord especially just now. Thanks again.ReplyCancel

I love your cards and very envious of the supplies you have.

I know all about waiting for medical decisions and results. I went 11 months with indescribably head pain even after numerous tests and being passed from doctor to doctor as each one gave up trying to find the cause. I finally found a neurosurgeon willing to do exploratory brain surgery. The cause of my problem was so rare he had never seen it in 35 years of surgery…no wonder the other doctors couldn’t figure it out. So, hard as it is, be patient and trust in the Lord…as I know you do. I couldn’t have survived the pain without Him!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca…I hadn’t read your blog since June 30th. I saved every one, but have been busy with a dog that had to have 2 knee surgeries and lose 30 lbs in a month. He was a sad sight for several months, but is doing great now. I just got caught up with your posts last week.

I had to respond to this post. The message is something I am trying to teach a 6 yr old right now. She is the daughter of my son’s girlfriend. She has been thru a lot theis last yr and more big changes coming. I don’t know if she is spoiled, or something else, but everything out of her mouth is I hate this, or I hate that. I’ve about had it. I have been taking care of her during Christmas break because her mom and grandma both work. I will be keeping this scripture in mind, so I don’t totally lose it with her. Thank you for this post. I hope it helps it helps my sanity.ReplyCancel

It’s so good to hear you sounding chipper again. I know, from experience, that the pain can get you down, so down you think you can’t cope much longer. But…
God gave us all that little bit of extra strength to ‘just get us through’. So when its get too much for you, dig in and drag it out, kicking and screaming if you have to, and you’ll have just enough strength to see you through.
I may only know you through your blog, but I care enough for you my friend to hope that you find the right help and remedy very soon.
As to todays card, well what can I say but ‘so lovely’! Delicate, feminine and truly beautiful. Thank you.
Regards and prayers sent your way. Linda (S.Wales, Uk)ReplyCancel

2011 was a really tuff year for so many of us, but I have such a good feeling, that this year will get much much better. All this year ahs been bad health to both myself and so many great friends, I really pray, that this will be the year, where we´ll all turn to the positive side of life, and also you Becca, who´s always been such an inspiration to so many of us both in crafting but definitely also in life.
have a wonderful year and hopefully this will be the best ever for all of us. I´m sure, it will.ReplyCancel

Sweet blog friends, I can’t tell you how much your support means.  Life has changed for me so much and you are an absolute life line for me.  The value of a kind supportive word is priceless – I’m so grateful.  Hang in there with me, okay?  In the meantime, after months and months of Christmas cards, it was great to channel a little energy into something else.  Today I have a card made using a color combination I don’t think I would normally pick up, but it will go in my little inspiration book – this is how it played out in my mind.

Using another of the sentiments from this months Our Daily Bread Designs release called Simple Things – I layered Spellbinders™ Blossom Tags and Accents on top of Spellbinders™ Parisian Motifs.  That’s a new one for me – it just goes to show that even when you think there’s no other way to shuffle around the layers – the combinations are endless.  I topped off with Spellbinders™ Classic Circles LG and edged my bottom panel with Spellbinders™ Twisted Metal Tags and Accents that I cut in half to use as a border.  (Yep, I’ll be trying that again :-))

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread DesignsSimple Things
Paper: Glitz, Lilybee Design, Coredinations
Ink: Versafine – Vintage Sepia
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Twisted Metal Tags and Accents, Spellbinders™ Blossom Tags and Accents, Spellbinders™ Parisian Motifs, Spellbinders™ Classic Circles LG, Seam Binding, Satin Ribbon, Spare Parts Brad, Recollections Pearls

I had a doctors appointment today and waited for the doctor two and a half hours past my appointment time.  The crazy thing is that everyone in the waiting room was behind me in line and they waited patiently like this is how the world is supposed to work.  One man mused that this doctor had emergency surgery that cropped up every day during appointment time – at least four of the last five times he had visited.   As well as being armed with the kindness of your supportive words, God graced me with the patience of a saint today.  This was the first time visiting this doctor and he didn’t even pretend to be nice – I came away thinking he didn’t like his job.  All of Johns doctors were so nice such that if I ever ran into them in the grocery store, they would stand there and talk to me for a while.  Still trying to get cleared for foot surgery and insisting on answers, I’m pressing on!!  Big hugs, I’ll be back soon friends.

