It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC10).  Silke Ledlow is our challenge hostess this week. She is bringing us a fun challenge that I am sure will be one of your favorites!!!!  We are to use our favorite Flourishes stamp set!!!!  There are so many fabulous choices to choose from it will be a challenge just to choose.  However, never fear, if you do not yet own any Flourishes stamps, please choose your favorite stamp set of all time.  Also, check out the Flourishes Blog to find out how you can get some Flourishes Favorites stamps at a special price just for today!!!!

For this card I embossed vellum with white then colored the white embossing with chalks – I think it leaves the neatest look with the the white around the edges.  So that the chalk would "take" to the embossing, I sanded it lightly.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Flourishes – Birds and Vines, Flourishes – Mixed Greetings
Paper:  Pergamano Vellum, The Paper Company – Solar White – K & Co., – Madeline
Ink:  Versamark and White Embossing Powder, Black Memento
Accessories:  Ribbon, Martha Stewart Page Edgers, pearls, double decker button

You can hop around and see some fabulous flower cards made by the other Friends of Flourishes – the are:

Silke Ledlow

Cindy Haffner

Dee Jackson

Kimberly Crawford

Betty Wright

Thanks so much for looking in on me today!!

The new sets with Our Daily Bread Designs are simply dreamy. Three new sets were released on April 1st and they cover many occasions, meaning I see getting lots of use out of those sets!   I love this verse from First Corinthians and was tickled when Kelley decided to release it this month – the set is called Love.  My card actually falls into the category of "quick card".  Simple stamping, layering, cutting and you’re done – just when I needed something simple!

The second I saw the verses for this month’s release I knew I’d be using my Basic Grey – Porcelain.   Yes, it’s technically another hoard paper that I’m letting go of – I know you understand.  It’s been in my stash less than a month, aren’t you proud?  So for the card I cut a base out of watercolor paper and added the pink background paper from the same set.  Then I cut one panel from Spellbinders Curved Rectangles and one frame with Spellbinders Foliage Frame.  Before I mounted the frame I stamped the sentiment on clear acetate trimmed to the size of the opening.  After flower, pearls, branch punch and ribbon, I was done.

Tip:  I stamped on my acetate with Stazon black.  I like a rich, black, crisp images and find it’s hit or miss when stamping on the slick acetate.  Even with a newly reinked pad it’s not dark enough for me.  My remedy to this (and no one ever knows the difference)  I stamp my acetate images twice and mount them together.   Therefore if the ink on your image is uneven, it won’t be apparent when you combine the two images.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Love
Paper:  Basic Grey – Porcelain, 140lb Strathmore Watercolor Paper
Ink:  Black Stazon
Accessories:  Spellbinders Curved Rectangles, Spellbinders Foliage Frame, Martha Stewart Branch Punch, Prima Flower, Michaels Gold Rimmed Pearl, Martha Stewart Pearls, Clear Acetate

I’ll have more cards from these sets over the weeks to come.  Thank you so much for the compliments and kind, generous words you leave for me daily.  None of it goes to waste and frankly your encouragement is a bright spot in my day.   I just wanted you to know.

Becca… what a wonderful tip about double acetate, especially for words/verses! I think you can often “get away with” having a bit of unevenness in a stamped image, but an unevenly stamped word or phrase just looks sloppy. This is a keeper of a tip! (And the card is gorgeous, too!)

Becca, this card is so beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
You mentioned that in order to get a good crisp black image on the acetate you stamp it twice and mount them together. Have you considered using a stamp positioner? After stamping it once you could ink and stamp it again without moving the positioner. I have used that method when I sometimes stamp something and some of the lines didn’t print.ReplyCancel
