Are you surprised?  By the way, Happy Valentines Day!!  I hope you have a wonderful day planned and that you shower love and attention on those you love as well as take joy in the special attention given to you.  I hope you are enjoying my Blogaversary – only a couple more days left!!  So we have trinkets, trinkets and more trinkets for the Blogaversary Box.  I received such great feedback on the Angels that I thought the winner would love some too!!  If you are just joining the blogaversary conversation, you’ll want to start out HERE to find out about what I’m celebrating and to leave a comment. This is an add-on that will go into the Blogaversary Box. If the winner has left a comment on the same day this add-on appears, the item goes into their box!

Happy Monday!!  I’m working on a project that I’ll be finishing up today.  See you soon!!

What a wonderful gift for the recipient of this blog candy! I am hoping to find the pieces at my local Michael’s of Hobby Lobby. When does inspiration stike you–at the moment you see the peices, or later, while roaming the aisles of the store before you leave to return to purchase the items? O Becca, what a beauty! No wonder it comes from you being an angel yourself! Happy Valentine.s Day. And speaking of love let me share this with you:
“Love is the cause of God’s revelation unto man, the vital bond inherent, in accordance with the divine creation, in the realities of things. Love is the one means that ensureth true felicity both in this world and the next. Love is the light that guideth in darkness, the living link that uniteth God with man, that assureth the progress of every illumined soul. Love is the most great law that ruleth this mighty and heavenly cycle, the unique power that bindeth together the divers elements of this material world, the supreme magnetic force that directeth the movements of the spheres in the celestial realms….”

That quote and one from A Christmas Carol, are two of my faves. The other? “and God bless us everyone!”

The next time I sit at my table, I’m going to check out what I need to make some of my own. Thanks for being such an inspiration.

…gets his wings.   Hi there blog friends!   Today, a change of pace for me.   I have not done a Becca Bit in quite some time so today I have one to share.  You haven’t seen this card, it’s one I made at a club meeting so I pulled it out of my stash so that I could actually have something to set my Angel Pin on to show.  So, why make this a Becca Bit?   There are questions that I get over and over again, which to me means I really do need to supply some more info.  The question that I get all the time is about the stick pins that I use – what are the supplies and where do I get them.  Recently I made a Pretties Kit for a friend of mine and included some of the basic stuff to have on hand to make pearly pins and boy, oh boy, did the questions come flowing in!

A week or two ago metal findings were on sale at Hobby Lobby so I put them on my list  to stock up on and to see if I could find something different.  I found these sweet, sweet angel wings.  I was puzzled what I might do with them until I found some cones and it struck me that I could put them together for an icon to represent an angel.  (Click on the thumbnails to see picture at regular size).

See all the variations you can make using different supplies?

One of the most frequently asked questions is where to get the pins.

These pins are from Joann’s, from the notions section.

The three pins on the right are from Michaels or Hobby Lobby found in the wedding section. Be sure you take a coupon – they are called corsage pins and they are pricey – $5.99 – $7.99. The pin on the left came from Joann’s and is extra long – I love these. Whisper (I don’t know why but they are cheaper, $2.99 – $3.99, and they are sooo long. They can be found in the floral section – not the wedding section).

Here, a Tim Holtz Pin, bent to make a halo and a Making Memories Pin.

Lastly, here are the supplies I used to make the Angel Pins (purchased at Hobby Lobby – on sale at half price, of course). Please note that the bottom of the pin is simply an earring backings. All these things are inexpensively found at your local craft store and will give you supplies to last for a while or make a gift kit for friends :-)

Hope you enjoyed these tidbits.  See you soon!!

