Hello there chickadees!!  I got busy today but do have a card to share.   First though, let me mention that the "Tell me ‘Bout the Good Ole Days" Blog Candy goes until Friday evening.  You have an opportunity every day, to leave a comment on my post on April 25th.  Plus, take it from me, when you see the other comments, it’s good reading.   My family was gather around the computer the other night listening to some of the comments – ah the memories.

So on to my card for today.  This sweet little magnolia stamp is just how I feel today; pickin’ flowers and hanging out.  I colored her with Copic Markers (she colors up very quickly I might add) and pulled the rest of the card together.  Lol, this is my version of CAS – Clean and Simple.   Diana at Magnolia-licious sent this sweet creature called #3045 Tilda with Spring Bundle from the Hoppy Easter/Spring Bundle.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Magnolia-licious – #3045 Tilda with Spring Bundle
Paper:  My Minds Eye, The Paper Company – Blonde Columns
Ink:  Memento – Tuxedo Black
Accessories:  Copic Markers, Pearls, Prima Flower, Button, BossKut Flourish, Ribbon, Lasting Impressions Rub-on

Take care all!!

    Becca,

Do you have a trick technique for tying such beautiful bows? I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ribbon and use lots in tying bows. Mine never look as pretty as yours. If you have any tips on using ribbon and tying bows I would love to hear about it.

I’m so glad I am a follower of your blog because I really enjoy your art work. You are so creative. Thanks for any help you can give me with ribbon and bows.

    Hi Becca –
Your cards are always so great! I guess my grandma was ahead of the times, because she loved to do crafts and recycle 50++ years ago! I remember as a little girl, she taught us how to make wall picture plaques out of plaster of paris. We’d take a metal pie tin with fluted edges, lay a card (we’d gotten in the mail) face down on the bottom and pour the liquid plaster over the card, attaching a wire to hang it. We’d wait for it to dry, pop it out of the tin, and hang our cute little plaque on the wall for all to admire! I hadn’t thought of this in years — thanks for sparking the memory!ReplyCancel

I had a conversation with my 8 year old grandson last nite and we were sharing “good ole days”. When he was a baby he would sit on my lap at breakfast. My first thing in the morning is to have a cup of coffee and dip “nutter butter” cookies in my coffee. Of course, grandma had to share with grandson. I reminded him of that last nite and he responded with “I remember those wonderful times grandma”. They sure know how to melt your heart.ReplyCancel

Don’t forget the "Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Ole Days" Blog Candy that goes until Friday evening – you can read about it HERE and be sure to leave your comment on my post on April 25th.

Hi there!  I have fun little project to share with you today.  It’s a project I created over on the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog, but I can show it here as well.  When Kelley with Our Daily Bread Designs published the Scripture Collections this year I knew I wanted to do something with the entire collection.  The collection all together is so inspiring so I thought to make a booket out of them.  While shopping in the office supply store I came across some name badges and thought they would make  perfect pages for a book.  The more I thought about it, I envisioned a little booklet you could easily slide in your purse or carry in your car to pull out when you had a snippet of time.  I dressed them up a little bit by putting a fun tag on them to make them seem like a kit that you would pull out if you had a certain need.

You can see here that 10 pages is a full load for this box.  For more pages I’d have to make my box deeper or jump to a different container.

I kept these fairly simple with just bows on the boxes but on my next ones I see pearls and flowers and perhaps a belly band.

As I really got into putting these together I thought of all the uses – flash cards for a kid, pocket recipes for a girlfriend, a quote journal. I love it because it’s so small.

If you think that someone is tired of getting your cards I thought this would be an excellent change up and one they are likely to keep!  The best thing is that the kit uses all the stamps in the Scripture Collection 3 and Scripture Collection 4 sets by Our Daily Bread Designs.  Here are the steps I took and the supplies I used to make them (click on pictures to make them larger):

To get started, I purchased the ID Badge Holders at Office Depot.  They have both horizontal and vertical and come 12 to a set.  I’m using the vertical ones here.
Each booklet has 10 pages.  For this kit I cut 20 pages that are 2 1/2" x 3 1/4" each.  Then I prettied them up by using corner punches and borders punches.  On this kit  I used the same punch on each page for a consistent element.  For the kit that’s tucked into its box, I used a different border punch/corner punch combination on each page.  There’s lots of opportunity to make each one different.
As I planned the booklet I laid out all of the different scripture I wanted to include and paired together the horizontal pages and then the vertical pages, then planned their order.
This is the flip side of all of the pages.  Once paired, I inserted each pairing into a plastic sleeve.
Not having any jump rings on hand I snagged a couple of these spiral paper clips and cut them to make my own jump rings.  The rings need to be small to fit into the box – these are the perfect size.
Here’s how it looks when everything is assembled.  I left the cover page and back page whole.   Once the jump rings were in place I threaded ribbon through the top so that the packet would be easy to pull out of the box.
I fashioned a box from cardstock but the packet will easily fit into a tin or a baseball card holder.  Stay tuned and I’ll be publishing the dimensions for the easy to make box :-)
To finish up I thought up possible tags to go on the outside of the kit and generated them on my computer.  I spaced them out so that I could go back and cut them out with a die cut tag or shape.

