Sweet Friends!  Happy Easter!  He is Risen!  My best wishes to you and your loved ones as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord!

I spent a blissful yesterday amongst sweet friends at a wonderful stamping meeting.  I have the blessed fortune of being in a club of wonderful women who have gathered each month for over nine years.  My precious friend Nancy is a CTMH representative and she emails us and tells us how many pieces of paper to bring and then we show up and get busy while we have no idea what we are making.  You can’t know how rewarding it is to show up and be the student.  Yesterday, Nancy sat us down with a paper cutter and called out sizes for us to cut and this is what we ended up with.  Can you believe it???  As she would say, and I wholeheartedly agree, this is stinkin’ cute!!  What an appropriate gift for a little one today.  It contains just enough chocolate to remind you of how much you like it but not as much as a diabetic Easter Basket, lol!!

This little box holds two Ghirardelli bars and eight chocolate nuggets.  Unfortunately I don’t have instructions to pass along because I didn’t design it, but I could not resist sharing it.  I’ll certainly add it to my repertoire for gift giving time.   The papers I pulled were Colorbok, Flea Market and some Bazzill Paper.  I don’t always make the right choice when I’m working blind on a project, but this time I think I got it right.

Have a wonderful Easter!  Blessings!!

First, your bows were awesome and thanks for the ideas. Second this box and chocolates are fabulous, what a fun idea and wonderful day you had. My friends DH made us all bow makers off your’s and they are fantastic, he used a lot more pegs but we can just take them off so it works great. Thanks so much for the instructions.ReplyCancel

Oh my gosh – it IS stinkin’ cute! The creativity the comes through this blog is mind boggling. I know how dear these club meetings can be. It’s so fun to be able to step outside of the box even if just for a little while, and share fun and laughter with others. In my mothers day, it was quilting bee’s. It’s always something to look forward to. I’m glad for you that you have that opportunity.

May you also receive the blessings from the One who lives. This is the highest, the apex of all we have or will ever have…a place with our Lord. This gift, so freely given but ignored by too many…what a forfeit for a worldly life.”I serve a risen Savior; He’s in the world to day, I know that He is living, no matter what men may say… He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today…He walks with me and talks with me, along life’s narrow way, He lives, He lives; salavation to impart. You ask me how I know He lives…He lives within my heart.
You are such a blessing to me.

Hey Peg Bow Maker, meet Flower Loom :-)  Seriously, your husbands and boyfriends are going to tire of me I think, lol!!  Well so many of you asked how to make the flower I made on this post and I chuckled because I had to make a flower loom to make that flower.  Why make a flower loom?  Well I suppose you can buy them somewhere, I’ve not seen one and mine is very inexpensive.  The round box I made it from costs $1.00 plus some additional hardware.  So anyways, this is such a cute and easy way to make these ribbon flowers.   I made all the sweet flowers above with this little contraption below, my flower loom :-)  It now has a place on my shelf next to my Peg Bow Maker.

Here are some options when looking for a cylindrical item to make the loom.  The small box at Michaels is $1.00, I found yet another round box and a birdhouse whose roof I removed.  How about a wooden flower pot?

Here is a close up picture of the rivets I purchased (at Home Depot).  I only needed 16 of them but this multipack was all they had.

Here’s the video tutorial to show you how to make the loom, describe what you need and how to make your first flower on the loom, enjoy!

By the way, should you make a loom and show on your blog or elsewhere, I’d appreciate a link back to this post for the work I put into this.   Thanks!!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: None
Paper: None
Ink: None
Accessories: 1 Round Box, 1 5/64ths drill bit, 2″ Nail, 16 – 1/8″ Rivets with 1/2″ grip

Thanks so much for stopping by. I sincerely hope you will give this a try – it’s an easy tutorial and gives you one more thing you can make to embellish your cards with out breaking the bank!!

