I love my ATG, it is quick and smooth. There is a wonderful store that sells stamps, lots of card samples and classes.They said their preference is rubber cement . I was very surprised. Everyone has their special thang!ReplyCancel

I’ve only had my Scotch ATG for a short time but I swear by it and seldom reach for anything else now. Yes other types of adhesives have their place but I find the ATG is the most versatile of them all. If only it was blue. :)

I usually go with a tape runner for cards and scrapbooking. But I refrain from doing the expensive ones and thus have realized that they are not everlasting. Fine with cards not wit albums.
So I went back to what I did in the very beginning: I tape Fotos to pages with fotosquares and adhere embellis wit liquid glue.
I love UHU´s pink capped craftglue for that, or gluepens by Zig or Dovecraft, depending on how big the stuff is.ReplyCancel

The two main adhesives I use all the time are Scor-Tape and Glossy Accents. I’ve tried various types of adhesives—like the white glue, the Glue Glider Pro, Zip Dry, Xyron machine (just to name a few), and wasn’t happy with the results compared to Scor-Tape and Glossy Accents. I also love Mod Podge for other types of projects but I don’t use it as often. One thing I have found it great for is certain types of glitter papers, when the glitter falls off the paper easily. A very thin coat of matte Mod Podge dries clear and stops me from having to brush away glitter off my work space for (what seems like) weeks on end.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca being from the UK I use Pinflair Gel an odourless silicone glue (always use this for my flowers ), Pinflair Foto-glue which is great for matting and layering as it’s repositional and Aleene’s quick dry tacky glue for any other bits and pieces. Great poll by the way.

I am reaching out to Barb Tracey.
She is asking about a really good adhesive stamp pad to use when glittering a stamped image? If you just want to stamp an image and glitter “The Essential Glue Pad” from TSUKINEKO is fab. Alternativly, to colour an item and then glitter, the “Quickie Glue Pen” from Sakura is excellent.
No heat setting required.
A very good fine glitter is essential I think and a brilliant one is called “Glamour Dust”

I generally use a snail runner for paper, scor-tape for ribbons and fibers, and tombow liquid glue for small embellishments ( like rhinestones or pearls).ReplyCancel

i have participated in this toll but as I have stated my main adhesive is white glue with double sided tape nearly as much- i don’t have an ATG they are not very common in Australia but I sure would love one it would be so much easierReplyCancel

Most glue’s are a no no for me! If I absolutely must glue an embellie on, it’s with tombow glue. For my day to day crafting though, my ATG is my best bud! It’s fast, I don’t have to refill every 10 minutes and “I can’t lose it on my desk” (which is probably the best reason if you’ve seen my desk”ReplyCancel

I use my ATG gun when at home. I have both a 1/2 and 1/4 inch gun and just love them. When I go somewhere, I take either just a roll of ATG tape (minus dispenser) or a Glu Glider Pro. For stronger hold, I use red tape or glue dots.ReplyCancel

The Glue Glider Pro is my ALL TIME favorite. The high tac is awesome for attaching ribbon. The Extreme Tac is great for glass, glitter paper and metal.I use the perma tac for my every day crafting. My son uses the Wall Tac to put up posters and it does not damage the wall! Perfect for Dorm rooms.The Fabric Tac works on Fabric and after ironing is permanent and cab be washed! The cartridges just slip in and out of the gun. And if a cartridge goes bad Glue Arts replaces it and pays for the shipping! (I have not had that with other companies,)ReplyCancel

I like small tape runners, but they are expensive and sometimes do not work, or I slip the tape off the guide, tear the underlying paper trying to get it on again and the whole thing is useless; I like micro dots (on a roll), but they can get everywhere and stray dots can can cause a problem, ending up in the most unlikely of places and attracting dirt, making the card look filthy; double sided tape is a favourite, but is very unforgiving if you don’t align something properly (I need to make very wonky cards, so it looks deliberate); and I would like to like (!) silicone glue and I get fantastic results with it – until it seeps through and leaves a dark stain on the dp or ribbon about half an hour after you think the card is finished and how lovely it looks, until…, or it does not dry properly. Maybe it’s just me???? A friend is persuading me towards spray adhesive. Watch this space!ReplyCancel

Well my first choice for most projects is always my Scotch ATG gun I’ve had it for a few years now and couldn’t live without it ! lol But for small delicate areas I usually reach for ZigZag Glue Pen. I tried everything though and will occassionally go with the Sookwang tape if its nearby. They all seem to serve a useful purpose at times..but the ATG gun wins in my book hands down.

My adhesive of choice isn’t listed. I swear by 3 in 1 glue from Beacon. It’s simply the best adhesive I’ve ever used. It dries quickly without wrinkles, is great for bulky embellishments, and compared to the cost of tape runner refills, is economical. It also can be used as a repositionable adhesive…just apply, let set for a few minutes and voila! I also use the red liner (e.g., “terrifically tacky”) tape for ribbons and other things.

