Hi there blog friends!  Since we are right up on CHA, I thought it was time to do a push to let go of the remaining sweet Prima Paper I have.  Tomorrow, I’ll start a post to offer one of the Girs Paperie sets of cardstock I have.  It’s been almost two weeks since any candy, so it’s about time!!  First of all, I wanted to let you know that I know it has been difficult on busy days to leave comments.  There is a problem that we can’t seem to find concerning comments, but for the last week it has been somewhat better.  I unfortunately have no control over it, so my blog candy is “as is” and I encourage you to try different times to get in and leave your comment.  When you get a white screen, your comment is registered.  If you wait a couple of minutes then hit the refresh key you should see it.

For this candy I’m offering a set of Prima paper.  There are 10 thick double-sided sheets from a recent release.  In order to win all you have to do is leave a comment on this post between Noon and Midnight and feel free to leave a comment each day until the winner is picked on Friday, July 22nd.  For your comment, tell me what companies booth you would visit if you were at CHA and why. So many of the winners of this candy in the past have been my regular readers and that’s because they know I always have a little catch.  Pay attention to the time because no comments will be eligible to win except  those made between Noon and Midnight.  Once picked, the winner will have 48 hours to reach out to me through the contact button at the top to claim their prize.

Hi Becca! I love that paper!!! Oh my that question is not easy to answer…there are so many stops I would make! But if I could only hit one, I guess it would be Our Daily Bread stamps. As a Pastor’s wife I find myself choosing those almost each time I make a card, and since they now have some Nesties that go with them as well as backgrounds, well I can’t mess up! Then I’d run over to the Spellbinders booth to drool a bit. But my eyes would be looking all over the place and knowing me, I would stop at ALL of the booths and spend wayyyy too much. Oh, it’s just a dream, but maybe one day!!

I fell in love (lust) with their line one day while browsing Archivers and haven’t fell out yet. I still like the girly papers and colors you use, but I’m trying to adapt them to the pallet (?) that G45 uses. That would be the best of both worlds! If I were in dreamland, and was able to go to CHA, I would visit Prima for sure, Spellbinders, Girls Paperie, JustRite, & I would love to visit the stamp company where you get so many of your wonderful quote stamps from (the name escapes me right now), if they have a booth. I am sure I would be at the Copic booth as well, in awe of their talents, and there probably are soo many other booths that I would be so thrilled to see. Thanks for the opportunity! StacyReplyCancel

Sorry to say, that as a Canadian, I am not sure what CHA is, other than
a big craft show. Due to the big Spellbinder product launch these last weeks, I assume they would be there, so that is where I would head to.
Unless, of course, you were there, cause I would love to meet such a talented artist, yeah!!

To be honest Becca if I ever had the opportunity to visit a craft show (ANY craft show) I would try to visit every booth there. Unfortunately I live in Western
Australia and although we have a quilt fair here once a year that is all we have.
Still I can dream. I know living here I dont qualify for the Blog Candy but I just wanted to say how much I love your Blog and and how much pleasure you have given me in the past year since I discovered you. OK… 12 noon to 12 midnight your time or mine? In case my time (PDT) works, I’m leaving a comment now (at about 11:15 p.m.) But will be back tomorrow earlier in the day. This is just the first chance I’ve had today to even think about web surfing.

I don’t know that I would dare visit a CHA show… not sure my credit cards could sustain the damage! Spellbinders would be pretty high on my priority list… I’m coveting a Grand Calibur, but haven’t even seen one in person and don’t know where I could even go in my area to check one out. And all of the dies… sigh! I’m a visual person, and can assess possibilites much better if I can actually see an item in person. But if I see them and like them (is there really any doubt?) then I would so want to purchase them.

