Hi there, popping in again to share a card.  We’re back to the doctor again tomorrow and hopefully more information – waiting is horrible.  At any rate, I put together a card today sharing a new set from Our Daily Bread Designs called Randi’s Song.  It features both the sentiment I used and the text background I stamped on the half circle.

Simple is the name of the game for me right now.  I again raided my scrap bin – it contains combinations I’ve used before so not much time has to be spent combing through papers.  I used Spellbinders Grand Circles and Grand Squares to construct the card.  The cut out is made with Spellbinders Labels Fourteen.  As an embellishment, I used Fanciful Holiday on the bottom corners.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Randi’s Song
Paper:  Bazzill, K & Co.
Ink:  Versafine – Vintage Sepia, Green dye based ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders Grand Circles, Spellbinders Grand Squares, Spellbinders Fanciful Holiday, Spellbinders Labels Fourteen, Ribbon, Pearls

Thank you friends!

Thanks so much for all your kind comments and the prayer you are sending for my husband.  We’re in an awkward limbo so I don’t really have any news to share, but I can tell you his spirits were lifted to know he was on the minds of so many.  I hope you’ll continue.  In the meantime, I channeled some of my nervous energy into a card to share.  The card is really quite simple so I’ll keep the description brief and as always, the links are here so that you can see what I used.    I’m using a sentiment from the October Our Daily Bread Designs release called Missing You.

This pulled together quickly and decided to work with papers from my scrap bin.  I’m relieved to know that I can actually make a card without touching absolutely every piece of paper I own (smile).  You do what you gotta do, right?

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs  – Missing You
Paper:   Bazzill, K & Co.
Ink:  Colorbox Chalk Ink – Prussian Blue
Accessories:  Spellbinders Labels Twelve, Spellbinders Ribbon Tag Trio Two, Spellbinders Nursery Time Frame, Spellbinders Cross Collection, Martha Stewart French Scroll Border Punch, Martha Stewart French Scroll Corner Punch, Ribbon, Pearls

Thanks for stopping by.  I sincerely mean it when I say that you all bless me.

    Hi
I have the sentiment of your card in a locket around my neck and the other half around my husband’s! I have been hi-jacked and my chain around my neck pulled off during gun point and the locket with those words stayed behind and fell off the chain into my lap. After the hi-jackers left, I found it on my lap. I BELIEVE it was God telling me he was protecting me.
Lots of prayers and hugs to you and your hubby.

This is a stunning card Becca, and love your choice of design paper. I have that K&Co DP and absolutely love it. I love also your use of the diamond nesties and the mat behind it – you really do inspire me and others with how you effortlessly mix the two…

I hope that you soon get the news you are waiting for, but above all, hope that its good news. I know what its like to wait for results and information between consultations – both for myself (this year) and my Dad a couple of years ago – the waiting is the absolute worse bit.

You will be in my thoughts until your mind is at rest and you are out of limbo. May you both have the strength to deal with whatever comes your way.

    Kind regards

Carried away by the motion. Hold on to all that you hold in your heart. There is one thing that has always been true. It holds the world together. God is in Control. We believe that his children will not be forsaken. God is in control. We will choose to remember and never be shaken. There is no power above or beside him. We know, ohh, God is in control. Such a beautiful saying …. thank you so much.ReplyCancel

Hi all, I have several things to share with you.  First of all thanks so much for the sweet Birthday Wishes.  I’m only home long enough to get a post up so I won’t be able to weigh in to thank everyone individually especially all the wonderful folks on Facebook, but I hope you know that today, your well wishes mean more than you can possibly know.  Over the last couple of weeks my husband has not been well and life has been a little unpredictable.  Many of you who have gone back to the beginning of my blog know that what led me to blog was the fact that I was a caregiver, tethered to home.  It was one of the best decisions of my life – it pulled me out of a total despair and gave me a way to celebrate and grow in my faith.  What a blessing!!  It has kept me from being isolated,  I’ve made so many friends and I’ve made my hands busy in the most difficult of times.

All of that to say, we are going through a tough time and I may be quiet – that’s how I deal with stress.  In the middle of the turmoil you will for sure see creations from me and think, hunh?  It may be odd, but, that’s how I deal with stress – the busier I can stay, the better.  I plan to keep on keeping on, but in the interim, I hope that those of you who are waiting for tutorials on the Snowflake and the Christmas planner will understand that I’ve got a lot going on.  I’ll get there, I promise.  In the meantime, if you can spare a prayer for my husband John, we are so in need.

I just so happens, I have something to show that I created early this morning in between appointments.  It’s a favor that’s going to a sweet friend of mine – I’ll be putting a gift card inside.

In my surfing I saw a die template that makes a similar dress, but it wasn’t in my craft budget.  Working with what I have on hand, I pulled out my Spellbinders Grand Ovals die to make the dress and used a Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG for the bodice of the dress.  I took a couple of nips out of the bodice for the neck and arms using an EK Success 1 1/2" round punch.  To finish I hung a small tag on my closure ribbon using Spellbinders Tags Five.  All in all, about an hours worth of work to figure it all out from beginning to end.

Here’s the back side – that sweet little flower hides a velcro closure.

This is the inside.  See how simple that is?  I put a notch on the top side of one strip and the bottom side of the other strip so that when they meet, they interlock and close off the sides of the container.

