I’m beginning a new feature here on Amazing Paper Grace called Becca Bits. So often you email questions on how I did this or how I did that. I admit it, sometimes I’m moving a little bit too fast or don’t realize I’m omitting things you want to know. So for those times when I’ve been brief on a quick technique or routine, I’ll share them here for the benefit of those who don’t know how. These are notthings thatI created . . . I’m just sharing howIdo it. The keyword here is quick though, cause if you blink, you might miss them, lol!
The first thing that falls into my Becca Bitscategory is how to make multiple windows on sheet of paper that doesn’t seem to fit through the die cut machine. On my recent Twist Top Box you asked how I did the windows. Lucky me, I had already taped a separate quick tutorial because I had a hunch there would be questions. I’m sharing that video with you today. I’m using my Wizard with cutting plates and magnetic mat, an oval Spellbinders die cut, tape and lastly the same cardstock I cut for the Twist Top Box HERE. Enjoy.
Say, please bear with me while I make further adjustments with my equipment and camera location. Okay, so now you know why I drug my feet getting these published, lol! I’m sure I’ll find the sweet spot soon :-)
Wow, that was easy! Thanks Becca, what a great technique that can be used for many different projects.ReplyCancel

WOW! As if you didn’t do enough for us already! You are just amazing Becca. Thank you hugely for giving us yet more of your time, talent and sheer inspiration.
Thanks!! When you explain/ show it I can see it is easy!!
I have a Cuttlebug, but recently I also bought a Wizard. I can see there are techniques such when you need the magnetic mat that won’t work as well without it when using Cuttlebug
The new feature, “Becca’s Bits ” will be an added bonus on your site.

This is my first comment and I was wondering 2 things. I have a slight hearing problem and am wondering if you can turn your recording volume up. your work is beautiful………everything,,,,,,, the cootie catcher brought back memories and was gorgeous, but I couldn’t remember how to fold it, and I tried several times. Would it be asking to much for directions? I have asked several people and showed them your card they all thought it was amazing but no one could remember how to fold it.. Thanks so much for whatever help your willing to share.ReplyCancel
june lanumFebruary 12, 2010 - 6:55 pm
This is probably not the help your talking about giving, but I need a place to start and thought maybe you could give me some directions…..
I set up a blog, but that is all I can do. I can post but don’t know how to design it, add gadgets, upload pictures or make a link to other info.
Any suggestions?ReplyCancel
Hi there! Remember this Twist Top box I created back in July 2009? Finally, I’ve managed to make the video to show you how to make it.
My original box was quite large and required a large sheet of paper; it was deliberately made that way to accommodate the Spellbinders frame used for the windows. Since I knew I would be making a video, I scaled the size of the box down so it would fit within a 12″ by 12″ sheet and could be made with a Scor-Pal.
This week I made these samples (right) at the reduced size.
Here is the video:
Clicking on photos above will take you to the original projects. ETA: Curious on how to get those windows through your die cut machine? Come back tomorrow when I release a new feature on my blog to show you how to do it!!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful vidio with us. Your work is so inspirational. All the cards and items you make are all so beautiful.
This is one I am deffinately going to try. Take care God Bless. xChrisBReplyCancel

Hi Becca: I always check out your creations when I go to the Spellbinders site. The twist top boxes are very nice. The video helped me to understand how it was made. Being as how I didn’t write down the instructions as the video was playing and I’m prone to forgetfulness, I’m wondering if you have further instructions on how to make the box? If so, where on your site would I find them.

Great Idea. I tried just scoring mine using my paper trimmer since I don’t have a scorepal. It was a little difficult and the first try was just not perfect, but I got the general idea and with a little practice, it will come out great.

[…] time. Both colour schemes couldnt be anywhere as different ..here is my twist box. I came across this post which inspired my box. She also has a template for it […]ReplyCancel
I know, I know, I’m ducking and running as I type this post. So you remember this box? Yes, I made several promises that it would be posted here with instructions. I guess the only thing I had not anticipated was six months flying by, yikes. Well the good thing is that we have several holidays coming up that cry out for this box. My next projects will be to use this as an Easter Egg holder. I wasn’t sure of the best way to do the instructions, so I have made a video that will be posted some time tomorrow – be sure to check back okay?
I knew exactly what stamps I wanted to use for this project and they were sent to me by my sweet friend Claire Brennan (stamp designer and paper engineer extraordinaire) with Waltzingmouse Stamps. She knows how very much I love my Spellbinders templates and that clever lady has designed several of her stamp sets to match – they are "Nestie Friendly". I’m using Very Vintage Labels 4 and as you see they make the perfect frame for my "windows". The window pieces were cut with Spellbinders™ Labels 4 and Spellbinders™ Petite Ovals SM. I also used several of the decorative stamps to frame motifs for the twist top of the box. The banner on the front of each box is hand cut and I selected the perfect sentiment from another Waltzingmouse Stamp set called Say It with Style – a set that was designed to take on a myriad of occasions.
I used the pages from one of the books I gutted for design paper – I love print paper! I tucked four small pieces of cut paper, embellished with an EK Success Punch, into the top of the box to give it a little zip. The handle is a simple as knotting a piece of lightweight ribbon and letting the knot catch when closing the box. This approach calls for a light item inside but if you have something heavier you will need to attach the handle.
Project Recipe:
Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps – Very Vintage Labels #4, Say It With Style
Paper: The Paper Company, book pages
Ink: Versamark and Ivory Embossing Powder, Colorbox Chalk Ink – Warm Red
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Labels 4, Spellbinders™ Petite Ovals SM, EK Success Border Punch, Acetate, Buttons, Pearl Cotton, ribbon
So yes!! I’m in the process of editing the video tutorial so be sure to keep an eye out for the post. I’ve had lots of requests for this one and I’m tickled to finally be putting the final touches on it.
P.S. Claire is another one of those wonderful, wonderful owners who wouldn’t hear of me trying to tackle her stamps while any hint of a crisis loomed over head – she made me vow to take care of important things first. Oh gosh, she’s a real sweetie and I adore her stamps . . . please give her a visit, for me :-)
wow!! SHOW stopping BOXED beauties!!! adorable!!ReplyCancel

Becca, great job on “Becca’s Bit”. It was a big help in showing how to get the windows in all four sides just perfect. Thanks so much for going the mile. We all appreciate it.
Love that you are sharing your knowledge with us “wannabe’s.” Your work is amazing. Thank you for sharing.
Becca,
Thanks so much for adding “Becca’s Bit”! What a wonderful thing for you to do for those of us who are visual! TFS!

Thank you for taking out the time to share your tips!
your work is beautiful………everything,,,,,,, the cootie catcher brought back memories and was gorgeous, but I couldn’t remember how to fold it, and I tried several times. Would it be asking to much for directions? I have asked several people and showed them your card they all thought it was amazing but no one could remember how to fold it.. Thanks so much for whatever help your willing to share.
This is probably not the help your talking about giving, but I need a place to start and thought maybe you could give me some directions…..
I set up a blog, but that is all I can do. I can post but don’t know how to design it, add gadgets, upload pictures or make a link to other info.
Any suggestions?
