Hey there chickies!!  It has been so busy with new stamps and such that I haven’t had a chance to do a paper giveaway, so today is the day!!  Up for grabs is a set of the Girls Paperie Paper that I’ve been using a lot lately.  I have a set that includes twelve double sided sheets to be sent to one winner that I’ll pick by random.org.    Just leave a comment on this post and on Tuesday night, May 31st, I’ll pick a winner to send this to.   Feel free to leave a comment each day.

Remember, comments don’t always show up immediately on my blog.   If you get a white screen, my site is busy, but your comment went through.  You may have to refresh your screen or leave and come back to see it, but it’s there.  Quite often you are leaving multiple comments, but I assure you the original is there.

Thanks for all your sweet words as of late.  I’m working in the background today on some deadlines but may have something from my table finished up later on this evening.  I hope you are having a special holiday weekend!!

  • TootsieMay 28, 2011 - 10:05 am

Well Becca it is crunch time for the budget…out of a job and dipping into savings…I guess it is a welcoming to the lower / non income world. My only saving grace is doing my art and even then it is tough to stay focused. Having no income makes me feel “not worthy” to even take a shower. I have been through tough times before and know that there is light…some time…I pray soon. It could be worse as we see in other states and my emotions rise for me not to be able to help them. I stay close to home and help the elderly here…thats what I can do.
Thank-you so much for your joy to my eyes and words of encouragement sent through them…ReplyCancel

    Becca,
Your beautiful projects always take my breath away. I’m always wondering how you do it. How do you have time to do housework, eat, wash the dishes, grocery shop, do laundry and still make beautiful projects. You do sleep …right?

Any hooo… I’m back to my craft house, “the Strawberry Studio” to make a few aprons. I flip flop from stamping to sewing. I don’t know why I get in the mood to sew in the summer time. Crazy, huh? But when the mood hits, I must go with it.

Take care and thanks for a chance to win something. You’re too cool!

Hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend. Not much planned around here for the weekend, as the forecast is mostly cloudy and rain. I quickly planted my garden last night, to try to beat the rain, so I think it will be indoor things for us this weekend. Hopefully Monday will be rain-free in the am, so our small town can have it’s annual parade, and Memorial Day observance. Perhaps I’ll get a chance to play with my stamps this weekend.

It matches my huge rose garden right out side the front door that is in full bloom of color right now and all those 75 bushes are getting ready for its second round of full color… yum yum.
But all kidding aside Becca, I really enjoy trying to win anything you offer as you give us so much more than just instructions on creating the cards, and things that you have done for the day’s posting. Your tutorials are getting really great and yes, I know time consuming for you to produce but you give us the opportunity to write notes while watching the videos then going back to it while making the item and watch the video to be sure we are doing it correctly. That is really great and very much appreciated.
    Have a wonderful holiday weekend.ReplyCancel

Hope you’re having a lovely Memorial Day weekend, Becca. I’m off today to see if I can find the smaller round box for my flower loom. One I first found was $2 and measures about 4″, but my friend found one for $1 that measures about 3″, so I’m off to find that one now! The larger one will make a great paper-covered gift — or maybe a larger loom?ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
I’m back today to say that your card is beautiful. I always liked that punched medallion. Thanks for bringing up that tutorial again, to keep it fresh in our minds. I had hoped to go to my parents’ farm today to put in a little more garden. They have garden space to spare, and I thought I’d put in veggies that take more space than my garden here in town can afford, like squash, and cantaloupe, etc. Having part of my garden there also serves the purpose of getting me there to visit them more often too, as they are getting older, and I really should go see them more. Unfortunately, I think I missed my window of dry weather between church and lunch. It’s raining again. Oh well, maybe later in the day, or tomorrow.ReplyCancel

Is anyone else as impressed as I about the sheer quantity of comments that appear in response to Becca’s blog posts? There are obviously MANY of us out here in cyberland. And when she offers blog candy, well…! Extreme computer issues these past days have prevented me from being a little earlier to put my bid in for this weekend’s goodies. So with hope that it isn’t only the early bird that gets the worm (er… blog candy!), will leave my humble posting here with fingers crossed that maybe the better late than never principle will serve me in good stead. Happy Memorial Day to all, with heartfelt thanks to all who have or are serving our country.ReplyCancel

