Today I’m sharing a sweet project that Diana with Magnolia-licous picked as the DT Sketch project for September; it’s an accordian mini file – easy, easy, easy!   Stamper extraordinaire, Valerie Stangle, put the step by step directions together for us and you can see them HERE.  The cool news is that you can make your own and upload it to the Magnolia HighLites Blog by September 30th for the chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate to Magnolia-licious.
For mine I followed the directions to a "t".  Because I’m sending off some stamped up images for coloring, I used vellum business sized envelopes that were cut down to the size specified in the directions.  Ooooh I like the see throughiness :)  I then cut the tops with a Fiskars scallop punch and added tabs with a tab punch.

I used  #287 Tilda Picking Lilacs for the front of my accordian file and for my card.  What a cutie pie.  She can be purchased on the Magnolia-licous site and the thing that I’ve found about these sweet urchins is that you cannot stop with just one.  Diana has just restocked the store so you have plenty to choose from.

I stamped and mounted my cut out Tilda on an oval cut with Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large which I in turn mounted on Spellbinders Labels Five and used the same medallion for my card.

Project Recipe:
Stamps:  Magnolia – #287 Tilda Picking Lilacs

Paper:  Bazzill, DCWV – Rustic
Ink:  Memento – Black Tuxedo
Accessories:  Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large, Spellbinders Labels Five, Ribbon, Copic Markers, Flower petals and bling.

Thanks for stopping by!  Remember, you can still leave a comment for my blog candy HERE.

Just absolutely beautiful Becca. Your “Magnolia Accordion Mini File” would make a nice birthday card for a teenage girl with tid bits of her life from birth thru her current year in each pocket – her first picture, the birth anouncement, hair from her first hair cut, the first tooth she lost and some of those crazy tokens she felt were so very important to be saved while growing up.

What wonderful ideas you come up with Becca. Thanks for sharing them with the public and especially those of us who do not have an imagination like yours.

    Thanks.ReplyCancel

My goodness I feel like I have tons to tell you today.  Hang in there until I can tell you about my Blog Candy, okay?  Sheesh, I haven’t had Blog Candy since forever, but I have some for you at the bottom of this post.  First of all, I’m so tickled to share some of the new releases from Our Daily Bread Designs.  My card today is from the Friendship set.  The challenge was thrown down for the Design Team to create a pocket card using the new sets.  I wanted to do something a little bit different than my every day cards, so I came up with this design, a tall skinny card that will fit into a business sized envelope.

The sentiment fits in a pocket on the front of the card.  For my sentiment I used Spellbinders Long Rectangles, Large and to the back of that I glued Spellbinders Fancy Tags, so that I’d have a decorative top.  The tag is nestled so that just the words "It is such a Blessing" are shown.  Hee…hee.. the person will have to pull the tag to find out what the blessing is.  The neat thing is that the tag can also be used as a bookmark (it’s 5 3/4" tall).

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Friendship
Paper:  K & Company, The Paper Company
Ink:
Green dye based ink, Colorbox Chalk Ink – Pink Pastel
Accessories:  Spellbinders Long Rectangles Large, Spellbinders Fancy Tags, Ribbon, Pearls, EK Success Moroccan Lace Border Punch

Say would you like to participate in the challenge?  Well all the deets are on the ODBD blog.   The challenge is to make a pocket card of any style, shape, with as many pockets as you want. There are numerous tutorials on SCS in the Resources Section that you can use, or come up with your own design.  Then, link your card to the ODBD Blog by Thursday, September 17, 8:00 pm EST.  Winners will be announced on the ODBD blog on Saturday, September 19.  Anyone can play along, but only those using ODBD Stamps as the main focal point will be eligible to win.  Be sure to visit the ODBD Blog on Sept 19 to find out who won!

Now, on to my Blog Candy!!  I am so appreciative of the people who stop by daily and leave me comments, so many of the names are familiar and I consider you friends.  The last time I gave blog candy my counter was at 2 million page hits, now it is at 3.5 million page hits –  I am more thankful than you can ever know.  My journey in blogging was one that brought me through some very sad times and has kept me busy.   I still appreciate the company, you all keep me positive and for that I thank you.  So again, for your warm patronage I am offering Blog Candy.  Here’s what I ask – please leave me a comment and let me know what you would like to see more of (excluding tutorials).  I expect that many of you will say tutorials – I already know that and will do my best to do more – otherwise, I’m curious to see what kind of cards you are hoping you see when you click the open button.

