Hello and welcome to the Our Daily Bread Designs June Release Blog Hop!

If you arrived here from Kathy Jones, you are in the right place!  If not, you might want to start at the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog to get your bearings.  If for any reason a link along the hop is broken, simply return to the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog  to see who is next on the list :-)  Blog hop morning is a busy time for blogs so if you are unable to leave a comment, you should have good success if you circle back to that blog at the end.

No words to collect this time around but three of our design team has prizes hidden throughout the hop – even the designers don’t know.  You’ll want to make your way through the entire hop for sure!

Here’s What You Need to Know to Win:

  • You have until Wedneday June 2nd at 8:00PM EST to finish the requirements to be eligible to win.

  • There will be 3 Winners . . . who will each receive a $15.00 Gift Certificate to the Our Daily Bread Designs Store to go toward the stamps of your choice!

  • Winners will be randomly chosen from all the qualified entries by the three designers with the blog candy.

Here’s What You Need to Do to Win:

  • Hop from blog to blog of the Our Daily Bread Designs Desgin team and leave a comment on each blog.

  • Return to the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog  and leave a comment that you completed the hop and left comments for each designer.

  • If for any reason you cannot leave a comment, please give us the name/s of the designers you were unable to leave comments for… and you’ll still be qualified for the drawing.

  • The lucky three designers who are holding the prizes will be revealed and will pick from their comments.  The names of the winners will be posted on the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog on Saturday, June 5th.

Now for my card for today.  We have four sets that are being released today and you can tell that as designers we all encourage Kelley to create more borders and flowers.  You can see all the new releases HERE.  Today I’m using a new set called Scripture Series 1  and Fleur de Lis Borders  My card has a hidden flap, I was sneaky!!  If you pull on the top of the Spellbinders Fancy Tag, out comes a bookmark.  When I saw the tall long scripture that Kelley laid out I told her how excited I was and that I was seeing bookmarks –  I knew they would be the first thing on my list.  I made the card large enough that if I wanted to put something larger like the Lords Prayer or Psalm 23 – they would fit as well.  The flap closes with Basic Grey magnets.

The pocket is made creating my top panel out of a folder piece of cardstock.  I put design paper on the front facing side and lined the inside so that it is disguised.

If you’d like more information on how to create the tight mat around the Labels Eight die cut, I have a tutorial for that HERE.  If you’d like to know how to make a double tied bow, I have a tutorial for that HERE.

 Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Scripture Series 1, Fleur de Lis Borders
Paper:  K&Company – Life’s Journey, Bazzill, The Paper Company – Kraft
Ink:  Versafine Black Onyx, Colorbox Merlot and clear embossing powder
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Labels Eight, Spellbinders™ Fancy Tags, Spellbinders™ Labels Four, Spellbinders™ Petite Ovals SM, Martha Stewart Gothic Arches Border Punch and Corner Punch, Wrights Home Button, May Arts Ribbon, Zva Creative Pearls, Basic Grey Magnets

Now I’ll send you on to our recent Queen for a Day over at SCS,  Grace Nywening, with a gorgeous creation!

I hope you had a wonderful holiday.  Blessings to you for the upcoming week!

Happy Memorial Day.  I’m grateful for the opportunity to salute those who have given their lives to preserve the freedoms we enjoy every day.   As the wife, sister and daughter and daughter-in-law of veterans, I have such respect for those who bravely step forward to defend our liberties.  An everlasting thanks to those who sacrificed so much.

I have a card to share today with one of my most favorite quotes.  Perhaps you remember me using the quote HERE?  Well courtesy of Quietfire Design, Suzanne penned the quote and committed it to rubber!!  Oh the wisdom of words, just in thinking about this quote there are so many occasions it will fit.   For me, this is such a breath of optimism . . . it says let go and just be you!

This is a clean and simple card for me.  I used a MS punch that needed some fudging to make the layers work.  If you’re curious what I mean about fudging, I have a tutorial HERE.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Quietfire Design – We Must Be Willing to Let Go
Paper:  NRN, White cardstock
Ink:  Distress Ink – Scattered Straw
Accessories:  Martha Stewart Modern Garland Corner and Border Punch, Silk Ribbon, Pearls, Heart Pin

Take care friends!

