Good Monday morning friends!   Well today “Should Do” and I had a little talk.  It seems that “Should Do” doesn’t feel like it’s been getting enough attention.  I felt overwhelmed by this accusation and looked back for support from “Wanna Do”  whose arms were crossed doing anything not to meet my gaze.  In the meantime,  “Gotta Do” was absolutely glaring at me with those piercing eyes.  Ugh . . . they all have quite the competition in my house and I have to admit that “Wanna Do” has been getting an awful lot of my time.  (Rolling eyes). . . they.are.so.needy!!   All that to say, I have a quick card today, but “Should Do” kept interrupting me to the point I probably got rude and as we speak is in the corner pouting.  “Gotta Do” has finally made me feel so guilty that we’re going to spend some alone time together this afternoon.  “Wanna Do” is gloating as I post this card.  So, I’ll run through this quickly so that I can get on with my appointment with “Should Do” and “Gotta Do”.  Oh the characters at my house . . . (Smile)

My card today is Mojo 203.  I pulled out one of my new Our Daily Bread Design sentiments to show off – this one is called Sewn with Love.  Lol, I’ll never give up regular paper, after all then, what could I hoard????  But . . . I pulled one of the journal pages off of the Crafty Secrets Creating with Vintage Patterns CD using Photoshop Elements 9 and printed it to my color inkjet printer for an easy background then built the rest of my colors around that page.  (I erased the journal lines using my clone tool but in retrospect it probably would have looked charming to have left them in.)  My card is 5.5″ x 7.5″ and the journal page is printed out at 5″ x 7″ because I like big cards . . . it’s just as easy to print this element out at 4″ x 6″ or at 3″ x 5″ :-)   Just sayin’

I use Photoshop for most of my editing and pictures but for digital papers Elements makes it so easy; it has an organizer that I just love and all that without the Photoshop price tag.

I stamped my sentiment on Spellbinders Labels Twenty Two, omitting the word “heart” (it was too long), then added a punched heart to get my thought across.  I smudged the sentiment with Tattered Rose Distress ink while still in the die.  The journal page really carries the card because the only other things I added were lace, seam binding and pearls.  I love a quick card on Mondays!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Sewn with Love
Paper: Crafty Secrets Creating with Vintage Patterns CD, Bazzill
Ink: Versafine – Onyx Black, Tattered Rose Distress Ink
Accessories: Spellbinders Labels Twenty Two, Lace, Seam Binding, Pearls, Heart Punch

Thanks so much for stopping by.   I’ve cleared off enough of a space on my craft table that I’m actually looking forward to sitting for a spell :-)  See you tomorrow.

    Becca,
This is so Beautiful. Oh, those characters in your house… LOL! Can you believe that the same trio lives in my house, too? And they just NEVER get along!

Love your background from the CD! What a great idea to use a journalling page (which I usually wouldn’t know what to do with) as a backdrop for other elements on the card. This is a great reminder that a decorative paper doesn’t always have to be an all-over pattern.ReplyCancel

I just about fell off my chair laughing when I read about those three pesky personalities you live with and you caught in the middle trying to appease everyone. I’m know them all intimately, but never heard it described like that. I’m still laughing.

I’m delighted that you and Wanna Do spent time together this morning, because the result is stunning. I just adore what you two put together. It’s a real charmer. What a team!

I must order that CD, I’ve been procrastinating and Should Do is really cheesed off with me.

Thanks for your entertaining and informative post today. I know I’ll be rereading it.ReplyCancel

I definitely know the feeling of “Should Do” & “Gotta Do” lately. Just so much “To Do’s”, I feel a little overwhelmed. Hubby has been feeling poorly for a few months, and I have been trying to do what I usually take care of as well as covering for alot of his chores. It is starting to consume me. Hope the old Doc finds out what is causing it and hopefully we will get him back on track. Meanwhile I have a huge list of “Must do’s”.
Just love your card. It is so pretty. Don’t you just love this journal page. It is one of my favorites off the CD, ( I just think this CD is one of the best buys I purchased in a long time). Thank you so much for stopping by friends!  Yesterday so many of you left comments as a testimony, of a friend or a loved one stricken with cancer.  My heart goes out to you, God bless you!  It seems as though no one is untouched by this dreadful disease.  I’m so proud to participate with JustRite Stampers in JustRite Crafting for a Cause.

JustRite Crafting For a Cause

In an effort to find an early diagnostic test or screening tool for Ovarian Cancer, JustRite Crafting For a Cause will donate 20% of the sales from Be Strong and Courage and Strength in 2011 to Ovarian Cancer Research.  To learn more about the symptoms of this “silent killer “ visit www.OvarianCancer.org.

