Hi there, I was in the mood for coloring so I sat back with this sweet little stamp and decided to dress it up a bit.  I don’t know why I never think to paper piece but finally did on this card after not getting a couple of areas to look like I wanted them too ;-).  Once I went off on that tangent I actually had a lot of fun with this and then I realized that this is a great boo-boo hider.  (I bet you all already knew that tho’, lol)!  For the card I’m sharing today I used a super cute #232 TulipTilda available through the Magnolia-licious Store.  By the way, Diana is taking preorders for a new collection called Bon Voyage.  It also includes a Shopping Tilda that makes me smile – you can see that new collection HERE

I colored Tilda with Copic Markers and pieced her dress, tag and flower.  On each of the pieced items I added shadows with deeper colors although it’s hard to see in the picture.  I layered Tilda on a combination of Spellbinders™ Petite Ovals LG and Petite Ovals SM and added a sentiment on to Spellbinders™ Tags Five using some Basic Grey Rub-ons I had in my stash.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Magnolia-licious #232 Tulip Tilda
Paper: Xpedx Brilliant White 120lb cardstock, My Minds Eye
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Petite Ovals LG, Spellbinders™ Petite Ovals SM, Spellbinders™ Tags Five, Pearls, Lace Ribbon, Basic Grey Rub-ons

Be blessed my friends :-)

Wonderful card. Thanks for the reminder about the ‘mistake-hider.’ The shading on the pieced areas add so much needed dimension to blend with the over-all appearance of the rest of the artwork. (Superbly done, of course.) I also appreciate Maryann’s “inspirience” word which I read as inspiration/ experience, a newly-coined one to me but very descriptive and apt.ReplyCancel

Becca, I’ve invested in my first set of Copics after drooling over your images for far too long. I also ordered a collection of Magnolias — I love your treatment of Tilda.

I have paper pieced to cover booboos before. Aren’t we just the most thrifty people not to want to waste a single snippet of paper. We spend a fortune on the tools and equipment and stamps, but then wait for paper to go on sale. Nobody would understand that logic but us’ns.

Hello there friends.  I know the posting has been odd and sporadic but no worries, this has been the perfect time for me to do some blog planning.  Thanks to all who were so kind with comments about the new Spellbinders reveals!!  My goodness, there are so many of the the new dies that I absolutely love!!  No arm twisting here, lol!   For this card I’m using one of the Our Daily Bread Designs new July releases called Our Daily Bread.

The die that I am using on this card was previously released so I can show you my take on one of its uses.  I love the angles on Spellbinders™ S4-288 Classic Diamonds.  On this card I paired it up with Labels Twelve for a neat frame.  In addition I’ve used Fancy Tags, Classic Lace Border Grand and Classic Ovals LG.  By the way, this diamond is much different from turning a square on point.  The diamond is taller and more narrow which makes it a welcome new shape and a welcome addition to my stash :-)

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Our Daily Bread
Paper:  Bazzill, 7 Gypsies
Ink:  Versacolor – Laurel Leaf, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Classic Diamonds, Spellbinders™ Labels Twelve, Spellbinders™ Fancy Tags, Spellbinders™ Classic Lace Border Grand, Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals LG, Ribbon, Making Memories Button, Ribbon, Pearls

Greetings friends!!  All that work with ornaments earlier this week sure got me all in the mood for Christmas!   Sigh, walking through Hobby Lobby just makes me smile from ear to ear ’cause they already have the Christmas stuff out.  I know, I know – why oh why do stores start putting holiday stuff out in June and July?  Well, because they see me coming!!  It used to get me frustrated but I’m amazed that having the stuff there gets me in the giving mood and is an ever present reminder of the birth of Jesus.  Last year we unexpectedly went out of town in November and didn’t return home until January, missing Christmas at home – although the spirit of Christmas was certainly with us.  I’m savoring plans for our giving this year.  I’m sure I’ll start early, I have plenty of supplies that I didn’t use last year, ahem…you’ve been warned – it’ll be knee deep here before you know it.  Which leads me into what I’m showing today . . .

We’re having a JustRite Christmas in July and we’re celebrating with a Blog Hop!!  JustRite Stampers has released new Christmas sets HERE and I snagged one to use in my project today from the Holiday Cheer Borders and Centers Set.  These little centers fit perfectly in the new Spellbinders 2010 Snowflake Pendants so I wanted to show how well they fit.  For my card I used some frilly Anna Griffin scrapbook paper that I cut down and mitered so that I could have a border.  Then I cut my Spellbinders™ Snowflake Pendant as a frame and popped up my gold snowflake along with a layer from Spellbinders™ Snowflake Wonder , two layers from Spellbinders™ Standard Circles LG.  As a gift to go along with the card, an ornament of course.  It can be flattened and included in the envelope with instructions to the recipient to fold it out and hang it on the tree!!   The ornament is made differently from the one I made HERE.  This one is simply four snowflake pendants (with a circle frame cut from the center)  folded in the center and glued together – how easy is that?!

Here is the order for the Blog Hop, so be sure to jump around to each of the designers to see more Christmas in July – we’ll have you in the mood too – I promise ;-)

The snow flake and the Heirloom Ornament dies are my favorite of all the new ones coming out in August. The operator that I talked to at Spellbinders Headquaters told me that all of these dies will be available August 1st.
