Greetings, I am back from CHA and wanted to share a sketch challenge that is going on at the Magnolia-licous Highlites site for August.     Be sure you hop over and see what the other DT members put up for the challenge and you can post your own there for a prize.  I used #254 Cross Stitch Tilda; you can see other cards using her HERE

It was my turn to design the sketch, so go easy on me, this was my first time coming up with a sketch – here it is:

I used a Martha Stewart circle cutter to cut the circles for the sketch – gotta love tools that make life easier.  I picked up mine at Michaels with a 50% off coupon.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Magnolia –
#254 Cross Stitch Tilda
Paper:  Making Memories Flower Patch, Bazzill
Ink:  Versafine Black Onyx and clear Embossing Powder
Accessories:  Ribbon, Prima, Pearls, Martha Stewart Circle Cutter, Copic Markers

As I get back into the swing of things, I’m hoping that August will be a catch up month for tutorials and such.  Stay tuned :)

ETA:  This card didn’t post at its scheduled time, but I still wanted to share the card with you :)

Has any one noticed that all of the Christmas supplies are already out at Hobby Lobby?  For crying out loud, I love Christmas and they are making me want to drop everything and start decorating hehe!!!   My poor family, they don’t know what to expect from me, but little do they know that my Christmas stuff may go up in October :)  Thanks goodness Magnolia is having a Christmas in July challenge over at the Magnolia-licious Highlites site, I posted this card.  This frame seemed the perfect place to perch for #311 Tilda in Winter Stockings and the frame is Spellbinders Poinsettia Frameabilities.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Magnolia – #311 Tilda in Winter Stockings
Paper:  Bazzill, The Paper Company
Ink:  Colorbox Chalk Ink – Dark Moss
Accessories:  Spellbinders Poinsettia Frameabilities, Martha Stewart Circle Cutter, Gold Half Pearls, Ribbon, Prima Flowers, Brad, Copics

I backed up the frame with a circle cut with a new tool I have – a Martha Stewart circle cutter.  It will cut a circle up to a 5.5" diameter.  I typically use Spellbinders for the smaller circles and found this tool to come in handy for the larger ones.  I would rarely do one over 6" in diameter, so this tool is hanging close by.  I have other circle cutters but can I say that I’m circle challenged?  For the  Poinsettia Frameabilities, I did the reverse stencil technique using chalk ink and came out with a fairly nice opaque coverage for a one color reverse of the frame.   Not familiar with reverse stencil?   I cover it in previous posts HERE.  Tilda is colored with Copics and yes, the new lighter colors are a dream; you can get them HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!

Never amazes me that each year the Christmas Decorations come out earlier and earlier! At some point I am sure we will see them year round! If we had a house big enough we could have a room for each holiday and just leave it decorated. Then whatever mood you were in, you could just go sit in that room!!
Your card is absolutely beautful for little miss magnolia!!ReplyCancel

Good evening, Becca- hope you had a good time in Florida – I am really envious. Your card is so pretty. I bought this MS circle cutter from Michaels when I was in Florida on holiday a couple of years ago and have never used it, so thank you for the inspiration and my renewed interest in this tool :)ReplyCancel

I have a new card to share using JustRite’s newly released limited edition, Witch Way To the Treats.   This set uses the 1 3/16 " mount and has 10 centers and borders.   I found with this set that you can basically keep stacking shapes to make the medallion as large as you like.  If you are using it for a small tag – then one or two layers is nice.  If you are using it for a card, why not add many more concentric layers to bring the size up for a larger focal point?   Better yet, using both scales you can create the card then the matching tag with the sizing on this set.

I used the following layers to make my focal point, working from the top to the bottom:
1 " EK Success Punch (JustRite Center)
Spellbinders Standard Circles Large #2 (JustRite Border)
Spellbinders Scalloped Circles Large #1
Spellbinders Standard Circles Large #3
Spellbinders Pinking Circles Large #3

I’ve put a number on the end of each die template to identify which of the templates I used out of the set as shown below.  With my die templates nested, I count from the smaller center to the larger outside templates.

I tied two ribbons together tacking the first one on top of the other with a little bit of glue runner then tied a bow and added a couple of bling for a simple card.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  JustRite – Witch Way to the Treats
Paper:  My Minds Eye, Bazzill
Ink:  Versafine Black Onyx
Accessories:  Spellbinders Standard Circles Large, Spellbinders Scalloped Circles Large,  Spellbinders Pinking Circles Large, Ribbon, Paper Shapers Photo Corner Scallop, 1" EK Success Punch

More to come, soon!

You are truly the bow queen. Really a cute card and your being the guest designer of JustRite made me look at them for more purchases. I was going to comment on Patricia’s reply but this isn’t the place. You know who you are and what you do and why. You make the best cards I’ve seen and I’m a true fan.