I am angry you had to wait so long for someone to take care of you. That is just sooo wrong. I just went off on a huge rant there and had to delete a bunch of stuff. So, consider yourself loved and hugged from afar. I think that will be more useful than a huge rant!!ReplyCancel

I really hope for you, that you´ll get your surgery very soon hun, and don´t mind that rude doctor. Don´t know why, but as soon as they call them self specialists, it´s almost like their words has to be law, and anybody who even think of asking questions to anything, is attacking them in person and doubting their amazing skills, even it has nothing to do with that. Just ignore him or ask if he´s having a bad day, cause it can´t be taken out on you. I diod that once, and funny enough, he then suddenly became quiet friendly and took the time to explain things. So just hang in and keep claiming some good answers as it´s your body and your life, he´s playing with, so you´re entitled to get some good answers, that´s for sure.
Your card is absolutely gorgeous hun and I just so love these colors here and how you used the dies. It looks awesome hun.
Have a wonderful day and a happy New Year hun and I´ll keep you in my prayers here, that you´ll very soon get your surgery and some relief.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, a beautiful card yet again and a lovely colour combination.
I have just “tuned in” after visiting my family for Christmas. I’m so sorry to hear how you are suffering still and will add you to my prayer list. (If only it could get shorter!!!!) I was a health care professional for nearly forty years before retiring, and sometimes I feel very ashamed of what is happening in the profession. The UK is no different. My husband had the very first appt of the morning 8:30 am and was 50 mins late going in. It would help if somebody came out and gave an update on the reason for the delay I think. Oh well, rant over! I hope things begin to resolve soon!

  • Ellen - CardMonkeyDecember 29, 2011 - 3:56 am

Dear Becca, as ever, your card is gorgeous and inspiring. Clearly, you have the patience of Job even in cardmaking, as I would never think to create and stack as many delicious layers as you use.

Your patience came in handy today at the doctor’s office. I empathize! I have one specialist just like that, I call him my “Mad Man of Neurology.” His staff typically amuse the waiting patients by calling us back one by one to take full histories, giving us the attention he doesn’t. Then, when it’s our turn to visit the Great Wizard behind the curtain, he sweeps in, stares at the computer where staff has entered your history, asks a few irrelevant questions and I doubt ever looks in my eyes or face. If I was wearing chewing gum on my nose, or painted my eyebrows purple, I doubt he’d notice. Trouble is, while his “bedside manner” is outrageous, he together with his staff have cured my migraines and saved my life at least once.

It’s been several years since I’ve seen him, luckily — his analytical skill and diagnostics have made it that way. I wish for you the same: ANSWERS. Treatment. Painlessness. Comfort. Consider your hours an investment in getting there.

We need you healthy and hale. Here’s to a swift journey to wellness, and a softer 2012.

    Fondly, Ellen ? CardMonkeyReplyCancel

This card is stunning, Becca! So sorry for you to have to endure such a long wait for medica care. Emergencies happen, overbooking also happens; a pleasant and caring attitude goes a long way when dealing with patients who have waited hours. Common civility…many in power seem to forget. sigh —– anyway – hope everything goes well for you.

Your card is wonderful. You always think outside the box when it comes to using Nesties. I’m sorry you had to endure a long wait for the doctor. I hope he will find answers for you quickly so you don’t have to endure the wait or the doctor’s rudeness. Just take your inspiration book with you to plan out some wonderful cards or print out some of these comments while you wait – the doctor obviously doesn’t have the strong support system you have. Hang in there. I hope 2012 will be much better for you.ReplyCancel

I have yet to tackle trying to tie the beautiful bows that you make. I’m starting to make the hat pins because of your inspiration but want to wait to use them w/the bows.