Hint:  For this project I used Scripture Collection 3 and Scripture Collection 4 because they are the right size to fit within the pages of the booklet.  Some of the extra verses come from Scripture Collection 1 and Scripture Collection 2.   I also found out it was a wonderful use for scrap paper.  For me, I have several sets of paper that I’ve purchased that are not considered current any more and this was a perfect use because as a set – all the papers match.

Here are the supplies I used:

Project Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Scripture Collections 3, 4 and select stamps from Scripture Collections 1, 2
Paper:  Assorted Paper from my Scrap Bin, Memory Box – Provence on shown booklet
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black and clear embossing powder
Accessories:  Assorted Martha Stewart Border and Corner Punches, ID Tag Holders, Ribbon, Jump Rings or Paper Clips, Spellbinders™ Labels Eleven (for lid of box), Spellbinders™ Tags Five

Take care friends, I’ll be back soon!!

I think these could easily be adapted to scrapbooking as well. Some companies put out clear sleves that stack and have adhesive on the top so you can put multiple or a progression of pics in the space for one picture. I use them often, but I think your name tag ones could be used that way as well and look a little different. I especially like that there are two different directions that can be used.ReplyCancel

I hope you are enjoying reading about the past, I know it has opened the flood gates of wonderful memories for me! How about being able to buy penney candy for a penny, heck even some of the candy was 3 for a penny. Plus there were lots of choices! The soda was only 15 cents and it was in a bottle! How about the smell of hotdogs cooking over charcol, yum! Some of you will remember wearing kleenex on your head to church…….ReplyCancel

First off today’s project was wonderful–I love it and learned the use for somethhing new–THANKS.
When I was a kid I roller skated 3 times a week: on Thurs. nights, Saturday afternoon, then Saturday nights (until I started dating).
I was skinny as a rail, and no wonder, running and playing and skating all the time.
I started skating when I was 5—you learn quickly with skinned up knees. Ha
Hope you enjoy all our memories.
Would love to win—–Thanks, Tomi JoReplyCancel

More childhood memories: I remember having time to “play”. My grandchildren are so busy with scheduled activities they don’t seem to have time to play on their own. As children, we played for hours in our yard, pretending we were elves, or movie stars, or lost children, or something else. We fashioned houses among the trees. We had lots of fun playing in the hay in my friend’s barn and loved to look for wildflowers and wildlife in the woods. Life was more simple then and so much more enjoyable.ReplyCancel

OOPS, forgot a memory. We grew up in what was a “young” neighborhood at the time so there were a lot of kids. We played games outside almost every single night in the summer – – – kick the can, hide and seek, starlight moonlight hope to see the ghost to night, etc. We also played softball for hours and hours at a time. This was a time when kids were not overweight. We rode our bikes and played hard each and every day outside. We had so much fun and seemed to get along most of the time. It is fun to think about the simpler times.ReplyCancel

I hope you had a fabulous weekend!    Today I’m sharing a card with you using some newish stamps from JustRite Stampers – they are from the Joyful Heart Borders and Center Ovals set.  I know that when I use as set I say it’s my favorite, but it’s so true with this set.  It can be used for so many things and I love the optimistic message.

To make the card I constructed my card base then created a medallion.  The medallion bottom layer is Spellbinders™ Classic Scalloped Oval LG #4 followed by Spellbinders™ Classic Oval LG #3 and  and topped of by Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals LG #2.  The base of the card is three horizontal panels with a vertical panel layered on top.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  JustRite – Joyful Heart Centers and Borders
Paper:  Paper Studio – Mirabelle
Ink:  Colorbox Chalk Ink – Dark Moss
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Classic Scalloped Ovals LG, Spellbinders™ Classic Oval LG, Satin Ribbbon, Pearls, Martha Stewart Border Punch

Happy Monday, right?!?

