How many of you remember this stencil I used last month?  Here I’ve pulled it out and made it into a tag to match my card below, but there’s a neat story to go along with the stencil now!  So many people emailed to ask the origin of the stencil and I was not completely sure.  I thought it was a Dreamweaver stencil but confirmed it with several people who still had the original packaging.  In addition, I was contacted by Dreamweaver to confirm the product number (LG608) and such.

So here’s the very pleasant surprise – Dreamweaver has remanufactured this particular stencil and it’s available for purchase.  What?  How cool is that?  Heavens, I had people calling my house to try to locate this stencil (no names mentioned here to protect the enabled *wink*).  Well pine no more – go get it while the getting’s good!!
I’ve been in the middle of this card for longer than I care to admit . . . happy to finally share it with you.  The sentiment ranks among my very favorite and was truly the inspiration for me to dig out the stencil that I’ve had in my stash for many years.  The lovely hand penned saying, Sleeping Under a Quilt, is one of the new releases by Quietfire Design.   In fact, if you’re getting the stamp, Suzanne may have the stencil on order – just ask on the ordering page.

After inking up the stencil with Chalk Ink, I ran it through my Wizard with the same sandwich I use for embossing nesties- both white master mats and the tan mat.  That presses the ink onto paper and gives a raised area where there are holes.   I layered vellum on top of the quilt and framed it with one of my favorite Spellbinders Frameabilities, Classic Frame.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Quietfire Design – Sleeping Under A Quilt
Paper:  K & Co., The Paper Company, Cordinations, Bazzill Swiss Dots
Ink:  Colorbox Chalk Ink – Pink Pastel
Accessories:  Spellbinders Classic Frame, Dreamweaver LG608, Ribbon, Pearls

Brrrr . . . as cold as it is these days, I’ll bet many of you are sleeping under quilts.  I still have one that my grandmother made for me when I was about 10 years old.  Yep, that’s one old quilt, but it surely is a blanket of love :-)  Stay warm friends!

Speaking of Pincushions . . . I realized that I had not shared this one with you.  I made it during my tenure on the Dirty Dozen and can share it on my blog now.  Just in case you didn’t know . . . I love to knit and do quite a bit of felting.  Once you are hit by the felting bug there’s little hope.  What happened for me is that I was doing small felting projects like purses then started looking for way to bring that wonderful texture over onto my cards.  Fast forward to the present time, about once a month I hit the Goodwill store and pick up sweaters that are 100% wool.  When I get them home, I put them in the washer and dryer (separately, and in a pillowcase) and felt them right up.  Oh my word, that felting cuts like butter under steel rule dies.  I pull out some of my old Sizzix Steel Rule Dies and go to town.

So my pincushion is made from old sweaters!   When I saw this cute cupcake made by Betz White, I knew I had to make one.  It was just the icing on the cupcake to cut flowers from the same felted fabric and make a matching card.

Project Supplies:
Stamps:  Inkadinado
Paper:  140lb Strathmore Watercolor Paper, Marcell Kay (Monkey Around), K & Co. (SeaGlass), Bazzill, The Paper Co (Solar White)
Ink:  Black Brilliance
Accessories: Spellbinders Standard Circle Small, Labels Four, Sizzix Flowers, Ribbon, Pearls, Tombow Markers, Copic ABS

Stay warm friends!  By the way, guess who’ll be celebrating 27 years of wedded bliss on December 4th?  Me!!  My sweetie pie is under the weather, but it won’t keep me from giving him a great big juicy smacker!

    Becca,
I love to felt also and have made the cupcake pincushions. They are just so cute. Do you felt from scratch using wool roving? I love doing this rather than knitting first then felting. For me that takes too long since I’m a slow knitter. I scour the 2nd hand shops for wool sweaters also. I also beg everyone for their “holey” and spotted sweaters. People are amazed that you can do such beautiful projects with them. I haven’t used the dies yet. Thanks for the tip.
