Welcome to the Our Daily Bread Designs June Release Blog Hop! There are more than eight new sets this month not to mention a die template for a crochet border and a crochet circle die!!  If you got here from Connie’s fabulous blog, you are in the right place! If not, you might want to start at the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog and hop from there! If you encounter any broken links – the entire hop list is posted on the ODBD Blog :-)

For the hop particulars be sure to read my entire post, and if you leave a comment here to enter the contest for prizes, please remember that comments entered on my blog may not appear immediately. Please give it several minutes and hit refresh to see your comment. In the meantime about my card.  Can you tell that I am loving the new Crochet Background???  This is the second time I’ve used it this week but I switched up and tried it on vellum!  Remember when I used cross stitch fabric a week or two ago?  Well here I’ve used the scraps  to make the rolled flowers.  There’s not a smidgen left!!  I also used a sentiment from the Serve the Lord set and curve it so that it fit perfectly in Spellbinders Ribbon Banners.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs Crochet Background, Serve the Lord
Paper: Coredinations, Bazzill, pergamano
Ink: Versafine Onyx Back, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories: Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares, Spellbinders Classic Squares SM, Spellbinders Ribbon Banners, Martha Stewart Leaf Punch, Martha Stewart Floral Vine Deep Edger, Recollections Pearls, Zva Creative Pearls,

Hop Particulars:
The Hop will run from 8:00 am Eastern Time on June 1st until 8:00 pm Eastern Time on June 2nd.   The winners will be announced on the ODBD Blog on Friday, June 3rd.  For this special event, there will be FOUR PRIZES. One winner will get the Bread Basket Bundle and the other three winners will be able to select a stamp set of their choice.

Alrighty then, I pulled the number for the winner of the Girls Paperie Paper.  I’d love it if you popped by to see if it’s you.  I’ve been seeing lot of projects in blogland made with this paper and it always looks so sweet, so I certainly hope the winner enjoys their prize.  Here’s the winner:

Reach out to me through email to let me know your mailing address and these will go in my next post office run.   If I haven’t heard anything in 48 hours, I’ll use random.org to pick another winner :-)

Just a couple of notes – tomorrow is a blog hop for Our Daily Bread Designs and shortly thereafter I get to play with new releases for JustRite – amazing stuff coming!!

I’m working on getting the tutorial for the birdcage up but I don’t want this project to intimidate anyone so I’m considering making it into a video tutorial.  I really believe that anyone can make the pop up!!  At any rate, there were three parts to that project so I will likely break it up into three parts to be shown on three consecutive days.  Lol, now I just have look on the calendar for three days.  Some of you have emailed me that you already have the dies, so hold on, it’s coming!!

I just had to work with some different colors, but I still wanted to have and old vintage-y feel so I dug in my toss offs pile and came up with this shell of a card that was set aside some time ago.  The designer paper on the card isn’t really designer paper but comes from some card sets that Michaels clearanced out years ago.  The box that the cards came in is what caught my eye because I knew it would would in an altered project down the road — but inside there were eight different cards with different designer paper panels on the front and back.  Well, that was certainly my kind of salvage operation – I knew I could use everything from my clearance buy.

This is a new release from Quietfire Design called Friends are Those Rare People.   I positioned my sentiment on Spellbinders Labels Fourteen with Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three peeking out from behind.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Quietfire Design – Friends are Those Rare People
Paper: We R Memory
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Pearls, Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three, Spellbinders Labels Fourteen, Recollections Crochet Doily, Lace, Recollections Swirl, Seam Binding distressed with Walnut Ink Stain, Gold Rimmed Pearl (Michaels),

Thanks for stopping by!!  Big, big hugs . . .

  • Karen LinarezMay 31, 2011 - 12:55 pm

I love the vintagey feel. The colors work well for vintagey not to mention the stripes with the wallpaper, and the “chair rail” feel to the layout. It’s all perfect. It actually reminds me of an old pizza restaurant back home that’s designed to look victorian, I’ll have to send you some pictures sometime. Many great memories there, you see, that was the teen hangout on Sunday nights after church when I was a teen (many moons ago), So your card gives me warm fuzzies!ReplyCancel

Oh wow, how clever you are to salvage these cards. I try to look at Michael’s ‘finds’ with “Becca’s eyes”, but I surely can’t imagine a result like you put forth. Way to go! Lovely card.ReplyCancel

  • sandi ackermanMay 31, 2011 - 1:41 pm

I love the card. the combination makes is such that we can put a variety of things together and they look good. What does your heart want to say? I think that is what is important and what is the colors that is on your mind? Those two things can be very creative. Who says we have to always go with the status quo.?ReplyCancel

This is beautiful. So many of our younger crafters are into such wild “expressions of art.” Yet I find those who receive a more vintage looking card seem to keep them longer and display them more.
May I ask how you mail those with the bows and hat pins?ReplyCancel

Can you tell me what size the cirle is that you use to make your bow maker. I am having trouble finding a round cylinder box and live in an area that we don’t have to many choices.
