Hi there blog friends!! Can I gush? I am loving sitting down with these new die templates to figure out which ones  to layer.  I think this combination is going to be one of my favorites!  It took me a minute but once I got it,  I thought . . . yes!   Things click like that, don’t they?  Just a little bit of insight – I put together the medallion then went looking for a stamp (it rarely works that way).  Once I sat down to think about the vintage feel of the card, I knew this Flourishes set called Kids Play would have the perfect image and sentiment. Isn’t it sweet?

I layered (from the bottom) Spellbinders S5-063 – Lace Doily Motifs followed by Spellbinders Labels Sixteen and on top of that I put the new Spellbinders S4-346 Labels Twenty Two followed by Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG. The sentiment fit perfectly on one of the elements from Spellbinders Lacey Nested Pennants. Did you check out the side?? The new Edgeabilities Borders are a dream!! I used E8-001 Classic Scallop which has three borders in the set.  I cut folded card base once with the scallop edge then cut my folded card base once with the matching hole edge and the product was a large lacey scallop. Because I cut both sides of the card base at once, it insured a perfect match.

Okay, more gushing.  I recommend you look away now if you are at risk because I’m so excited about my latest acquisition.  I love vintage look papers!  Love!  Love! Love!! Did I say love? I hunt for them obsessively and to me they are quite hard to find.  Well, I’ve learned that there are tons of digital papers out there that have a vintage feel.  I just got the new Crafty Secrets Vintage Patterns CD that has 72 different papers that you can print out.  Can you hear me singing right now?  I nearly tackled the post man to get it out of his hands.  This was a no-brainer – I will use every one of them!!  So the sweet little blue striped paper with roses on my card is off of that CD and I’m just as tickled as punch.   I distressed all my papers with Antique Linen Distress ink and then a scant amount of Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I finished up the card with some pearl picks, custom dyed seam binding and a store bought crochet flower (has been in my stash for years!!).  Oops, don’t let me forget about the lace on the bottom.  Can’t forget the lace, lol!!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Flourishes – Kids Play
Paper: Bazzill, Crafty Secrets Vintage Patterns CD
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Antique Linen Distress Ink, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories:
Spellbinders S5-063 – Lace Doily Motifs, Spellbinders Labels Sixteen, Spellbinders S4-346 Labels Twenty Two, Spellbinders Classic Ovals LGSpellbinders Lacey Nested Pennants, E8-001 Classic Scallop

You all have been sooo sweet!!  It really is a pleasure for me to tour through the new die templates.  You can’t tell how excited I am, can you?  I’m like a little kid in a candy store!!

Becca and the postman! A Kodak moment for the USPS! Wish I could have seen it.

But the card! Oh the card! It is adorable, Becca. Spellbinders always has such neat stuff. And I had no idea digital paper could look so good. I’m starting my letter now; promise to be very, very good and hope Santa has lots of room in his bag next Christmas. If I can’t wait that long, maybe he can finance me temporarily. LOL

It’s one thing to have the neat stuff but quite another to know how to put it together artistically. That’s where you come in, Becca. Another masterpiece to add to your amazing collection.ReplyCancel

Oh Becca You crack me up ! I can just see you tackling the postman but I’m sure he is used to you by now and takes appropriate measures not to get hurt. LOL!! Last week I went to all three craft shops in town looking for vintage paper to match something I wanted to work with. I couldn’t find a thing I liked. Not that there was much anyway. I had no idea digital paper could look so beautiful. I’ll have to whisper in Santa’s ear and be extra good this year. Gosh I hope I can win some of these amazing new dies. Don’t think I can count on Santa for those.
As always your card is breathtaking. Things seldom ever just click for me and nothing ever whispers in my ear. You, my dear, are simply blessed with an amazing talent.

Funny you should mention digital papers. I was looking at some on Etsy, and inquired of one seller how I’d know if my printer could print them acceptably. She told me that most people take theirs to a printer/copier to be printed – I’m assuming someplace like Staples or FedEx Office. But it sound like you are printing your own. What type of paper are you printing on, what kind of printer are you using, and what settings?
Today’s card is amazing! I love the combination of pink, blue, and cream.ReplyCancel

Hi there sweet friends, thanks so much for stopping by to see me yesterday!!  As a reminder, you have until midnight tonight EST to enter my contest, but don’t enter without reading the rules because your entry is not a comment, but an email and must contain several things.

Note:  Many of you emailed to ask where you can get these new die templates.  They will be available on the Spellbinders website on July 19th and will be shipping at the end of August!

If you were not able to make it, it was my pleasure and honor to debut a new Spellbinders Die Template.  This week is indeed a special week as it is Blog Frenzy and the Spellbinders Designers all have the wonderful opportunity to show you items that we’ve been working on behind the scenes.  It’s difficult to contain all the excitement that surrounds new die templates – be sure you check out the List of Reveals for this week.  Speaking of reveals, I wanted to give you another glimpse of one the die templates that I revealed (Lace Doily Motifs), and this time you get to see the template as I believe most will use it.  It’s a stunning set and I’ve used it to make a card.

