My goodness I love a great sketch challenge – all the thinking is done for you – all you have to do is come up with the papers.  I know – easier said than done, right?  This month the JustRite Sketch Challenge #042 is sponsored by Inchie Arts.  I’ve never worked with this product but it was like Christmas getting an assortment of backgrounds to use and I think I’m hooked.

Inchie Arts offers three different sizes of the highest quality artist grade matteboard squares: 1” (Inchie), 1-1/2” (Inchie +) and 2” (Twinchie).  All of their products are fade resistant, acid free, lignin free and solid core color through and through.  The material is designed to receive whatever art medium (wet or dry) you use in your coloring and embellishments – from stamping to watercolors, chalks, inks, pens, markers, stains and more.  They are available in black, dark gray, light gray, wheat, dark cream, ivory and white; as individual packages or assortment packs.

For my card I used a cream Twinchie (I almost giggle every time I say that word) and stamped a sentiment from JustRite Stampers Original Something Sweet set using Memento Tuxedo Black.  I smudged Memento Angel Pink ink around the edges of the twinchie to frame it and backed it with a dark cream twinchie.  That layer sits on top of a layer of cream lace and a layer of pink and white gingham ribbon – ruched – just to be different.  From the same pink gingham I twirled a flat flower.  I so often fall into the green and red trap when doing Christmas cards so it was a breath of fresh air to pick some not so traditional colors this time.

Be sure to pop over to the JustRite Inspiration Blog for details and  to study the sketch.  I hope you’ll join us – go ahead, whip up a design and hopefully win a prize!!

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  JustRite Sweet Something
Paper:  DCVW, Bazzill
Ink:  Memento Black Tuxedo, Memento Angel Pink
Accessories:  Twinchie – ivory, Twinchie – dark cream, ribbon, Ranger Glossy Accents, Pearl, Lace

Thanks so much for stopping by, see you soon!

Greetings!!  Welcome to JustRite Stampers’ newest Wednesday feature, 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hops – Week 8!  Every Wednesday up until Thanksgiving some of your favorite designers will be joining some of the JustRite design team for a series of Christmas blog hops, showcasing JustRite’s entire Christmas Collection of stamps!  And don’t forget that JustRite has some Christmas stamps in their newly released CLING line of stamp sets — you can find them HERE.  This week, the designers joining the JustRite design team are the Flower Soft and The Shabby Tea Room challenge blog design teams!  So mark your calendars for Wednesdays at 9am Central for great Christmas gift, card & project ideas, starting at the JustRite Inspiration blog!

I know I’ve been missing in action but this is one the items I’ve worked on sporadically throughout the month during some quiet time.  I wanted to make an Advent gift and I had this bead storage box but it only had 24 containers.  After thinking about it a little bit, I worked it all out.   On the lid I used some garland and sparkly, glittery ribbon and alongside I nestled an elegant sentiment using JustRite Stampers Original Christmas Nested Sentiments, cut with Spellbinders Labels Seventeen.   Each of the clear containers uses a sweet border from the JustRite Stampers Original Holiday Cheer Centers and Borders set using an EK Success 1 1/4" punch to cut the border and Spellbinders Standard Circles LG #2 to cut each red or green mat layer.  They are the perfect size to cover the top and the bottom of the clear round boxes!!

Inside I sprinkled a little bit of snow and for this gift, the recipient is getting a different pair of earrings in each clear container – 24 all together.

As the recipient takes out each container, she will see that there is another surprise at the bottom that she will get to open on the 25th day.  Torture, I know . . .right?!?

There is a large card holding the final surprise that I made using Spellbinders Grand Labels Four.  When you peek inside, there is a gift card.

Project Recipe:
Stamps:  JustRite Original Stampers Holiday Cheer Borders and Centers, JustRite Original Stampers Christmas Nested Sentiments
Paper: Bazzill
Ink:  Colorbox Chalk Ink – Warm Red, CTMH – New England Ivy
Accessories:  Spellbinders Labels Seventeen #4 and #5, Spellbinders Grand Labels Four, Spellbinders Standard Circles Large #2, Ribbon, Bead Storage Box, 1 1/4" EK Success Round Punch, Glue Dots, Garland, Snowflakes, Earrings, Gift Card

Many of you have asked so I thought I would share a small update.  John is resting at home, but we spent several days in the hospital and we returned home Monday night.  It was unexpected and I was stuck without internet and a change of clothes.  With his condition there’s a lot to manage to get him on the right track.   Thankfully, my sweet daughter was to the rescue.  Today is a good day, but I know it’s a long journey back to perfect health.   One foot in front of the other, I’m strong and willing to look forward.  Many of you have written to me sharing similar stories – please know that gives me strength.  Thank you for continuing to visit and lift me up.  I am immensely blessed and  humbled by the kindness of my online friends.  More posts coming while I’m home :-)

Please visit these designers’ blogs to see what fabulous JustRite Christmas inspiration they have for you on the hop today!

what a fabulous project – and a very generous one too. The recipient will be over the moon with that – i know i would be.