Prayers are with you as you endure the doctor circuit. God bless the kind, caring and compassionate ones that are left in this world!! I broke both of my feet and had wonderful podiatrists. So funny I am trying to bring in that blueish color into my living/dinning, I got my daughter a sofa a few years back the same blueish kept the loveseat now she has them both, and My couch is the color of your accents, I just told her to bring over her table cloth so I could see if I can use blueish in my place. I just find the color so calm to work in. So I guess now I’ll be working more on making it work.
love love your card, I had to swing over to spellbinders and look at the Twisted Metal Tags and Accents to see how you did that , Very cleaver.I have a doctor like that to have to see him twice a year , 5 min. of his time 3 hours of mine. . I hope that you are able to find the answers to your health issures and are able to find a doctor that you love to deal with ( thats important) but sometimes thats not the way it works.

Becca! I guess I’m not the only one then! We once sat in a doctors office, with our kids; They were not on their med’s either…for 3 hours!!!!!!! It was a little exam room & it got hot! We opened the door thinking we had been forgotten! She was at the hospital! NO ONE told us! I changed doctors! Those doctors forget, your time is valueable too! But, I do have to say, I have a hard time even choosing doctors!!!!!! ( I tend to find the WORST!!!) I always find out later I REALLY don’t like them! The stories I could tell!!!!!!!!!! I’m ready to find myself another doctor now! When I was pregnant with my first child, I read an article about Interviewing Your Childs’ Doctor! Basically, it was a Job Interview for the doctor! Well, that didn’t go over well! The doctor basically snickered at me the whole time! ( I used questions from the Magazine article too! ) Needless to say, he DIDN’T get the job! Well, I am thinking to use the same method this time to find myself a doctor! Although, I don’t remember those questions! But, I’m thinking of giving it a try!

BEAUTIFUL card Becca! I LIKE the color combination!!!!!!!!!!! And of course, all those BEAUTIFUL layers!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You NEVER let us down!!!!! :)ReplyCancel

Oh, Becca! Nothing worse than being caught in “the health care merry-go-round”–drs. appts. almost daily, no decisions made, waiting, referrals. I have personally changed doctors because of waiting times, and my current doctor has a maximum of 5 minutes waiting time. But that’s impossible to do at the specialist level…You can force your doctor to interact with you, but then you get labeled as a “problem patient,” and all your reasonable requests are dismissed as you have that label. Great patience and saintly restraint are called for. Praying for you to receive both. Incidentally, I love the color combination here. Blue/aqua and a darkish neutral are always a hit.ReplyCancel

Becca, your card and those colors are FABULOUS!!! LOVE it all, including the duo-color bow!!!
Hope whatever doctor you choose for surgery is well-skilled in his craft, even IF he has no bedside manner. Hopefully you can take something beautiful to work on while you wait endlessly in their waiting rooms!ReplyCancel

  • JessicaDecember 29, 2011 - 8:53 am

I love this card Becca! Of course I love them all…but this color combo is just gorgeous! I wouldn’t have put them together either. Tell me…when you decide on what dies to use, do you play with the dies or do you have cuts for them all that you play with the layering? I think it would be easier to see what it would really look like with the actual cuts. But then, I don’t have your wonderful eye!
As for the uncaring doc…my last back surgery was done by a man with the bedside manor of a squid. When, after a couple of months of continuing pain, I went back, he told me…”I can’t do anything more for you, you’re wasting your money and my time.” And walked out of the room! So…yep if/when I need to see another doctor…it won’t be him. It’s a shame that these men become so good at what they do, that they forget that we and they are human beings! Good luck with your foot surgery! Lots of hugs

In the world of fibromyalgia there is never answer for our pain there is just pain and with all the time lost there is suffering who just build up inside of us.
The relation with doctors are very difficult because he is confronted to his limits. He is frustrated and he have no time to give attention at those multiple problems.
By chance we can put our attention on something else like the beauty of your work. At the end of the day when it is to difficult there is memory of something good I have received and it make a difference.
I hope so much you will find the help you need because we need you to.
I like the multiple layers and the tricky touches you give to spellbinder.

Becca, what a beautiful card and the sentiment is one of my favorites. I hear you when you talk about doctors and waiting and them thinking the they know everything. I been there and done that and still doing it. But I just keep saying to myself – on day at a time – that is now easy when you are active like you and me and many of our other crafters. We have to keep moving and we can be patient which I am not. I want it now. I’ll keep praying for you and keep sending those beautiful cards and ideas. Love them all.

