Hi there blog friends, happy Monday.  You know what that means!  I always start off my week with the Mojo Monday sketch and this weeks sketch, Mojo 194, is pure delight!!  I love it!!  I was done in record time and that’s just what I need on Monday morning.  I prepped over the weekend by getting some things I thought I might like to work with.  I never know what the sketch is, but when I opened it this morning I was delighted that some of the things I picked would work with it.  The sentiment I picked is form a set called Time from Our Daily Bread Designs.

I was pretty much true to the sketch and used a round punch and a scallop border on my cross panel but other than that the sketch was straight cutting.  I really lucked out because I sewed another big prima flower yesterday and saved the backing.  I was able to use a small part of what was left from the coiled roses and then I used the backing for the vertical strips on my card today.  Now why doesn’t that design exist in design paper?  Oh well, at least I was able to salvage and you know that always makes me smile.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread DesignsTime
Paper: Strathmore Acrylic, Bazzill, Die Cuts With a View, Prima Packaging
Ink: Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink
Accessories: 1 1/2″ Round Punch, EK Success Dotted Scallop Border Punch, Seam Binding, Prima Coiled Rose, Prima Lace, Pearl Pick

Thanks so much for peeking in to see what I’m up to.  I’ll see you tomorrow!!

Hi blog friends, as I always do on Sunday nite, I have a new poll up.   Thanks for all your feedback last week  – believe it or not,  the way each poll is answered is a total surprise to me and this one was surely not exception.  Now the questions move back to you and what you like to do . . . A couple of weeks ago, we explored our most favorite “other” craft outside of papercrafting.  This weeks poll explores your next favorite craft inside of papercrafting, other than stamping (I’m making a big assumption that most who land here are cardmakers/stampers).  For me, you know I love folding paper and doing anything considered paper engineering.  How about you?  If you had more time would you explore origami or perhaps do more piercing and embossing on your cards?  Weigh in – we’re all curious!

Remember I run each poll all week and you can see the results of earlier polls on my Crafting Poll Archive Page.

Already a new week, my how time flies!!   I’ll see you soon!

You didn’t have my latest interest, which is making paper flowers using punches. Punch Bunch and McGill have great punches for flowers. I have done pergamano for years and also did paper quilling and origami in the past .
Right now I am having so much fun making realistic punch flowers . I have a box full of them now I should get them onto cards LOL But for me the card is not the end product the flowers are.ReplyCancel

  • Carole (FibreJunky)June 6, 2011 - 12:56 am

Again, I wish I had the option to choose more than one answer on the poll. It made it a lot harder having to pick only one, when I really wanted to give 4 answers.ReplyCancel

  • MaryannJune 6, 2011 - 12:59 am

Hi there Becca, I just loves everything to do with paper, and I have the problem, that everytime I ean over a new technique, I just want to try that too. I started with Pergamano for many years, but then spread to other technicques of cardmaking too, and today I think, I do anything almost except from embroidery on paper and origami, cause I don´thave the patrience for that, but most other things, I have tryed, I think, but it´s always stamping and folding that I get back to every time. I would just love to do a lot more altered art and scrapbooking too, so that´s next on my wishlist here he he he he.ReplyCancel

  • KathyJune 6, 2011 - 1:04 am

I also like to do origami with stitching. Would like to learn to do Pergamano.
Just plain like to do paper crafts.ReplyCancel

  • Heidi KimmerlyJune 6, 2011 - 1:20 am

    Hi
My interest at the moment is learning to make paper flowers and of course I always want to learn how to make your beautiful bows. I would also love to learn how you decide to layer your cards and how you decide what embellishments you need to add to them. Your cards are just fabulous and I love the quotes you use on them. You must have a huge stash of nestabilities/spellbinders????? and ribbon????? Thanks for your inspiration. I really enjoy your blog.ReplyCancel

