Do you know about 31 Days? Don’t forget it’s my Blogaversary – register HERE.

Happy Weekend Blog Friends!!  Wow, I had a burst of energy last night so I did some cleaning and then I sat down to do a little bit of creating so I do have a card to share today.  I’m using one of the pretty new sets from JustRite Stampers called JustRite You’re So Sweet.  I’m  just so in love with the Spellbinders Nested Pendants, they make for the perfect backdrop for circles and oval medallions!!.   On my sentiment panel I stamped the center from the JustRite You’re So Sweet set framing it with a border from the JustRite Greatest Joy Borders and Centers Set and behind it layered on Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three. Lastly, I flanked my medallion with this sweet curly frame from JustRite Variety Borders.

The vine and flowers were colored with Copic Markers and everything topped off with a bow. I’m always amazed at how easy it is to switch between different sets and shapes with JustRite Stamps.  By the way, have you been over to the website lately?  Well, I’m not throwing out any hints or anything but if you just happened to go over and take a PEEK here or a PEEK here, I’ll bet you can see some of the wonderful new (and elegant) upcoming sets.  I didn’t tell you that though – just sayin’!

SUPPLIES I USED

Stamps: JustRite Stampers – JustRite Variety Borders, JustRite Greatest Joy Borders and Centers Set, JustRite You’re s\So Sweet
Paper: Coredinations, K & Company
Ink: Studio G, Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories:
Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three, Spellbinders Nested Pennants, Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG, Spellbinders Standard Circles SM, Pearls, Ribbon, Copic Markers YG67, R89, R85

Thank you so much for PEEKing in to see what I’m working on, it’s already a fabulous day!!

    Becca,
I just love all the unusual ways that you have used these pennant dies. At first I truly didn’t think I would ever use these and didn’t add them to my wish list. lt didn’t take long for them to grow on me too. They really do have lots of possibilities. Just can’t wait to get my shipment and be able to play with all of them. I love the richness of K & Co. papers. Not sure how, but I totally missed this one. It is beautiful. I will have to see if I can find some of this.

And the celebration goes on!!  Here’s another trinket that’s bound for the Blogaversary Box!   The comments are amazing!  Everyone is sharing specific things that they are grateful for – if you have a minute, grab a cup of coffee and spend a couple of seconds learning about your fellow readers – click HERE to get started.  Thanks again for helping me celebrate!

I’ve taken a couple of hours to clean a corner of my studio – I guess the optimal word here is corner.  It’s just too overwhelming to tackle the whole thing so bit by bit I’ll get there.  I’ve made a couple of sweet discoveries.  I love that!  You know, things I tucked away in a special place so I’d be able to find them?  Well, you know how that goes!

I hope you’re embarking on a wonderful weekend.  Happy crafting!

Ohhh, you’re making it sooo intriguing!!! These are G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!!! Just had to re-arrange a bunch of crafty stuff to make room in the guest room closet and know what you mean (for sure) about finding things I’d “tucked away” for safe keeping — LOL! They were “SAFE” all right, as I could never find them! Hee!!!ReplyCancel

  • lizFebruary 12, 2011 - 12:11 am

Becca we seem to have the same thing in common we don’t sleep I find I do my best creative work at night I don’t know why but for some reason the music and everything just seems to flow better at night. or maybe I do it at night cause for me I don’t like to sleep I would love to sleep but my body doesn’t so I just lay there so it seems like making cards are a better thing then just laying in the dark watching the clock tick tick away . Maybe I’ll try the cleaning tonight I’ve been looking at all my craft stuff out and it just seems like its to much to do and it really isn’t that bad it was just from a one time sitting that I was to tired to do afterwards oh how many of us do that spend the day making our cards then think we’ll clean in it up in a few after a cup of coffee or something and then you know the rest.ReplyCancel

One day I will get to cleaning a corner of my craft room. I dread it!!! LOL Back in April or May, I bought a pair of 14 kt gold hoop earrings. They were on sale for like $200.00. I remember taking them upstairs with an armload of craft purchases. I haven’t seen those earrings since. I don’t knoe if they got dumped in the craft room, put in my closet or where. For all I know, I thew them in the trash. LOL I have been looking for them since summer. I keep thinking I will come across them and I have looked in a couple places when it hits me I could have put them there. No Can Find!!! I need a vision!!!ReplyCancel

  • Barbara WilsonFebruary 12, 2011 - 12:22 am

Beautiful addition to the blogaversary. I also put things where I know I will find them. NOT why is it that if you think this is the place I will be sure to find it you never can. In fact I can lay something down and then look down for it and it has disappeared. I don’t like wearing glasses, but I am grateful that they help me to see.ReplyCancel