What a beautiful Memorial Day we had. The day was sunny and warm. Finally! My husband and I attended our town’s Memorial Day parade, and ceremonies. Then we loaded up our gardening “stuff” and went to my parents’ farm to plant our big garden. It took most of the afternoon, but everything is planted. We brought our little white dog along, and had him off-leash. Well, he ended up jumping into the waterway nearby and came out filthy, and covered in green duckweed. He then proceeded to lie in the newly tilled garden soil. Our little gray dog with green specks. Yuck! We had three buckets of water along to water plants, so he promptly got dunked in the buckets to get off the worst of it, The dirty water still worked fine for watering our newly planted vegetable plants. Needless to say, our pup went back on-leash while we finished the planting. Once home, he got a proper bath, and we have our little white dog again. Everyone is pooped from our day on the farm, but it’s been a really good day, even with our pooch fiasco.
(Sorry this turned into a bit of a ramble.)ReplyCancel

Oh goodness, what is it this week with all the new rubber? I surrender, bring it on! I received a boatload of new stamps today, so you’ll have to live through me enabling you again, lol! These arrived less than 10 hours ago and I’ve already made a card. I think my eagerness matches the magnificence of these stamps!!  Quietfire Design has introduced a whole new series of rubber stamps and you can see all the new releases HERE – this one is called You May Not Be Able To Leave Your Children.

That sentiment is amazing!!  Since it references weaving, I decided to stay with fibers, lace, I incorporated more of my cross stitch fabric on the left and I covered my panel with sheer lace.  I stayed with a tone on tone palette and lots of pearls.  I pulled two Spellbinders templates to use – Spellbinders Fleur de lis Squares and Spellbinders Lacey Squares.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Quietfire Design – You May Not Be Able to Leave Your Children
Paper: Strathmore Acrylic, Coredinations Tan Pearl
Ink: Colorbox Pigment Ink – Cocoa
Accessories: Spellbinders Fleur de lis Squares, Spellbinders Lacey Squares, Pearls, Zva Creative Pearls, Seam Binding, Lace, Cross stitch fabric, Felt rose

Be good friends, I have a busy day in store but I’ll see you soon!

    Hi there –
Well, I’m new to your site and very, very impressed. My friend Linda told me about your workmanship and she certainly was right – you are more than talented!
It is so inspiring to see people using their imagination and willing to share their techniques. We need more of that kind of spirit.
I, too, love to create greeting cards with the many beautiful rubber stamps as well as hand-painting both the cards and scenic murals. However, I do have a slight bit of difficulty with some projects as I only have one arm – lost my left arm to cancer nearly 6 years ago.
I may not master your beautiful bows but I’m having a great time!
    Thanks again for sharing!ReplyCancel

Do I have a sneak peek for you?  Ha – ha . . . (insert mischievous grin here).  Yep.  I could not wait to get these new stamps inky and I think they will take your breath away.  With the hot trend that’s going with doily’s and the whole look of crochet and knit – I’m in heaven here!!  I’m sneak peeking a new set with Our Daily Bread Designs that is simply making my heart sing!!  There is a new crochet background as well as a matching round stamp with the same motif!!  These will be shown in completion on June 1st but this will certainly give you a good, good idea.  That’s not all though, there are many other sets coming to light on our June 1st release as well!!

I created a medallion using Spellbinders Lotus Pendant and stacked it with the new die that’s being introduced by ODBD to match the crochet medallion.  I topped that with Spellbinders Standard Circles SM for my sentiment.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Crochet Background, Serve the Lord
Paper: The Paper Company, K & Co.
Ink: Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink, Antique Linen Distress Ink Reiker (to dye seam binding), Versamark and Ivory Embossing Powder
Accessories: ODBD Crochet Medallion Die, Spellbinders Lotus Pendant, Spellbinders Standard Circles SM, seam binding, Recollections Flowers (Michaels),  lace (Hobby Lobby), Cosage Pin (Joanns), doily (Michaels)

Wow!!! The crochet stamps are incredible … it’s awfully difficult to believe that they’re not ‘real’ lacework … and the card you’ve created with them is absolutely exquisite. Your talent simply knows no bounds, Becca … your creations are a beauty to behold.

I hope all’s well with you and that you’re doing okay … I think of you loads, even though I don’t tell you often enough. Big Hugs, Melodie XxXReplyCancel
