. . . to 2010!!  Can you believe that another year has come and gone?  If you’ve been with me a while, this time last year I was in San Antonio with John in the hospital hoping to get home.  We missed Christmas with our family and our kids held down the fort while we were gone.    The months have flown by as if I were holding my breath.  Well, at least at the end of the year you can look back over the memories.  Last year I pulled together all my favorite cards from the year for a quick tour, I’d like to do that again.  So back down memory lane for 2010. . .

I hope you were able to click through to see some of my favorites for the year.  Thank you so much for helping me through it.  I pray you are a part of my coming year.

Dear Becca, what a year you’ve had and you’ve been so strong throughout. When you picked your title for your blog it couldn’t have been more fitting…..you have an amazing talent and I think you are and amazing lady too! I admire you so much with what you have been through. I have a 40 yr old Special Needs daughter and sometimes feel quite ashamed the way I have my little moans about her and yet you never once complained about looking after your dear John. Your love for him and your family always shone through. God Bless you Becca and many thanks for another year of wonderful cards. I wish you and your family a peaceful and happy New Year and will definitely be here and enjoy seeing what you bring us with your talent in 2011.

    Love Sheila xxReplyCancel

You have no idea how much your walk has affected so many. All the years I have know you you have cared for John and your 3 wonderful children and never (I mean NEVER) have I heard you complain about it being hard or your frustration or anything negative. You are always upbeat with positive words to share. I thank God for you being that person I can look up to and imulate (sp). You are truly a blessing Beck.

In the Moonlight - JustRite Cling
Hi there sweet friends.  Thank you for persisting and getting through my little comment glitch.  I would ask that you continue to try and let me know how it’s going.  It’s being worked on and will hopefully be alleviated but we won’t know until you report back that you’re not having any problems.  Okay, so on to my card for today.  I’m going straight for the spring look, right?!?  Actually I colored up this sweet stamp earlier in the month but had it lined up waiting to finish showing Christmas.  This is another of the JustRite Stampers new releases in red rubber – cling!  Called In the Moonlight, it might look involved, but I assure you it was easy!  The packaging for the Cling Stamps has a colored sample that you can easily follow if you’re shy about your coloring skills.

In the Moonlight2 - JustRite Cling

Since it’s sooooo cold outside, there’s no better time than the present to get stocked up on images to put on cards, right?!?  By the way, there’s still a couple of days to get in on the sales going on at JustRite – stamp storage cases are 50% off (I loaded up on these).  Also Nested Sentiments are 20% off and there are still many clearance items left at up to 60% off.  Check it out HERE

HOW IT’S MADE:

1. Make Card Base from white – mine is 6″ x 6″
2. Cut 6″ x 6″ panel and a slightly smaller panel as first layer.
3. Add another layer and mat smaller than previous.
4. Cut four Spellbinders Lace Border Grand, miter and adhere with foam tape.
5. Add a strip of accent color around edge of frame, tie ribbon through frame, add pearls.
6. Color main image and cut out with Spellbinders Standard Circles SM
7. Mat main image on Spellbinders Big Scalloped Circles LG, adhere with foam tape.
8. Stamp sentiment, cut out with Spellbinders Labels Fourteen.

SUPPLIES I USED:

Stamps: JustRite Stampers – In the Moonlight – JustRite Cling
Paper:  Pink Paislee – 360° Degrees, Langton Prestige Watercolor Paper
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, Distress Inks
Accessories: Spellbinders Lace Border Grand, Spellbinders Standard Circles SM, Spellbinders Big Scalloped Circles LG, Spellbinders Labels Fourteen, Pearls, Ribbon

Bundle up and keep warm!!  Thanks for stopping by, I truly appreciate it!!

Hi there friends!  I ‘m not tired of Christmas cards but realize that the showing of the Christmas cards begins in July.  So imagine the freedom when I go to my studio and don’t feel obligated to shuffle through reds and greens although there are certainly other color schemes. Actually, I’m not telling the truth here, I could make Christmas cards all year round, lol!!   Today I’m sharing a card with you using the December release from Our Daily Bread Designs.  The set is called Blessings from the Full of Grace Collection – goodness I love the font!!

I selected one of my favorite sets of papers from K and Company and did something I rarely do – border in black.  I don’t know why I never do that because I think it really looks striking.   I leaned heavily on Spellbinders Labels Sixteen for a motif to add some framing to my focal panel and added Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Borderabilities Petite to soften things up a bit.  My sentiment, stamped and embossed in black, is perched on Spellbinders Labels Eleven   I finished the design with a double bow.

HOW IT’S MADE:

1. Make card base in black – mine is 5″ x 7″
2. Cut a scant mat and design paper slightly smaller than card, adhere using foam tape.

3. Cut a scant mat and design paper smaller than previous layer for focal panel.
4. Cut scallops with Classic Scalloped Borderabilities and adhere to bottom of focal panel
5.
Cut/emboss Spellbinders Labels Sixteen – cut in half, adhere to top and bottom of focal panel.
6.
Stamp and emboss sentiment, cut out with Labels Eleven, affix to card with foam tape.
7. Embellish with pearls and tie ribbon.
8. Adhere focal panel to base using foam tape.

SUPPLIES I USED:

Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Blessings – Full of Grace Collection
Paper : Bazzill, K&Company
Ink : Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories : Spellbinders™ Labels Sixteen, Spellbinders™ Classic Scalloped Borderabilities Petite, Spellbinders™ Labels Eleven, Ribbon, Black half pearls.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  New Our Daily Bread Design releases are on the way!

Oh this is gorgeous !! You have no idea how much I learn from you ! I never bought bold all over patterns because I didn’t want to make a bold “jump out at you” card. Now I see that using just a small piece of bold pattern paper with black frames and a subtle background it is simply beautiful. I also appreciate the time you take to provide the list of supplies and directions. TFS I am learning from a Master :)ReplyCancel

Black is very striking! This card looks so elegant and sophisticated if that is a word you can use describing a card. Just beautiful!! Haven’t been able to check in as often as down in my back but had to come to the pc to see what you are up to!! Have a blessed and Happy New Year.ReplyCancel

  • JessicaDecember 28, 2010 - 12:31 pm

Hey Becca, this is a lovely card! I agree about the black making a card pop! But I rarely use it either… I do use a lot of dark brown, or navy though. I think that’s because I have a boat load of brown card stock that my sweetie brought home for me. It was old stuff and they were going to chuck it. So he saved it’s life, and I have been using it for about 2 years! I guess it’s all about what I have the most of!
    Happy New Year
    Hugs, JessReplyCancel

B-U-T-FUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLL card – as usual. I was surprised at the color of the ribbon/bow. Now I have to start re-thinking colors of embellishments – I usually take/use a color that is on the rest of the card. Need to start thinking “outside of the box”.

I do like the changes you made on your blog – more peaceful to the eyes.
Thanks for sharing your God Given talent.

  • MarvelDecember 28, 2010 - 5:50 pm

    I love the idea that you’re also giving detailed instructions on your cards, especially the base size of the card. It makes it so much easier to “copy” it, especially when one doesn’t necessarily have the same stamp or punch that you used. At least there are dimensions on which to base the card, if that makes sense!!! :}

I do hope you’re doing well these days. The Lord knows your sorrow, and He will never let you suffer anything that you can’t handle without His loving arms enfolding you!! Safe in the arms of Jesus!! What more could anyone ask for??ReplyCancel