The second of the two Crafting for a Cause sets, that I’m showing today is called Be Strong.  As I mentioned yesterday, it is JustRite’s first set of clear stamps.  This set, like most you’ve seen over the past years was designed by JustRite’s stamp illustrator, Amy Tedder.  This cause is near and dear to her heart as she is a six year Ovarian Cancer survivor.  I hope you’ll take a second and read her story HERE.

I designed a card today around the teal ribbon which corresponds with ovarian cancer.   One of my favorite new dies is Spellbinders Postage Stamp; used along with Spellbinders Classic Squares LG, I think it makes such a unique frame.  I know I’ll get emails about this, so I’ll whisper what I did if you promise not to tell, lol!  The frilly, lacey die inside the postage stamp is really Spellbinders Holly Motif – I simply cut off the small holly leaves to show you that it’s going to be a dazzling holiday die cut but with use of your handy, dandy exacto knife you’ll be able to to put it other uses too.  On top of those two elements I cut/embossed Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG for my focal stamped element.  Along the bottom of the card I had what I thought to be an unlikely pairing however once they were cut (using Spellbinders Classic Scallop and Classic Petal Edgeabilities) I simply loved the combination.  Although I already had a lot of edge treatments, I couldn’t resist one more so I added in a panel of scallops that seemed like a great place to lay a row of lace.  Whew!!  Although today I used teal and yesterday pink, take a gander at all the list of ribbon colors below

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite Stampers – Be Strong
Paper: The Girls Paperie, The Paper Company, Pink Paislee
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Prussian Blue, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories: Spellbinders Holly Motif, Spellbinders Postage Stamps, Spellbinders Classic Scallop Edgeabilities, Spellbinder Classic Petal Edgeabilities, Spellbinders Classic Squares LG, Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG, Eggshell seam binding, lace, pearls,

Thanks so much for stopping by!!  I have some Becca Bits in the works so stop by again soon.  In the meantime, please stop by and see what the rest of the Design Team have created!

What a wonderful set to celebrate survivors and those battling this terrible disease! It seems so many of us know someone dealing with cancer. In fact there is one couple in my church who are both battling different forms of cancer currently. I lost my father in 1994 to lung cancer. So many things have changed/advanced since that time. It is my sincere prayer that one day we will find the cure for cancer. In my father’s case I know he has gone on and has a wonderful cancer free “new body.” Thanks so much for sharing your creative talents Becca! You never cease to inspire and motivate! My sister has a very rare form of cancer called Carcinoid. Their color, or colors are Zebra stripes. She wears one of those rubbery bracelets with the Zebra stripes on it. They chose that for their emblem because no two carcinoid patients are exactly alike… just like Zebras. Perhaps your contact could add that to their list to raise awareness for this always fatal form of cancer. Chemo and radiation are not effective against it and the medication is not approved by insurance companies because it is so rare, yet it costs about $2000 a month. Thank God they have a small support group so they don’t think they are crazy as well as very ill. It took my sister many painful years to get a proper diagnosis (which is usually the case) and when she did they had to remove one lung. Since their is no cure, the averagel lifespan of a Carcinoid patient, once diagnosed, is seven years. Thank you for being part of this awareness… now you are even more aware.ReplyCancel

Thank you for sharing this – Little did I know that even prostate cancer had a ribbon. My DH is scheduled for an operation next month and the waiting is SOOO difficult. Luckily he should have been diagnosed early – as he had NO idea and no symptoms – but was caught in a blood test screening. In some trange way this made it even more difficult to grasp that he was ill, as he feels no different today than the day before all the tests – apart from all the worrying and thinking that is….. We work hard on thinking positive thoughts and believing that the doctors will be able to remove it – as it has not yet spread outside the prostate gland. FIngers crossed and prayers said we look forward to good news in early September. As you write above – seems like everyone is affected by cancer !!!ReplyCancel

What a gorgeous card for a wonderful cause. I did not know that there were ribbons for so many different cancers. I guess I need to get a green one, I had kidney cancer twice. I had a whole kidney removed and part of the other one removed also. I need a ribbon of honor as a replacement. I am cancer free, thank you God. One of my best friends just found out that her son has a tumor that is all over his brain. He desperately needs prayer. he needs a miracle in a bad way. This is indeed an atrocious disease that so many people are touched by. We need awareness anywhere we can find it. Thank you Just Right, I am going to purchase for the cause.ReplyCancel

It is heart breaking to read some of the stories, praying for a cure! As with sympathy cards it is so sad to need to make a card for someone battling this devil. As always your card is stunning. I love how you pull all the various elements together. I am sure it will warm the heart of anyone receiving it.

It was love at first sight when I saw your most recent creation. The whole effect is stunning but it’s the layering with the holly accents that just knocks my socks off. You sure have the touch, the vision, my blog-friend.

