I’ve had this stamp set from Flourishes in my stash forever and when I saw this weeks Splitcoast Sketch Challenge #241, I knew that some way, some how I could work the set into a card.  And you know what, that sketch . . . me likey!   The set is called Coffee with Friends and after I stamped with it I truly wondered how this one missed my scrutiny.

So, here’s the sketch for you to look at.  My goodness, I’ve not done one of these in a while.  Somehow when I first looked at this, I thought the two vertical panels were the same size . . .arrrggh!  Oh well, next time I guess I’ll use my glasses.

I simply layered the sketch and decided to put a hole/frame in the top to give it a little bit of interest, dimension.  On my way home from Orlando I stopped in one of the Joann Etc stores and stocked up on all kinds of lace (yes!!)  This piece of lace was a light cream color, but after I hit it with the Antique Linen Distress Ink, it fits right in with the paper.  Speaking of the paper . . . this is my new love!  Graphic 45 was at CHA and I was so tickled to bring home one of their paper packets called Fashionista.  I promise you, I won’t waste an iota of it; I’m dreaming of the cards I’ll make.  To the sweet young lady who was so generous with the paper . . . thank you!!

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Flourishes – Coffee with Friends
Paper:  Graphic 45 – Tre Chic, The Paper Company
Ink:  Versafine Black Onyx, Antique Linen Distress Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders Long Rectangles, Large, Spellbinders Long Scalloped Rectangles, Large, Spellbinders Standard Circles Large, Spellbinders Doodle Parts, Lace from Joanns, Ribbon

Thanks for peeking in on me!

    Becca,

Now that is too adorable! Love that heat swirl above the cup!

Hey, I met Kelly of ODBD up her at a stamp convention. She was demonstrating something, but I introduced myself and told her I knew you via email. I bought a couple of her stamp sets, have many more on my wish list. She said that she finally got to meet you at CHA. Nice lady, her husband was running the cash register for her, he was very friendly too. Take care. Keep in touch when you can.

You are going to be so thrilled to see the new Christmas sets coming out for JustRite Stampers.  Mark your calendars for August 17th and listen out for details to the JustRite Christmas Blog Hop and you will get to see them all.  I have a little sneak peek of one of the sets for you.  The Old Fashioned Christmas set blends the charm of traditional Christmas icons with a little bit of whimsy.  Are you surprised to see a little bit of a different medallion?  For my card I created two bows and nestled the round motifs into the insides of the bows.

Sometimes I like to send a one of a kind Christmas card, indulge in the big bow and go all out stacking up several layers.  Although this card could go in an envelope, this one will get its own little box, just to keep everything perky.  And so my point is, in card making there are no rules.  Make it memorable!

The box is made from 120 lb white card stock.  I cut the dimensions of the card plus two inches on the width and two inches on the length.  After scoring 1" on each side I snipped each corner so that the sides would stand up.  I cut my paper slighyly bigger for the top.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  JustRite Old Fashioned Christmas Set
Paper:  K & Co., Bazzill, gold foil poster board
Ink:  Martha Stewart Leaf Bud, Versafine Black Onyx
Accessories:  Spellbinders Curved Rectangles (#5 & #6), Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circles Small (#5), Spellbinders Standard Circles Small (#5), Ribbon,  Tombow Markers, Gelly Roll Glaze Pen

Thanks for stopping by today, I’m really inspired by your kind words :)

I spoke to the Spellbinders people when I was shopping @ GASC Arlington in June. Told them how much I loved your samples for them. They responded that so did they & that you were a joy to work with — talent & humility bound up in the same person.

Pure genius! Thanks for sharing your creativity!ReplyCancel

So many of you have asked how I stored various things including my JustRite Stamp mounts, so I’ve managed to take a picture to show.  I purchased this container at Target for about $4.99.   It comes with the four tiers which I’ve found perfect to store all my JustRite mounts.

Each tier of the container snaps apart so that I can carry it to my work table.

I set aside one tier for round mounts, one for rectangular mounts and one for oval mounts.  The bottom tier is divided into two parts which I found to nicely store the smallest alphabets.

There’s not much to it and I love the portability.  Thanks so much for asking the question and I hope this helps.

    That’s a great solution, Becca!ReplyCancel

  • Susan GAugust 8, 2009 - 10:36 am

Thanks for sharing this. I had to find another storage solution because of lack of space for all the JR boxes and the only thing I could come up with was a plastic shoebox that holds all the mounts and stamps and alphabets. Everything is stacked in the same container, but it helps on space. I’ll have to check out Target for the box you showed. That might be even better for me.ReplyCancel

  • Ad K.August 8, 2009 - 3:19 pm

TFS, Becca. I have been looking for storage for my JR sets and mounts. This looks good and doesn’t take up a lot of space. I am out growing the drawer storage I have for these sets and these would keep everything handy. Love the card and box instructions and I’m excited to see the holiday releases.ReplyCancel

  • Regina NAugust 9, 2009 - 5:38 am

Becca thanks for the idea.I was wondering what you keep your just rite stamps in. What do you do with the boxes.ReplyCancel

  • MargotAugust 9, 2009 - 3:18 pm

These cases are SnapWare and are wonderful for a variety of uses. My college-age daughter has one of these with a sewing kit in one section, a first aid kit in another section, a very small tool section and I think the remaining area holds odds and ends (like 3M mounting hooks, etc.). She uses a square SnapCase for her hair stuff.
They work great for your mounts!ReplyCancel
