Today I’m sharing a sweet little tutorial that has been on my to do list for a long time.   It’s so easy, I don’t know what took me so long!   Last year I had a blog hop and had to think of something other than a card, in a pinch.  In the wee hours of the morning the simplicity of this little button caddy came to me.  Whenever I think of buttons I just smile.  They are so very addicting and I collected them when I started sewing.  Don’t collect buttons?  Tailor this caddy to carry something else :-)

To keep within the allotted time, I had to heavily edit this video – why oh why can’t I just talk faster, lol?

Here are the supplies you will need:

Heavy card stock – 1 sheet 12″ x 12″
Design Paper – 1 sheet 12″ x 12″
Scor-Pal or Scor-Buddy
Scor-Tape
1″ Circle Punch
Craft Knife
Two Small Jars
Assorted Button

An earnest request:  tutorials and videos like these take a lot of time to set up and produce.  It’s my pleasure to make them and I would so appreciate if you could please link here instead of copying my content or putting my video on your blog.   If you like it and make one to show on your blog, please link back to my post so that others may enjoy this for free as well :-)

This is an excellent – frugal gift!!

Take care blog friends!!  I hope you are having a glorious weekend!!

Another great tutorial. Thanks Becca. Just to say that you can actually stop people showing your video on their own sites by not allowing embedding when you publish, or have published, your video to You Tube. If you go to My Video then click on Edit on whichever video you want to disallow embedding on, scroll down until you see Embed on the left, click on it and you have choices as to allow or not. You should be able to do it as you publish as well but you can certainly go in afterwards and do it for all of your previous videos as well. That way other people will have no choice but to at least use a You Tube link, if not your blog link.ReplyCancel

Pink, yes, ah, pink, so girly and so light and airy of a color. I was reading some comments and love some of the neat ideas. I don’t know anyone who would appreciate buttons but I think with the proper papers and embellishments it would make a cute Father’s Day gift, fill the jars with knots and bolts or nuts and candies. For a new baby cotton balls and Q-tips. The first one I make will be for a my sister who loves candles and long baths so I’ll put in one of those candles in a jar and a bottle of bath salts. So many possibilities! Love it! Thanks for the inspiration and the tutorial. Your tutorials are wonderful and I love your sweet voice. Wouldn’t be right if you spoke faster.

After Spellbinders and some JustRite stamps my third wish for would be more of the Whiff of Joy girl stamps. Wish some of the older ones I see in various archives were still available.
I saw that some commenters on your button post were wishing for cheap buttons. I have a Sizzix Sizzlit die that cuts 4 different buttons and at my crop shop they have a punch that does about the same. Then you can always have the exact color you need as well as an endless supply. Thought you might like to pass that on.

Hi there blog friends!!  I’m sandwiching a sweet little blog candy in between the blog hop of yesterday and the one I have coming tomorrow!!  Woohoo!!  I’ve been using a new paper that I absolutely love from the Girls Paperie.  It’s so romantic and feminine.  All I can say is they hit the nail on the head with this collection.  It is sold in individual sheets and there are 13 different double sided sheets.   Just leave me a comment telling me what craft items are at the top of your wish list.  I’ll publish a winner on Tuesday April 5th.  Feel free to leave a comment each day (remember comments are slightly delayed in appearing on my blog, hit your refresh key when you check back) and I’ll pick a winner with random.org who will have 48 hours to claim their prize.    In the meantime, to prevent any confusion, here’s what’s going on for the first few day so April.

Our Daily Bread Designs revealed April releases – you have until 8:00pm on April 2nd to leave a comment to be eligible to win a prize.  Be sure to scroll down to the post dated April 1 and leave your comment there.  Winners are picked on Sunday, April 3rd.
Now is as good a time as any!!  I’m sandwiching in a sweet blog candy – a packet of the new Girls Paperie Paper.  You’ve seen me use it, it’s adorable and oh so feminine!!   The sheets are sold individually and I have 13 different double sided sheets put together.  Just leave a comment on this post of April 2nd telling me what craft items you have at the top of your wish list.  Winner will be posted here on Tuesday, April 5th.

Also, just wanted to share that your Michael’s store is much more generous than usual. The Michael’s policy is NOT to do what yours did last week with regard to honoring Hobby Lobby ads. The Policy is not to honor them unless it shows the one specific item at a specific price – not the 40% off adhesives like our ad was. My Michael’s refused to honor it and the Company policy backed them up. They said your Michael’s Store must recognize you as a great customer is why the local manager decided to honor it for you.ReplyCancel

I am sort of a ‘Plain Jane’ in many of my pursuits in scrapbooking and cardmaking. I used to love Simple Scrapbooks because of the plain ideas in it. However, I love interesting papers–with polka dots and stripes and plaids. I am doing cards again that I call toodle tweeties–three different patterns of birds cut from patterned papers with a lot of doodling in the tails, a feather top knot, and a black beady drad for an eye. They take time but then I can do the doodling in front of the tv! Those papers are gorgeous–thank you for the chance at them.ReplyCancel

Your papers always amaze me. I would be honored to use some. They are always so tastefully used and would be an asset to whomever wins them.

