Hi there blog friends!!  What an exciting week!!  Today I’m hopping with the crew from JustRite Stampers and Stampers Dream.  For my project today I’m using new stamps from JustRite Stampers and new die templates from Spellbinders – both of those things make.me.smile!!    Thanks so much for your kind words on my project yesterday, it one of my very favorites and it prompted me to use another of the new Spellbinders dies again.  Once I saw the new dies, I knew the Butterfly Circles would be perfect to frame the newly released Butterfly Garden set from JustRite Stampers!

I let this paper from K & Co. with butterflies serve as my inspiration for feel and color.   The cool subdued color palette made me think for a quick second how I would go about coloring and I decided to pull out my Copic Markers.  I understand it is not good to color copic markers across an embossed line so I embossed my Pergamano paper with white embossing powder and turned the panel over and colored from the back side.  This was like an exercise in paint by the numbers!!  Coloring on the back while the front masks the image with embossing is quick, easy and very forgiving — just what I need!  I cut and embossed the outer ring of Spellbinders Butterfly Circles .  With a combination of Spellbinders Standard Circles LG and Spellbinders Standard Circles SM, I cut the center from Pergamano (vellum) and the ring with the sentiment.  Since I was using this fab butterfly paper instead of cutting an embellishment butterfly by hand, I cut one using Spellbinders Nested Butterflies Two. :-)

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite Stampers – Butterfly Gardens
Paper: K & Co, Bazzill, Xpedx White Cardstock
Ink:
Colorbox Chalk Ink – Blue Iris, Versamark and White Embossing Powder
Accessories:
Spellbinders Butterfly Circles, Spellbinders Nested Butterflies Two, Spellbinders Standard Circles LG, Spellbinders Standard Circles SM, pearls, prima flower, Martha Stewart Seam Binding, heart and leaf pin (Joann’s), Copic Markers – YG06, YG97, YG63, V25, Y02, RV63, B34, YR15

  • Lynne PhelpsMay 25, 2011 - 12:04 pm

What a gorgous card, love the sentiment in a ring like that! You are right about the Copics – they can dissolved PIGMENTED heat embossed lines. One way to get around this is to use CLEAR powder, which is fine with Copics, and colored ink. I use the trick of inking up first with Versamark then with a die ink before stamping to make any ink embossable. However your work around of coloring on the back is gorgeous and works perfectly with the patterned paper. Absolutely lovely!ReplyCancel

Lord, the hurt you send me
Help me to bear in silence,

Help me to keep it just for thee,
To clip its wings and guard it close
    Within my breast
    Until it sings.ReplyCancel

I’ve been truly inspired by your work, and the bird-house stole the heart away… Could you please post a Tutorial for this pop-up card…
    Eagerly awaiting!!! :-)ReplyCancel

One of my favorite sentiments, for sure and so, so true!!  Good morning blog friends!  I hope the start of your week is truly magnificent.  I’m kicking off my week with the Mojo Monday sketch – Mojo192, so I hope you’ll indulge me.

I used Spellbinders Label Eight as a frame and trimmed it out using my Tight Mats tutorial.  The sentiment is mounted on a medallion of Spellbinders Lacey Circles, Spellbinders Standard Circles LG and Spellbinders Standard Circles SM.  Along the bottom of the card I used a teeny tiny scalloped border punch as well as the larger border punch.   I can confirm the lace I’m using today (and yesterday) came from Michaels — it must have been seasonal as it was on an end cap.  I paired the lace with some seam binding (if you are looking for this, simply Google the brand Hug Snug) that I dyed with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink reinker and tied with the Figure Eight Loops technique on my Peg Bow Maker.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Serendipity Stamps – The Secret of Happiness
Paper:  K & Co., Bazzill, Coredinations Pearl
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black and Embossing Powder, Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Victorian Velvet Distress Ink (used to dye ribbon)
Accessories: Spellbinders Labels Eight, Spellbinders Lacey Circles, Spellbinders Standard Circles LG, Spellbinders Standard Circles SM, EK Success Moroccan Punch, EK Success Ribbon Border Punch, Recollections Pearls (Michaels), Lace (Michaels), Gold Rimmed Pearl (Michaels), Corsage Pin (Joann’s), Round Pearls (Michaels)

Thanks for stopping by today, remember to come see me some time after midnight tonight, lol, well I guess that means tomorrow.

This is utterly charming! For starters, the paper is a lovely backdrop for the rest of the elements. The lace is so pretty, the super frame and of course the ribbon/bow treatment – always the star of the show. I too love this sentiment and have one in my cherished rubbah collection. All and all, another 10. You never fail to amaze us.ReplyCancel
