Good weekend morning!!  I got to play a little bit last night, weaving this frame has been in my head since I saw Spellbinders Lacey Circles.   This was driving me crazy and even at the dinner I went to the other night I was going though it all in my mind – over under or is it better under over — loop around — thread through.  My hubby could see me counting it off in my mind – whew – glad it’s done – moving on to obsess about something else I haven’t finished, lol!  By the way this gorgeous sentiment is from Quietfire Design and is called Each of Us Has a Song.  (Ha..ha.. my hubby saw the stamp and said too bad some of us sing off tune.)

After cutting two sizes of  Lacey Circles I cut/embossed each with Standard Circles Large so that my circles were hollowed out enough that I’d be able to see the pattern once I started looping.  I taped one edge of each circle down to my work surface so that both would be stable.  Once I got around to the tape I switched it to the opposite side and continued looping until I finished all eighteen loops.  It honestly doesn’t take long – unless you’re watching a sad movie like I was ;-).  I centered the pair of woven hoops over a circle that I cut in the card with Spellbinders Circles Large.  I stamped on my lower layer and then framed everything up.  I also ran a border of Spellbinders Big Scalloped Petites across the card and embellished with little sage pearls.  The small ribbon wasn’t wide enough for a bow like I like, so I simply paired the 1/4" ribbon up with 1/2" sheer and tied them together.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Quietfire Design – Each of Us Has a Song
Paper:  Bazzill, Coredinations, Basic Grey – Capella
Ink  Adirondack – Pesto
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Lacey Circles, Spellbinders™ Circle Large, Spellbinders™ Big Scalloped Petites, Ribbon, Pearls

By the way, our Double Play winner claimed her prize but didn’t have all ten words for the Bonus which means it is up for grabs still!!  After another go at Random.org it pulled the number 752 which corresponds with Bonnie Rabon.  Bonnie if you can email me the double play words within 48 hours, I’ll get them in the mail to you next week!

I have more great news to share and this is about a freebie you can get your hands on with JustRite Stampers!!

Ok Mrs. Becca I am waiting on your Becca Bit for this tutorial! Or will it be a Becca bow? I am thanking you in advance because I love everything you create and you have inspired me tremendously. Because of you, I have been able to create several of your projects in which I thought I would never be able to attempt. I did two of your twist top boxes, one with windows and one without. They both were hits. Sorry, to say I have not posted any pictures to my blog as I create and forget about pictures then give the things away!

I’m rambling so I let you read someone else’s comment now.

Well, today marks the end of Double Play and boy was it a good one.  I have loved reading the comments and apparently so have you!!  If you haven’t visited in a while I issued a blog candy asking readers to give me an idiom they use all the time or one that someone else said that made them go, huh?  I thought I’d heard them all but I see that now I can add many more to my repetitoire.   I have to lead off with this very funny comment that one of my kooky lovable readers left – many others who left comments referred to comment #663.  Sit down with some coffee when you need a break and read through these – oh, but don’t sip when you read or you might spew, lol!!

From: Jan Lambert
Sorry about the extra post.  As my Grandmother used to say, I’ve got more troubles than a married woman!  Ya see, I got me two rugrats and a red-headed stepchild, and for the umpteenth time today I’ve had to give my floors a lick and a promise, ‘cuz they won’t wipe thar paws. I finished my second cup of liquid courage while I jaw-jacked with my snaggle-toothed neighbor, but I kept a thinkin I should fetch her a brush so she could get all the rats out of her hair. Anyhoo, as she was takin’ a drag off her cancer stick, she was a havin’ herself a hissy-fit ‘cuz her better-half got drunk as a skunk and went a huntin’ himself some 2-legged dear. I told her she couldn’t see the forest for the trees (or is it trees for the forest?), ’cause with him a gone, she could burn her boulder-holders, cut the cheese, or shart whenever she wants!  I guess I need to stop shootin’ the sh** for a while and hunt up some clean snot rags for the kids. They’re stuck in front of the boob-tube, and in a half past a hair we all gotta climb into the old clunker and go get my old man out of the hoosegow. Seems that he was a rubber-neckin’ and got into fisticuffs with the fuzz. They threw the book at him over a bunch of trumped up charges. we’re all going to celebrate over some gut-burgers at the Golden Arches. Once the kids are down we’re going to make up for lost time, and swing from the chandeliers. In the words of my wise, dearly departed, God-fearing friend, Martha, “All is well that ends”. Hope this wets your whistle.

I’ve contacted Jan privately to thank her for this madly funny comment.  In the meantime, let me get on with THE WINNER as picked with Random.org.  Here’s the number that came up:

Okay winner, hit me with an email through my contact page (link at top of page) within 48 hours to claim your prize.  If you have the words for the Double Play, include them in your email to me!

. . . like Christmas.  Yep that’s right.  You have to start somewhere right?

Today I’m sharing a cute little Christmas card to get me in the (cardmaking) spirit and thinking about how I’m going to tackle the task of accumulating enough cards for this season.  I didn’t get to send Christmas cards last year because we weren’t home with that unexpected trip – you can just bet this is a little task I will be absolutely savoring this year!!  My card uses one of the new Christmas sets from JustRite Stampers called Whimsical Christmas.  I thought the bird was adorable so I have it perched on Spellbinders Lacey Squares and Spellbinders Lacey Circles, turned on point.  My sentiment, placed on Spellbinders Tags Five comes from the Christmas Nested Sentiments and Verse.  Underneath it all I have a pair of Spellbinders Jumbo Scalloped Petite borders.

These images color up in a jiffy , so in no time flat I have the first card for my batch :-)  JustRite Stampers is releasing a batch of  new Christmas Sets in August including two Christmas Sentiment sets that have all the variety  you’ll need to finish off the insides of your cards or simply hang a tag like I did on my card today.  You can see all the new Christmas sets HERE.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  JustRite Stampers JB-09795 Whimsical Christmas, JB-09255 Christmas Nested Sentiments and Verse
Paper:  K&Company, The Paper Company – Classic Red, Bazzill Simply Smooth Ivory
Ink:  Adirondack Pitch Black, Colorbox Pigment – Cranberry
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Lacey Circles, Spellbinders™ Lacey Squares, Spellbinders Tags Five, Spellbinders Jumbo Scalloped Petite, Zva Creative Pearls, Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by!!

What fun! I love the little bird and the lacey circle and squares. I think the tiny pearls all around the square is the perfect touch to give the card some depth.

Hello Becca, I just recently found your site & I am so glad I did. Everything you make is just beautiful & you sure do have a lot of talent. How do you come up with your ideas for your cards? I have only been making cards for less than 2 years. I have a terrible time coming up with an idea for the card. Once I get the idea, then it takes me forever on what to decide about the materials that go together. Why is it so hard for me Becca, I really do enjoy making cards.ReplyCancel