They´re all just gorgeous Becca and as usual, you´ve done a wonderful creation again hun. These are some of the very few things, we´ve been able to find here for a very long time, except from the needles, but then we just use, what we can find for them. But I never thought about the idea of the earringpins to make a stopper to it, that´s a really great idea I think, thanks sooo much for that hun.
Have a wonderful week ahead now and take good care.ReplyCancel

  • Jean HempelFebruary 13, 2011 - 2:29 pm

Thank you Becca.. I have been making them just hiding the bottom of the pins, but I have tons of ear backings and they are fairly cheap at HL or Michaels so I shall be getting them… I do love making them and have so many lovely colored beads and seads to make them and loads of pins both with and without tops… of course the ones without tops must have a flat top so the beads don’t come off… love your little birds… too cute…

Love your pins, Becca. I have been trying to use crimp beads at the bottom of my “stack” of beads to keep them in place, but it doesn’t always hold them. I don’t see a crimp bead on yours. Do you use glue and if so, what kind?

    Thanks!ReplyCancel

Amazing! I wish I could look at things and see the possibilities in them as you do. For years I have been sending people angel pins when they are ill, need encouragement, etc. I never thought to put them ON the cards I send with them. Always thought stick pins were dangerous but now that I know I can use an earring backing….
Gosh I love coming here! Always inspired and I learn something new nearly every day. Thanks so much for sharing.
It’s back to cleaning the craft room for me. Fingers crossed I’ll find some of those things I put in a place I knew I’d never forget.

Oh, lovely, Becca! The angel wings on the stick pins are so pretty. Great idea! I just made 8 very girly Valentine cards for my girlfriends embellished with stick pins (crystal beds and pearls). They turned out very pretty (thanks to all the inspiration from your blog.) Do you use earring backs on the ends of your stick pins – if so, couldn’t the pin poke through? Thank you for this very very lovely Becca Bit!ReplyCancel

  • Nancy HandleyFebruary 13, 2011 - 6:18 pm

Once again Becca – you never fail to inspire! To Debby Walters, pins can be sent through the mail – just stick an eraser in the end, but add a note that the eraser is a ‘gift’ and to remove it to enjoy the card. I usually tie the note to the pin with a ribbon.ReplyCancel

I love the pin! Thanks for the info on what types of things you pick up and where you get them from. I have found that I can get tunnel vision sometimes in the craft store depending on what I know I need and how much time I have (or don’t have) to shop that day. I actually can spend hours in a craft store (or book store) and do browse other areas of the store at times. Having you point out where to look helps as sometimes you are not sure where to start or when you see something new or different what it might be used for. It helps to get a fresh perspective on things. Re the blogaversary- I am grateful for people like you who are so willing to share your creativity and expertise with others. Hi Becca, The card is very well done. I like the saying very much; I like the pin idea very much too and I thank you for sharing their where-a-bouts. Even the ducks are very cute and Easter is coming upon us. When I read the card I smiled. I have the wind chimes and I consider them bells of another sort, lol, and the wind angels play them all the time to let me know more angels have gotten their wings. I also have a captain’s ship bell as my door bell and I think I am about the only one who rings it; very loud. Maybe the angels play it very softly. It sits on the right frame of the door. Thank you for sharing. Take care.ReplyCancel

More trinkets for the Blogaversary box!!    So, these are little things but I’m hoping it’s the type of little thing you don’t normally splurge and get for yourself.  If you are just joining the blogaversary conversation, you’ll want to start out HERE to find out about what I’m celebrating and to leave a comment.  This is an add-on that will go into the Blogaversary Box.  If the winner has left a comment on the same day this add-on appears, the item goes into their box!  Never a dull moment around here :-)

I’ll be back a little bit later with a project.  Hope you’re having a fab weekend!!

You spoil us, Becca!!! Another thing that I am thankful for is the school district we live in. I have a child with some special needs and they have always worked with us to meet his needs appropriately. Also they are very supportive of different aspects of student life (music, sports, art, automotive, culinary, cosmetology, etc). We just finished the spring musical “Phantom of the Opera”. It is the first time the play has been available for high schools and colleges. Our teenagers did an awesome job- everyone is talking about how well they did. This would not have been possible without the leadership of some wonderful people. We are truly blessed to have such people work with our children.ReplyCancel

Your generosity astounds me. Hope the month of February has been good to you. It’s lifes little pleasures that add up in the grand scheme of things. They say we need it so I guess that’s good. At least we wont have to water.
