Hello there blog friends.  First, my prayers go out to the people in Japan and all those affected by that horrific earthquake last night.  I was up late watching the news when it happened and simply could not believe my eyes.  The tsunami was unbelievable.  While I was watching I just kept saying “oh no” and I guess my tone had enough alarm that my dog came in to see what I was so alarmed about.  Thankfully there was some notice and the Japanese are accustomed to earthquakes.   Again, my prayers.

I do have a card to share today using some of the new releases from Our Daily Bread Designs.  The sentiment is from a set called Daffodil Tag Set and I’m also using a new set called Fancy Labels.  I took the opportunity to use some of my Zva Pearls – they are the perfect elegant embellishment.  Also, even though you all think I’m the wide ribbon girl – the seam binding I used today has the dreamiest drape.  I only wish that other ribbons had the same weight and feel and behaved like this.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Daffodil Tag Set, Fancy Labels
Paper: DCWV, Bazzill, Gold Foil
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Prussian Blue
AccessoriesSpellbinders Labels Seventeen, Spellbinders Labels Fourteen, Zva Creative Pearls, Recollections Flower

I’m working on a Becca Bit you’ve requested for later on today.  Come back and see me!!  Happy Friday!!

Beautiful card as all of your cards are!!

I could not sleep and turned on the computer. I have been watching the BBC live streaming coverage for hours . My heart goes out to all the people affected. Not only in Japan , but all the people in countries that are in the path of the Tsunami . Watching that Tsunami roll into Japan was terrifying. The BBC said this was the strongest earthquake in Japanese history. It will be days before they know the extent of the damage and lost lives. We all need to Pray for them!ReplyCancel

  • MazMarch 11, 2011 - 5:58 am

    Hi Becca!
My prayers also go to the Japanese People. How devastating for them. I have a nephew living in Japan. Thank the Lord that he is okay. It happened at 5pm my time in Australia. I was like you Becca. Totally stunned.

Your card is beautiful. I love this scripture. I say this one every day when I pray. I love your flower. I love to make flowers. Not that I have for a long time.
I love the frame. It’s gorgeous.

    Becca,
I’m pretty new to your blog and I love it not only for the beauty of your art but for the words that I read on them! So inspiring, it’s almost like having a devotional moment :) every time I look at your cards.

Anyhow, I was curious as to how you line up your stamp to fit perfectly in the unscrolly area of the zva pearls? Which do you put down first? The stamped sentiment or the pearls?

Thank you for sharing what you love to do!ReplyCancel

Wanted to pop in and say thank you for your sweet words about Japan and the TSUNAMI. My entire family is lives in Tokyo so imagine my surprise to read/listen to the news when I woke up. Thank goodness for FB. I was able to get a hold of them (phone lines are down)…they are safe…shaken but OK. I visited SENDAI where the TSUNAMI hit – it is a beautiful place. So sad for the area and its residence. Again, thank you, sweet lady for mentioning us. xoReplyCancel

I don’t traditionally listen to tv news, but I too was up late, and I heard about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. I am not a worrier by nature. Because if I can not change things, I refuse to worry about them. But the news is so full of all sorts of horrible things, it’s almost impossible not to worry! Does that make sense? I was up late because my boyfriend called to tell me his mom is back in the hospital. So I slept about two hours total.
It’s going to be a long day! Please pray for her (Bev), and the family.
Thanks for your lush, and lovely card! I love the gold!

Hi there blog friends.  You all are as sweet as can be.  I wanted to let you know that your words are always encouraging – thank you!!  I have a card to share today with a sentiment that on first glance seems so simple but ah . . . it is wise indeed!  I only wish I it was as easy to heed it was to make this card, lol!   What do you think?  This scrumptious verse is available at Quietfire Design and is called Don’t Let Yesterday.  I picked out one of my most favorite of the new Spellbinders releases – Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Rectangles and stacked them up.  They are so elegant that after matching several colors to work with, I did an about face and went to gold.

To highlight the sentiment, I matted it using Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio Two and to extend it I simply cut and extra and appended the ends.   The Fleur de Lis Rectangles are so decorative that they really dominate the card.  I added a simple sheer bow and pearls for a little bit of balance.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Quietfire Design – Don’t Let Yesterday
Paper:  The Paper Company, Gold Foil
Ink: Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder
Accessories: Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares, Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two, Spellbinders Classic Squares LG, Pearls, sheer ribbon

Hope you are having a splendid day!  Big hugs, friends, I’ll see you soon!

  • sandi ackermanMarch 10, 2011 - 1:38 pm

Amen Amen Amen to the verse. If yesterdays bad stuff ( or sometimes even the good stuff) takes over the thoughts of today, you have no room for the gifts that God wants to send your way. You have way to many wonderful things . I almost wait to see what you are going to share next. The verses are sometimes exactly what God wants to tell me that day too. So now that I have read the verse, I suppose I should actually take time to look at all of your hard work on the card. Thanks.ReplyCancel

Hi there, blog friends!  I spent some time in the craft room this evening and worked up something using one of the new JustRite Stampers sets from their Cling Collection called Elegant Frames. It’s my first time to use this particular set and it’s oh, so pretty!!   These thick frames were designed to match Spellbinders Labels Ten but I had no problem getting away with using the oval.   So, I had a date with my Grand Calibur! Seriously, I’m an so in love with being able to make shape cards with the Grand Nesties.   That’s what I did with Spellbinders Grand Labels One – I simply folded my cardstock and oriented the fold line at the top of the die template – then moved the edge of the folded line down until I knew my card would be 5.5″ tall.  That’s it!!  It’s nice to take a break from the square card!

The medallion I created consists of Spellbinders Grommet Tags, layered on Spellbinders Classic Ovals SM, layered on Spellbinders Labels Seventeen, layered on Spellbinders Parisian Motifs, lastly layered on Spellbinders Labels Eight.  I think they all fit together rather nicely :-)

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite Stampers – Elegant Frames
Paper: Coredinations, K & Company
Ink: Versafine Vintage Sepia
Accessories: Spellbinders Classic Ovals SM, Spellbinders Labels Seventeen, Spellbinders Parisian Motifs, Spellbinders Labels Eight, Spellbinders Grand Labels One, Spellbinders Grommet Tags, Pearls, Ribbon

Take care sweet friends.  I’ll pop in again tomorrow with something new!!