Project Recipe:
Stamps:  Hero Arts
Paper:  Lasting Impressions
Ink:  Colorbox Chalk Ink – Rouge
Accessories:  Spellbinders Grand Ovals, Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG, Spellbinders Tags Five

Thanks for stopping by today!

Dear Becca, my heart and prayers are with you, John and your family. Take care and know that many of us are earnestly praying for you–lifting both you and John. We all love you. If I had your address I would send you one of my writings that was born out stress and pain. Instead, I will leave it here for you and hope that you have time to read it. Be still and stay steeped in His Word, for He will carry you. Cynthia

    He is the Music

    HE is the Music
    That cradles your heart
    When pain invades
    And tears your spirit asunder.

    HE is the Music
    That soothes your mind
    When troubles visit
    And test your faith.

    Our Lord is the Music
    That continues to play
    When everything ceases
    And your soul finds peace.

I, like many others, am so glad to have found your blog. I look with wonder at your designs and am thankful you so willingly share your gifts. This dress is amazing! How totally cool!!!!
I will keep you in my prayers and I hope you find the strength that I know flows from all of your online friends. Is it not almost impossible to believe that folks you never met can feel so close because of papercrafting? I often think that I “know” someone because I get to a point where I recognize their work, I know what they like or are comfortable doing in their art and yet I only see their web page!! God does work in ever changing ways! Someday I too may make that jump from my craft room to the web!

I have just flipped over the cuteness and beauty of this dress box…which surprises me because I’m not a ‘pink person’ nor particularly feminine and this is definitely both! And it wouldn’t surprise me if your pattern should prove to be much more effective, simpler to make, and the result more beautiful than that which inspired you. The Spellbinders Grands must have been made with you in mind and they must be thrilled with your uses of them. Happy Birthday Becca.
My heart is very sad for you and John and I empathize totally with your situation. I too am a caregiver for my 92 year old father. He was in the hospital in really bad shape on my Birthday in August and he told me he wanted to die. It was a very sad Birthday for me. He came home but hasn’t gotten much better and now again is going through some critical health issues.

I will pray for you, John and your family as you deal with this latest trial. We know that God sustains us in these times and through Him all things are possible according to His plan for us. I truly hope that God pulls John through whatever health problems he is having and that God’s loving arms are wrapped around you bringing you comfort.ReplyCancel

  • RufusOctober 6, 2010 - 10:41 pm

Becca, as with everyone else who’s written, you and John will certainly be in my thoughts. Having a husband and recently a Mom and Dad with health issues, I know how stressful it can be on the caregiver. Just keep in mind as they tell you on airplanes, in event of decompression put on YOUR mask first then help those traveling with you! You can’t help them if you don’t take care of yourself. I know, believe me I know, that this is hard to do. But as I’m sure you’ve learned it’s very good advice! Wishing both of you the very best,

You are truely an amazing woman with a God given talent like no other. I am so sorry that you are going thru such troubled times. You and John are in my prayers. I would also like to extend a belated Birthday wish. We have that in common, as well as being a caregiver. I too just celebrated another year. ugh!!

Your gift card is absolutely adorable, but you already know this.

I felt something was not quite right with you lately, but I also knew when you were ready you would share it with us. Steady the course and I know you will find the strength to get thru all of this. God Bless. We are all pulling for both of you. Hugs.

You and your husband are dealing with very tough times right now, I feel for you both. It is not an easy position for either of you to be in. But it seems like your faith and your “paper therapy” (what I call crafting) is inspirational and helpful in dealing and coping with the stress. You are both in our prayers. I always look at your blog entry first, as you have such amazing talent and beautiful projects to share with us. Thank you for that. Sorry to hear things are not good at the moment Becca, but crafting and blogging certainly got me through a tough year. And to know people are there for you – from places around the world that you may even not have heard of before – thats such a humbling thing – and one that brings us all a step closer together. I hope that things turn a corner for John and you, and that your prayers and those of others will be answered.

I believe a happy birthday is in order – I had no idea, so i wish you a ‘belated?’ happy birthday and hope that things get better and improve in your home situation.

The tutorials can wait – jeez – you have anough going on, on your blog to keep everyone entertained and out of trouble!!! You concentrate on what’s important, and that is John – and your own wellbeing. If you run yourself ragged – you are no use to him – and he is the one that needs you well right now.

    You are in my thoughts.

    Becca:
Being a Child of the king you know that trials come to make us strong and without a test, you can’t have a testimony. Keep looking to the hills from where your strength comes from. I do belive that no one really understands how hard it is to be a caregiver – longsuffering, but God’s hand is unchanging – hold on to it. You, John and the kids will be in my prayers daily. Love Nan’s message to you. I will also take that one to heart. If you go MIA for a while I’m sure we will understand. We will just be praying harder for you. Just remember – God Is Able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. (Eph 3:20)ReplyCancel

Becca, I just love your blog! What talent you have and thanks so much for sharing your talents w/us. My prayers and thoughts are w/you and your family and especially your husband. I too am going thru a tough time w/my husband John too. I’ve seen this wonderful healthy man quickly go down hill w/his psoriatic arthritis. It’s tough leaving him @ home while I have to go to work because we need health insurance benefits. We are among the many who have been turned down by the private insurance companies because of pre existing conditions and forced to work and not being able to care for my poor husband. I do get to go home and spend my lunch hour w/him before I have to return to work. This week was the toughest for him and I ended up staying home w/him 3 1/2 days because he was extremely ill. Take care and my prayers are with you Becca.