    Hugs and God Bless

I have to see a lot of doctors, so I understand. There is at least one that I refuse to see again, just rude! Can you pick another? A good rapport with your doctor is important to healing! You were patient, but I got angry for you! LOL!ReplyCancel

Oh Becca I know what u are going through. I just had a test that included injecting me with radioactive dye and taking pictures of my back. Have been in so much pain I can not stand, sit or walk far. OUCH!! I too have had to wait for an orthopiedic doc for over 2 hrs. He was in emergency surgery. He is so good I waited. God granted me grace that day! Now I am waiting to possibly get an injection in my spine. Not sure if I will have it done or not. ??? Want to know what they will put in there. I am trusting in the Lord to guide me right now. Nothing else I can do. We be praying for you. Please pray for me also? TY. evetteReplyCancel

I went to an ER at 8pm and waited untill 7am to see a dr for 5 min. I was told that i couldn’t leave as that would be going against dr’s orders and my insurance wouldn’t pay anything. I had an EKG and hadn’t seen any dr when I was told this. People were sleeping in the waiting room. I think they only had one dr working that night and they had a code. They should have had another dr on call to come in. It was inexcusable!! I was so mad. My daughter was with me and she went out to her car and slept. I called her about 8 am that I was done.ReplyCancel

I had a doctor many years ago that was running very late for his appointments. When he entered the room the first thing he said was, “Now you know why we call you patients (play on words – patience). I sometimes think that doctors feel that our time is not valuable. My Mom who at the time was 102 fussed at a doctor who was late for her appointment and she told him that she didn’t know how much time she may have left in this world and she didn’t want to spend it in his office. He was dumb struck and apologized. You are in my prayers. Keep that beautiful chin up.ReplyCancel

Love the colour combo on this card and the lovely punched suede pieces. Great card. Sorry to hear the doctor’s office was such a pain. I have actually left an office for an hour to run some errands and then returned when the wait was too long, and always take a book with me now as it can be a blessed little time of solitude with my nose in a book. Hope clearance for foot surgery and answers to your hip pain come to fruition soon (((hugs))).ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca!

This is so gorgeous! I love browns and teals/blues together and a touch of cream! It gives a nice masculine feel to it. The Spellbinder dies combos ARE endless, the only limitation I have is my funds, lol! I just got 2 new dies and I’m having fun playing around with them. Right now I am working on my round 2 submission for their DT, (amazingly!!!) there are SO many possiblities to choose from!!! So much amazing talent submitting with me, Yikes! Not sure how far I will go, but God’s in charge and I’ll go about as far as He wants me to and that’s okay with me! :-)

I feel for you and those inconsiderate doctors out there. Some can be SO nice, and then there are others that are a wee bit arrogant. I have an appointment today with one who is ALWAYS late, (I have to see him every 6 weeks, ugh) so I’ve learned to brings my IPad, a book, water, etc. with me, lol. At least he’s not that arrogant as some are though!

I hope things are going okay with you. I’ve been following you for a long time and know you’ve been through a lot. I have had my fill of heartbreak the past couple of years myself. I think of you often and pray. You are a wonderful inspiration for me. Blessings!

It is so hard to walk and talk like a Christian sometimes. Especiallly when we are tired and emotionally stressed. Next time you have to deal with a rude doctor, shock the good into them by giving them a great big ol’ hug. Bet that would shame them into a better bed side manner and they sure as the dickens would remeber you next time. LOL As usual, love your card, you can come and decorate my house anytime you like… if you are not an interior decorator, you might should consider this as a side line. : ) All my best…. you are blessed….. you have friends too numerious to count….. I love your card and choice of color combination. I am loving the ODBD Simple Things stamps and will need to add them to my collection-LOL.
I am sorry to hear about your experience with your new doctor, he definitely didn’t make a good first impression and I hope his attitude changes before your next visit. I will continue to keep you in my prayers as I consider you a friend even though we haven’t met in person!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca…lovely card today, as always. I would just like to chime in (being the spouse of a physician) that the majority of people have no idea what goes on in a doctor’s office behind the front door. There are a myriad of very good reasons why a doctor runs behind schedule on any given day at any given time. That, of course, in no way excuses rude behavior. I will hold you in my prayers and pray your next experience will be more positive.ReplyCancel

