sorry if I seem to be missing in action. I caught some kind of bug last Sunday and even though I keep thinking I’ve shaken it, alas it keeps resurfacing. I normally burn the midnight oil when I’m creating but I’ve been hitting the sack in the evening. No worries, I’ll be back up to speed in no time. I have several cards almost finished but right now I do have something to share – another Becca Bit. I’m finding that’s it easier to do these bits than to attempt to field the questions by email. So this is a quick bit to show you how to make the Lace Petalled Flowers I featured recently on a card. Enjoy!!
Thanks for the video. I was wondering how you made those lovely flowers.ReplyCancel

I’m a big fan and admirer of yours! Enjoyed how to do something like that precisely rather than “catch as catch can” which is my usual mode. And you may not realize it but you had another Becca Bit in there that wasn’t mentioned: Using the triangle to keep your left edge straight when there isn’t much paper width to put against the top rail of the paper cutter. I’m thrilled with that technique! That will save me a lot of recuts.ReplyCancel

Thank you Becca for being so sharing. Your work is incredible and so are you! Please keep the tips coming. I could have gone through a ream of paper and never figured out how to punch that handle. You make everything so easy.

just a reminder… you are fabulous. Thanks for the tutorials.ReplyCancel
HeatherFebruary 17, 2010 - 10:53 pm
Thank you! I think I took the long road, cos when I made mine, it was wider than yours. I simply measured, as you had, but included the entire depth instead of just the end piece. I then flipped and cut out the lattice. Yours gives the thinner width, which is lovely!
PS: I have the regular lattice border punch and have lined it up as meantioned to make a wonderful 1″ strip. Cutting the paper at 1-1/4″ gave me a thin line down the middle making it look like a different punch. Cool!
I’m loving your Becca Bits :)ReplyCancel
CindyFebruary 17, 2010 - 11:34 pm

Happy Valentines Day my sweet friends! I am getting the queen treatment today but wanted to stop long enough to get some blog business taken care of. At long last I’ve finished the Woven Lattice Tutorial! Yay! Even though I have used it here for Valentines Day, it will also be perfect for Easter. I originally created the Woven Lattice in December 2009 and could not figure out exactly how I did it. Well, I’ve figured all that out now and in the making of video created quite a few panels. I can do it fairly quickly now so I created a basket and companion card to give to my Hubby today. When I was thinking on what to do with the panels, I knew that I wanted to use this stunning Waltzingmouse Stamps set (called Seasons of Love) featuring a filigree heart (before it was too late – whew, just in under the wire :-) Claire’s stamps are truly magnificent and this set is no exception. I love, love, love the accent stamps like the little heart flourish that I was able to put on each side.
Lastly, for the handle I cut a long strip with a Martha Stewart border punch that I lined up to cut on both sides making the handle symmetrical (aha…answering this ahead of time because I know someone will email this question, lol!!)
I created a companion card to go along with the basket. It’s a side open card (which I rarely do) and It has all the same elements as the basket. I reaaaaaallly got into making this set – ahhh the pleasures of stamping!
Project Recipe:
Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps – Seasons of Love
Paper: Bazzill, The Paper Company
Ink: Martha Stewart
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Classic Hearts, Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals LG, Spellbinders™ Scalloped Edge Frame, Spellbinders™ Ribbon Tags Trio Two, Spellbinders™ Petite Scalloped Circles LG, Spellbinders™ Petite Scalloped Ovals LG, Martha Stewart Border Punch, Pearls, Ribbon
So you wanna try? Below I have a Guide that you can download that will serve as a roadmap of sorts to use along with the video tutorial. A word of warning . . . this was a very difficult video to produce, I had to reshoot it more times than I care to admit. Please look upon it with a kind eye, I am using the most basic equipment and I think I’ve stretched it beyond it’s capability. You may need to pause the video to read some of the captions because the text capability of Windows Movie Maker is severely lacking.
You can access the video tutorial here:
Now, on to the Blog Candy Winner! My goodness to sit and read the comments and the things you all have put on your list to do rather than dream about brought tears to my eyes several times during the week. My daughter came up with the idea of the bucket list and I was afraid it might offend someone. Well I was so wrong – you all just jumped right in and shared your hearts! So….drumroll!!!!

Hi Becca – I’ve been waiting for this one; could send pictures of the mutilated frames I’ve tried on my own. But you made it so incredibly simple.
I was not able to get to the .pdf file for the template. I think I can work from the picture but would like to make some notes on it if there is a bigger copy.
Also is there a preferred ribbon width (and length). And have you tried it with the double sided ribbon? If so, how does that look?
Thanks again so very much!!ReplyCancel
Wow Becca what an amazingly devine gorgeous beautiful creative project, I could sit here all day and just look at it – seriously!
Thanks so much for sharing and for the tutorial!ReplyCancel

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Your tutorial was great, too.
A couple of questions…how much ribbon does it take to do the weaving? Do you cut the ribbon off the spool ahead of time or just take it from the roll as you are doing the weaving. I’m actually going to try it and hopefully won’t get too frustrated. Thanks again for taking the time to drawn the diagram and make the tutorial! Happy Valentine’s Day!

I hope I will be many more of these as it was truly fun. Your basket is beyond words!! Where you get your ideas is beyond me. God has truly given you a spectacular gift! A little late but Happy Valentine’s Day and I’ll bet “hubby” loved your card and basket. By the way, your directions were wonderful – – you did a fantastic job and everything was very clear to me as I was making my panel. Thank you again!!!ReplyCancel

Hi, again…
I just love this project. I have this MS border punch, but I can’t figure out what you mean by lining up the paper so as to cut both sides for the handle so it’s symmetrical. I guess I’m just too dumb to live…LOL I tried folding my paper in half and punching, but the paper was too thick.
Can you tell us how you did the handle specifically? Pretty please??? LOL
Oh, I know just who will get this for Easter!!! Thanks for the detailed video and for the lattice ribbon weaving guide. Did you know that there is such a thing as a ribbon weaver? I use one when I weave ribbons through English smocking on granddaughters’ dresses. It’s a flat plastic “needle”with an eye just wide enough for narrow ribbon! Your head must actually spin with creativity. Simply AMAZING BECCA!ReplyCancel
