Thanks for all the sweet sweet comments about my reveal during the Spellbinders Surprise Party.  Don’t forget there are more designers to come and lots more dies to be revealed.  I’ll list the links of all the designers at the bottom of my post to make it easy for you to navigate!  In the meantime (before I announce the winner of my blog candy) I have a card to share using some of the new Spellbinders die templates.  I’ve been playing around with them quite a bit and the wait to use them has been killing me :-)

I used this combination of  Spellbinders™ S4-265 Cross Collection  and Spellbinders™ S4-241 Jumbo Scalloped Petite Borderabilities®  for the Our Daily Bread Designs January Card Challenge.  As a new member company on SplitcoastStampers, more monthly challenges are on the way.  In the meantime, Chris Olsen challenged us to use a die cut and the color brown.  You can play along too – all entries for the challenge should be entered in Mr. Linky on the Our Daily Bread Designs blog.  You have until January 23rd at 8 p.m. to link to Mr. Linky.  You do not have to use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps to enter but it really would be nice.   Two lucky winners will win $15 gift certificate toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store.

For my card I used one of the newly released Our Daily Bread Design sets called Confirmation.  After embossing the sentiment in gold I stacked a medallion using  Spellbinders™ Petite Scalloped Ovals SMSpellbinders™ Petite Ovals, Small, and Spellbinders™ Petite Ovals, Large.  Pearls fit neatly in the cut holes of the Jumbo Scallops as well as the center of the cross. I finished up using some of my favorite gold ribbon.  Be sure to hop around and see what the rest of the ODBD designers have up their sleeves.  They are all listed on my sidebar if you need a place to start.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Confirmation

Paper:  Websters Pages, Coredinations, The Paper Company
Ink:  Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ S4-265 Cross Collection, Spellbinders™ S4-241 Jumbo Scalloped Petite Borderabilities®, Spellbinders™ Petite Scalloped Ovals SMSpellbinders™ Petite Ovals, Small
Spellbinders™ Petite Ovals, Large, Pearls, Ribbon

I’m thrilled to share my Spellbinders™ Surprise Party!! project with you!  As I thought of the best way to showcase the wonderful designs I’m revealing my thoughts went to elegant gifts that can be given to bride and groom as a keepsake, mementos of a special wedding.  The first item I’m showing is a . . .

Lacy Keepsake Bookmark

I love to give bibles as  wedding gifts and what better to go with the gift than an elegantly handcrafted bookmark as a keepsake!  I designed a double ended bookmark that can be made to a custom length for any size book or bible given as a gift.   When you look below, you can see that the medallion on the bookmark hangs over the bottom edge and the crosses lay at the top without getting caught inside the pages.

These crosses are so elegant and beg to be stacked but that’s not all – they do double duty as embellishments – that’s what I used for my medallion.  However they are used, they look regal and the texture is stunning.

This is a quick gift to make for a bride, a groom, anyone at your church or a friend in the hospital. Just so that you can see how I stacked the crosses and altered them to use as an embellishment, I’ve put together a step by step so that you can see the mechanics of assembling the stack and medallion in detail.    Here we go!

Project Recipe:
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ S4-265 Cross Collection, Lace, Ribbon, Pearls, Tassel, Jump Ring, Head Pin, Foam Tape, Glue Dots, Krylon Gold Leaf Pen
Stamps:  None
Paper: TPC Studio – White Shimmer, Gartner Treasure Collection, Garnet Treasure – Shimmer
Ink:  None

So now it is my pleasure to reveal the set I used to make the bookmark above.

This new set is called S4-265 Cross Collection.  The MSRP for this collection is $19.99 and it is a Limited Edition set, available only through May 30, 2010.  The set is made up of four elegant crosses in graduated sizes which I’ve listed below from smallest to largest.

1.  1 5/16 x 1 5/16”
2.  2 5/16 x 1 11/16”
3.  3 x 2 1/4”
4.  3 9/16 x 2 5/8”

Speaking of gifts, I wanted to put together another gift item for a bride and groom and this time created a Framed Wedding Triptych.

Using S4-265 Cross Collection as the focal point for the center panel, I wanted to draw balance in my creation so I added panels with verses on each side of the hanging cross medallion.  The verses are my favorites – 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and Amazing Grace.

Using shimmery and golden papers I created a frame from Spellbinders™ S5-006 Curved Rectangles.   Again, the crosses do double duty as embellishments so over each of the verses I used the largest cross and extended it so it peeks up over the edge.  The two notches on the inside of the largest cross makes  a perfect tab to secure the cross as an embellishment.  Behind that pairing, I used cross #3 to add height to the embellishment.

For the center panel, I decided to leave the backing out of my frame so that you could see though.  To give some stability to the hanging crosses, I backed it with an oval frame created using using  Spellbinders™ S4-110 Classic Ovals LG #4 and Spellbinders™ S4-110 Classic Ovals LG #5

The design is finished off with ribbon and pearls.  I hope this is a keeper for when you don’t know quite what to give for a wedding.

Project Recipe:
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ S4-265 Cross Collection, Spellbinders™ S5-006 Curved Rectangles, Spellbinders™ S4-110 Classic Ovals LG, Pearls, Ribbon, Foam Tape, Glue Dots
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – 1 Corinthians, Amazing Grace
Paper:  ANW Crestwood Black Magic Metallic, ANW Crestwood Gold Mirror Paper, ANW Crestwood Gold Foil on Ivory, The Paper Company Ivory Cream
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black

Your site is so apty named…Amazing paper grace. I love that you share your talents…I’m so unimaginative as to never have thought of turning/tilting the circle a bit, or extending the length of the cross as you have. And what magnificent pieces you create when you look at something to use it just a little bit different than how it was designed. That’s what makes you an artist by every measure of the word. Back in Jan., when I saw the triptychy with the crosses, I knewthis set was a must have for me. I couldn’t afford to buy them so they went on my wish list. Yea, I am so excited, I was finally able to order, I just received the crosses in the mail. After seeing the crosses in person, I am in awe of the detail and the beauty of each one. After I quit drooling, I looked up the two items you made using this set, ha, this time I’m not only drooling but my tongue is hanging out at the same time, lol!

I am finally taking the plunge. I have been lurking, or stalking, whatever the term is, along with hoarding art supplies for about a year-year and a half and I have made only one thing. The combination of the crosses and your triptychy are too big of a lure, challenge, for me not to try. I am changing the scriptures for Easter but it will otherwise be the same. Thank you so much for all of the awesome art you share with us. I love your style!

Quick reminder . . . I have a little bit of blog candy to share :-)  You can enter a comment HERE once a day and I’ll pick a winner on Saturday, January 9th!

I have another quick card to share with you today that I actually made quite some time ago when I was a member on the Splitcoast Dirty Dozen.  At the time it seemed odd to share it out of season, but guess what . . .  it’s in season now (grin)!!

I used Spellbinders™ Classic Squares LG to setup a grid for the card.  On the center grid I used my favorite dimensional heart from SAR and the remaining are from a Heart Punch.  I made it a window card (using the same square die) so that the dimensional heart is actually on the inside of the card but when closed it’s visible on the outside too.  Lastly I added a sweet little tag and hand wrote "big love", tying it on with twine.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  None
Paper:  Coredinations, 140lb Strathmore Watercolor Paper
Ink:  None
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Classic Squares LG, heart punch, brads, twine, tag

If you didn’t know, Spellbinders is giving a Surprise Party.  Yes, beginning on January 7th, new 2010 die templates are going to be revealed.  The anticipation is killing me – I get to show mine on January 8th.  You will not want to miss this – details HERE.
