I had a little bit of time today to stamp and made some every day cards to add to my collection.  So you ask what are everyday cards?  Well so many of our cards are gussied and blinged up and many of mine have big bows and are oversized.  For the most part I save oversized cards and big bow cards for boxed packages that I’m going to send – that way I don’t have to stress about making an envelope or smashing the bow.   So today my cards are regular A2 cards with low profiles that can fit into regular envies.

I’m using a Hero Arts set of four stamps with fabulous line art flowers.  I originally was working toward having all four flowers on one card but it was simply too crowded.  Instead, I decided to do a card for each stamped flower.    Other than a small stacked medallion these are pretty simple cards.  Each image is colored with Copic Markers.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Hero Arts – Blossoms, Hero Arts – Sentiments
Paper:  140 lb Strathmore Bristol, Basic Grey – Urban Prairie, Making Memories
Ink:  Memento – Tuxedo Black, Memento – Bamboo Leaves, Colorbox Chalk Ink – Rouge
Accessories:  Spellbinders Labels Three, Spellbinders Classic Squares Small, Spellbinders Classic Scallop Square Small, Spellbinders Standard Circles Small, Spellbinders Tags 5, White Inksentials Pen

Take care my friends and have a thoughtful  Memorial Day.

Do not take this wrong, because I’m such a huge fan of your work and eagerly wait to see the gorgeous creation you’ve made each day. But you know what? These a spectacular! Not ‘everyday’ in any negative way. They are lovely and made with some favorite old standby stamps that many of us still have. The layout is lovely and the colors are so fresh. I love this ‘everyday’ set. It is something even I could perhaps do. You’re the best!ReplyCancel

    Dear Becca,

I just love coming here :) Your cards are so elegant in a class of their own! That is the cutest idea the way you have a bow going through your buttons with a little tag attached, too cute!!!

If it weren’t for your amazing ways of using the Nesties I wouldn’t be buying so many of them – lol – not that I mind tho…. I have finally weakened and also ordered the Wizard Die Cutting Machine as a birthday present to myself. I think the impression will show more than the Cuttlebug does, can’t wait for it to arrive.

Thank you again for always sharing your beautiful cards with us :)

I love these cards, really everything you do! You said you made them regular A2 size, I guess I haven’t been that observant about the “size” of the cards and thought that most were that size. Could you tell the size of (other) cards, to have an inspirations to go big! Hi Becca, have been peeking at your blog for a while but have always felt intimidated by your talent…..your cards are always amazingly artful and beautiful and the recipient must truly be blessed when receiving one. But I thought I would leave a comment on your ‘every day cards’ – Still intimidating and amazing to me but not quite as much as your ‘blinged’ versions…..love how you coloured them in (I almost want to go out and buy a heap of copics – but cant afford it…lol). You are a true artist!

Just one question though…..you seem to always use the nesties on your cards – can I ask you what machine you use for them? So many lovely comments so mine may get lost :) best regards Tracy from AustraliaReplyCancel

I hope you’ll indulge me for one more patriotic card.  I have a few of these for my stash now so I suppose for the first time I’ll be sending out cards for July 4th.  It’s a simple card using Our Daily Bread Designs – In God We Trust and I was able to arrange the star and oval so that it has a kickstand effect to highlight the sentiment.

The stars were cut using Spellbinders Stars 5 out of glossy cardstock and the base oval using Spellbinders Petite Ovals Small.   I overstamped two of the stars with resist ink and using the flag from Our Daily Bread Designs God Bless America Set then brayered one with blue and one with red.  It’s hard to see but the resist creates a little bit of texture.  I then cut two ovals at the same time, off center, to create a place to stamp my sentiment.  I threaded a star through the oval and then put a small pop dot underneath my ribbon as a kickstand, so the star stands out – kinda fun!

TIP:  When you want to curve your sentiment using an unmounted rubber stamp on smart cushion, the stamping material is stiffer than that you find in clear stamps.  No worries!  Just put a piece of double sided tape on your clear acrylic mount and between the adhesive from the smart mount and the adhesive on the tape, your curved stamp will stay put.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – In God We Trust
Paper:  140lb Strathmore Watercolor, Bazzill, Glossy Cardstock
Ink:  SU Brocade Blue, SU Ruby Red, Ranger Resist Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders Stars, Petite  Ovals Small, Classic Ovals Small, Pearls, Ribbon

My daughters graduation went well!!  I hope you all have a memorable weekend and that whatever activities you have planned, they bring you closer to your family and loved ones.

Whew, I’m a night-owl by nature.  Life gets so busy running interference for my young adult children during the day that you can usually find me burning the midnight oil with my stamping projects.  That does not seem to be the case this month . . . I have so much I want to do but I can’t seem to stay awake to do it.   My baby girl is graduating from High School on Friday and I think this whole not being able to stay awake thing has something to do with immense relief from the stress of getting her through school this year *wink*.  It’s been a special week for us because we’ve been able to sashay here and there and have her out to lunch while the weather was magnificent!!!  Which leads me to my point – I’m digging in to the archive for something else to share with you – one of my very favorite Impression-Obsession stamps.  I shared this in the Fan Club back in January but I’m able to share it with the rest of you today.

This watercolored piece was mounted on a book with the intention that it will hang on the wall.  I adore books and unfortunately I have too many to keep so I continue to use them for recycled projects.  This book couldn’t leave my house because it has the gold gilded edges but that makes it perfect for this project. The image is colored with a combination of Tombow markers and Distress Ink Reinkers, while the sky was airbrushed in with the Copic Airbrush System using Marker B21.  The corners are crimped on using this tool and the corners can be found here.

To finish up I threaded wire edged ribbon through the spine of the book and tied a sturdy, permanent bow so that it be secure once I hang it.  I almost wished I could have found a thinner book but this one works out okay.  I hope it’s a idea you can put to use too if you have something too special to wrap up in a card but that you’d like to put on display!

Project Recipe:
Stamps:  Impression-Obsession
Paper:  140lb Strathmore Watercolor Paper
Ink:  Black Brilliance
Accessories:  Tombow Markers, Copic Airbrush System, Copic Marker B21, Ranger Distress Ink Reinkers, Aquapainter, Ribbon, Metal Corners

Blessings to you my friends!!  You are the most wonderful and as the sentiment says, you sure make my soul blossom!!

Becca, lots going on in your life.. many thanks for keeping this blog going.. you inspire us so much.
I want to thank you for using those older stamps.. generally all we see on the blogs are the newer images, but really, don’t we all have some of the oldies but goodies in our stash? And many of us are desperate for inspirations on how to use them! So, you GO!
Enjoy this time with your children.. it’s so special..and congratulations to your daughter on her graduation..
