Oh my goodness, to start out, I should probably make a clarification!!

So many people protectively responded to my last post – perhaps thinking I was injured by the person who unsubscribed due to my too many posts.  Well there’s probably a little bit of truth in that but honestly it was more of my bizarre sense of humor than anything.  I chuckled when the unsub notice came across because I know better than anyone that I could post more!!   At any rate, I don’t take these things personally – there are a lot of subscribers out there and a normal day sees at least two or three unsubs but it is always pleasantly balanced out by two or three new subs!!  Here is the point that I was trying to make though…you readers are the most important element of my blog!  I never imagined I would have 1 reader, let alone the many that come back each day.  I want to make sure the content here is exciting and current.  I know that I can’t please everyone, but I am always open to hearing what you would like to see and I hope you would send me a note with that information, even if it’s on your way out.

Okay, now on to today’s card.  Flourishes has truly elegant stamps and sentiments for every occasion.  A dear, dear friend of mine lost her mother (second sad event this week) so again I wanted to come up with a handmade sympathy card to let her know that I was thinking of her and there was a perfect Flourishes set to fit the bill.

I had to fight a little bit not to make this as somber, but there is a fine line…I had topaz jewels on the flower that I switched out for pearls.  Don’t ask me why…the bling just didn’t feel right.  Anyways, the sentiment that so perfectly fit this situation is from the Flourishes Thinking of You Set.  The flower and leaves were constructed from Spellbinders Floral Accent  for the flower and Spellbinders Sunflower Set One for the leaves.  For texture and interest, before cutting the leaves I stamped them with Flourishes Damask Background!   The sentiment is stamped onto Spellbinders Tag 5 then I added satin ribbon for a little elegant flair and pearls to keep the same tone.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Flourishes; Damask Background, Thinking of You
Paper:  Bazzill, NRN Design Paper
Ink:  Peel Paint Distress Ink, Scattered Straw Distress Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders Floral Accents, Spellbinders Sunflower Set One, Spellbinders Tags 5, Ribbon, Pearls

I know what you mean about the bling on a sympathy card. When I see bling I think of excitement, joy, parties, etc. Pearls on the other hand are quiet elegance – soft, demure. I think they were the perfect choice. Your card, as usual, is beautiful.ReplyCancel

Your sympathy card is so beautiful. I am sure that your friend and their family will appreciate it. I love it’s elegance and thoughtfulness.

I’m betting that if you changed the sentiment and used some different colors this would also make a smashing birthday or Mother’s day card!

Would you consider showing us a step by step tutorial on how you made this one?

Hi Becca, Your sympathy card is outstanding as usual….but you have already heard that 57 times. I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate how easy you have made it to leave a comment on your blog. The comments are already numbered so we don’t have to fiddle around trying to figure that out when entering for blog candy. We don’t have to turn our computer monitors sideways and upside down trying to figure out some silly number and letter code that often appears to be in a foreign language, and smeared with Vaseline with lines running through it. lol…. And we don’t have to choose between five or six different choices of ways to leave a comment….. And, our comments show up right away!! I love it!! Thanks!! LindaReplyCancel

I know that you don’t want this point belaboured, but I must disagree STRONGLY with you! Your cards should be completely about what you want to explore and do. And WE should just be incredibly thankful for whatever that is! Further, we should be appreciative of any postings – and I am certain that almost everyone is.

You could never post too many for me, but I have much gratitude for every posting – frequency is irrelevant. It is your life – to enjoy, explore, savour and find BALANCE in.

And, while I truly don’t want to offend any other bloggers (I appreciate the efforts of everyone that I subscribe to or visit) yours is my favourite blog (one other does come close). You are amazing!!!

It’s so beautiful, so absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing your lovely art with us Becca!ReplyCancel

My card today uses the sentiment from another of the newly released sets from Our Daily Bread Designs called He Is Risen.   I pulled the beautiful filigree crosses from this set.  The crosses are mounted on deckled edged cuts from Spellbinders Small Deckled Rectangles and they fit perfectly on Spellbinders Classic Rectangles, Large.  Each cross is smudged with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and embellished with a single crystal.  To balance off the upper cross trio I cut one Spellbinders Label Four Die,  outlining the inner rim with a fine line marker and smudging with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.  Pretty simple to put together and of course the scripture is a beautiful one.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs; He is Risen, Cross of Christ
Paper:  Prima, Bazzill
Ink:  Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders Label Four Die, Spellbinders Small Deckled Rectangles, Spellbinders Classic Rectangles Large, Satin Ribbon, Crystals, Martha Stewart Edge Punch

A special thank you for my readers who are always so sweet!  There is much to come so I encourage you to continue to visit each day.  I did lose a reader today because I post too much – I always, always welcome your individual comments if there is something you feel I can do better.

    Hello!

I love your website and the creative artwork you do with your cardmaking. I get your regular updates and always enjoy receiving them.

I have been looking on Our Daily Bread Designs for the stamp set that features the stamp for the card you have on your blog today which you listed as “I am the Way” but have not been able to find it. Is that the name of the stamp set? Or just the beginning of the verse on the stamp? Thank you for your help.

    Becca,
A while back I started right at the beginning of your archives and I am slowly getting through them and enjoying all of them, learning much. I have notes alllllllll over my desk. I have started making a list of all your tutorials/videos and the dates. My suggestion is would you make a list on your sidebar of all your tutorials and videos so that when we click on the one we need we can find it right away???? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for alllllllllll that you have done. Your cards are always beautiful. I get dizzy just trying to remember some of them so I can go down to my “studio” and use some of your ideas.