  • ChelseaJune 6, 2011 - 1:35 am

This was an interesting poll, Becca. I realized I’ve done more with paper than I thought! I have done quilling, tea bag folding, papermaking, scrapbooking, parchment paper crafts, and altered art. But what I really hope to do more of is parchment paper crafts. There is such a lacy delicate look to parchment work that I just love.
Thank you for publishing your polls – they are a lot of fun!ReplyCancel

  • Robyn HarrowerJune 6, 2011 - 1:37 am

Hi Becca, I love so many crafts it is very hard to select 1 but with iris folding I love the surprise when I turn it over to see the finished design.
I do scrapbooking, card making, embossing, quilling, tea bag folding. origami. I love so many papercrafts and I am always willing to try anything new. Then I have other interests as well as papercraft. I just LOVE craft.
    Robyn from AustraliaReplyCancel

  • BernieJune 6, 2011 - 2:07 am

You didn’t have my latest interest listed which is coloring. I love the soft result of coloring with chalks and I like that it is so quick and easy. I broke down and bought some water color pencils recently, not so quick or easy. I’ve tried everything else you have listed except kirigami. Some I enjoyed, some I didn’t and still others I was no good at.
    Blessings BernieReplyCancel

  • Sheila - UKJune 6, 2011 - 3:35 am

I only do cardmaking Becca, but if you had told me 3 years ago that I could even do that I would never have believed you because as far as I was concerned I didn’t have even the slightest bit of an artistic mind. Craft products have come so far forward in these last 3 years that they make my cards look even better! Lol! I love die-cutting (it’s so easy! Lol!) and I love to see the various ways you use them to layer and now I added floral punch art and am never happy until it actually looks like the real flower. Another great poll Becca.

    Love Sheila xxReplyCancel

  • RobinJune 6, 2011 - 4:24 am

I thought you hadn’t mentioned mine, but now see that “pergamano” is listed. That’s actually a brand name for parchment craft supplies. There is so much more to parchment craft than embossing and piercing that it really should be it’s own category. Parchment craft is my real passion!ReplyCancel

  • lois skiathitisJune 6, 2011 - 5:02 am

Aside from card-making which is my passion, I also scrap-book. I mostly make mini albums. Great new poll. As always Becca, TFS!!! :-DReplyCancel

  • Rachel BrooksJune 6, 2011 - 5:22 am

Hard choices. I’ve done/tried many of your list. I love doing money gifts as origami. Just wish the bills were a little bigger! :) Have done a heart for a needy family with $100 bill, grandkid’s birthday money with various shapes. I HAVE to get back to scrapbooking! Have a granddaughter who hasn’t had ONE book made yet! Started, and 3 drawers of “stuff” for it. My hubby is a hunter and I need to update caribou and bear hunts for several years. Started out well, but have neglected project for too long. Have sooooooooooo many albums to do – both grandsons have a first album, but I have at least one more to do for each. I also have our home/garden album, have BOXES of old photos from our family home (I’m 6th generation, so you know that story!) My mother did a great job going through a lot of them, IDing people as best she could and putting approximate dates. All her high school and college friend’s photos are in perfect condition! Oh well, little by little.ReplyCancel

  • Dianne CJune 6, 2011 - 5:40 am

Choices, choices – I just love using paper. I do all of the above except for scrapbooking and I see scrapbooking is #1. Folding and stamping is my favorite as we have a small group here. We try and get together once a week and even do a challenge. DianneReplyCancel

What a fun poll this time! It was very hard to choose as there were at least 4-5 listed that I’d love to have time for. Curiously you did not mention learning to color stamped/digital images which would be my number one pick. Learning shading, etc. with Copics, Prismacolors, Distress Inks, colored pencils, chalking etc.ReplyCancel

  • Susan SlaterJune 6, 2011 - 6:11 am

Fun poll. Hard to answer as there are so many forms of paper crafting that I like. It will be interesting to see what others have as their top interest. Hope you have a wonderful day.ReplyCancel