I was worried about you with you not posting; each day when i check my emails there was nothing from you so i was worried that all was not well. I really hope that better health comes John’s way and naturally wish you the strength to carry on – its such a worry to have a loved one poorly. Yippee for your daughter eh, bless her.

I will be thinking of you even though we don’t know each other – although each and every post seems to bridge that gap – right from over here in the UK – almost in the middle!

sending you hugs for strength and best wishes for better news and health for John and you.

    Becca,
    This is so beautiful.
You are in my prayers and I pray that John will recover and will become strong. Glad to see you are okay and that your able to use crafting for you as well. It has done a lot for me seeing all of your beautiful creations. I do not have much time to craft but when I do I look at your creations and they give me some of the mojo (if that is what you call it).
A verse for you, not from me but from God.
“Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God, I will help you, I will strengthen you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10. Ponder on this verse and it will help you in the difficult times. It uplifts me each and every time.

    Blessings,

I’ve been on the receiving end, where John is, and I just want to tell you that all you do is appreciated even if at times he might not be able to tell you. Hello there!!  I have a simple project to share that I hope you’ll enjoy.  By the way, welcome to JustRite Stampers’ newest Wednesday feature, 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hops – Week 7!   Every Wednesday up until Thanksgiving some of your favorite designers will be joining some of the JustRite design team for a series of Christmas blog hops, showcasing JustRite’s entire Christmas Collection of stamps!  You also might see some projects from the JustRite design team, using some of our newly released CLING stamps!  You can find our new collection of cling stamps HERE.  This week, the designers joining us are most of the Spellbinders and Caardvarks design teams!  So mark your calendars for Wednesdays at 9am Central for great Christmas gift, card & project ideas, starting at the JustRite Inspiration blog!

For my project simply had to make a pair of felt covered, stamped mitten clips.  Using JustRite Stampers new cling set called Sparky the Snowman – Cling and Spellbinders Nested Mittens, I had the perfect excuse to try a pair and it was far simpler than I thought.  I simply stamped and embossed the mitten then cut it out leaving very little margin.  Then using the medium nested Mitten die, I cut two from felt.  I re-purposed a hair clip that I found in the bathroom – I don’t know what the "real" name is, but it is metal and is similar to a clothespin in that when you press on both sides of the end, on the other end it opens like a mouth.  I cut a small slit at the top of my felt and inserted the hair clip between my two pieces of felt so that in the end I would have paper, clip, felt, felt, clip, paper – the clip is sandwiched between the paper and felt.
I kept my card very simple as it’s intended to hold the clip when giving as a gift.  I centered a sentiment using Spellbinders Petite Ovals Small and Fancy Tags then tied a bow.  The Mitten Clip simply clips on the side of the card.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  JustRite Stampers – Sparky the Snowman – Cling
Paper:  My Minds Eye, Bazzill
Ink:  Versamark with Ivory Embossing Powder, red ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders Fancy Tags, Spellbinders Nested Mittens, Spellbinders Petite Ovals Small, Ribbon, Hair clip, red felt, pearls

Thanks to all for your well wishes, each one brings a breath of hope.  I’m at a loss for words over my hubby’s health it’s nothing less than a roller coaster.  Knowing we have our faith, friends and the love of family helps us put one foot down in front of the other and keep going.   Please continue your prayers if you can, both John and I appreciate it.

Hugs,
Becca

    Dear Becca

I would like to share that I feel each and every one of your cards are so so precious and full of love, masterpieces indeed but recently I feel a little bit overwhelmed with that round piece of crystal stones that you put it on, it somehow feels too much and it created a gap for me of where to put attention and felt a bit confusing. With a truly loving heart, secret pal

PS: I think it has to do with, that your precious art is just so perfectly divine and beautiful all by itself.ReplyCancel
