Well, without further delay, I’m thrilled to share Spellbinders™ S4-286 2010 Snowflake Pendants with you!!

This snowflake is one of the largest I’ve seen; its symmetry stretches it to the perfect size for a card front.  I cut out tons of these snowflakes making other projects and when I looked at the left over pieces that covered my desk, I mused how beautiful they were.  Then I thought why not accentuate the negative!!  All with the help of a negative cutout  I’ve created a set of 4.5" x 4.5" cards with a caddy and envelopes!

So, I’ve pulled together a step by step tutorial to show you the steps to make this ensemble.  You’ll find a product list at the end of the tutorial. (Click on any of the pictures to get an enlarged version).

Snowflake Caddy, Snowflake Cards and Envelopes Tutorial
1 – For Caddy body, score a 7.5" x 12" paper at 1", 1.5", 6" and 6.5" on short side. 2 – Turn 90 degrees and score at 4.5", 5", 9.5" and 10".

3 – Trim edges as shown, round corners, cut notch on end opposite flap and apply adhesive as shown.
4 –  Adhere sides of caddy as shown.

5 – For sleeve, score a 4.25" x 12" panel at 4 3/8", 5", 9 5/8", and 10".  Cut notch and round corners on flap end. 6 – Using S4-286 2010 Snowflake Pendants cut circle on flap end and cut three small snowflakes on opposite end.

7 –  Apply foam tape as shown and adhere sleeve to caddy.  8 – Use cut centers from three snowflakes to inset in center.  Embellish with pearls and bow.

9 – Add velcro dot to inside and flap of caddy.
10 – For Card, score a 4.5" x 9" panel at 4.5".

11 – Cut/emboss S4-286 2010 Snowflake Pendants from a 4.25" x 4.25" panel.  Cut center and accent. 12 – Adhere 4-3/8" x 4-3/8" to card base.  Apply foam tape as shown.

13 – Adhere all elements as shown.  Embellish with pearls. 14 – For envelope – score a 7.5" x 7.5" panel turned on point at 6" mark at 3.75" on all sides.

15 – Adhere bottom flap to construct envelope. 16 – Make three cards and three envelopes to fit into caddy.

I have another project to share with you using the S4-286 2010 Snowflake Pendants and my supply list follows the pictures.

When I received the Snowflake Pendants I immediately knew what I wanted to do with it.  I may have been guilty of thinking "you’ve seen one snowflake, you’ve seen ’em all".  Boy was I wrong!!  With the pendants and accent pieces you can pretty much create a snowflake of whatever size you want.  The snowflake pendants itself has a center and accent piece that works well to decorate while one of the accent pieces will allow you to extend the size of the snowflake.

From the moment I laid eyes on this frilly template, I knew I wanted to see if I could manipulate it into a 3D version.  Here I’ve created an ensemble of snowflake creations that each have a different purpose.  The first item is a free hanging 3D snowflake – glittered up and ready to hang on the tree.  The second, a card that looks innocent enough until you open it up and it reveals a pop up snowflake.  The third item is a snowflake box topper.  A tutorial to create these easy decorations is planned for the future.

This glittery snowflake was a joy to make.  Its diameter is around 4.25" which makes for a substantial yet lightweight ornament.  I also created a clear sided box to house the ornament.
This is a vertical pop up card.  Once opened, the inside becomes the outside and the snowflake pops up.  When closed, the snowflake collapses and the real outside of the card shows.  I needed a smaller snowflake so I used the accent piece to add legs on to the small center pieces of the pendants.  What I came up with was a "custom" snowflake!!  To give it a little bit of extra zing I knotted my ribbon and pulled it through the center of the snowflake, securing the knot with leaf pins.   I wanted the card to have clean lines and a punch of colors so the Waltzingmouse Stamps Very Vintage Christmas Stamp set gave me just the coverage I needed.
The snowflake on top of this gift box is stationary.  To me that’s why it was a great element to add that’s a little bit different from my normal bow!  The box is a perfect size for an ornament.

Hi there friends, I have a card to share today.  Yesterday my sister and I were talking about weddings so as I sat down to create I decided I wanted to do something dressy that could be used to celebrate a marriage or anniversary.  As I perused my stash of new JustRite Stampers  stamps, my eyes landed immediately on the JustRite Cherish the Memories Nested Sentiments and Verse  — to me this says it all!!  You must check out the other sentiments that go with the set – you can see them HERE.

I always reach for metallic gold, it’s definitely my preference but I’m also pleasantly surprised when I see silver used.  I dressed it up by making a bottom panel using Spellbinders Curved Rectangles.  On top of that layer I added Spellbinders Mega Ovals LG #5, Spellbinders Petite Ovals LG #5 and #2 and Spellbinders Petite Ovals SM #3.  On the edge I used Spellbinders Fancy Tags.

To keep the white ovals in the silver theme, while the ovals were still in their die template, I traced around them with a silver pen.  I love doing that – if only I could remember to do it more often :-)  As a final touch I added ribbon and a Zva pearl ensemble.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  JustRite Stampers – Cherish the Memories Nested Sentiments and Verse
Paper:  Anna Griffin, Xpedx Brilliant White Cover – 120 lb, Grafix Silver Foil Paper
Ink:  Versarmark
Accessories:  Spellbinders@trade; Curved Rectangles, Spellbinders™ Mega Ovals, Spellbinders™ Petite Ovals LG, Spellbinders™ Petite Ovals SM,  Spellbinders™ Fancy Tags, Clear Embossing Powder,  Pearls, Ribbon, zva pearls

Don ‘t forget to check out the great Blog Frenzy over at Spellbinders this week!!  A group of amazing designers will be showcasing new dies!!  Thanks so much for stopping by!!

    Hello Becca,

My gosh! You’ve done it, again. I cannot believe how you keep coming up with these terrific cards. I love the silver and the idea of tracing the inside of the die with a pen, before removing the die, is fab.

You are a constant inspiration, to me ….. to all of us. I cannot say enough about how much your work (talent) is enjoy and ‘reslished’. Thank you.

I know I’m really late with this comment, but I’ve just seen this in my backtracking on all that I missed this summer. I’m wondering what you used to stamp the sentiment and make it look silver. I see that you used versamark for ink, but is it silver embossed or do they make a versamark ink that is silver? Love this card, it is gorgeous, and the ribbon lacing is perfect. I have just celebrated my 25th (silver) anniversary, and love anything I see in silver. Beautiful card!!ReplyCancel

Okay, I just have to tell you that the comments you all left for the blog candy had us howling.  I forgot about so many of the things I want to see come back and oh my goodness, I forgot about some of the stuff I never want to see again.  It just took reading though the comments to bring it all back again.  Oh, and thanks for all your kind words – it would not be possible without you all!!  So without further delay we have a blog candy winner. . .