Feel free to leave a comment on this post every day until I pick a winner.  When will that be?  Dunno, I always like for that to be a surprise.  Plus life is very hectic right now so I’m not sure when I’ll have a minute to wind things up.  Just keep checking back with me  – I’ll announce the winner and the winner has 48 hours to contact me to claim their prize before I draw another name.   Oh yeah, in addition to the items you see above, I’m giving away two cards.  If you have seen something on my blog and it hasn’t been sold, I’d love to give two of them to the winner.  Thanks for stopping by to see me today, I know that I am blessed beyond measure.

Such a gorgeous card and so inspiring! I love your style and check your blog daily. I would love to see more masculine cards – birthday cards for men, Father’s Day, etc. I find them so much harder to make as you can’t put bows or flowers on them LOL!ReplyCancel

  • EliSeptember 3, 2009 - 7:35 am

Hey there friend…I’m back home and working with Spellbinders again. I love the pocket card, so beautiful. So, more things with interesting, new ideas on the card face is fabulous. I also like the idea of some masculine cards and maybe some kids cards…like “tween” age…I have one of those, you know.

    Cheers, have a fabulous day.ReplyCancel

  • Patricia RademacherSeptember 3, 2009 - 7:36 am

    Becca,
This is one of the most beautiful cards I’ve ever seen. I stop by your Blog almost everyday, and you inspire me with all of your creativity and bless me with your words. I started making cards and visiting blogs because of an illness for a diversion, and you certain have helped.
As far as the blog candy goes, that is so nice of you, but we get so much out of your site, just by visiting. I love the cards that are simple (for you) and elegant, and all your hints about where to buy things for bargain prices are terrific. My God Bless and Keep you and your family. I hope next year to be able to find you someplace and take a class with you.ReplyCancel

  • Debbie NelsonSeptember 3, 2009 - 7:39 am

I love seeing all your cards..you are so inspiring to me! I send about 50 or 60 cards a month to people on our prayer list at church…I always seem to struggle with masculine cards of encouragement for the men on the list I would love to see some of your ideas…thank you for the chance to win your beautiful blog candy and two of your creations!ReplyCancel

  • EliseSeptember 3, 2009 - 7:41 am

Your blog is simply stunning. I can’t imagine asking for anything more then what you do already. All I could ask for is more of the same. Your cards are just beautiful and always amazing you eye for detail. So elegantly done and never overly done or too busy.ReplyCancel

  • RandiSeptember 3, 2009 - 7:41 am

Becca, I have subscribed to your blog for sometime. You are such an inspiration to me. I think because when I get to run wild with my own choices I often pick pastels, with ribbon, bows, flowers, and the like. But right now I have had to make “man” cards….for them to give to others and for me to give to them. I find it a wonderful challenge. ha! I struggle because men don’t really card about the design of the card….just don’t make it girlie…..

So my request would be for you to include a few “man” cards. I would love to see what you do with that challenge. Wait…have you made them before and they are posted somewhere? Tell me where and I am there!!

    Thanks for the Blog candy.

    Becca,

I love everything you do….you create beautiful things and God created a beautiful you. I am new to your blog and haven’t even had enough time to explore it all, but I have been looking at the projects that come out in the email prompt I am getting and they are all beautiful. What I thought was really fun today was the way you combined spellbinder dies to come up with a new object. I would like to see more of that…. Hope you have a blessed day today!ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,

I absolutely love your blog. I do check it everyday but am not as faithful with my comments. I don’t know what I can suggest I want to see more of, it is all so beautiful. I think many of us would be just so delighted to receive one of your gorgeous cards. Maybe sometime you could do a blog candy that is just for a few of your cards, no other product. That would be an awesome candy!!!ReplyCancel

  • ~michelle~September 3, 2009 - 7:46 am

You said, “I wanted to do something a little bit different than my every day cards”… Those were your exact words… “every day cards” Are you kidding me???? Your “every day” cards are so wonderful!!!! I don’t think you could make a card that was anything but beautiful. :) Thank you for sharing and inspiring me to make great cards and showing me great ways to share my faith in God.

