Die Template Dimensions

Lattice Dress: 1 7/8 x 2 ¼”

Plain Dress Form: 1 ¾ x 3 1/8”

Swirled Dress: 1 ¾ x 3 1/8”

For my project today, I was thrilled to use these super cute dies for a girly card – you can never have enough of those, right?  I’m a seamstress too, so I was tickled to see these dies come along.  Using JustRite Stampers Vintage Wallpaper Background stamp  I created a background by embossing on black with cream embossing powder so that the negative part of the pattern would pop.  On top of that I layered Spellbinders™ Labels Twenty matched with JustRite Stampers Musical Notes Labels Twenty followed by two layers of Spellbinders™ Lacey Circles with my sentiment from JustRite Stampers 2″ Old Friends. I cut/embossed two of the dress forms and snipped off the top of the lacey dress form to create a flirty apron, that I layered on top of the dress form.  The stand for the dress form was created using Spellbinders™ Elegant Posts!  I finished off the bottom using Spellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities and smudged distress ink along the outsides of all my edges.

Oh the girly gifts that are swirling around my head!!

SUPPLIES I USED

The little touches like tilt of the dress form and the ribbon around the waste are wonderful. I especially like the layered dress form/skirt. I seem to forget that we don’t “have to” use the dies as they are presented. This is a beautiful card!ReplyCancel

Good morning dear blog friends!  There’s lots to cover today so here’s the short version —
a card and matching box and a video to show you how, a new background stamp, questions about paper for the honeycomb ornament and a surprise tonight at midnight — read my entire post to get all the details!   Okay, now the long version, lol!!  I have a project to show today and a video to accompany it, that I’ve been trying to get to since the beginning of October.   It feels great to have it done!  Remember the Hexagon Box I made last month?  Since it was very clean and simple, today I’ve gussied it up and given it a vintage flavor using some of my favorite Romantique Prima paper.

The hexagon box allows for so much embellishment that I just know it will be my “go to” box for a while to come.  I know I’ve mentioned that I love for the box to be a part of the gift and I don’t want them to be tempted to throw it away.  It feels sturdy so I know it can be used for other things after the gift is removed.  The best part of the box is that the walls of the box lend themselves so stamping and especially using borders.  I’m using a new background stamp by JustRite Stampers, the Scrolled Vine Background Stamp.  I’m a background stamp kind of girl, so I stamped the Scrolled Vine Background stamp right on top of some subtle paper to get the effect I wanted for both the card and the box.

Now the box is made using Spellbinders™ Hexagon Petal Envelope and I added embellishment using Spellbinders™ Hexagon Petal Envelope and Spellbinders™ Foliage.   For my card, many of the details match – I used Spellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities layered in between my lace and the flower is Spellbinders™ Spiral Blossom One backed by Spellbinders™ Picot Edge Circles and embellished with Spellbinders™ Foliage.  Here’s detail from the top of the box.

Here’s a step by step video to guide you through the process of making your own!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite StampersScrolled Vine Background Stamp, Kindness Set
Paper: Prima Romantique, Neenah Classic Crest Cream, Bazzill, PTI Autumn Rose
Ink: Versafine Vintage Sepia, Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Hexagon Petal Envelope,
Spellbinders™ Spiral Blossom OneSpellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities, Spellbinders™ Foliage, Spellbinders™ Picot Edge Circles, Clear Embossing Powder, Pearl Pic, Hug Snug Seam Binding, Bead Landing Finding, Lace, pink chalk pencil

I’m going to have to get used to the video processing time now that I’ve moved to HD, yikes!!  With my flip video it used to take 8 minutes max to render the video, now it takes two hours to send to my computer and about 45 minutes to upload to YouTube!  I’m shortening the learning curve but my brain is aching, lol!!   For those of you who are interested in doing the Honeycomb Ornament tutorial, many have emailed me to say they are having trouble finding paper.  Apparently the paper I’ve used is no longer stocked at Hobby Lobby.  I’m soooo sorry – I’ve seen that type of paper at art stores but I live in a small city and would not have a clue where to find it if not at Hobby Lobby.  As an alternative, I’ve recommended any double sided paper that is not thicker than typing paper – I believe that Close To My Heart has or used to have a text weight double sided paper.  If not, try book pages, like those from an old vintage dictionary, magazine pages, brayered or stamped printer paper or wrapping paper.  These should all be thin enough to do the trick!!

I hope you can stop by and see me tomorrow :-)  I’ll have the opportunity with a group of designers, to reveal a seriously cute, new Spellbinders Die that you’ve never seen before!  As you know, no reveal comes without the chance to win something very cool so the fun starts at Midnight EST.

Becca you have done it again! Amazed me with your beautiful creations!!!!
The card is gorgeous and the box is outstanding! I can also picture the box as a Christmas Box with cosmetics, lotions or chocolates inside for someone special and on the top instead of the Roses you could have Poinsettias and Christmas ribbons….wouldn’t that be beautiful too? Unfotunately I don’t have the Spellbinders Die that is required or I would have a go right now! Thank you for another ‘Becca Special’.

Hi there blog friends!!  Remember the Honeycomb Ornament I made last year using the Spellbinders Ornament die template?  This year Spellbinders released the 2011 Heirloom ornament and with Christmas around the corner I created a tutorial on how to make your own.  Several of you have asked for a step by step and a video and you’ve got it.  I was honored when Splitcoaststampers asked me to submit those for their site – you can see the step by step tutorial and list of products needed at this link:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/honeycombornament/

In the meantime, for those of you who like videos – have a look see here!

I’m quietly working in the background on projects (insert mischievous grin here).  I hope you enjoy the tutorial, there are more on the way!!

My nephew is a U of WA grad and purple and gold are the school colors. I thought he would love getting an ornament using this gorgeous paper! I know you mentioned Hobby Lobby. Hi Becca

Amazed that after years of browsing the internet I have only today discovered you through Splitcoaststampers. Your site is amazing and your creativity is inspiring. I too, as another commenter mentioned loved the paper you used. We fortunately do have a Hobby lobby here but I wasn’t able to find anything double sided that I thought was thin enough. Is there anything else you can me? Did it come in a pack? Was it with the scrapbook paper etc…. Anything information is appreciated.

Signed up for your emailings and am looking forward to what is to come

  • GG Judy JacksonNovember 14, 2011 - 4:16 am

Loved it. Don’t have this die yet so I checked out another of your ornament videos. I also don’t have the Fluer De Lis Motif but found the Flur De Lis square (S4-318) works just as well using the 3 embossed markings on the center of each side. I used the largest die (#4) in white and #2 for the center in silver patterened wrapping paper. I cased your video to make a topper for the square metal tin, then threaded a large ribbon with glittered snowflakes thru the lid and bottom so the tin could be hung on a tree until Christmas morning. One of my more eyecatching gift card holders! My SU demonstrator takes pic and uploads for me at times so If you want to see it, let me know. (GG stands for great grandma; as apposed to the talented Judy Jackson of the TJ magazine). Thank you for all your creative ideas.ReplyCancel
