Did you see the blog hop from Our Daily Bread Designs yesterday?  There’s still one day left to do the hop and leave comments so that you can win some of the fabulous new stamps sets (click here to get started))!! I’m just so taken with the die cut butterfly – the same one that I used on my card from yesterday; it has soooo many possibilities.  Today I’m pairing it up with the Large Butterfly Background and a sentiment from the Faith set.

This is a clean and simple look for me.  I love what the background accomplishes – I kept things tidy by staying with two colors (except my butterfly) and not having any other design paper.  The butterfly is made from white iridescent paper that I spritzed with a light blue reinker and water.  The fine mist doesn’t totally cover the paper and gives it a great texture.  After that I embossed with white over top of the color I just spritzed.  I was surprised but I didn’t have any challenges with the embossing powder even though my paper was partially damp.

HOW IT’S MADE

1. Make Card Base – mine is 5.5″ x 7″
2. Stamp and emboss Large Butterfly Background and trim.  Cut a mat slightly larger. Adhere.
3. Embellish background with pearls, tie ribbon.   Adhere panel to card base using form tape.
4. Stamp sentiment then cut/emboss using Spellbinders Fancy Tags,
5. Mat layer with another Spellbinders Fancy Tags cut from white.  Adhere with foam tape.
6. Cut two circles using Spellbinders Classic Circles LG and Classic Circles SM, adhere with foam tape.
7. Stamp, emboss then die cut two butterflies.  Staple together then adhere to circle using glue dot.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Faith, Large Butterfly Background, Butterfly Single
Paper: The Paper Company – Kraft, Paper Studio – Pearl White
Ink: Colobox White Pigment Ink and White Embossing Powder
Accessories: ODBD Butterfly Die Cut, Spellbinders Classic Circles LG, Spellbinders Classic Circles SM, Spellbinders Fancy Tags, ribbon, pearls

There will be more butterflies this month, lol!!  Thanks for stopping by, have a blessed day sweet friends!

Happy, Happy New Year!!  Welcome to Our Daily Bread Designs January Release Blog Hop!  If you made your way here from Debi Southard, you are in the right place!  If not, you might want to go to the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog and start from there so you don’t miss anyone!  There will be five fabulous prizes this month: if you are one of the lucky winners, you’ll get to pick an ODBD stamp set of your choice.  The prizes are hidden on various blogs along the hop, so it is important that you visit and comment on each one.

The Hop will run January 1st at 8am Eastern and will end at 8pm Eastern January 2nd. The winners will be randomly selected from the commenters that complete the hop and answer the question on the ODBD Blog.  Winners will be announced on the ODBD Blog on January 3rd.

So here’s what you need to do to be in the running:

1. Leave a comment for each of the designers in the hop.  Just in case you get stuck, remember the entire list is posted on the ODBD Blog.
2. Leave a comment on the ODBD Blog that you completed the blog hop (make a note if there’s someone’s blog that wouldn’t take a comment).   Be sure to answer the Blog Hop question you find there :-)
3. Cross your lucky fingers and toes and hope that one of the bloggers who have the hidden prizes pick you!!  Be sure to check the ODBD Blog on January 3rd to see if you won!!

Well today is a little departure for me, wouldn’t you say?  I adore the little butterfly die cut and wanted to use it as much as possible lol!!  I cut 18 of them and I don’t think it took any longer than about 15 minutes.  Once you get the hang of placement – it’s easy as pie!!   At any rate, this is an accordian card.  I can’t take credit for it, I’ve seen it in a book somewhere but can’t find it for the life of me.  The card is really more of a show piece – it’s meant to stand up.  To me it perfectly illuminated the verse I used from the new set called Faith.

The new Butterfly die has a matching stamp of course!

Here’s what the card looks like closed down.  Part of the structure tucks inside, but it does need a large envelope.  I know, this was a little bit out of the box for me but it was a joy to make!!

SUPPLIES I USED:

Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Faith: Full of Grace Collection
Paper:  From my stash
Ink : Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder
Accessories : Our Daily Bread Designs – Butterfly die cut, Spellbinders Labels Eleven, Spellbinders Labels Fourteen, Ribbon

So now it’s my pleasure to direct you to the next stop along the way, with some eye candy from Lorelie Kim.  Best of luck you you as you make your way along the hop, I hope you win!