  • GlendaDecember 29, 2011 - 1:29 pm

Oh Becca, I do hope you read this. I am catching up on my email. When you are waiting that long to see a doctor and he ends ups nice or not so nice (as surgeons can be) this falls into my category of “I need you more than you need me”. And you keep telling yourself this rather than checking your watch. You know what time you got there so you can check your watch when they stick you in that little room to wait some more and then you can check it again when you are finally finished and get a whiff of the outside air once again! I do not live in the US but if you were very unsatisfied with either the doctor or the information you received I would not devote too many more hours but move on and try another unless this doctor is a miracle worker and that is what you need. He never apologized for the wait did he? The only other advise, IF possible pick the very first appointment of the day even if it means you have to get up at 5 am to get there – LOL! Or try and ask how appointments go with his surgical schedule – which may or may not be received well. But remember it is ALWAYS the case that “you will need them more than they need you”.
Then come home and create another masterpiece such as this! I love the twisted metal accent edge!ReplyCancel

I watched a segment on the national news one evening and a doctor was interviewed. He admitted that he treated patients as numbers until his own wife became ill and he suddenly realized how important it was to treat each of his patients as if they were a member of his family … showing kindness, offering words of support and taking the time to visit and answer their questions. He’s the minority, unfortunately.ReplyCancel

I love the color combination…but then I like shades of brown and tans…Also just wanted to let you know that sometimes they have no answers…I spent 8 days in the hospital this month and still had to answers before I left…I ended up with CO poisoning and no reason how or why it looked like my feet had died…they soon found out that I had feeling the hard way…by body swelled up with water…you get the picture…I was given a IV form of a water pill, and from the time they weighed me in the bed til now have lost 67 lbs…not a great weight loss method…I maybe on oxygen for the rest of my life…do not know…hopefully answers in Jan…so like you would like answers and you would think they have them, but they sometimes do not…they have decided that I am a medical mystery, as every time they thought they had a answer, my body through a wrench into the works…had a Dr. say to my Nurse you hate to tell a patient they are interesting, but boy she is interesting…so carry on and get those answers…take care…..ReplyCancel

Dear Becca, so sorry to hear your health problems persist. I guess none of us expects to have perfect health all the time. But, it does add comfort to have health providers who both care and who are competent. Seems you’ve got problems on all fronts. I continue to pray that you begin to see success in your journey back to good health.

With all your health challenges, I am continually amazed that you can dip into your depleted energy and come up with yet another remarkable card. It is absolutely beautiful.

One of the nicest things about life, no matter how bad things are or how good things are, it won’t last for long. Change is part of life and you will get through this.ReplyCancel

First, your card is totally stunning. I love the color combo and I was thinking what did she use for a border?? I don’t recognize that die…Twisted Metal tags!! You are so very very clever!!
Now about the Dr, while there can be reasons for such a horrific wait, it you don’t like him to boot?! Is there a specific reason that you were referred to him? Is he supposed to be the best for your problem? Is there anyone else that you could see? Is there a Dr that you trust that you could ask about this one? The reason that I ask these questions is I have 2 experiences with Dr’s like the one you describe. The one was very positive in the end. Yes he’s always late, no I don’t really like him, personally…however he is a brilliant surgeon…the other one the same on the first 2 items, but he was NOT brilliant in the operating room, in fact he darn near killed a friend of mine…everyone I know has been warned about this clown. You keep asking questions Becca! You deserve the best, we certainly want you to have it, we need our Becca fixes!! Keeping you in my thoughts. And wishing and hoping that 2012 will be a much better year for all of us.
    With crossed fingers,

Becca, Thank you for sharing your gorgeous card with us. You are such an inspiration to me. Not just in your talent, but in the way you accept whatever life brings you. I’m sure it’s not easy, but you take it with such “grace”. You’re quite a LADY!!! I think the longest I’ve ever waited for a Dr. to see me, was four hours and fort-five minutes. I know the nurse put me in “that little room”, and forgot about me. When the Dr.(an OBGYN ) came in, I was putting on my clothes to leave. He didn’t offer any excuses. I told him I would never come back, that my time was valuable too, and I haven’t! Maybe the next time you see your specialist, he’ll be having a better day. I hope that he is a remarkably wonderful surgeon, that can make you all better quickly! If you’re not impressed when you see him again, maybe God wants you to find someone else. I so wish you good health and happiness in the new year! I’m still keeping you in my prayers! Love and hugs, Patty W.ReplyCancel

I think surgeons are all anti-social. They must be better when we are asleep. I need hip replacements and my surgeon seems hardly capable of making conversation at all. I sympathize!
I love the colours on the card. So not Christmas!

