I’ve got some things going on behind the scenes so my normally long post will be short and sweet today.  I’m sharing a card with you that I made out of an asian influence set that I’ve had in my stash for a while.

I’ve used Spellbinders Labels Two as a backdrop then cut two tiny windows using Spellbinders Classic Rectangles Large to give the background some interest.  I polished it off with a Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio.    Short and sweet, see I told ya!

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Komodo Inc.
Paper:  Memory Box – Sprout, Bazzill
Ink:  Versamagic
Accessories:  Spellbinders Labels Two, Spellbinders Classic Rectangles Large, Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio, Velvet Ribbon, Martha Stewart Lace Doily Edger

Have a blessed day, my friends!

Welcome to the first Magnolia-licious Blog Hop – Summer Notes.  Why is it called Summer Notes?  We’ve all made these adorable little Sticky Note Holders to celebrate the occasion.  For me, this is my first opportunity to join the Magnolia-licious Design Team and what a wonderful place to jump in!!    Now if you have come to me because you just left Cheryl Rowley, then you are in the right place.  If not, you can start the hop with Suzanne Dean at Scrapbitz and you’ll eventually get back to me!

I used #201 Tilda Sitting with Hair Bow.  Oh, the choices we have to make!!  I couldn’t decide how I wanted to color her – copics?  colored pencils?  reinkers?  So, I settled with Tombow markers and a nearly dry aquapainter.   I love the wide open spaces on these adorable creatures.  Once done I cut her out with an exacto knife.  She is perched on the edge of a medallion cut with Spellbinders Pinking Circles and Spellbinders Standard Circles.  The lattice work on the inside is done with a Lace’ template (retired).   I tied on a sweet silk ribbon and tiny pearls around the edges.  Don’t you want to make one?

This cute little Sticky Note Holder was shared courtesy of Brigett Owens, and you can find it HERE.   I kept it simple and stocked the gift box full of three extra refill post it pads for when the holder is empty.  Even with the three extra refills, the pad holder will fit inside as well!  There is an opportunity for you to make one and win three Magnolia stamps of your choice.  All you have to do is upload a link of your Sticky Note Holder to the Magnolia-licous Highlites Blog to be entered to win.

Okay, next stop on the way is Kerry Donovan-Casey at Three Clovers Design – wait until you see what Kerry has in store for you!!

Recipe:
Stamps:  Magnolia-licious –
#201 Sitting with Hair Bow

Ink:  Versafine – Onyx Black and Clear Embossing Powder
Accessories:
Spellbinders Pinking Circles Large, Spellbinders Standard Circles Large, Lace Template, Tombow Markers, Mays Art Silk Ribbon, Mays Art Satin Ribbon, Post it Notes,

Thanks for stopping by today, more to come soon!

Hi all, I’m back today with a non-card post but am sharing pictures and the answer to a question that I am asked quite frequently.  The question is how do I store my long nesties.  Some time ago I found some DVD cases that were perfect however they came with DVD’s in them.  Over time I was able to find a place to purchase them empty so I’ve bought quite a few and they serve several storage needs.  Now first of all this does not include my regular nesties.  In fact, if you check the Spellbinders site you will see that they have a storage solution for you to consider.  These cases are for all the oversized nesties that will not fit into a the Spellbinders case or say, a CD case.

Below is the DVD cases that I found:

For most DVD cases the insert is a molded part of the back however this particular brand is made with a removeable insert that comes out very easily.

So the result is a standard size case – in other words, not a slim case.

After lining the case with magnet that I found in the framing department at Hobby Lobby, here is how I store my Decorative Frame and Curved Rectangles

Here is how I store my Pierceabilities:

The usable space inside the case is 5″ wide by 7.5″ tall.  The overall size of the case is 5.75″ wide by 7.5″ tall.  Here is the closed case with labels applied on the front and spine.

I’ve also been storing my cling mounted sets in the same cases.

That’s it for storage for those long Nesties.  Thanks to all who submitted the question!!  By the way the DVD case is called the Super Jewel Box King DVD Case and you can get them HERE.  ETA:  This is a new vendor that I’ve switched to as of March 23, 2012.

Don’t forget that tomorrow is the first Magnolia-licous blog hop!!  I’m so excited – you can start the blog hop with Suzanne Dean at Scrapbitz and eventually you will come though here.  Hope to see you then!!

  • KraftyauntJune 5, 2009 - 5:15 am

Thanks Becca! I store my Nestabilities in DVD cases as well. I then put the individual cases in a rubbermaid-like container/plastic made by IRIS – the same folks who make the quality plastic scrapbooking storage carts. I bought the containers at BJ’s… these containers can be configured to hold all CDs or DVDs or a combination of both – they work great! And they are clear plastic so I just insert a small index card with a list of contents, on the inside…and I can see it clearly on the shelf when at my desk.ReplyCancel

Oh my gosh, what a great idea! Thanks for the link! I don’t have any of the long Nesties yet, but I do have a bunch of Cling mounted stamp sets that are in need of good storage! Thank you so much for posting this!

Good evening, Becca – I have quite a few of the larger nestabilities and at present have to keep them in their original packaging. However, since I keep my others in CD cases I must look out for these DVD cases on this side of The Pond :) Many thanksReplyCancel

Thanks for the suggestion. I found that magnetic register covers at Home Depot can be cut to any size. Right now I have all of my nesties on the long covers and plan to adhere these magnetic strips to the inside of built-in cabinet doors above my craft desk.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becc,
Love your cards and its the first site I go to everyday.
I put magnetic strips on cardboard that comes with my son’s books he gets each week and cut them to size and put them in a CD book case that zippers closed and it has a handle to carry it from so I can take it with me. I am able to fit my spellbinders, cuttlebug Folders plus dies, and even all but the Big sizzix dies it it. Plus it is a 3 ring so I can buy more pages as I need to and since they are nice and snug and on magnetics they don’t come lose.ReplyCancel

  • […] For the longer nested dies I use CD Cases – I covered them in another post HERE.  […]ReplyCancel

I’m so missing your cards, but hope you are getting better each day. thanks for posting this info. I just have started storing my Nesties in Cd cases and loving it, but as you said they don’t all fit. Since storage is such a big issue with me, I’m grateful that stamp companies are offering us un-mounted with cling already attached. I’m buying all my Stampin Up stamps that way and if they come with mounting I’m choosing to not mount. My friend is in the process of unmounting all of hers and I may get ambitious and do the same. Some of these stamps also need DVD cases instead of CD cases and we can’t buy them locally. The labeling will present another challenge as I’m not Excel literate. My son may help. Thanks again and take care.ReplyCancel