Another stunning card!! Becca, I love your dimensional ornaments like the one you did recently and also the one you did last year(?). I’m not sure what they are officially called but I believe they were paper cones that you hung on a metal centerpiece – it was so glorious! Thanks for the chance to win this super blogcandy and congrats on hitting 3.5 million views of your blog.ReplyCancel

Oh, Becca, I really enjoy your blog. Like so many others, i look forward to seeing what your new creation is. 3.5 mil! Amazing – but your work is so lovely and inspiring, its really not a surprise.

What I’d like to see more of would be unusual ways of combining Spellbinder cuts. You have such a creative touch. The card ‘ according to Pooh’ is so simple, yet again you used a spellbinder cut a bit differently.

It’s such a blessing to have you share your creativeness! Thank you!ReplyCancel

If I had to ask you to do something any different that what you already do…I need to make cards that I can put in the mail…so the fluffy bows don’t work. I want to know how to use markers that are less expensive. I love your work and see how beautiful it is but I can’t afford a $200+ set of markers at the moment. I’d like to see how to use Zig markers or other brands which aren’t quite as expensive as the Copic markers. Your work truly inspires me and I study it to become better at card making. I want my cards to reach of the hearts of those who do not know God.

Oh my, Becca, after I open my own little blog each day, I come to yours to see what fabulously creative thing you’ve come up with. I just told my husband as I was clicking on it this AM that you are such a (wonderful) enabler of all thing “Nestable” and that you’re the main reason I wish I had more spendable cash so I could own each & every Spellbinders die ever created & today’s post is no less supportive of that wish! Your mind works in the most incredible way; I envy it so! You are a gift to me each morning that I look forward to opening with my first cup of coffee. I don’t have any ODBD stamps yet, but really like them, so . . . one of these days! Thank you and keep your creativity flowing our way, please!!! As to gifting the winner with a couple of your cards, I’d feel truly blessed to have any one of them — I could NEVER pick a favorite; they all are!!!ReplyCancel

I am more than inspired by your works of creation and am spellbound bye the Spellbinders (no pun intended !!) which I have no clue how to use. Lol! Would love too though! I love your elegant touch with scalloped edges and pearls and lovely pps you use.

Kids and the fun kids bring in our lives, are always something that I like to bring out boldly in my kids birthday cards. So what about you? Do you have any bold and bright Kids cards up your sleeve? I would love to see more of your quick and simple cards like the set of four note cards you made with flowers and spellbinder labels on them. I have started purchasing as many spellbinder dies as I can afford and love to use them. I also would love to know the number of the copic markers when you use them. Thanks for the inspiration, Cathy WeberReplyCancel

Hi Becca, I’m visit daily for a “fix!” Your cards inspire me to go to the next level and I’ve bought products you’ve used. Having just said that, this may sound like a contradiction. I’m to the point where I want to use the supplies I already have. I’ve been convicted lately to watch my spending. The guilt isn’t in the buying; it’s in the not using what I already have. Maybe we could comment on products we have that we haven’t used, and if you also have the product, you could demo it with one of your beautiful cards. I very much enjoy your blog and hope to meet you someday. Blessings to you!ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca~

Congrats on all the hits – we love seeing your work. I love seeing the variety of work you do and particularly HOW you do some things – like tying bows (it doesn’t come easy for everyone), your dimensions to your cards (meaning layering and height), they all look so intricate with lots of layers, but still very dainty. :D

How you use your nestability dies, how you determine layouts – I like learning the “how to” behind it all.

Thanks for the chance to win!ReplyCancel

An idea, more with Cuttlebug or other companies items. While many now are using Copics, some of us don’t have the budget for them but can pay for a new folder now and then or better yet use what we already have like regular markers.

I am interested in how you deliver your cards. With these lovely, oversized bows, how do you keep them from getting squashed in an envelope? Or do you make boxes for them… hand-deliver without an envelope.. or do you (like others of us) keep them all for yourself and never have to worry about delivery?

3.5 million visitors to your blog! I’ve had 1,600 odd to my new blog and I’m delighted – you must be so proud. I love your creations but especially the ones with Bible verses on them. I loved the one you made recently with the picture of Jesus and the lovely verse “I am with you always”. They went perfectly together and your stamping was beautiful. I’d love to see more of these because they speak to me and inspire me.