BECCA BECCA DON’T EVEN MENTION THIS TO MY HUSBAND. I AM ALWAYS LOSING EVERYTHING. I CAN HAVE IT IN MY HANDS, PUT IT
DOWN AND ITS LOST. I HAVE GLASSES FOR EACH ROOM BUT CAN NEVER FIND A PAIR. THE SAME WITH CRAFT ITEMS. MY GLUE WAS LOST FOR TWO DAYS BUT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME BUT UNDER A COUPLE OF SHEETS OF CARDSTOCK. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF CLEANING THE CRAFT ROOM (FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS OR MORE) AND EVERYTHING IS LOST WHEN I NEED IT. DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH LONGER IT WILL TAKE BUT I AM GOING TO FINISH. THEN I WILL HAVE TO CLEAN THE STORAGE SHED MY HUSBAND BUILT FOR ME TO STORE CRAFT ITEMS. ITS 16 FT LONG, 6 FT WIDE AND 10 FT HIGH AND 6 SHELVES IN IT. I REALLY HAVE FUN LOOKING FOR ITEMS.
SURE GLAD TO HEAR OTHERS DO THE SAME THING.

Beautiful flowers, and you are so generous.

I have some wonderful towel racks that I got from Ikea that are perfect for the smaller, old style Stampin’ Up punches. I hung them on the wall in front of my craft table; they are right at my fingertips.

I was very organized at one point, and then my son moved back from college and into my craft room when all of his “junk”. I can hardly even walk in my craft room anymore. Someday I’ll be organized again (and hopefully it won’t be once my son moves out again).ReplyCancel

In a couple of weeks when all of the paperwork is complete and the security check comes back, I have the privilege of volunteering in a Care Facility in the city right near where I live. I will be going in every week and sharing my love of stamping and papercrafting with the residents who reside there. It is a win win situation. I am on home oxygen 24/7 so it gets me out for an outing, and I get to share my craft with people who wouldn’t get a chance to learn it otherwise. I am most thankful to be able to do this. Thank you God!!!!! LOL KathleenReplyCancel

  • Marlene IacuzziFebruary 12, 2011 - 8:10 am

Well, I don’t think this is the page that I am suppose to comment to be eligible for those lovely gifts, but I can’t get to the original comment space, so I will just give it a go anyway and say that I am thankful for a husband that helps me cope with a winter that has dumped over 150 inches of snow, and is still adding to it as I write. Sometimes I am afraid to get out on those roads, and he is my driver. He keeps the necessary areas outside free of snow, and never complains that his life has been turned upside down by the responsibilities we now have of caretaking. Like so many others, an elderly, ill parent is now with us.ReplyCancel

I can only imagine what’s in your crafty corners!! I have the same problem in finding things…I buy so many supplies and never manage to put them where they belong! The upside is when I move stuff around looking for something non-crafty, I’ll find a bag that has goodies! Like shopping at home or a bonus birthday present!
Thanks so much for your generosity!!

What a great item to add! As a new card maker/stamper I just oogle all the items I see on your site and the nearby store. I certainly look at everything in a whole different manner, so many options to use them. I am eager to build my stash of supplies and things that used to be important to spend my money on somehow have become unimportant. It’s all about card supplies and accessories. Good thing I have a wonderful husband who doesn’t say a word!! Thanks for such a great site and providing such inspiration! Love ya, Becca!ReplyCancel

  • Lu MadruFebruary 12, 2011 - 8:53 am

Oh, I “clean” my craft room all the way down to the table tops then, I sit down to make cards and it looks just like it did before. I know there are people that have a place for everything. I have spent so much time and money or being organized with my label maker and all these organizing goodies I organize away, but I can’t find a thing! I was just born this way and I have really tried for years. I have a friend that is an organizing guru. She has shown me her craft room and she knows where everything is. I’ll email her and say ” you will be so proud of me, I organized my ribbon…”
I sure am glad you are cleaning yours Becca!ReplyCancel

After reading some of the comments in this post I feel soooooo much better. I am not alone…I see others with the same problems with losing things. messy craftroom etc. I think the hardest part of making anything for me is the time wasted looking for what I want. I lose it all!!
I am trying hard now to find everything that I need to make a certain card etc. BEFORE I start my project…otherwise I get so very frustrated. I don’t want to lose the pleasure and enjoyment that I get from making cards.
I too have cleaned my craft room up just right, only to have disaster after one project.
On to the roses…I have looked everywhere for some roses like those ones and can’t find them! Thanks to you Becca for a new inspiration daily!ReplyCancel

Cleaning stamping areas — definitely a lesson never learned by me. I used to stamp on a desk in my computer room, but it eventually got so covered with things that I moved to the kitchen table. It is now stacked so high with things that I only had a cleaned square of about 6 x 6 to use, so I moved to the dining room table. That is surely as before covered with things, which hastily get shoved away if somebody is coming for dinner. Thankfully I live in FL and have an enclosed lanai, with a table, on which I eat and promise myself I will not use to stamp unless I clean up after each use — and that will never happen!!!! But I am thankful that I have enough “treasures” to cover these tabletops and attempt to add beautiful things to share with my friends and family.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,

I am a person who loves to organize sometimes as much as I love to stamp and create. Go Figure. I make myself clean up after each piece of work and it has really helped me to stay on top of things. It’s like a clean slate, ya know?
I hope that you enjoy your time this weekend. Put on some of your favorite music, light a candle and just have fun.

