Shadowbox Card and 3D Gift Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Shadowbox Vignettes 1" Frame for more info and links to product see www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=34623
Hi there, Becca Feeken with Amazing Paper Grace here.  I’m so tickled to be introducing my newest collection Shadowbox Vignettes and in particular Shadowbox Vignettes Adjustable Frame – 1″.  Can I just tell you that I’m smitten?  Here’s why.  I’m introducing three new Adjustable Shadowbox Frames that will make Frames any size, any dimension.  And if that’s not enough, I also designed a whole host of embellishments that can be used with Shadowbox Frames or with stand-alone cards.

I’m not kidding when I say you can use the frames for a gazillion different things.  Kids artwork on fridge, a mailing caddy for a dimensional card,  a diorama – I could go on.  But that’s not why I’m so tickled today, I’m tickled because I fell head over heels in love with making this project today.  Indulge me friends, I took a lot of pictures.  Meet my new style of gift box made from frames.

That’s right, frames got awesome enough to take the gift giving scene away from the plain ole box.

My project today is using Shadowbox Vignettes Adjustable Frame – 1″ to make the three sweet little drawers that live in the chest.  I’ve pulled out the drawers a little bit so that you can see their dimension.

And here the drawers are all pushed in and you can see the little buttons I added as handles.  Now that I know the size needed for these drawers I think my button hunting is going to be a little addictive!

Right smack in the middle of all the fun are these sweet little 1″ frames!!  See, I told ya!  These frames are the basis for so many fun 3D projects and are a must add to your toolbox.  Here I’ve made them 4″ x 4″ but you could make them rectangular if you like because they can be made any size your heart desires.

Quick Tip – How to Assemble Shadowbox Vignettes Adjustable Frame – 1″

With the 1″ frame you cut 4″ strips.  Cut the length of the 4″ strip to match the dimension you want your frame.  Then, apply two matching dies to the edge of your paper.  The matching bookended dies will cut the leg of your frame and prep the edges for perfect assembly.

I’ll be linking a video at the end of my post to walk you though!

You might just wonder what would fit into such a lovely but little box . . .

http://shrsl.com/1fku2
Then Bam!  Look at what treasures you can store there!  My idea is to give a gift trio of jewelry and to create a box where the first drawer holds the earrings you are giving as a gift, the second drawer holds the bracelet you are giving as a gift and the third drawer holds the necklace you are giving as a gift.  You can make the trays any size you like.  Can you imagine the surprise?

P.S. A little request: Can you design a Glimmer Die that would coincide with some of your lace dies? Putting the Glimmer right on the lace? Is that possible? I can see it so plainly in my head! LOL I guess glimmering first & die cutting last, might be easier that way! LOL ;)ReplyCancel

I’ve been a long time admirer of your work and over the years I’ve developed a small collection of your dies and also have your bow maker. I so love your cards as they are so elegant. I have made shadowboxes from scratch, but to have a die that does the cutting is a must have. Thus, I’ll have more time to decorate and make more shadowboxes. I teach classes and will be doing a crop in the near future, so I know people will love using this die.ReplyCancel

3D Depth and Dimension are the order of the day!  Hi there, today we are sharing with you a great new Amazing Paper Grace collection with a blog hop featuring Shadowbox Vignettes.  It is a followup to my favorite 3D Vignettes Collection and at the core of the collection are a set of Shadowbox Frames that will allow you to make a frame any size you can furnish the paper for.  These frames sport a face that is 1/2″, 3/4″ or 1″

Whether you are hanging your kids’ artwork on the fridge with a lightweight frame changed out every season or if you are sending your glorious dimensional cards is a frame with a lid – there are so many ways to use these Shadowbox Vignettes dies.  In fact, we think they are a great addition to your crafting toolbox.  If you’ve looked at the die and cannot quite imagine how it goes together, well never fear, there is a video for that and I’ll show it at the end of my post.  The video has extra 3D inspired projects not seen here, so be sure to have a peek or even fast forward to the end.

About 3D Shadowbox Vignettes

Layered Die sets were introduced with 3D Vignettes and people quickly realized you could use them standing alone in cards or you could use them layered together in a diorama.  Shadowbox Vignettes continues the tradition and as you might guess, the layering sets can be used in both Shadowbox Vignettes and 3D Vignettes.  In addition to the 3 core adjustable frames and the four layering sets, I designed a host of embellishments sized to fit your frames as well as your standalone cards.  I’m particularly tickled by the easel (necessary to stand a shadowbox frame on a desk) that also transforms into a pocket or a basket.

My Projects For Today.

This is the 1/2″ frame.  It is 1/2″ on the face and I’ve cut it into a 5″ x 7″ frame for a card.