Hello Becca, I check out your blog every day as I find you such an inspiration. Your use of Spellbinders dies is so different from anyone else. Your cards are so elegant & different. Like most other people I struggle with mens cards and I’d love it if you could pass on some inspiration for men’s cards please.
    Enjoy your weekend :)ReplyCancel

Oh Becca, where to begin? God has truly blessed you with so many things. He not only has given you such tremendous creative talent, but it seems he decided to also bless you with a kind, kind heart. And, what a blessing to all of us that you share that wonderful gift you were given. Everyday, I look forward seeing what amazing new creation you are sharing with all of us. I have never been disappointed. In the future, I would like to see you share step by step how your creative process flows. How do you decide which Spellbinders die you’re going to use and which one you’ll pair it up with. Do you choose your paper first or just have an idea in your head that dominates your plan? What sparks the beginning of a car? I realize that there are probably many different things, but please share any or all of them. Hope life continues to be good. JudiReplyCancel

Congrats Becca on your new big hit record. Your designs are absolutely gorgeous and I do get lots of ideas from you. Thank you for all you give.
I would like to see you design a set of cards using designer cardstock, that all of us would be able to do. Something simple like one sheet wonders. I especially love what you do with ribbon and Nesties and punches.
    You go girl!ReplyCancel

i love all of your creations! they just boggle the mind! but while i love looking at your cards with their bows, many layers and embellies, i would like to see some simpler cards by you. cards that are more mail friendly and don’t cost so much in extra postage or require putting in a box so it won’t get smooshed! i love to give folios with 4-6 cards as gifts and it isn’t kind to require my friends to attach extra postage before mailing, even if they DO know that it is necessary. so….that is my request!
thanks for the chance at some wonderful blog candy!

First, what a beautiful card. I love all of your AMAZING creations. I would love to see more tutorials. Possibly similar to the Pendant ornaments, or using Spellbinders dies and frames. Christmas is around the corner and I love to make friends and relatives things for Christmas and now is the time to get started on them. I also love anything you do with the JustRite stamps. Wow, you are also giving away two cards! I have always wanted a card you have made. Thank you for sharing and God bless!ReplyCancel

So very kind of you to offer up some candy! I always stop by, but don’t always have the time to comment. But I really love your stuff!! Now, what do I want to see? I would say the main thing that draws me to your blog is your innoventive ways of using the Spellbinders dies. Like using the tag for the tab on the pull out message! I don’t think I would have thought of that. So, I guess my answer would be more “out of the box” ideas.

I have been following your blog daily since the early spring and am in awe of your God given talent that you share with us. I love how you think outside the box with regards to the Spellbinders. It is fascinating to see what you create by simply mounting one on top of another or cutting them differently. I have now bought my first set of frames, but I am so basic with my creations. So perhaps you could show us how to do amazing cards which are more basic then build them up by gradually changing one element or another until we reach the stage of your magnifiscent creations.
Sorry I have prattled on, hope you understand what I mean. And the thought of owning one of these pieces of art of yours is mind blowing.

Hi Becca! As always, another beautiful card. I visit your blog daily to soak in some inspiration. Your cards are always so amazing. Your use of the Spellbinders dies causes a lot of “Wow!” moments for me. You’re a thinker. You look at your tools and see different ways to use them than just your typical way of using them. (I’ve always thought it would be interesting to be able to sit in the corner of your craft room, and watch your thought process in making a card start-to-finish, to see what you try, what works, what doesn’t etc.) Another thing that I really enjoyed was the day back in May that you did your Every Day Card Set, in the A2 size, with a lower profile for mailing. Yes, they were “simpler”, but still beautifully done. It’s nice when you make a set like that to give someone as a gift, that they wouldn’t have to worry about excessive postage when they mail them. Thanks for sharing your creative spirit with us. I truly appreciate it.ReplyCancel

Of all the card makers I follow, I love your work the best! So beautiful and elegant. Try as I may, mine never look as nice as yours. I’d like some christmas cards that can be sent through the mail without the extra postage. I realize that would take a lot of the bling out of them, but since I make most of my Christmas cards and most of them need to be mailed out, I would appreciate a pretty card that won’t require a hand stamp or mailed in a padded envelope. Thanks. You do such elegant work and I love the “Our Daily Bread Designs” stamps and Spellbinder dies. Now I need a tutorial on how to create a pocket card! Absolutely gorgous!ReplyCancel