Thanks for another chance at gorgeous blog candy!ReplyCancel

I guess the next one on my list would be Spellbinders. These new dies that are being shown are a real revelation to me! All I ever see in the stores are the real basic squares, rectangles and circles. I nearly fell over when I discovered the Pendants last year! They seemed so intricate and lacy at the time. The new stuff has gone far beyond that and maybe there always has been better stuff than in the stores. I just never thought to go to their website to look. And these papers your are offering!! Another revelation….ReplyCancel

Well another booth I would head against will definately be Martha Stewarts , as I´m totally in love with her punches around the page sets too, which again is something, that is so hard to find here anywhere, and when there´s finally one, who have a few, they´re so expensive, that it´s almost impossible to pay the price for them LOL. So to be able to see all the latests new ones first hand would be soooo unbelivable and a dream come true too ha ha ha. But I´m afraid, I would go completely crazy, if I ever got a chance to go there ha ha haReplyCancel

Got so carried away yesterday wondering about your time zone that I forgot to tell which booth I’d visit at CHA… way to waste a comment! LOL!! Well, I know that I’d visit ALL of them! LOL!! I’m one of those people who doesn’t want to miss a thing! But, if I had to choose, I’d pick booths of brands that I don’t see as much of or have never even heard of at all. I know there are carft companies out there that I’ve never even heard of… just heard of a new one (well, new to me) the other day. So, since I can’t name something I’ve never heard of I’ll go for an old standard company that I’d visit and that would be Sizzix. I do like a lot of their dies and embossing folders so I’d want to see the newest stuff.ReplyCancel

I couldn’t resist squeezing in a quick tutorial on how to make those frilly doily flowers like I had on my blog today.  I am so in love with those and they are easy as pie!!  I had to make the video on my old camera since my desktop is out of commission, but it was really okay with me :-)  So have a look!!

Many of you have said that you cannot find this set of dies.  They become available for order on the Spellbinders Website on July 19th, so keep your eyes peeled!!

Cute hunh?  That die template is so very unique – I love this doily look!!  Well that’s all for me today, I’ll see you tomorrow!

Is that ever cool and it does make a Beautiful addtiion to your card, love the white on white!ReplyCancel

Hi there blog friends!!  Somehow I thought a white card would be easy.  Ahem.  Not so.  Not so probably because I was soooo intent on making one.   I worked on it long enough, so I thought I would share it.   Every once in a while I love the starkness of black and white.  I had the perfect Wordsworth stamp that lent itself to dividing into four parts.  I also came up with these sweet little flowers using new Spellbinders S5-067 Anemone Flower Topper.  These I’ll use like this again, I’m making a larger one with a brooch in the center.  The only difference with the flowers as I used them now and when I used them last week is that I cut the center from them this time.  I really love the open look of the flowers.

Along the side I used one of the fab new Spellbinders Edgeabilities (E8-001 Classic Scallops).  I cut each part of the sentiment from Spellbinders Long Classic Rectangles and then cut a pie shaped piece from the end of each piece.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:Wordsworth –  The Woman Who
Paper: Xpedx Brilliant White Cover
Ink: Versafine Black Onyx (clear embossing powder)
Accessories:
Spellbinders Long Classic Rectangles,Spellbinders Edgeabilities (E8-001 Classic Scallops), Spellbinders S5-067 Anemone Flower Topper, White grosgrain ribbon, laced, metal buttons, linen, pearls.

I’m all good now on the internet, but I feel like everything I touched over the last couple of days was touched by Murphys Law.  I’ve got to be on the good side now but if you are mildy curious, here was my adventure . . .

Thursday early morning – dog in surgery.
Thursday morning – reboot laptop.  After reboot laptop no longer works.  3 hours to restore.
Thursday afternoon – try to load video software on desktop.  Nope, not without an upgrade.
Thursday evening – start upgrade – it runs all night.  Test video – yay, I can use other camera now.
Friday morning – no internet.   Call Comcast.  It’s not them . . . bad router and switch.
Friday afternoon – off to Best Buy for a new router and switch.
Friday afternoon – stop and pick up groceries.
Friday afternoon – discover I lost IPhone at the grocery store – back to try to find it.  Retrieved and relieved!
Friday afternoon – spend rest of day installing new equipment.
Friday evening – internet drops every 10 minutes.
Friday night – do research only to find out the rest of the world had same problem with that brand of router.
Friday night – despondent over internet, go to dinner with girls.  On the way home it rains so hard the road floods immediately.  Ask girls what’s that strange noise?  The girls said it was just the hard rain.  It was the sound of me dragging my car’s front bumper all the way down the street. It somehow came off?  Even though I was going about 10 mph because of no visibility – it’s obvious that the bumper met with a tragic event.
Friday midnight – try to get blog post up in spite of up and down internet signal.    All of a sudden, power went off then back on three times within 3 seconds.  Turn desktop back on – desktop no longer works – system fan error message.  (What?!?  I’m sad, motherboard was just replaced in this desktop 4 weeks ago.)
Saturday morning – pack up router and switch – back to Best Buy.
Saturday mid-day – back home with new router and switch to install.
Saturday afternoon – Router and switch are good.  Yay, continuous internet!
Saturday night – Becca goes to make a card to celebrate hopeful end of Murphy’s reign.

