Well, my sad story is that our internet is totally wonky.  It’s so frustrating that none of us have sat on our computers for the last couple of days.  Last Thursday we had an outage just as I was getting ready to make a post.  Once it came back up it would be up for a couple of minutes then out for who knows how long – arrgghh!!  I haven’t been able to do anything, work on my blog, read blogs, email . . . nothing – except for about two minutes every so often when it comes back up.  I typed this post off line then uploaded it at once – it took a while for the internet to be up long enough for me to get everything in place, but I did it.  I’ll be taking our internet modem back in to Comcast tomorrow so that I can rule that out – we’ve done troubleshooting on our end and everything here is okay hopefully they can find the cause.

Today, what I’m sharing with you is a project I had in my stash from the Dirty Dozen.  I do my grocery shopping for the week based on the menus we’re having, so when I get home I post a 3 x 5 card on the fridge showing what we’re having each day.  That seemed so primitive in these days where we alter and pretty up all the things we use in our every day life.  So after thinking of how I could mount a weekly menu listing, I went to the discount store and got this bamboo cutting board.  The two rings were a find in a scrapbook discount bin some where, some time ago.  Sorry I can’t be any more specific but had I not had them, I would have torn apart a notebook or something.  I mounted the rings, designed the menu pages and embellished it to match my kitchen.  The flowers were made with steel rule die cuts because I wanted to cut chipboard I had covered with design paper.  I don’t do that often, but in this case it save me all the cleanup work I normally do with sandpaper.  The finished project can hang on the wall or sit on the counter with the aid of an easel.  Best yet, when somebody yells "Hey Mom, what’s for dinner?", I just point.

Supplies:

Stamps:  Retired PSX, Days of the Week are computer generated
Paper:  The Paper Company – Denim, Kraft, K & Co. – Blue Awning
Ink:  Versamark, SU Night of Navy
Accessories:  Spellbinders Curved Rectangles, Sizzix  Daisies, Sizzix Flower Power, Sizzix Three Leaf Stem, Sizzix Charms Flowers #1, Sizzix Charms Flowers #2, Offray Ribbon, Babmoo Cutting Board, Pen

Thanks for stopping by!  Hopefully my internet will be feeling better soon.  In any case, I’ll find a way :)

I love this Becca! It is so pretty! I love the way you’re able to take something ordinary, and make of it, something extraordinary.

Every day when I sign on to the net, I immediately do the charity clicks, Hunger Site, Breast Cancer site, Child Health site, Literacy site, Rainforest site and Animal Rescue site and then head straight over to your blog to see what you’ve posted. Until I have done that, I don’t feel that the day has properly begun!

Much appreciation for adding the sparkle to my days :o)

I had a chance to talk to one of my very best girlfriends – we’ve been missing each other.  It’s amazing that when I worked I managed to see her more as well as have lunch and shopping outings.  We’ve been trying to get our schedules worked out so that we can have a nice, long, girlfriend lunch.  After I got off the phone with her a light bulb literally went off over my head as I thought of the new JustRite set called Girl Time.  It has the perfect girlfriend stamps and one of them says "Lets Do Lunch".   I sat down to make an invitation to mark the occasion!

Now you’ll look at this and all the detail and the layers and the embellishments and well….as stampers, isn’t the amount of stuff on a card commensurate with the likelihood that the recipient will keep it?  Okay, admit it . . .you know what I’m talking about, you don’t always load up those Prima Flowers and hardware and stick pins for your brother when you know he’s just going to throw the card away.  Well I know this is going to a stamping girl, who will marvel over each layer and the last place you’d ever find it was in the trash.  Enough said?

Card Supply List
JustRite Girl Time Set

Spellbinders Ric Rac Scallop Pierceability

JustRite Wood Stamper 2"
Spellbinders Standard Circles Small
JustRite Brayton Upper Case Font Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circles Small
Harmony  Rectangular Stamper Set Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circles Large
Versacolor Raspberry Ink Martha Stewart Zig Zag Border Punch
Brilliance Black Ink Martha Stewart Lace Doily Border Punch
It Takes Two – Theme Paper Eyelet, Ribbon, Magnetic Snap
Bazzill Cardstock Clear Embossing Powder

First of all let me tell you that the the only stamped portions of this invitation are the Let’s Do Lunch, the frilly border and on the inside the words Be My Guest, Date, Time, RSVP and Place.  I’m so cheating on this, the themed Scrapbook paper does all the work.  This piece had a border on the top and along the bottom and was done with one 12" x 12" page.  Here are the JustRite products that I used – I like to show the packaging so that you can see where each tool came from.

On a 13 ¾" x 6" strip of paper, from the top I measured down 4 ¼" and placed a score line, measured down an additional ¼" and scored another line, measured down an additional  6" and scored another line then measured down an additional ¼" for the final score line (there will be 3" left at the end of the strip).  That makes a trifold card that has a top flap that lays over a bottom flap.  On the top flap I created a medallion with two scalloped layers then two circle layers.  I stamped the JustRite border on one circle and popped it up then stamped the JustRite Center on the top circle.  On the inside of the card I set up the entire invitation using my Rectangle Stamper and the Brayton Font.  I trimmed the top with that neat bracket shape you get on the Ric Rac Scallop Pierceability.   I put an eyelet and ribbon at the top for a pull and I have a magnet hid under the layers in the flap so that the card will stay closed.

I was a sad puppy yesteday as I was without internet.  Well, today is another day!  Hey, Justrite Stampers is celebrating 300,000 hits so there’s some pretty awesome Blog Candy going on, so check it out HERE.