  • christiJune 6, 2011 - 6:44 am

35 years ago i was introduced to quilling and did a few things with it then saw a card a month or so ago with quilling on it ans said duh! papercrafting you can use it. so i may have to pull out my old supplies and see what happens. in 6th grade i leard how to make an oragami bird that flaps his wings. now when i’m out at restaurants with paper silverware wrappers i usually make one before dinner comes. i have made a few oragami things like a hanging ball, when we have had japanese exchange students. my current intrest is to do some iris paper folding. i would like something that tells me how to figure out the paper layout from the shape that i have. i’m sure it’s just some easy little trick. i just don’t know it. i have seen books online but can’t tell if it has what i want from the cover. i haven’t found any in the nearby craft stores. i have done some primitive scrapbook pages. i’m afraid if i do too much i will be over run with storing them. yes, i know i could make one for someone but if they didn’t take care and treasure it i would be sad. right now punches and spellbinders keep my mind on the creative edge.ReplyCancel

  • SandiJune 6, 2011 - 6:47 am

I LOVE paper casting. 80% of the cards I make have a cotton casting on them. I love the texture and dimension castings add to cards.ReplyCancel

  • Francie (Montreal)June 6, 2011 - 6:52 am

I have my hands full with card making, having started a mere 4 years ago. It’s taken over my life, and become an out-of-control passion. What I like so much about it is that not only is it creative, it gives me a lovely medium to tell friends and family how much they mean to me.

Scrapbooking seems like a similar craft, but a much larger project with each page. A little out of my league.

The little I’ve seen of Pergmano has me hooked. It’s breathtakingly beautiful, could be incorporated into a card and I have no idea how it’s done. I’d love to know about it.ReplyCancel

  • Pat in the Great White NorthJune 6, 2011 - 7:04 am

Actually, I started as a scrapbooker about eight years ago–an album of our trip to Britain. I look at it now and think of how different it is from my later work. Then came the card making and then stamping. I love anything having to do with birds and flowers and butterflies. I am still very basic in many ways with my papercrafting and scrapbooking. I have a few spellbinders products but I guess I am very much a ‘plain Jane’ and love to look at your work that is so different from my own.ReplyCancel

  • TaerieJune 6, 2011 - 7:13 am

    Hi Becca,

I love seeing your additons each day –and the polls are such fun. Right now I am into altered art and collage. I was lucky enough to take two classed with Tim Holtz and that sparked my interest in altered everything, Here in the Daytona area, we have a great teacher, Sharon Burdette, who is teaching classes in altered art. Her classed include books, canvases and all things altered, It is sooo much fun to experiment!!!ReplyCancel

  • SharonJune 6, 2011 - 8:12 am

    Hi Becca,
It was hard to choose just one, while I do a lot of scrapbook pages as well as card making I feel that I do a pretty fair job at desining a page. I voted to learn something new like paper enginering. I take ideas from your Becca Bits to add to my creations (credit is given). Thank youReplyCancel

  • NimueJune 6, 2011 - 8:15 am

Hi Becca, I guess a lot of card makers are scrapbookers too. I think there are lot of scrapbooking resources out there in the ether. I’d love to see origami used in card making. I haven’t seen very much of that at all. Thanks for the work you put into your blog. I look forward to it every day.ReplyCancel

I like that I can look back and see what the family did years ago…I did books for my parents when they were alive and my grand kids have used them to explain our family and WW II. You missed mentioning handmade books and boxes. I make artistbooks, mini journals, mini scrapbooks, etc. and have a lot of fun exploring bindings, techniques, materials and gifting other with my creations. I also love to make boxes though I don’t do as many of these.ReplyCancel

I have so many interests, i just can’t stop learning and teaching! I do pergamano, and have also taught 3-D with stencil openings, then I’ve done card embroidery and quilling which I also love besides stamping …I’m eager to try making paper bag albums, mini albums, boxes and all things related to paper…and I’m anxious to do vintage tags which are on my to-do list also with chipboard accessories, feathers and such…I love all you do, Becca, and thank you sooo much for sharing all your knowledge with us as well as your videos…hugs…

I like interesting folds-not necessarily origami and not cards that spin, etc.ReplyCancel

  • InkyhiveJune 6, 2011 - 10:17 am

I do many of what you have listed and since only one vote counts, I put what I am very interested in learning. “quilling” I have the basics to begin, just need to sit down and give it a try!

