Today I’m sharing another fabulous sentiment from Quietfire Design called Find Yourself a Cup.  I have to admit it, I love images and pretty things, but probably spend the most time searching for the words that go on the card.  It’s all about the words and hoping they will hit a home run with the recipient – why else would we stand in the card section for hours reading the insides of cards.  (That was in the days that we sent store bought cards, right?)  Sentiments used to be relegated to the inside of the card but I always thought that if you have something beautiful to say, flash it on the outside.  Most of the cards that I make are blank on the inside and I love having something thoughtful on the outside to grab your attention.

How about that fine line of gold leaf that follows the rim of the Spellbinders Petite Ovals Large paired with the Spellbinders Petite Ovals Small?  It’s my favorite element du jour!   Rather than describe how I put this together, there is a step by step tutorial on how I did this card HERE.

Just beautiful Becca, I leave my cards blank on the inside too. I write my note on the inside. So I agree that the message should really grab the persons interest. I have my coffee ready and I’m going to check out your tutorial. TFS!!!ReplyCancel

I wanted to share a little gift that I made using this sweet, sweet new Tilda.  She is from the new Pet and Animal Collection that is now in over at Magnolia-licious; this little cutie is #351 Tilda with Birdcage.  Diana just got a shipment of these in along with fall stamps and Christmas Stamps.

Believe it or not, I had the bird cage in anticipation of getting the stamp.  When I saw the sweet Tilda holding the birdcage, I knew it would make a special pair.

This is a tall card that is made to look like a tag because it accompanies a gift.  I used a Fiskars punch for the decorative edges and Tilda was cut from a Spellbinders Long Scalloped Rectangles Small and colored with Copic Markers.  Because I know you will ask (*wink) – the birdcage came from Michaels :)

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Magnolia – #351 Tilda with Birdcage
Paper:  Bazzill
Ink:  Black Tuxedo Memento
Accessories:  Spellbinders Long Scalloped Rectangles Small, Fiskars Border Punch (Lattice Entertain You), Button, Ribbon, Birdcage

Thanks for stopping by, I’ll be showing a quick and easy tutorial tomorrow.

I totally adore the new Peaches and Cherries stamp set from Flourishes!  OMG when I sat down to color it with Copics, I could see that the artist’s shading is magnificent!  This is one of the simplest cards I’ve done in a while.  Say, are you ever surprised that even the tiniest little things make your day?  Well, when I was coloring this, and oohing over the cherries a little light bulb went off in my head.  It seemed to me that I had just seen paper with cherries on it.  Woohoo . . . Graphic 45 to the rescue!!  This is another of the papers from the Fashionista line called Vintage Cherries.  Can you tell I’m in love with it?

It was pure serendipity to find matching paper, so I decided to make my stamped panel mimic the paper as closely as possible.  After picking a matching yellow and green, I stamped the cherries on white paper and cut them out.  Try as I may, my cutting of the stems just didn’t hack it so I whacked them off and stamped the cherries with stems on my yellow paper.  Then I colored the stems with my Copics and glued the rest of the image down.

I cut out the entire set of Cherries with Spellbinders Standard Circles Small and bordered it with black paper cut with Spellbinders Standard Circles Large.  For the curved banner I cut another Standard Circles Small and lopped off the top part – I made the interior curve with my SU Tab Punch.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Flourishes:  Peaches and Cherries
Paper:  Graphic45, The Paper Company, Bazzill
Ink:  Tuxedo Black Memento
Accessories:  Spellbinders Standard Circles Small, Spellbinders Standard Circles Large, Martha Stewart Border Punch, Corner Rounder, Bling, Copic Markers