Crazy hunh?  Take care friends, I’ll see you soon!!

Lets blame it on the moon phase or something!!! Murphy plagued me for about the past two weeks. I said it was something when the two best bits of news were that your roof was going to have to be replaced due to hail damage, and insurance was going to cover it, and you have been medically approved for social security disability! Glad to hear you have your issues resolved!ReplyCancel

Do you ever wonder if events like that are from God to help keep you away from danger, or put you out there where someone can be blessed by you? I think of that AFTER I get upset, AFTER I fuss and fume, and AFTER I tear my hair out, then as I progress through the events, I realize…it could have been for a higher purpose. I guess only God knows for now, but I sure do wish I could learn that lesson sooner than later!!!

BECCA iam so sorry to hear of the couple of days that you just experienced!~
I just went thru a few like that, Drop the cooked ribs on the floor, open fridge and out pops an egg onto the floor. Big puddle of egg. Out with the salt to
clean it. For three days that is what I had. But your beautiful white cards sure
made me feel better. Somedays you just need a white card.
Sometimes I think we need a bad couple of days and then we
    create muxh nicer cards.

Oh, I know just how you feel. This didn’t all happen the same week, but within a month and a half I’d say. Our AC broke, dishwasher broke, corian in kitchen broke, toilet broke, ice maker broke, and our garage door fell down. There was probably more, but that’s all I remember. Doesn’t anyone make quality products any more?

BTW, I couldn’t find the anemone flowers on the Spellbinders website. Is that because they are just being released at CHA?ReplyCancel

  • Joan OquistJuly 18, 2011 - 8:30 am

Becca–Can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed your blog and tutorials. Just yesterday I talked my hubby into drilling holes in an old wooden bow maker that had been lurking in the closet for about 20 years. I think my mom bought it at a craft store. It had two holes with removable pegs at the center and one-inch markings across, but was designed for large wreath bows I think. Works just fine now with your design . Sorry you had such a crazy week, but at least I know that when I have computer problems, I’m probably not the only one. Thanks again!ReplyCancel

  • DeniceJuly 18, 2011 - 11:04 am

Oh my goodness gracious, this all sounds like a bad dream. We had the same kind of things happen to us ……. only it happened for about 10 years. without much of a break….. it was so bad that if we went 3 days in a row with out some thing bad happening, we would say, ” do you think it is over now “. I can’t explain why or how but I know it was an awful time. I could go into a big long drawn out story of what all happened but it is a time better left behind. I will say I feel like my faith got a good work out. I never stopped loving God but humanly speaking I did ask “why “. I kept thinking about Job and how much he was loved by our Father and that helped me to cope, I kept saying ” Boy, God must really love me alot too”. : ) I say that jokingly but I really do believe there was a good reason, other wise, our family would not have had such trials to experience. Anyway, I hope things will be better from now on. We have never met, but I consider you a good friend and someone who I know I will see in Heaven, so until then God bless and many blessings sent your way…… DeniceReplyCancel

Becca, I’m so sorry about those two days and all the events. I’ve had more than a few of them myself. I read that when we have those things happen it just makes us appreciate it more when they are going well for us. Sometimes I think that’s a nice thought maybe, but can I just have a vacation from it once in a while? lol I guess it just truly is part of the ups and downs of life. I’d just like to say that you bring so much joy to me in seeing your beautiful work. I hope there is something that brings that same sort of joy to you.