My go-to adhesive is Art Institute Dries Clear glue, with the tiny metal tip to dispense it. It holds fabulously, using just a teen bit.ReplyCancel

I chose that you did not name mine. You have white glue listed as Elmers or 3M, etc. I use the Tombo white liquid glue and it is nowhere near what those others are. I use it almost exclusively. I like that I can make my own glue dots with it. I can put dots of glue on something, let it dry before attaching and then i am able to reposition if I’d like. I buy the glue by the box.ReplyCancel

Hi, I use several kinds of sticky stuff. My favorite is just plain old 2 sided tape, but like the Scotch brand best. Tried a store brand and had bad luck with it. Hardly ever use glue sticks as they don’t hold well for me. I do use a lot of glue dots for ribbons and very small things. And use a lot of pop dots to make things stick up. Once in a while use the white glue but not to often. Would love the tape runners, but have trouble keeping them working right. Will be interesting to see what others use. Edna B.ReplyCancel

Really, there’s an adhesive for every purpose. I prefer the ‘Tombow tape runner for layering my cards. Tombow Mono is great for light embellishments (and small areas the tape runner doesn’t get) and E6000 for the heavier ones. I use Zip pen glue for applying glitter. Then, of course, I need a glue for stained glass technique on acetate and I use Art Institute Dries Clear. Actually, that is a great glue for anything. I haven’t tried the ATG, but I think I will, now.

I wouldln’t be able to do anything if it weren’t for Fabri Tac clear glue….I hear that it has a strong smell, but don’t notice it. I use the Tombo tape runners for some items that can be placed “squarely” the first time, but FabriTac allows me to place mats, paper, etc and since it takes a bit for it to “stick”, I can easily move the items around to their proper place. I find that the white glues tend to wrinkle by beautiful paper….and I simply cannot abide that! lol

That is fairly difficult as I have certain types for various jobs. I use the small snail roller tape mostly but do use dots for 3D, Elmer’s for paper, double-sided for cardstock. It is very rare when I use a glue stick. When I use Elmer’s on paper I make sure I spread it out so as not to make wrinkles in my paper. If paper is very thin, I do use a glue stick.
That was a tough question as I really use many, depending, as I said, on the purpose for gluing.

My favourite wet glue is UHU, it sticks everything I need it to and I also use the red tape for inserts in my cards. I have others but these two are my ‘go to’ glues.

I have recently turned to the Tombo Mono glue. I love it! I was really surprised how well it sticks. And it dries quick and a little goes a long way. Great poll! I am very interested to see what everyone uses. In the past I have always used tape runners and loved them (Tombow, Duck). I live in a tropical climate now and my tape runners don’t last. It’s so frustrating! I only get to buy supplies once a year when I go back to the States to visit my family so I’ve had to resort to a glue stick lately. It sounds like a lot of your readers like the ATG gun. Maybe I’ll get one of those this year. I have avoided ones like this because I don’t want to get it and then not be able to find the refills. I use ATG all the way with Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive as my ‘go to’ glue – it has a tiny applicator tip and dries amazingly fast, I use it for making paper containers.ReplyCancel

I rarely use glue unless it is to attach embellishments and I don’t have any other choice. I use my Sctch ATG and double sided tape. I use crystal effects to add embellishments. I have other glues but rarely use them.ReplyCancel

Like so many others, I use double-sided tape for most paper sticking, but for embellies etc, I just found Scraperfect’s Best Glue Ever, and am absolutely sold on it! A friend got it for a group of us, so don’t know where she got it, but I LOVE it!ReplyCancel

Well, you didn’t name it, specifically, but I love Scotch Quick Dry. It’s great and dries fast as well as doesn’t wet the paper too much. You only need the tiniest bit, sometimes.

Also, before I used this, I used one called The Best Glue Ever. It is, also, very quick to dry and doesn’t wrinkle the paper.