This is the 3/4″ frame.  It is 3/4″ on the face and I’ve cut it into a 5″ x 7″ frame for a card.
S4-980 – Adjustable Shadowbox Frame with 3/4″ Border

Introducing Shadowbox Vignettes by Amazing Paper Grace for Spellbinders - featuring Adjustable 1/2", 3/4" and 1" Frames for detail see www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=34590

This is the 1″ frame.  It is 1″ on the face and I’ve cut it into a 5″ x 7″ frame for a card.
S4-981 – Adjustable Shadowbox Frame with 1″ Border

I wanted to make the same card using each of the frames so that you can see the difference.  I’d love to share how I’ve been using them in my daily crafting.  The 1/2″ frame is perfect for small shallow boxes – to hold a small picture, as an accenting border on a card.    The 3/4″ frame is great for pictures and for highlight depth, especially in layering scenes.  The 1″ frame is great for 12×12 scrapbook pages, refrigerator art and for making 3D items.  No one frame is limited – I’ve used each frame for every idea I’ve given here.  Here’s what the dies look like:

Introducing Shadowbox Vignettes by Amazing Paper Grace for Spellbinders - featuring Adjustable 1/2", 3/4" and 1" Frames for detail see www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=34590
What I like best about the frames is that they can be made to any size – 5 x 7, 4.25 x 5.5, 12 x 12, it’s up to you.  All of my frames today are 5 x 7 because that’s the size card I normally make.

The 1″ frame is always cut from a 4″ strip of paper and then the edging dies cut the paper for the proper miters and fit.
The 3/4″ frame is always cut from a 3″ strip of paper and then the edging dies cut the paper for the proper miters and fit.
The 1/2″ frame is always cut from a 2-1/8″ strip of paper and then the edging dies cut the paper for the proper miters and fit.

Each leg of the frame is cut to match the dimension you want – for instance a 5 x 7 inch frame will have two legs that are 5″ and two legs that are 7″.  There are two matching bookend (left and right) dies in each set.  You cut two with the straight edge and two with the tabbed edge for 4 to make the 4 legs of the frame.  I encourage you to watch the video.  It will all make sense, I promise!

Here is how they stand up – the easel is so cute!!

Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month for February 2019 - Enchantment Tall Flip and Gatefold Card - Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using this Spellbinders Die can be found at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p= 34574
Hi sweet friends – where did the last month go?  I’m back with another die of the Month and looking forward to a busy February!!  This month I am sharing – a die called Enchantment Tall Flip and Gatefold Card, it’s the Amazing Paper Grace February 2019 Die of the Month.

P.S.  Let me share this before I forget — The Amazing Paper Grace Creative Team and I will be introducing you to Shadowbox Vignettes in a Blog Hop on Monday, February 4th at 9:00am right here!  Many of you have been asking when this collection is coming and I’ll share all the deets!

Inspiration for this Month’s Die

I love a die that can transform and do different things.  In December I introduced a square gatefold card that could easily be parlayed into a gift basket for an ensemble look.  For February, I’m introducing a tall 5 x 7 rendition of that kind of die.  My initial thoughts were to make a Gatefold Card, use it for a Card Background, make a Basket, and cut out the pattern for candle wraps.  I know there are many more ideas that but I was loving where it was all going!

I made a video to show you how easy it is to to make a basket:

For my first project I created an easy to make card using the complete die set (minus inner rims) for a background.  With this die I can pick and omit which dies to use for a different look because there are 6 different inlays that can be used inside the card.

Here I have made an easy gatefold card by combining two panels.

This is my favorite project with the die – and that is to use the folded panel as basket handles.  This makes the cutest basket ever – perfect for candies or pencils or even to deliver a batch of cookies!

And there you have it!!  Pop over to the Spellbinders Blog to ——>THIS POST <——– to have a look at many more pictures of the Enchantment Tall Flip and Gatefold Die.  If you are already a member or have purchased any of the Die of the Month Dies, I hope you’ll leave a review of the die on the Club Page.  If you like the direction I’m going with these dies, please leave a comment on the Spellbinders Blog Post so that I can continue to create in the same vein.  As always, if you have a constructive comment on how the dies work for you, please leave it – I read all of these and we discuss them as I plan additional designs.

Just wanted to comment on how much I love the way you do your demonstration videos. No unnecessary background talking and straight to the point. I wish everyone who posted would post there videos in the same manner. It seems I almost always have to go into at least 5 mins into the video before I actually get to the demonstration . I don’t mind the spoken instruction , it is just the needless chit chat that people tend to do before they actually get to the point. You always do just right in your demonstrations. I really appreciate that. Love this new die and the cards and the project turned out beautifully. Blue is my favorite color (for this month anyway) LOL… This is definitely another hit. Hope things are falling into place as you are getting back to normal after the storm damage. (what ever normal is) LOL … Have a wonderful day . God bless…Denice with a “c”ReplyCancel