Top of my list is some of the new spellbinder dies. Also some new cuttlebug folders. I used my plain heart die in the grand calibur and it bent it up. Got any idea why.ReplyCancel

  • Lynne IngramApril 2, 2011 - 8:57 am

Can’t wait for tomorrow. The paper is beautiful. Love blog hops. Top of my wish list is all the new CHA dies from Spellbinders and the Grand Calibur. 2nd is the “bird” stamps by Dawn, then to start a collection of Copic markers. Oh, and some of the new stamps from Heartfelt……There is so much to wish for. Thanks for the chance to win this lovely prize.ReplyCancel

  • Jeanielou KaufmanApril 2, 2011 - 8:58 am

That truly is a ‘girly’ paper. I love tiny flowers, etc. in my backgrounds. I really use too much solid kinds. Small checks and polka dots are my favorites. I shall look into this particular paper resource. Thanks for sharing all these great finds with us.

Becca – Beautiful papers! Are you sure you want to part with them? I JUST read that this line will no longer be manufactured, as the designer is parting company with Advantus and going out on her own. Girls – stock up while it’s still available!

My top items on my wish list are always the Marianne Creatables dies. As much as I love my Spellbinders (and have MANY) the Dutch dies add an element of lacey and feminine that I adore.ReplyCancel

Hey Becca! I love these papers. I’ve never used any of the Girls papers. I have just gotten some Graphic 45 papers (Springtime). I love the fairies. I’m planning a mini album with them . As for new things, I’m tryinng to decide if I should upgrade from my Cuttlebug, or just get the longer cutting plates. I really only use it for embossing and the couple of nesties I do have. (I won’t be able to buy the new big spellbinders dies as they’re so expnsive.) So maybe I’ll just use the money to get some more dies!
Thans for the chance to win.
    Hugs,JessicaReplyCancel

Ooooh! You’re so sweet, Becca! What scrummy paper!
I’m glad you asked what craft items (plural) :o)
But the list is so long ;o)
    Grand Nestabilities
    Marianne D dies
    Copic Markers
    Pro Markers
    Alphabet dies…
Crafting has many levels. You buy the basics because you think that’s all you need. Then you realise that if only you had x and y, you could do so much more – and so it goes on. As soon as you have reached a new level, you seamlessly move to the next without taking breath :o)

I just subscribed today. Your site is so beautiful and calming! I just recently got back into stamping after having to sell almost all my craft supplies on eBay about 5 or 6 years ago when my husband was out of work. I forgot how relaxing it is to create something with some paper and ink and rubber stamps! On the top of my wish list is a dedicated work space to store and work on my projects :) Thanks for the opportunity to win something in your sweet little contest.ReplyCancel

  • SnoopyApril 2, 2011 - 10:20 pm

    Hi Becca!

My newest discovery and “have to have” are the new GEO-Dies Pop Ups from Joanna Sheen. Do you remember those metal templates where you scored a bunch of angles in a row, cut them with an exacto knife and then folded them back and tucked them under the previous one? Well now they have dies for the templates. Great look and no exacto knife.
The papers look fantastic! Thanks so much for offering them.

    I hope I win! I hope I win! I hope I win!

    Hugs,
    Snoopy :D

No matter how much paper that I bought, it just never feel enough; then the dies, every time I saw a die on someone’s crafting blog, bought it & be happy for a while, then later saw another die that I really like on someone else blog & want a die again … the bad cycle never end…ReplyCancel

    Good Morning Becca
At the top of my ‘Wish List’ is that some day I will have the creative ability to make cards like yours.
If not that, then I would have to say…I wish for…the Geo-Dies. They look like they take all that hard work out of forming the lacey foldup diecuts. No more having to spend hours with a craft knife cutting angles, yeah!