Heartbreaking to hear the stories of so many afflicted with this cruel illness. Great strides have been made in research, but it is of little comfort to those suffering or the loved ones of those who lost their battle. Every September, we walk in the Terry Fox Run to raise funds for cancer research. What we raise is less than a drop in the ocean. When all the little drops are put together, it becomes a force. Every day, we inch closer to a full cure.ReplyCancel

Your card is soooooooo gorgeous Becca. I really love, how you´ve done all these different layers on it, and the stamp is awesome, and for such a wonderful cause. I´m definately going to order this set, as a cure can´t be found fast enough, so all the help they can have is wonderful. My dad is one of 12 siblings, of which the 8 is now dead from intestine cancer, and 2 more has been throug surgery too. My mum died of loungecancer 3 years ago just before christmas, and my mother in law from stomack cancer 10 years ago, and 2 sister in laws havve had surgery for breastcancer, and I´ve had cellchanges myself twice the last 5 years, so I´m going to an anual control too, so we sure have had our share of cancer in my family. So I can´t plead hard enough, that people will support such a worthy case here, and I´m so grateful to both you and Justd Rite for doing such an awesome work here to get the message out and all your wonderful support. Thanks so very much to both of you for what you´re doing. It´s truely amazing, and your card here is just such a stunning creation to show this of. I just love it.ReplyCancel

Such important images and such a lovely card. My dad died of Mesothelioma– also an incurable cancer. He was diagnosed and within 3 1/2 weeks, he had passed. He and my mom missed their 50th by less than 2 months. I get really angry often when I see ads on tv for attorneys offering their “services” for victims of this cancer. I would so prefer that any money available go to further research for a cure. When we first heard the word cancer, I had hope because there are so many positive results these days. Learning there was no chance of a cure was so hard. I have lost 2 other friends to incurable cancers. Any money for research to help save lives is so critical. Thanks for the awareness.ReplyCancel

Another Becca masterpiece!!! I don’t have my new dies yet, but when I was ordering the holly motif set, I thought of the same thing – cutting off the holly. Maybe I have been following you long enough that I am starting to think like you do. This is one of my favorite cards. Love the design, and just love this stamp set. It is beautiful. I think we all know someone that has been diagnosed with this dreadful desease unfortunately.

After having a double mastectemy for breast cancer and then have my right kidney removed for renal cell carcinoma I am now going in to have a lung biopsy for a tumor on the left lung this coming week. So far I am doing great ‘Praise the Lord’. Maybe this time they will find it to be benign. My heart goes out to all those who are battling ovarian cancer. I pray for cures for all these cancers.

Hi Becca, as always another beautiful creation and for such a great cause. I lost my grandmother on Canadian boxing day (Dec. 26, 1988) of ovarian cancer. She lived for Christmas so I know the lord let her be with us for one more, she was diagnosed Christmas Eve of same yr and given 8 to 10 wks I believe it was, I still miss her alot. My grandfather died of cancer that was everywhere less than a yr after he had a cancerous mole removed from his back in 2006. He was my best friend and I miss him daily. Father in law was never sick a day in the 26 yrs I knew him, suddenly he fell ill and was gone in 5 months with brain, lung and bone cancer. This is just the tip of the iceburg for me, the people nearest and dearest that I have lost to this horrid disease. I pray to god something will be done to stop cancer in its tracks and sooner than later. God bless everyone that has been touched by cancer in one way or another and ty Becca and JustRite for supporting a cause that is so devastatingly wide spread.

I was lucky when I found my ovarian cancer early, I had 3 people in my family that have had ovarian or breast cancer, I myself had 3 surgeries for benign cyst and fibroid tumors, but it scared me so I insisted on a BRCA test and an internal ultrasound of my ovaries when doctors told me I needed a 4th surgery, the BRCA came back abnormal and when I went for my last surgery they told me I was in the earliest stage of cancer, I was 40 and had to have a full hysterectomy, my insurance at first would not pay for the test and it was about 3000 that I didnt have, but my new doctor fought for me and ended up getting it covered, please everyone if in your mind you think something is not right do not let a doctor put you aside, and find one that will fight for you. God Bless , DianeReplyCancel

My on my, it is so sad to read all the heart breaking situations people have gone through. I cling to the knowledge that this world is just a stop over and we all have to pass through death’s door to reach the gates of Heaven. Still, it is not easy for us as we are left behind with our memories of those we miss. I have lost friends and family to this nasty disease. I think of them often and with much love. I think the best thing we should do is pray . Think about it, then talk to God. He will hear us and answer in His perfect way. That’s the thing, sometimes His perfect answer is not what we want to hear but it is His answer and it is perfect. Sometimes it is just time to go home…… God bless to all……DeniceReplyCancel

Hi there blog friends.  Yes, I know I’ve been quiet for a couple of days.  I’ve been finishing up some maintenance work behind the scenes on my blog.  The first part of this year had been so wonderfully busy that I didn’t want to spare even one day to take it down to look under the hood, lol!  I put it off until I had no other choice.  You won’t necessarily see a difference, but my blogging platform was upgraded – the first in a couple of steps to troubleshoot some annoying issues I was having.  Thanks so much for hanging in there with me.  In the mean time today is a special day – JustRite Stampers has created two special stamp sets to acknowledge and celebrate cancer survivors.