All the the die templates are amazing and aren’t they unique?  This is lacey like nothing I’ve seen out and about blogland!!  For my card I stacked two of the largest elements from Spellbinders S5-063 Lace Doily Motifs.  Easy and elegant – my kind of dies!  On my card I used Spellbinders Grommet Tags folded in half and I stamped one of the fabulous sentiments from Quietfire DesignTen Tiny Tag Sentiments which were made to fit into small places just like this!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Quietfire DesignTen Tiny Tag Sentiments
Paper: Xpedx Brilliant White Cover – 140 lb, Bazzill – Vintage pink
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Spellbinders S5-063 Lace Doily Motifs, Spellbinders Grand Labels Four, Spellbinders Big Scalloped Border Petites, Spellbinders Grommet Tags, ribbon, pearls, flower, buttons

Stay tuned through out the month!!!  I’ll have a steady stream of new Spellbinders to show you.  You’ll have an opportunity to see the many uses for the magnificent selection of dies that are going to be available.  This is the most exciting time of the year  — I hope you’ll join me.  Big hugs!!

Becca, I am still drooling over your projects yesterday. Just love those dies. Your card today is equally beautiful. I just love the patterned paper that you used it matches the elegance of the card design. I noticed that you didn’t list it in your supplies, so I am assuming that it is older and probably out of your stash, but if you happen to recall where it is from, please let me know. I would love to order some as I am a pink lover also and this is such a delicate pattern. Thanks.

•    Today you can enter my contest and Latisha Yoast’s contest.

Thank you, Spellbinders Paper Arts, for sponsoring this contest!

I’m thrilled to share two projects using
S5-062 Lace Doily Accents
and S5-063 Lace Doily Motifs with you.

The first project is a gift ensemble that includes a flower, box to hold the flower and a simple enclosure card.    When I was thinking of what to do I mused that I like to give jewelry and thought that if I could come up with a novel way to offer a ring or a brooch, wouldn’t it be fun to make the gift housing just as special as the gift?

Here the delicate leaves of the lotus are made using an element from S5-063 Lace Doily Motifs.  It’s so elegant and frilly that it honestly reminds me of filet crochet.   Since the bowl of the flower head is hollow, it’s the perfect place to put a jewelry gift — like the brooch I have in there now.   I simply put in some tulle then added the brooch so that it could be seen from above.

Once done with the lotus, I wanted a way to show the flower so I created a “Peek A Boo” box that displays the lotus on a pedestal and has a see through top so that the recipient can see their gift.  Since the box has a pedestal, its a great way to secure the flower so that it doesn’t move by threading the stem that holds the flower though a hole in the pedestal.

Then lastly, there’s a simple, matching enclosure card.

I’m sharing the step by step instructions for all three pieces of this Lace Doily ensemble, one by one!   I’ll start with the fun lotus itself and have included a supply list at the end of my instruction.  (Please click on each thumbnail to see entire picture or to see any hidden text).

S5-062 Lace Doily Accents
MSRP:  $29.99
Die Sizes:
1.  1 x 1″ – Corner
2.  1 x 1″ – Corner
3.  1 x 1″ – Square
4.  2¾ x 1 ½”
5.  2 5/8″
6.  9 x 1″

S5-063 Lace Doily Motifs
MSRP:  $29.99
Die Sizes:
1.  1 1/8″
2.  2 x 7/8″
3.  3 x 5/8″
4.  1½”
5.   2¼”
6.   4″

My second project is a wreath.  I’ve never made one before, but the frilly lacey nature of this die template whispered this idea right in my ear.  Can you imagine gifting this to a bride, using it at Christmas time or even laying it horizontally and using it as a centerpiece on a table with a candle in the center?   I was amazed at how large the wreath is (12 inches in diameter) and how easy it was to construct.

The wreath is a bed of roughly 20 cones glued to a donut made from cardboard.  An accordion folded layer was added on top then silk flower and pearl embellishments.

Here is the wreath in it’s full glory.  I threaded a ribbon through the opening so that I could fashion a hanger, but it could just as easily be mounted directly on a wall.

What a beautiful creation!! I recently bought a Grand Calibur, Mom is anxiously awaiting for hers to arrive…and there are a few others in our circle of crafty ladies who are contemplating the purchase! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it & would love to have more dies! We are having so much fun – but I think we will soon break out the arthritis cream for our wrists, elbows & shoulders that are doing all of this churning! I hope to have time soon to help out our church craft group & help them spice up their things they make to sell! I could have so much fun with this die! Well…any of them actually!ReplyCancel
