Hi there blog friends. Have you ever been in the position where you need a quick gift but you want it to look elegant, like you’ve fussed over it for a while?  I like to always have a “go to” project that I can do in a pinch with no thought or stress.   Today my project is a Potpourri Holder that easily doubles as a holder for Sachets,  Hot Chocolate, a Packet of Cards, Bath Salts and a variety of other other items.  This holder is a blank canvas just waiting for you breath life into whatever occasion you need!!   Switch out the punches, switch out the paper, and the whole theme changes effortlessly.

I am the “Time With” Designer over at the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog today.  So exact measurements, a supply list as well as a step by step guide to make this gift item are waiting for you there!   I’m using Our Daily Bread Designs Scripture Collection 6.  Remember my Angel Pins?  I used one on this project!  Also I dipped into my stash of The Girls Paperie Paper for this version because it’s a nice weight, double sided paper.  I hope you’ll give it a try!!  Note: You need a sturdy cardstock weight for this project, the heavier, the better.  You’ll also need an aggressive adhesive like Scor-Tape to keep it together.  This holder is sized for items 4 3/4″ x 7″ but is easily sized down by making your top and bottom flaps larger.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Scripture Collection 6
Paper: The Girls Paperie, Bazzill
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black and clear embossing powder
Accessories: Spellbinders Parisian Motifs, Spellbinders Classic Circle LG, Spellbinders Petite Scalloped Circles LG, Spellbinders Parisian Accents, Prima Pearls, Recollections Flower, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Scor-Tape, Scor-Pal

I hope you enjoy!!

I have a question. What do you do with all your projects after posting them? The bows are so beautiful would be hard to get into an envelop to mail to a friend and the cards are too beautiful to put in a box. You must display they somehow; I’m very curious :-)

Wow Becca, really, really pretty. I have purchased the same potpourri at Bed Bath and Beyond so many times and really like it because it keeps it’s fragrance for a long time.
For some time now I have been trying to figure out a gift for Claudia, our local Staples store manager, who understands my disability and I can call her in advance and tell her what things I need and she will have them at the register for me. And finally…. an absolutely perfect gift…. and I know she will like it. I am so glad that you created this potpourri holder and shared it today. You know how when you see a play, it’s sometimes hard to take in everything that’s happening on the stage at once? The main action has your attention, but you keep noticing things out of the corner of your eye? And, in a good play, it’s all balanced just right. Well, that’s how I feel when I see your creations! They aren’t just cards, or holders, or decor–they are EVENTS! I had to look at this several times before I realized you had put small pieces of lace next to the flourish. I never would have thought to do that. It’s perfect. This is stunning! I’ll definitely be adding this link to my favorites.ReplyCancel

This is so pretty, I tried it yesterday after I got back from my card making class that I attend each week. It was very easy to put together, but like another lady said a video would be helpful for all of us visual learners. Hi there friends! I’m sharing a card made with a new set from JustRite Stampers.  The set is called Faith and because the artwork is so elegant, it zooms right up to the top of my list.  The compact size makes it fit or conveniently match many of the different Spellbinder sets – today I’ve used Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares.  The bonus is, these are all backwardly compatible to previously released JustRite sets – in other words you can swap in other square and round sentiments from other sets to make this set more versatile.  The swirl elements in this set are just amazing!!

My medallions for this card is Spellbinders Labels Sixteen followed by Spellbinders Labels Fourteen followed by Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares.  I cut the final square with my paper cutter after I had heat embossed my piece because I wanted to get right on the line.  I have some grosgrain ribbon that matches this sweet blue green color but every time I photograph it, it ends up looking neon.   We live in a matchy, matchy world, so this time I dyed my own by using two drops of Adirondack Alcohol Ink in the color called Stream and added some of the Adirondack Alcohol Blending Solution.  It dries lickety split, but since I didn’t want crumpled ribbon this time, I ironed it with my tiny iron.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite Stampers – Faith
Paper: My Minds Eye, Bazzill, Coredinations Tan Pearl
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Prussian Blue, Versafine Onyx Black and Clear Embossing Powder
Accessories: Spellbinders Labels Sixteen, Spellbinders Labels Fourteen, Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares, Pearls, Seam Binding, Adirondack Stream Alcohol Ink, Adirondack Alcohol Blending Solution, The Paper Studio Brad, Recollections Pearls

This has just simply taken my breath away. The colours are adorable – and the ribbon looks so soft and beautifully vintage and graceful all at the same time. I love how you labelled this up – its completely something that i’ve never tried before because i’m not sure whether my recipient would ‘get it’… however – if they saw yours, they’d be equally breathless cos its simply stunning.

Hi Becca! Just lovely. I’m proud of Just Rite for stepping out on “faith” and making a set of stamps that not only is beautiful to look at, but allows us to create cards and gifts that give hope, offer prayer and proclaim to all that our faith sustains us through any circumstance. There is no doubt that I love red and when these poppy stamps came my way this month, well red was certainly on deck.  Oh my goodness, you have to love poppies – do they even come other than red, lol?  Paired with white and kept simple, I really wanted to design a card where you could see the poppies front and center.

This month Our Daily Bread Designs released a matching die to go with the poppy stamp – this was as easy as pie.   I’m using the stamp set called Mothers Day and the single poppy die from ODBD.  I popped it up on a base made using an embossing folder that I trimmed with a red layer.  Then I simply stamped my sentiment onto a cut made with Spellbinders Nested Pennants and mounted my poppies on the end.  I haven’t done a big bow in a while so I did it while I still had room on the card, lol!!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Mother’s Day
Paper:  Bazzill
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Memento Onyx Black
Accessories: Our Daily Bread Designs – Poppy Die, Spellbinders Nested Pennants, Sizzix Embossing Folder

I’ll be back tomorrow with something new from JustRite!!  Hope to see you then!

    Hi Becca

Poppies have to be my favourite flower and have a special meaning to me as they remind me of my Dad.

You can get poppies in many colours – we have pinks and lilac colours here in the UK, and oranges and deep reds. There is also a species called Californian Poppy which have delicate colours in and even an orange that is like a marigold. Beautiful.