Love your blog and all that you show us. Thank you and God Bless.

  • ColoradoJune 6, 2011 - 10:46 am

Betcha can’t pick just one!! LOL!! So I didn’t. You just named so many crafts that I’ve either been wanting to learn more about or try. I’d love to see you give information/tutorials on Origami, kirigami, Embossing, Piercing, Pergamano, Quilling, Paper Engineering, Origamic Architecture, Tea Bag Folding, Iris Folding, Papermaking, Embroidery on Paper. I’ve bought books, kits, etc. on a few of these topics, but have never really taken the plunge to try them. And have never really found much in the way of good instruction on the web for the ones I have really looked into. I’d definitely “be there” if there was a good place to learn more about many of the things you listed.ReplyCancel

Oh let me count the ways!!!! Years ago I did a lot of quilling. As it just so happens I have recently purchased quilling supplies so I can being an old hobby anew. I am also very interested in creating boxes, 3-D items, scenes, etc. What is Iris folding and Zentangle? Just curious. Love your site. So very interesting and informative. Thank you sweet Becca for sharing your artistry and knowledge.ReplyCancel

I can not “see” your polls because your floral printed wallpaper covers them up for me. I can only see a few beginning words in your list but I am unable to read the whole thing. Is there any way you can remove that wallpaper from the right hand side?ReplyCancel

  • Linda BandowJune 6, 2011 - 4:35 pm

I wanted to check at least 3 boxes….and there are more things that I want to get into, only $ holds me back…..I love the punch flowers. Have seen some that are truly phenomenal….they make great decorations for boxes and folders.ReplyCancel

I have always been fascinated by paper engeneering and have alot of popup books. I find it absolutely amaizing that meer paper can be used in so many awsome ways.ReplyCancel

  • RufusJune 6, 2011 - 9:17 pm

Like everyone else would have loved to check at least 3/4 of the list! But I had to pick, you didn’t list mine. I love to color, watercolor pencils, distress inks, chalk, watercolors, Twinkling H2O’s…love ’em all. Don’t have copic’s and doubt I ever will since there are two many other things I want to spend my crafty $ on. I also love to create my own background papers, not the paper it’s self, but coloring, stamping, alcohol inking, embossing, making paste papers, etc to use as backgrounds. But I’ve done almost everything on the list except Pergamano. Love the look, but don’t have the supplies, not sure if I’ve got the patience it looks like it would take! Love your polls and reading all the various responses.

  • DWDJune 6, 2011 - 10:49 pm

I have been a scrapbooker for the most part and have dabbled in cards, ATC’s and Inchies. But recently I fell in love with mini albums full of pockets and pull tabs for photos and journaling. I would have never thought of it as “paper engineering” but I guess that’s what it is. There are a few girls on Ustream, that do classes during the week. Some of their products include Africa Safari photos in an album that fits in a “vagabond” suitcase, all made out of chipboard. Or a Toy Box that when it’s opened, The lid is a shadow, Tim Holtz configuration, and the album fits in the toy box. There is also one of a vintage camera and a sewing box. I just love them and they are all so different with the different paper lines used. In fact…..I think you would be WONDERFUL at this too!!! The 4 of 5 of them that I watch, will put together the kitsand sell them from $40 – $100 or just offer the directions, $10-$15, so we can use up our hoarded stash. LOL You can find some of their works of art on Ustream and YouTube.ReplyCancel

    Good morning,
Again, your card ranks at the top. I am commenting on the poll this time. When I make birthday cards for our monthly “Y” birthday party, I use almost all of the other types of paper crafting so it is not the same design each month. Thus, I could not pick just one from the poll. I use your card ideas for part of the card and the other ideas to finish the card. Although I have alot of stamps, I don’t use many. Makes it all fun and the people actually save the cards from year to year. One person “regifts” the cards back to me for my birthday. What fun! Thanks again for all your great ideas.ReplyCancel