Maybe we need a topic – “I Would Be Grateful For” One thing for sure, help in getting my room organized so I actually could craft in there! Just think of all the treasures your could find! I probably have some fun little roses like that around here someplace but who could fine them? Or, just send them to me and I would reimburse you the postage! Doesn’t take a lot of blog candy to make me happy! Bonus, I know where my envelopes are – now postage stamps – that is another thing! Thanks for all the fun and inspiration.ReplyCancel

Wow, Mulberry Paper Roses…. I’ve never seen them before. I guess I am far behind the times but they look so pretty that you wouldn’t even want to touch them.
But….I can see them with the container lid off and a Spellbinders decorated label to cover the label on the tin or deco cover the whole tin and add some room color on the tips of the roses, a tiny bit of greenery and one of Becca’s pretty bows then finish it off by adding a soothing fragrance in the container. Actually and in all reality Becca could create something fantastic with it since she is so creative. I’m sure she can handle it! Right Becca!!ReplyCancel

Do you know about 31 Days? Don’t forget it’s my Blogaversary – register HERE.

Hi there blog friends!!  I’m back today with the project I was working on yesterday.  I had this in my mind from a card that I worked on last week and finally got it out.  It’s a little bit different, but you’ve never heard that before here, right?  It’s a ruffled background and it reminds me of a decadent pillow or drapery treatment.  The card is thick so I would need to go with the envelope/box type of envelope.   I used Our Daily Bread Designs stamps for the card, using the He Shall Be Called Background and the Wood Fish.

Here is a closer in picture of the background.  I stamped the He Shall Be Called Background across my strip before I scored it at every quarter inch then folded it.  It’s anchored by a layer of sheet adhesive I had in my stash then centered behind a cutout of Spellbinders Labels Eighteen.  For the medallion in the center I used Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two backed by an element from Spellbinders Parisian Accents and topped with Spellbinders Petite Ovals LG.  I isolated the word faith from the inside of the fish and stamped in by using a Versamark Marker and embossing with embossing powder.  To me the lovely K & Company paper is so beautiful – I selected one where I could cut a big hole out of the center yet still have some of the decorative elements.  This was truly fun!!

HOW IT’S MADE

1. Make Card Base – mine is 7½”x5½”
2. Layer a mat . Adhere.
3. Cut a mat and layer with design paper smaller than card base.

4. Center then cut emboss Labels Eighteen from design paper
4. Sandwich a round accordian folded element in between the two layers.  Adhere with foam tape.
5. Top with a medallion created using Parisian Accents, Fancy Tags Two,  Stamped Petite Ovals LG.
6. Thread ribbon through Fancy Tags Two and tie bow,  Adhere medallion on top.
7. Add pearls and buttons.

SUPPLIES I USED

Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – He Shall Be Called, Wood Fish
Paper: Bazzill, K & Company – Julianne
Ink: Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Versamark Pen
AccessoriesSpellbinders Labels Eighteen, Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two, Spellbinders Parisian Accents, Spellbinders Petite Ovals LG, Embossing Powder, Ribbon, Pearls, buttons

I’ll be back soon, in the meantime I hope you have a glorious day!

  • ColoradoFebruary 11, 2011 - 11:35 am

I’m confused… in the second step 4 of “HOW IT’S MADE”, you describe the accordion folded element as being round, but the one on your card has little points that stick out in two places on the top and two on the bottom. So, I’m curious how you cut the strip to achieve that look. If it was just a round element it would be like the fan fold flowers that are made with accordion folded straight strips. But yours looks like an accordion pleated “label” shape for lack of a better description. The shape of it reminds me of something like a Spellbinders Label Die shape! Very cool!!!! And of course… it’s a gorgeous card!!!!!ReplyCancel

  • Marcie SmithFebruary 11, 2011 - 12:02 pm

    Becca,
Wow this is such a great look. Such a fancy and elegant design. Would love to see the inside of this card. Did you have to box fold the top of the card base to allow for the thickness of the rossette? Very pretty results and naturally you topped off with one of your gorgeous bows. You definitely had to dig deep to find some of the Julianne Papers. I have tons of the old lines of K & Co. papers that came out that year. They were so beautiful and I never tire of them.

  • Margaret ThompsonFebruary 11, 2011 - 2:36 pm

When I saw the name of your project today I thought ribbon. Wow was I surprised but Becca, how could any one give away such a beautiful card? If only I could make one like you did I’d frame it in a deep glass frame (not to squash it) and hang it on the wall in my entry way where I would see it every time I came in or left the house. It would mean so much to me now, especially while I am trying so hard to keep the faith in doctors who seem to ALWAYS disappoint me.
What an exceptionally beautiful job. There is no way you could go back to the simple cards any more, they would be boring!!! LOLReplyCancel