    Becca,

This card and your blog brought tears to my eyes & appreciation for the wonderful words you have for our brave soldiers. Everyone has opinions about whether we should or should not have a strong military prescence until something like 911 happens. They forget that our military is constantly protecting our freedom which allows us to go about our everyday lives as if nothing is wrong even though we are at war. I worked for 36 years as a civilian for both the Army and Navy. I repaired and calibrated aircraft instruments so that our fly boys could always be up there doing what they do best, watching our backs. I truly appreciate all that our armed forces do for us and I am so happy to hear that others feel the same way. Unfortunately to many take it for granted and believe me they shouldn’t.. God Bless Our Military.
    Beautiful Card Becca.

If you are looking for the blog candy you can read about the details on THIS post. Leave a comment and be sure you check in and grab the "Word of the Day for Double Play.

Hi there.  Several people left comments that they didn’t know why I would put drops of ink on a palette.  I’m hoping those readers are peeking in today so that I can explain a little bit.  The palette that I made yesterday is designed to hold the waterbased ink used to re-ink a Ranger Distress ink pad.  In addition to using the ink pads, I like to use the ink itself to watercolor with.  Although the distress inks are waterbased they seem to have more body that other waterbased dye inks, they are rich and they stay wet for quite some time on a palette.  The palette is simply a convenience when using the inks to watercolor an image and makes it very easy to mix colors.  Each of the 36 drops of ink I put into the palette were different colors – in their concentrated form they just seemed to be a dark drop.  Hope this helps!!  In fact, the card that I’m showing today features Bridesmaid Tilda wearing Wreath,  She is watercolored with Distress Inks.   The Tilda stamp comes from Magnolia-licious.

I’ve used several Spellbinders borders and they’re slightly hidden so I’ll explain.  At the top, I used the Easter Borderabilities turned upside down.  Around the gingham I used  one of the Lotus Borderabilities so that just the very edge is visible – I think it makes a fabulous edging.  Then for the flower strip I used the other  Lotus Borderabilties and one of the flowers from Flower Bouquet on top of each motif and turned the flower on point so that it showed the cool holes in the border.  For my Tilda image I cut a Petite Ovals LG and matted it with Big Scalloped Ovals LG.  The banner is cut by hand and the sentiment is a rub-on.  Hope this all makes sense – this was a ton of fun to play with the borders to come up with something different :-)

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Magnolia courtesy of Magnolia-licious – Bridesmaid Tilda wearing Wreath
Paper:  DCWV – Gingham, Strathmore 140lb Watercolor Paper
Ink:  Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossing powder, Distress Inks for watercoloring
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Big Scalloped Ovals LG, Spellbinders™ Petite Ovals LG, Spellbinders™ Spellbinders™ Easter Borderabilities® Petite, Spellbinder™ Lotus Borderabilities® Petite, Spellbinders™ Flower Bouquet, grosgrain ribbon, buttons, Lasting Impression rub-ons

Thanks for stopping by!!

I just love the magnolia stamps with the nestabilities, bordabilities, and correct me if I’m using the incorrect names for the dies, but there are so many out there! I really want to get some of them to use for behind my stamped images. I have a cricut, but I love the embossing you can do.

I have a friend who has a ton of magnolia stamps, so I hope to be able to try them out soon. We both have back (me) and knee problems, so getting together has been a bit tough. But I can’t wait for the day we can get to some crafting!!! We both have low tolerance for sitting and standing, so I guess we will be two loopy ladies doing our crafty thang! LOL!

  • ColoradoMay 30, 2010 - 11:28 am

Yep, I’m here!!! I”m ALWAYS here!!! LOL!!! OK, now I understand what the reinker palette is for… actually painting from it! I’ve read about using reinkers to paint with, but have to admit that I’ve never done it yet. That’s my problem… I buy all the supplies but then never follow through and try all the techniques!! I really need to get down to the business of crafting rather than reading about it and shopping for supplies!! LOL!! Thank you Becca for explaining yesterday’s post. I’d never be able to use that container until I used the watercolors!! LOL!! You know… waste not, want not!! And I still have a set of watercolors I bought last year and have not opened yet… so it would probably never happen.

By the way, as always… a very lovely card today. Thanks so much for more creative ideas on using various Spellbinders “parts”. Even though they are not really my style, I think some of the Magnolia stamps are really cute… just don’t get the no nose and no mouth thing! Oh and even though I don’t see them on this one, (maybe you masked them?) I also don’t care for the angel/fairy (?) wings I see on others.ReplyCancel