Squeezing in one more post before the new year, this is my last blog post for 2010!!  Since these new goodies graced my mailbox yesterday, I decided to polish off my year with some fabulous new offerings from JustRite Stampers.  Justrite is introducing a new set that falls smack dab in the middle of my tools I always use list.   They designed a Happy Everything  Tag Making Kit that includes your most used sentiments plus the perfect die to cut them out.  Whoopie, no more searching for a small sentiment to fit on the card – just stamp, cut and any occasion is at my fingertips.  So I put this baby to the test today.  I’m using the roses from the new Greatest Joy Borders and Centers Set and having a little bit of room at the bottom, I put my Happy New Year sentiment on the layered tag.

Here’s the Happy Everything Set so that you can see what it looks like:

HOW IT’S MADE:

1.  Make Card Base – mine is 5″ x 7″
2.  Cut a scant mat and design paper smaller than previous layer, adhere using foam tape.

3.  Using border punch, cut border, line with mat and design paper, adhere using foam tape.
4.  Embellish with pearls and tie ribbon
5.
Stamp border, then cut/emboss using Classic Ovals LG #4, adhere using foam tape.
6.
Cut/emboss Classic Scalloped Ovals #3, adhere using foam tape.
7.  Stamp, and color, then cut/emboss using Classic Ovals LG #4, adhere.
8.  Using JustRite Happy Everything – cut/emboss one of largest notched tags.
9.  Using JustRite Happy Everything – cut/emboss one of smallest notched tags from accent color.
10.Stamp sentiment, then cut/emboss using JustRite Happy Everything Tag – largest tag rectangle.
11.Layer then adhere tag using foam tape.

SUPPLIES I USED:

Stamps: JustRite Happy Everything Tag Making Kit, The Greatest Joy Borders and Centers
Paper : Bazzill, K & , Watercolor Paper
Ink : Stazon Jet Black, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories : JustRite Happy Everything Tag, Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals LG #3 and #4, Spellbinders™ Classic Scalloped Ovals LG #3,  Ribbon, pearls, Martha Stewart Double Arches Border Punch.

Thanks again for a great blogging year!!  You’ll definitely want to stop by tomorrow morning as Our Daily Bread Designs kicks off new designs and accessories as well as a chance to win them!

  • JerilynnDecember 31, 2010 - 1:11 pm

QUESTION: Are you saying that the lacey layer under the ovals is a punch and NOT a Spellbinders die? I’m assuming that would be a Martha Stewart Punch as I do not recognize it as a Spellbinders die.

I don’t have real good luck using the corners and the edgers together to get this look. I can make a corner and I can do and edge but somehow I can not get them to hook up like yours. Is there a trick to this?ReplyCancel

This card is another beautiful gift from you! Thank you.

However, having said that, I have to admit that I was very surprised to find that the Martha Steward Double Arches Boarder Punch was listed at a cost of $75.00! Far out of my price range. Please remember that those of us who enjoy your web site and the joy of making our own cards may be doing it on a limited budget!

    Thanks for the beautful ideas………ReplyCancel

I wish you good health and a bundle of happiness for this coming year!

QUESTION: I am back from my trip to Michaels. I was able to get the double pack with the punches you used on this card. I am going to play with them and TRY to get a rectangle where the edge and the corner punches will line up. I’m using the paper instruction sheet that is packaged with the punches which I’ve used before and I have not been successful with before. Any chance you can do a tutorial on how to get this process to work or do you know where there is a tutorial already available that can walk us through the process step-by-step? I sure hope you answer this to everyone. I’ve read the above comments and there are others who seem to need this direction also…..so I know I’m not alone.

THANKS BECCA! Your card is gorgeous.ReplyCancel

  • Merrily SchulzJanuary 2, 2011 - 7:35 pm

Love this card, had to go to Micheals and get that punch, not bad when 50% off so it worked okay. Love what you did. I think that I will get alot of use out of the punch. Thanks, just another way to spend money!Love your stuff!!!ReplyCancel

  • Merrily SchulzJanuary 2, 2011 - 7:41 pm

okay, I had to make a coment on what Jerilynn said too. I agree. I have been working on this punch and it is hard to line up. How many trys did it take for you? I don’t want to ruin a bunch of paper. Thanks. I love it,but it is hard to line up. You have to be excact.ReplyCancel

  • JerilynnJanuary 2, 2011 - 9:25 pm

AAAAAAAA……Merrily, are you getting it to line up yet? I have one that ALMOST makes it. I can use it if I put a flower on the one corner and it’s not bad, but I just am not able to get this guy to line up. What am I doing wrong? (that was in a whiny voice) Oh I am using just cheapo very lite-weight cardstock. I don’t want to waste good paper while practicing. It is lighter than good cardstock but just a tad bit heavier than text weight paper you would use in the printer. Does that make sense?ReplyCancel