I am here everyday looking at your astonishing work. I don’t leave a comment all the time now, as you have so very many to read. All the girls say exactly what I am thinking …….so I feel it has been said over and over.
This card today is another of your wonderful works with a new idea. I have no idea how you come up with these delicious ideas but I love each of them. I would love to see anything you feel like putting on the blog. I would love to know where you buy your wonderful ribbon ( is it a ribbon speciality store or a regular store? ) and to see anything you make with the Spellbinders and the Just Rite Stamps. Becca,

I love your blog, I am always amazed at your beautiful creations. You inspire me to get started on my own projects. I love the creative ways that you use Spellbinders, you are the reason I started my own Spellbinder collection. I don’t think you need to add or change anything on your blog, But keep up the beautiful Spellbinder creations. I am always thrilled when I see Amazing Paper Grace in my email and I can’t wait to see what you have done. The blog candy would be great, but to win one of your cards would make my day and if they aren’t sold I know the ones I would love to own.

one thing i would like to see, but i think it would be a pain, would be to break down the Spellbinders in your Amazing Labels. You have 225 or so entries. i have only begun my collection of those wonderful dies, and often scroll through your work to get an idea of what i want to use or how to use what i have. So, if you even broke it down to Nesties, Boardies, Impressies, etc, it would be easier to be more focused.

Also, I was wondering, do you make a box-o-lope for each card with “puffy” bow?

I already did an entry for the blog candy, but had another idea for things I’d like to see more of and don’t know how to edit my first post…so this is adding to the previous…:)

    Becca,

I’d really love to see more altered things/cards/projects that kids can make too. Crafts are a great”hands-on” way to teach following directions, and make concepts in language/math/reading have a life connection. I’m planning to have the kids make your ornament this fall. If this is not alright, just let me know :) Dies make it simpler for the kids to cut pieces that are uniform, and end products that get rave reviews really build their self-esteem. For some of those kiddos who struggle with academics, these things give them success and accomplishment that others recognize and value.ReplyCancel

I love visiting your blog and I love pretty much everything you make. Your creations are real works of art. That long tall item – that’s a CARD? You could frame it and hang it by your front door! What I’d like to see is mostly gift items and things you make with Spellbinders. Even your bows on your work look beautiful. I’m not so fond of the Magnolia stuff but maybe it will grow on me. Even so, you manage to make them look beautiful! Thanks for the chance to win!ReplyCancel

I have question for you and I would really appreciate an answer! I’ll be patient I promised! I know you are a VERY busy woman!

I wanted to ask if you have had problems cutting heavy card stock with your EK Success punches? I bought one and have not be able to use it on SU CS for example, is it mine, or are they all like that! This paper you used for this card, is it fairly heavy, medium or thin?

Thank you so VERY MUCH for your time and help with this!

You know what’s the coolest thing about the first of every month?  Our Daily Bread Designs has new images that we are allowed to share on that date!  Well, as the new month goes, I have a new card to share and can tell you a little bit about the new releases at Our Daily Bread Designs.   There are three new sets and you can see them HERE.  Kelley has been designing sets to accommodate all the occasions in our lives and here are some more to add to your collection for Get Well, Thinking of You and Friendship.

My card uses the Thinking of You set.  I find that so often I am sending a no occasion card, and well . . . this will sure fit the bill.  I simply layered Spellbinders Snowflake Frameabilities (I’m intrigued with the shape left over after cutting the small frame) and three Spellbinders Labels Four.  I made a small mat out a cream colored Labels Four by cutting diagonally and stretching the shape out a bit.  The final touch was that huge ribbon – yes, it is 3 inch wide ribbon.   All I can say is that I was just in that wide ribbon mood. :)

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Thinking of You
Paper:  The Paper Company, DCWV Rustic
Ink:  Colorbox Pigment –  Topaz
Accessories:  Spellbinders Snowflake Frameabilities, Spellbinders Labels Four, Gold Pearls, 3" Wide Ribbon, Clear Embossing Powder

Well, like the stamp says, God’s Blessings to you :)  Thanks for stopping by to see me, it sure warms my heart.