There are so many things on my wish list it’s hard to decide what I’d put at the very top… I’m not so good at prioritizing! LOL!! I would really like to have more sentiment stamps. Not just things like “Happy birthday” or “Thinking of You”, but quotes and scripture verses and things like that. I’ve been trying to collect those kinds of stamps lately but it’s not easy finding good ones at prices I can afford. I see really wonderful ones online, but it’s so expensive to buy them that way. So, I keep looking locally so I can use coupons. I’ve only been making cards for a couple of years, so I guess it’s just something I’ll have to continue working on and over the years maybe I’ll end up with a variety of sentiment stamps that will suit me.ReplyCancel

  • Ann Marie GovernaleApril 4, 2011 - 4:47 am

I am very blessed to have most of the tools and toys- although there is always something new coming out that I must have! What I would love, eventually, is to move my “stash” into a room and have it all in a craft room of my own. Right now I have my things in a converted garage- one third of it is my space and it is great, but then I share it with a washer & dryer, golf clubs, bookcase and all the “extras” from Price Club that I cannot fit in my cabinets. Last night, God told me I may have too much when one of the two shelves on the wall fell off and tons of binders of stamps came flying at me – I felt like I was trying to hold back a tornado!!! As my son is graduating from college next year- and I don’t want to rush my time with him- I know he wants to move on and out on his own, then I will have that space- but it is bittersweet! Again, I am very blessed and if this were the only space I have,I am still so grateful to be able to pursue my art and my joy no matter where it is!!ReplyCancel

My CB is still my most used tool….for cutting, embossing. Right now I am making 120 magnets out of coasters using my nesties, and punches to give as welcome gifts to a group of ladies for a retreat weekend in May. The way things have turned out I can’t make it this year but it is a chance to lift them up as I put each layer, from saying to flower together with a little touch of bling. My CB has been a lifesaver during this process.ReplyCancel

Where do you start first? I could do nothing but cut out shapes all day with all the new dies. I love them!! Have a great day! Hugs, LindaReplyCancel

  • Paulette S. in MOApril 5, 2011 - 10:36 pm

LOL I thought you wanted to know what our favorite tools were. I just answered the latest poll about what would we spend surprise money on. I think I would go for the copic markers. I have Bic Mark Its, and Sharpies in bold colors and metallics. I even got the 50 pc. washable Crayola set just to see if I would like using markers for coloring in stamped images and I do if I’m in a hurry. My favorite way to color in my images is the Aqua painter and my SU dye reinkers, in an artist palette, they last FOREVER. LOL I just add a couple of drops of water to them and they come to life again and again. People exclaim when they receive a card painted with them and think I’ve spent a lot of time, when in reality it’s so fast and forgiving especially if your hand doesn’t like holding a pen or paint brush and mine does not because I had carpal tunnel in my artsy hand. I think the big barrel of the aqua painter is what makes it so easy to use. And I don’t fill mine with water, I just use a cup of water to dip in and rinse in. Easy peasy. =D Love all of your cards and projects Becca.ReplyCancel

As you can tell, I love my Spellbinders layers and this medallion is made (from bottom up) using Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Rectangles, Spellbinders Labels Twenty, Spellbinders Labels Eighteen, Spellbinders Elegant Posts and a final Labels Eighteen turned vertical.  The second stamp set I used is called Bird and Butterfly Labels and as you can see, it was designed to match Spellbinders Labels Eighteen!!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Bird and Butterfly Labels, Mothers Day Set
Paper:  K & Co., Darice – Tan Pearl, The Paper Company
Ink: Green Dye Based Ink, Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories:
Spellbinders Labels Eighteen, Spellbinders Labels Twenty, Spellbinders Elegant Posts, Spellbinders Nested Pennants, Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Rectangles. Pearls, Ribbon

    Fantastic card. Love it.
And just wanted to say that you are extremely lucky that Michael’s honored the Hobby Lobby advertisement this week for percentage off all adhesives, because the local Michael’s has refused. And the corporation says it’s up to each local manager if they want to do that or not, because it is NOT Michael’s policy to honor unless it’s for the specifically identified item in a printed advertisement (must show picture of item, size, name etc fully). So, enjoy your goodies – and I won’t be shopping at Michael’s any more since they don’t make all stores honor the same things.ReplyCancel

Wow, Becca! What amazing use of Spellbinder’s! I have never (I don’t think) seen so many layers on one card! (What IS your record number?) They look beautiful and I love the colors you chose. I love the apricot/peach with the shades of brown…and the Bird and Butterfly Label is just so fresh! I like the sentiment, too. Normally, I love all of the Scriptural references that ODBD uses. However, I understand that there are often occassions when the recipient is not yet a Believer…like in my family. This would work fine for that occassion.

Thanks for sharing! God bless you and yours, Becca!

    Hi Becca,

I love this card. It’s very sweet, very beautiful, we want to keep it in our hands, and to make an interior decoration. So, it is a true work of art in my eyes!

I come as regularly as possible on your blog, because it is a real treat for the eyes and soul.

I’d love to do a little exchange of a card with you, without any pretension. Do you think this is possible? *red*red*

And thank you for all the tutorials that you show us.

Anyway, your blog is a breath of beauty, a haven of peace. I love coming here.

    Best regards