Oh Becca, Becca, Becca…now I know why you picked the name for your blog!! You truly are ONE AMAZING LADY in more ways than one. I’m really in awe of your talent!! I’ll never get my hubby to make one of these looms or I’d have to wait ages for him to do it and as you know us crafters want something yesterday! Lol! So I’m thinking of a circular piece of polystyrene and adding the rivets (or maybe cocktail sticks) to that and not forgetting the nail in the centre! I’m hoping this will work for the time being.
Thank you so much for another amazing tutorial.

    Love Sheila xxReplyCancel

what a coincidence – I just found a yarn flower in my stash that I got from a Etsy purchase and I was going to go out and buy one to use with all my threads and yarns. I crochet flowers but wanted a different flower. Hence the need for a little loom. Gosh – I had one of these looms when I was a kid. Brings back memories. good job on the video.ReplyCancel

Becca, what a wonderful tutorial. Love these little flowers. I make hats on a loom and donate them to a Childrens hospital (they use them for cancer patients and to hand out in the emergency ward) or to homeless shelters. I have recently started blinging them a bit with crocheted flowers but it is slow going for me as it hurts my hands. This is perfect. And, I love how you can embellish them even more to make larger flowers. Oh, won’t the little girls just love these. Thank you so much for sharing. Hmmm, now where is that drill?ReplyCancel

I love the way your mind works and all the delightful things you come up with and share with us. My son often brings me little scraps of things from his work and challenges me to make something out of it. Thank you!! For the flower loom directions and the flower tutorial too! Your ideas are truely amazing.
I am also happy to see you are finally asking for a link back when people show your ideas on their blogs. I have seen too many people ” lift” your ideas and presented as their own original ideas . Not everyone is as fair and honest are you are. Your ideas are some of the few original ideas out there.ReplyCancel

Happy Easter Becca! Thanks for another wonderful video. Your instructions to make the flower loom are very clear and I hope that I can find a wooden box soon to make one for myself. (They certainly aren’t such a great price at Michaels in Canada — closer to $5 or $6!)ReplyCancel

These flowers are so cute. I remember when I was little and I had the nails in the empty wooden thread holder. I loved making the endless knitted strand to “nowhere.” Going out and getting the hardware today. Thanks again for sharing your time and talents. Happy Easter-“He has Risen!” CindyReplyCancel

Love your cards, bows, projects, ideas and think you have a wonderful selfless gift for sharing your talent with us. Thank you Becca. • UKmaryanneApril 24, 2011 - 1:44 am

I made mine from foam core and cardboard, with wodden pegs. Almost a year ago and it is still going strong! Unfortunately we don’t have Michaels in the UK so I had to make do with what I could find in my scrap room or around the house :) Now I may have to see if I can source those metal pegs. They are much thinner than the wooden ones and may make for a more delicate loop. And I sewed the middles, more like when using a traditional 1970s flower loom, but just popping a brad thru is a whole lot easier!

You may recall me linking to your lovely Fleur di Lis ornament a month or so back. I still haven’t managed it, but I will one day. It’s still one of my all time fave projects from the net!

    Happy Easter to you.

Great idea once again Becca. As I was watching your tutorial, I was thinking, hey, you could cut the ends of the loops and using another layer, also with cut loops, you would wind up with an astor like flower. Maybe I will try this idea myself….my mind is whirling so out to the shop I go..ReplyCancel

Love the bow maker(s)! Have to make a trip to Home Depot for some of the “ingredients. I have a difficult time making anything smaller than a pew bow by hand, so your tools will give me a hand (get it?!?!?) to make card size bows and ribbon flowers that aren’t lopsided. Keep up the good work!ReplyCancel

Love the little loom. I’m going to get out and take my coupon with me to save 40% off the little box. Hopefully they have some left and I can get it for 60 cents. Now if I just had a coupon to Home Depot.