I have this set and I too love it, just need time to use. Another memory I think of often especially when grandchildren or others say they are bored. Just doesn’t compute. We didn’t have television, video games, computers, etc, and the only time we spent indoors was eating, sleeping and doing chores and I honestly have never been bored in my life. We were safe to walk all over our small town to the movies which cost a dime, to the swimming pool, or just the grocery store for a dixie cup of ice cream which had our favorite movie stars on the inside lid. Fun, fun, fun.ReplyCancel

I got so excited thinking about receiving a “Becca” card I forgot to share one of my childhood memories. When I was young my brother, some friends and I would ride our bikes out into the country (I live in a small town) to a local farm house. The man who lived there was a retired horticulturist for the St. Louis Botanical Gardens. He loved gladiolas and had fields of them. He would cut large bouquets for each of us to take home to our mothers. We would then ride home and surprise our mothers with the beautiful flowers. It always seemed to take for ever to get to his farm and then back home again. Funny thing as an adult I checked the mileage to see how far it was (the farm is still there) and I found it to be less than a mile. Seemed like 50 when I was 8. ; )ReplyCancel

Becca, as often as I visit your site it amazes me how beautiful your cards are. Thanks for sharing.
One of my cherised memories is one of Easter Sunday family reunions. We drove 2 hours after early mass to my mom’s aunt & uncle’s place. They owned a fishing camp on the San Bernard river and probably 100 or more people would show up. Talk about food! With every mom bringing one or two dishes there were never a lack of something to eat. One aunt was famous for chicken & dumplings and she made them in the biggest pot I have ever seen. They didn’t last long. Another was noted for her banana pudding and she made a small wash tub full of it. We kids would hit that pudding before the main food. We didn’t want to get there and find it gone. And they must have hidden 50 dozen eggs.
Most of the aunts, uncles and even cousins are gone now. I’m so glad the Lord left us memories.ReplyCancel

    Love your art!
When I was younger my family always had these huge Sunday dinners. My Mom would make the gravy from the early a. m. You woke up to the smell the garlic & basil sauteing. The aroma had your mouth watering all day. I would go to church & stop at the bakery on the way home. Then I would take the Italian bread & dip in the sauce. Mmmm, I could almost taste it now.ReplyCancel

I got started catching lightning bugs by my Grandma Beatty. We lived on a quiet boulevard street for a while and when I was 3 or 4 Mom or Grandma would give me a jar and watch me across onto the boulevard divider where there were many bushes….full of lightning bugs. I remember having a liot of them in my jar and excitedly telling Grandma ” Look, I found a substitute for ‘lectricty. ” I was so proud.ReplyCancel

Love your card, Becca, it’s exquisite…ah, for the good old days…I remember we’d go to the movies every weekend on Sunday afternoons, my uncle would drive us as we lived in the country…we always looked forward to the weekend…we also climbed trees and played cowboys and indians…yes, even if I was a girl…with the neighbor’s kids…how carefree we were then and never bored…we’d walk in the woods and pick peaches off the trees and never worried that bad things could happen to us…our world seemed safe compared to today…i’m feeling nostalgic now…

Another gorgeous card! I love that Just Rite set as well, but your gift of design makes every stamp set look good! More memories of the good old days include playing Star Light, Moon Light and Hide and Go Seek with the neighborhood kids. We lived in a small town and we were able to use about a six block area as our playground. We could play safely way after dark and totally enjoyed the balmy summer nights.ReplyCancel

    Your cards…”a thing of beauty”
I remember “trick or treating” long into high school (of course I was quite small). Playing Red Rover with my brothers, building forts in the backyard and sleeping in them all summer, wearing dresses for school and no leggings or leotards back then. Christmas caroling from house to house and people inviting you in for cocoa, even if they did not know you. Celebrating all the holidays at school and having prayer before every event.ReplyCancel

Well back to the farm, hand churned ice cream was another treat. Using their own milk and hand picked peaches or strawberries, my aunt would put ice in the churn and then crank and crank and we would sit on the screened in porch on the swings and eat the most delectable ice cream. Have never had anything to compare.

Sure hope I win the great blog candy. Thanks Becca!

This card is so simple in design yet so simply beautiful!

Ready for another “Good ol days” memory? When I was in 5th grade I broke both of my arms falling out of a tree – I was quite the tomboy. I had the long casts on both of my arms. With one month left of school, they wouldn’t allow me in class because I was too much of a liability so I had a tutor. After school I went an spent the summer with my grandparents who lived in a fishing village in Upper Michigan. I was not too much of a liability for the commercial fishermen. They let me come on their boats and go out into Lake Superior to bring in their nets. I was so blessed to have the attention of these fun men who told me stories of dangers they experienced out on the “Big Lake” and so many more that I will always hold dear to me. I could go on, but I won’t. Thank you for letting me recall this what could have been a horrible lonely time but instead turned out to be one of the best summers of my life!ReplyCancel