The two sets I mentioned above are Strength and Courage and Be Strong.  I hope you’ll click on the link to see both of the sets.  Do you have preference in rubber or clear?  Although different, both of these sets share the familiar ribbon motif and I’m happy to say that one of the sets is being introduced as clear stamps – this is JustRite’s first set of clear stamps.  Below in my post I’ve shared the chart that shows the different ribbon colors that correspond to the different cancers.  That means that with one of these sets, you can actually tailor a card for any cancer cause you choose.  For my card today I chose pink to support breast cancer.  I lost the love of my life, last fall, to Multiple Myeloma which is burgundy.  I’m working, trying to work, on several scrapbook pages about some milestones in his disease and I’ve planned to use several of these motifs.

Now for my card, as I mentioned, I picked pink and used the Strength and Courage Set.  I used a couple of my fav girly papers that I knew would match.  I created a medallion using Spellbinders Picot Edge Circles as the base, then built up using Spellbinders Blossom Tags and Accents.  I topped off the medallion off using Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:  JustRite – Strength and Courage
Paper:  Xpedx Brilliant White Cover, The Girls Paperie, Colorbok – Flea Market
Ink: Memento – Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Spellbinders Blossom Tags and Accents, Spellbinders Picot Edge Circles, Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG, Lace, Ribbon, Pearls

The inspiration for todays stamps are thankfully provided by Amy Tedder, The JustRite Stampers Illustrator who herself, is an Ovarian Cancer Survivor.  Her story is so inspiring that you won’t want to miss it at the JustRite Inspiration link below.  In the meantime friends, thanks so much for stopping by to see me today. Hug a special woman in your life today and more importantly, save one of those hugs for yourself!!  Be sure you hop to the other members of the JustRite Design team to help us all celebrate!!

So happy to see you back. I checked in every day, and am glad that it was “blog” maintenance and nothing more. The card is fabulous!! So beautiful.
I lost my very best friend to breast cancer two years ago. She was 50. She left two boys, one 13 and one 20. A year later, her husband died of lung cancer. Totally unbelievable. The oldest son is raising his brother. I was so sorry to learn of your husband’s passing.
My heart, my prayers and my deepest sympathy go to you and your family. It is unimaginable until it happens to you or someone you love. Your spirit, your craft, and your generous sharing of yourself on this blog say so many wonderful things about you. God bless you and your family, and to all those out there who have suffered a terrible loss.ReplyCancel

Welcome back, Becca! Thank you for making and posting this gorgeous card, and for providing the chart of colors for awareness ribbons along with links to these two new stamp sets.

I am hoping that all women who are not aware of the symptoms of ovarian cancer will visit the website you mentioned and learn about them. Ovarian cancer is often called “the cancer that whispers” because symptoms are not clear cut and distinguishable from symptoms that could be caused by many other things. Also–a Pap test will NOT detect ovarian cancer. Please listen to your body and get checked out if symptoms listed on the website persist for longer than 2 weeks.

My younger sister is a Stage 4 ovarian cancer survivor. She was in denial for several months before consulting her doctor, so had to go through several surgeries, rounds of chemo, and much pain. I thank God–again–that she is doing ok today, though she will probably have more chemo in her future. I apologize if this is TMI, but just hope others can avoid what she has had to endure.ReplyCancel

Glad that you’ve just been busy behind the scenes and not had some sort of problem. Been missing my Becca fix! This card is just gorgeous, Becca! I’ve been to see both sets and really like the clear one, just one more thing to add to the list. I really, really need to win the lottery!! Thanks for the list of all the colors, I have a hard time remembering them. Now I can just save your list.

I love this card, and also these stamps sets. I hope they will be very popular.

I was also wondering if anyone knew the new website for the Spellbinders blog—I know they have a new one, but I can’t seem to find it and my google reader subscription didn’t carry over to the new one.

    Thanks much!!

    Hi Becca,
In 2009 I was diagnosed with a rare cancer called Juvenile Granulosa cell tumor. I was miss diagnosed by 2 doctors. By the 3 time I saw a doctor he listened to me and found a massive tumor that was 8 inches long and was taking over my body. I had surgery and 8 units of blood transfusion. I had to take 6 rounds of chemo and after all I have been through I had an amazing fighting spirit. On June of this year my cancer has come back and I had to over another surgery another mass was removed and 2 small spots in my intestines. This time I had no symstoms at all. I have a wonderful doctor in Houston who has taken excellent care of me.ReplyCancel