I do love your card today. I understand about the doctor waiting time. I used to work for a doctor who was consistently late with clinic but he actually would sit and listen if you wanted to talk. What a difference! Patients felt it made sense and he was and still is successful. All it takes is a little kindness. I hope all goes well for you. I know it can be really trying when you are not at your best. Hugs and prayers for you!ReplyCancel

    Becca,
I developed a rare life threatening illness 10 years ago and became disabled because of it. The disease is rare and it has been a long painful journey finding a medical team that understood how to work as a team. When I started out I saw doctors as God. Now I see them as team members, who must be able to talk to me and talk to the other team members. I have fired docotors and will not hesitate to do it in the future. Emergencies do happen and I see those as out of the doctor’s ability to control. BUT the staff has the responsibility to keep you informed and let you know when he is expected back-so you can get other things done while waiting or they need to rechedule. I also always take projects that I can work on while I am waiting-such as coloring-I plan ahead to minimize tools needed.

I have also learned to ask for itemized bills and challenge them when necessary.

The current team consists of the National Health Institue (NIH) and over 10 specialists locally and a specialist in NYC. They are a great team and repect the knowledge base I have gained through the years. They see me as an “expert” also. Both of my children have spent a lot of time in the local Children’s hospital. They treated me as an important member of the team there also. You can get a working team, but it takes time and you have to get comfortable with feeling OK with firing doctors that have a God complex. There are awesome doctors out there who understanding they are PRACTICING medicine, so therefore they do not have all the answers but are willing to learn. And believe me we are constantly learning about my Behcets which is complicated with 23 other diseases. Even lyesterday we had another learning round with the chemo I am getting. If it can go wrong it will, lol.

I have also found being able to laugh and looking at the disease as a gift from God that has opened up other doors really helps. My ex left me shortly after becoming ill. But due to the disability I have been able toi be a stay at home Mom for my teenage boys. They have learned to be compassionate towards those with disabilities and have become awesome adults.

Hang in there. My prayers are with you! If you need to talk feel free to contact me and I will give you my phone number.ReplyCancel

    Becca,
Oh my these colors and papers are simply gorgeous together. Add in you creativeness, and it is just stunning. Love the sentiment. As for your doctor appt., I think there are a lot of surgeons’ who are very good at what they do and actually love what they do but who lack people skills . Their true love and best qualities actually shine thru in the OR. That is why after the original discussion of what he can or cannot do for you, he/she turns the pre-op and post-op over to the PA’s. I know a little about this, because my son-in-law is an Orthipedic PA in Emergency and OR. Like you, I am always more comfortable with someone who is personable and likeable. But that does not mean that they are necessarilly the best in their field. It just means that it puts me more at ease.

These are some of my favorite colors and you have done an outstanding job of layering them – what a beautiful card.
Hang in there with the doctors….this is a very busy time of year as everyone tries to use up spending accounts or squeeze in things before their new deductibles kick in. That said, if his manner doesn’t improve I would move on. After surgery on my right shoulder and real disappointment I moved on to a new Doc on my left and was much happier and he was much better. God Bless.ReplyCancel

I simply adore this card, the colors are so gorgeous together, the borders are so creative and adore the simple quote.. the bow and colors of the ribbons add so much to the card… This card is fabulous!!
As far as the doctor goes, I would never wait 2 1/2 hours for a new doctor then to have a rotton attitude on top I would never go see him again.. no one deserves a doctor with bad bedside manners.. If he is tired, then he should not be seeing patients outside of the hospital and if he is like that all the time, he should not be a doctor… Find yourself another doctor Becca… There are better ones out there… more compassionate ones who will help you and answer your questions… God Bless