I switched to the ATG runner a while back and I love it. I know it is a tad large to drag around with me so I use the E-Z Runner when I am traveling. I have tried the MS liquid glue pen and found it dried out on me before I could really use it.ReplyCancel

I use Beacon’s 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue – clear glue, about 95% of the time. It’s CHEAP (especially if you use a coupon), let’s you move your paper to the correct spot before it dries completely, and its acid-free and waterproof. Once dry, your paper layers will not separate, which has happened for me when I’ve used various 2-sided tapes. Can be a little messy if you’re not using it properly, and you must cap it when not being used otherwise it starts to evaporate and then gets really sticky.ReplyCancel

With all the Jo-Ann coupons I get/use, I buy a lot of double-sided Scotch tape. I use about and inch in each corner when making cards–I don’t tape the entire side. For embellies, I like Glossy Accents. And because you always have a clogged tip when you open the top, I’ve taped a needle to the bottle–kind of like the straw taped on a can of Wd-40. I mostly use this glue for beads so the needle also works for picking them up and placing them on the card. I would be interested in knowing what everyone uses for vellum. For some cardstock backing, tape works fine, but some colors show the tape. I have a big Scotch ATG gun but sometimes the glue/tape gets snagged or clumpy, so I’ve not used it as much lately. I had a Glue Glidder Pro but gave it to my grandson. Has anyone used Perga glue? if so, where do you buy it?ReplyCancel

I use the ATG Scotch gun also the scoretape the kind you can rip off with your fingers it sticks alot better the the red tape.also I use sticky dots Don’t use glue. at this time but I am going to read these comments and start using some of my glue.ReplyCancel

I like to have a product that will allow some working time because sometimes I can’t get the paper or element on straight/square. I bought an ATG gun thinking it would save me a ton of time and it does, provided I let the paper sit for a minimum of 1 hour after I lay the adhesive down. Even after an hour some papers want to bond too well and I have messed up a few cards, which is really frustrating. Are there tricks for using the Scotch ATG gun or am I just inept?

I like using Scor Tape for ribbon and lace and I use Scotch Photo Splits when I don’t want to fight with the gun. I use glue dots for flowers and the like.

I picked white glue, but you didn’t mention the one that I actually love, Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive! Love that stuff. Gives you time to position stuff where you want it, but dries fast and doesn’t let go! I also like Miracle Tape, from Viva Las Vegas Stamps. Come in sizes from 1/8 to 2 inches and in full sheets. Has tons on a roll and works well. I’ve got lots of others, but those are the two that I use most often. As somebody else said most peoples problems with liquid glue is that they use WAY to much! The Scotch has a small point nozzle that lets you put it where you want in small amounts, that’s really all you need!
Lots of folks want solutions for Vellum, I use some stuff called I think Wacky Tape, holds well and doesn’t show through, although I still prefer to attach some other way, like brads, eyelets, gluing under embelies, etc. Love your survey’s!

And for Auntie Em, Katemeri, Debra K, and anyone else looking for a vellum adhesive: I use Scotch vellum tape and get results that please me… and I’m admittedly picky about this sort of thing! It is widely available (Micheal’s, Joann’s, K-Mart, amazon.com, etc.), works wells, and is invisible even on thinner vellum if applied correctly. The trick, I’ve found is to place the tape on the surface to which you want to attach the vellum. Then, with the protective, pull-off paper still in place on the tape, burnish the tape well (I use a really orange orangewood manicure stick that is pretty worn down now, an actual burnishing tool – also years old – that was originally purchased for laying down dry transfer letters, or the flat side of a fingernail works well too). If the tape is well enough burnished, the pull-off backing paper removes quite easily. Then attach your vellum and “finger press” it in place. Be a little careful about rubbing the vellum if you have printing on it as some printer inks don’t dry quickly on vellum and can smearly. If in doubt, just put a piece of copy paper over the printing and then burnish against the copy paper. I really like the effect of designing my card sentiments on the computer, then printing them directly onto vellum. I can then cut the sentiment into whatever shape I want (its so easy to line up things squarely and centerd with nestabilities!) and apply it to my card. Getting the right “feel” for the burnishing of the tape – certainly not difficult, but takes a little practice to get a feel for it. Hope this info helps.

How about a category for “all of the above”? In my search for the perfect adhesive, I’ve now collected, and tested, pretty much every adhesive known to man and in many cases multiples since I often forget that I’ve already bought and tried a particular one. I could probably open my own little adhesive shop. My ultimate dream adhesive is one that is re-positionable for about 15 minutes (if I can’t get something stuck on there correctly in that amount of time then I have no business gluing at all!) and then becomes absolutely permanent. I don’t care how much companies swear their re-positionable adhesive becomes permanent, I haven’t found one yet that was. Or maybe their definition of permanent is different from mine. In my book, if it falls off–ever–it’s not permanent. I don’t want to spend all that time making a card for someone and then have it fall apart when they open it. I love the “idea” of the double-sided tape (love the Score tape), but like one of the other ladies mentioned, I am definitely position challenged too, and as someone else said, the tape is very unforgiving. I need that reposition time to get it right. For that reason I have pretty much gone back to the white (dries clear) glue. I mostly use Sobo. What I do is dab teeny tiny dots of glue all over the back of the piece leaving a .25 to .375 space around the outside edge to allow for spread. I usually put a piece of scrap paper on top to prevent smudges and what not and lightly press it all with my hand/fingers.
