Hi there friends!! I didn’t think I would have a post for today, but I came across something so utterly cute that I had to take a 10 minute break from what I was working on to make it. The neat thing is, I’m giving it away to one of you for stopping by today. Is this not the cutest thing? I am just smiling all over myself. I got the inspiration for this online from something I saw and seriously, it took me less than 10 minutes to make it. I’m smitten. There will be more of these in my future. My head is just swimming with ideas.
At any rate, how neat is it when you have all the materials on hand to make something? Let me tell you, there is nothing like “right now”. I end up not making things and letting the idea get cold if I have to go buy something. I’m tickled, now I can unload some of those $1.00 frames I got from Michaels. Since I’m giving it away and I get so many questions about the pearl picks I’ve been using, I decided to load up some pins with lots of pearls and I didn’t glue any of them so that they can be changed around to suit your needs. Hi Becca ~ the “pincushion” is so pretty and once again you’ve displayed your imagination for the lovely and feminine. Several years ago I cross-stitched a sweet pincushion and finished it off the square with a fringe made of about a thousand beads. That is the cutest pin cushion! I’ve made pin cushions from little baskets but had not thought about using a frame. Duh. I’m glad you have great ideas and share them with us.
Amazing isn’t it… how we have so many things in our stash that we aren’t sure how we will use and then one day “Poof!” it is just the exact thing? I have some things for miniatures (another love of mine) and I know there is a frame in there. It is smaller than yours, but I have about 25 of them! And, everytime I see an exciting piece of fabric, I get 1/8 yard. Never a lot of expense but it creates quite a fabric stash for miniatures and for card making (especially flowers). Thanks for this project. A few of these in my gift drawer will be a welcomed addition!
Many years ago, my family decided we would no longer “break the bank” trying to give to one another at Christmas. Since then, we’ve been sharing affordable hand made items. One of the hardest challenges for me is to find unique stuff to make. This is a perfect gift for the girls in the family!!! Wonderful idea. One can never have too many pincushions. I don’t have enough. Always need a pin for a multitude of reasons and this idea makes having them laying around the house in a multitude of places practical as well as pretty. The pretty pearl picks look right at home!

How cute!! I was working on a project earlier today with some detailed dies and I was using a pin to push the cardstock from the die. I was thinking I needed a pin cushion or something like that to put my pin into so I do not lose it while moving to the next steps. I guess great minds think alike after all! I love that. I just bought a bunch of little frames at a garage sale on Saturday for 10 cents each…I have to paint them, but now know what I can do with them…..I have been into making all kinds of pin cushions and make do’s lately…this is so cute!!!

I was immediately drawn to this because it is so familiar. Years ago, when my sons were small, for one year at Christmas, they bought a beautiful metal fillagree frame (about 8×10 opening I think) and used a velvateen like fabric in elegant black and did exactly as you did and made me a padded frame to pin my special jewelry pins on! I still use it on my dresser to display favorite pins. What fun to find the idea again in small form.