On the tape runner glues – stay away from the brand that Walmart sells (don’t know if I can name it). The glue just doesn’t stick well. I made a card and when I got ready to mail it a couple of days later, it had come apart. Found an ATV on Overstock.com today for $25 with one refill. Think it will order it today. Your endorsement is good enough for me!ReplyCancel

I am excited to see this about flower looms. I have a Hana-Ami Flower Loom by Clover that cost me about $16. I think they may sell them at Joanns or Michaels, I got mine on Ebay. The cool thing about the Hana-Ami loom is that it comes with 3 different sized circle looms, 2 sizes of squares, and one hexagon. Also, by using 2 different sizes at once, you can make double layer flowers. I darn the middle of my flowers to hold them together. There are video tutorials too for using the Hana-Ami loom. I really love it, and I love buying ribbon yarns in variegated colors to use with it.ReplyCancel

Oh, I hope this isn’t getting old, but there’s another winner. It will only take a second to click over and see if it’s you!!  By the way, let me ‘splain why there’s so much paper to go around.  I really liked the Prima and the Girls Paperie but the paper can’t be purchased as single sheets – I was able to get it in packages of 12.  Well, you know me, I tend to hoard.  There is no way I’ll use all 12 sheets of these collections so I’m also determined that I won’t let it sit on my shelf until it’s discontinued and no longer attainable either.  Stay tuned, I”m using mine and giving the rest away!!

Okay, so back to the other winner.  On April 20th when I did the add on, I also offered an extra set of buttons to people who left a comment that day between 6pm and midnight.  I’ve pulled a number from those comments and here it is.  Please reach out to me through my contact page and send me your address so I can get the buttons in the mail. After 4 hours I’ll pick another name.

Recapping today:

Through comments left on my other post today I learned that today is Earth Day, in fact Reader Judy says save the planet . . it’s the only one with chocolate!!  Hoo boy that made me laugh.  Reader, Chaun said that Starbucks is giving away a free cup of coffee and that word certainly gets our attention.

My sweet friend Bonnie Weiss made a peg bow maker that is to die for – you can see it at http://thepinkdawghouse.blogspot.com/2011/04/bpbs.html

If you make a bow maker, feel free to send me the link (but don’t put the link in a comment or it will be eaten by my spam box – send it to me through my contact page – so I will see it)!!  My bow maker is very functional and works quite well although it’s not so pretty . . . the ones that you all are showing me sure are pretty and very well made!!

I couldn’t be more blessed if I tried – God is so good!!  It’s such a pleasure to read the back and forth of the comments and the caring voice of friends near and far away but close enough to touch on my computer screen.    Not only do you communicate with me, but you communicate with each other.  If you leave a comment at the beginning of the day, it’s well worth it to come back and see what everyone else said.  You all rock!!

Becca, I missed the fact that you recently marked one of those difficult special days since John died. I will offer you one of the things I have found helped me deal with my husband’s birthdays.
Chuck didn’t particularly care for cake, but he dearly loved two crust lemon pie. So I made a couple and took them to friends who are caring for invalid elder family members. They have little free time for baking so the pies meant a lot to them and doing something nice for them helped me deal with what would otherwise have been a very sad day. I will continue this tradition in his memory, which would have pleased him. He was a very generous and giving person. You don’t have to bake, but do something he would have enjoyed, for someone else in his memory.

I’m going to go into his den and give my DH a big hug and kiss right now because of you two and because life is so precious and we never know how long we’ll have these precious gifts with us. Hi Becca I’ve been away for the last 5 days had a lovely break while our dear daughter is in respite. We went to a beautiful island off the south coast of the UK and God blessed us with wonderful weather …temps reached 27 degrees which is so unusual for mid summer let alone April!
Hope you have a wonderful Easter. I bought a peg bowmaker from Ebay for 99 pence as I was waiting too long for hubby to make one. I made one ages ago out of 4 cocktail sticks and a piece of polystyrene …it actually worked quite well too!
