It’s sew wonderful to welcome you to the Our Daily Bread Designs August Release Blog Hop!  We’ve all been in stitches in the background, working up samples to introduce this months offering of stamps.   All the stamps follow a theme and there are matching sentiments – there’s much variety in this month’s release that range from cardmaking If you feel the same, you’ll love the release this month – you can see them HERE You’ll be able to see that there are a lot of seamstresses in the mix today.   I sew and this is such a welcome addition to the stash!! Now, if you got here from Grace’s fabulous blog, you are in the right place!  If not, you might want to start at the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog and hop from there! If you encounter any broken links – the entire hop list is posted on the ODBD Blog :-)

For my project today I wanted to do a gift item, so I made some Spools of Wisdom.  I found the little box and wooden spools at Michaels and in Joann’s found some finished edge seam binding.  I stamped some the new release sentiments on the seam binding using my stampamajig.  Then adhered the end of the binding to the spool with glue and wound it up.  I finished off with a button and some linen thread so that the ends could be secured neatly.  Then some small decoration for the box – all with a vintage feel.  I’ve had this project on my mind for quite a while, so I was tickled to see sewing items in this release – it helped me theme out the entire gift!!  As you move on, for the hop particulars be sure to read my entire post, and if you leave a comment here to enter the contest for prizes, please remember that comments entered on my blog may not appear immediately.

Here are the spools in the box, all tied up.

I was even able to find labels to go on the end of the spools – that simply made my heart sing!!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread DesignsSew Special, Pincushion Tag Set, Weave in Faith, Quilter, Sewn with Love
Paper: Crafty Secrets Digital Paper
Ink: Antique Linen Distress Ink, Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink, Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories:Seam Binding, wooden spools, wooden box, paint, buttons, seam binding, linen thread, gold pen, ribbon

So many of the sets this month lend themselves to being stamped out in a linear fashion like this but the sentiment used above from the Full of Grace – Quilter is by far the easiest.  The bold type and double spaced lines made me start with this one and build my confidence :-)

Hop Particulars:
The Hop will run from 8:00 am Eastern Time on August 1st until 8:00 pm Eastern Time on August 2nd.  The winners will be announced on the ODBD Blog on August 3rd.  For this special event, there will be FIVE PRIZES.  Each winner will get a $20.00 Gift Certificate redeemable within six months of the issue date for stamps :-)

How to Enter the Drawing:

    Hi Becca,
You are so “amazing”!! Everything you do is always so beautiful. I am always inspired by your cards, projects and your faith which you are so willing to share! I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and paper crafting and crocheting have been wonderful tools for me. Upon my diagnosis, a longtime minister and friend told me to do something for someone else. That’s what I have been doing. I have discovered some wonderful people online who are involved in some form of crafting. You, however, are the first person I have ever written to. Thank you for sharing your love of crafting and card making and your love of God. You inspire
    me every day!!

Sweet friends, know that you are blessed today!   I have a card to share that is certainly tickling my Christmas bones.   I haven’t had a chance to dive into Christmas yet, but like many of you, once in . . . I’m all in :-)  I don’t know about you but when I’m planning my Christmas Crafting activities, I like to invest in a couple of different looks.  Traditional and vintage looks seem to be my main staples and then I like to have a smidgen of whimsy so that I can do a few of those too.  My card today leans more towards the traditional and I’m using a sweet JustRite Stampers set introduced earlier this month called Christmas Trimmings.

I have an admission to make.   Once a Spellbinders release is over and I sit down to use the new dies, I think I’m sooooooo excited about them that I try to get as many of them on one card as possible.  I had to really pull back on the card I made today and subtract – I just couldn’t make it all fit without clashing.  The fun thing is, that just with what I subtracted, it gave me motif ideas for two more cards.  I like that.  I’m not crazy but the new templates all try to talk to me at once “use me”, “no, use me” – I know you know what I mean ;-)

For this card I really wanted to use Spellbinders Holly Accents – I way over did it and cut back to just using the border which I divided into half, For my sentiment I picked smaller clean cut elements from  Spellbinders Ornate Artisan Tags and Accents and backed it with a piece from Spellbinders Ironworks Accents.  Then the edge . . . I am so loving the Edgeabilities for the variety they give me – I combined Spellbinders Classic Triple Scallop and Spellbinders Classic Petal Edgeabilities and ran them both through in one cut to get this edge treatment!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite Stampers – Christmas Trimmings
Paper: Strathmore,
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Chocolate Roan, Antique Linen Distress Ink (Dauber), Peeled Paint Distress Ink (Dauber)
Accessories:
Spellbinders Holly Accents, Spellbinders Ornate Artisan Tags and Accents, Spellbinders Classic Triple Scallop, Spellbinders Classic Petal Edgeabilities, Spellbinders Ironworks Accents, Ribbon, Picks, Recollections gems

Thanks for stopping in!!  New releases come out with Our Daily Bread Designs tomorrow — I think you’ll be sew excited with the new sets that are coming out!!

    Dear Becca,
The title of your blog is soooo right on. You are amazing!! When I go online every day, the first blog I check is yours. I copy a picture of each card with the instructions. I love how creative you are using the Spellbinders dies. I am addicted, like you to those beautiful dies. I live in Phoenix and worship at the feet of Stacy and her creative staff. I have 190 Spellbinders sets, and I have to buy the new ones as they come out. Sometimes my non-cardmaking and non-scrapbooking friends think I need a intervention, but they would hate not to get my cards and scrapbooks that I make for them. Your creations bring joy to so many people. Thank you so much for your beautiful blog.

Ha- Ha, you know it is really funny, every year in July I get into the Christmas spirit. I catch myself singing Christmas songs and things pop into my head on what I can do for Christmas “this year”. I don’t think anyone really knows the actual date Jesus was born , so I often wonder if it really was some time in July. Hmmmm ……… who knows? : ) Anyway, thanks for sharing the beautiful card and helping me to realize I am not the only one who thinks of Christmas when there is not a drop of snow to be found. God bless every one…….. DeniceReplyCancel

Hello there!!  What a glorious weekend, right?!  With some of my pressing chores done, I had the chance to sit down with my favorite set of the month!!  On the day it was released in the early part of the month I was revealing my die for Spellbinders Blog Frenzy and missed getting to show what I had been working on.  I finished it up and . . . love!!  I am just adoring the birdcages and this set from JustRite Stampers called Spread Your Wings is so darn sweet – it offers so many choices.  I’m getting ready to make another of the 3D Birdcages I designed but not as a pop up as an always up gift item.  I want to use this as the card to go along with it – how cool is that?  They match perfectly!!

Today I’m showing two new Spellbinders but I wanted to show you how well they combine with the old :-)  I picked Spellbinders Twisted Metal Tags and Accents for that lovely frame and backed it with Spellbinders Labels Twenty.  But not before I carved out a line of Fleurs using  Spellbinders Classic Bracket Edgeabilities :-)  I ran ribbon and a bow up the side and buttons across the bottom topped off with pearls.   Somewhere in my stash I found this tiny tassel and it seemed perfect for the top of the birdcage.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite Stampers – Spread Your Wings
Paper:  Girls Paperie, The Paper Company
Ink: Studio G, Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Spellbinders Twisted Metal Tags and Accents, Spellbinders Classic Bracket Edgeabilities, Spellbinders Labels Twenty, Buttons, Pearls, Tassel, Linen Thread, Seam Binding

Thanks for stopping by to see me today!!  I’ve cleared a path in my craft room, so I’m hoping to sit and create a little today.   I hope you have wonderful plans for the weekend too!
