Hi sweet friends!  Two little news notes I thought I’d share with you today.  This may be the shortest post I’ve ever written but there’s a first time for everything right?  By the way, I have been designing behind the scenes and have some surprises lined up this fall.

News Note 1:  I’m so tickled to say that the Grand Cabinet from the 3D Vignettes Collection is back in stock at Spellbinders today.  This die continues to sell out and there are limited quantities available.  If you’ve been waiting for it, fly little bird.  Grab it quick —– HERE.

News Note 2:  The Creative Team and I are having a blog hop tomorrow 8/15/18 to show you a new collection.  It’s a “Charming” one and will put gift giving right at the top of your list :)  Join us at 9:00 am Central time.  Oh and as always, prizes!!post-header-bottom

P.S.  If you have been following me lately (yes, although I’ve been quite silent).  My French is coming along.  I’ve had a lot of car time and I listen to it every moment I’m in the car.  It should almost be a crime how excited I am about this.  I guess I love to learn :-)

How to make a Shaped Card by Becca Feeken using Amazing Paper Grace Dies by Spellbinders - Flourished Square and Hemstitch Circles - see full post and supplies at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=34084
Good morning sweet friends!  I’ve been tinkering with the dies from the Romancing the Swirl Collection, so I reached for the lovely Flourished Square to make a shaped card and embellished it using Hemstitch Circles.   If you are new here and wonder how to do that, I used the hinged technique outlined in this video —->HERE to get the front and back of the card.   Basically, you cut two pieces – one with a hinge and glue together at the hinge.  It’s so pretty to see the filigree through the front and the back.  On this one, I didn’t want an aperture in the center because I wanted to be able to stamp my sentiment there.   I’m using another new sentiment from Quietfire Design called Without Music.

Shaped Card Ensemble

I thought it would be cute to create an ensemble box to go along with the card.  I simply cut an extra diecut from Flourished Square and made a score line from the corner point of the interior solid piece to the adjacent corner point and snipped diagonally through the corner.  Then I made a lid (1-1/8″ deep) the size of scoreline square (2-3/4″).  I draped my scored and cut die over the box top and glued it down!

Our church has such a wonderful musical group and without a doubt they are led by the Holy Spirit as you can just feel the room being filled with His presence. How to do Shadow Layering by Becca Feeken using Amazing Paper Grace Dies by Spellbinders - A2 Swirl Background, Swirl Tag - see full post and supplies at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=34078
Good morning sweet friends!  I’ve been traveling again and this morning I am getting ready to take to the road that takes me home.  All good things!!  Before I left, I had a chance to sit down and make a card – I feel more of those days ahead.  This is my first time using A2 Background Swirl die from the  Romancing the Swirl Collection and I just love it.  When you pair it up with a shadow layer of gold behind your colored die cut, the Shadow Layering just sets it off. I’m using a new sentiment from Quietfire Design that is sweet and true –  Kites Rise Highest.  The sentiment is set on Swirl Tags.

Shadow Layering

Curious about shadow layering?  It’s easy.  All you do is cut two of any die you want to shadow layer.  Place your focal die cut on top and adhere by using dots, here and there, of Ranger Glossy Accents on the back.  You simply lay your focal die cut on top of the shadow die cut.  If you work quickly, even after you have all the glossy accents down, you’ll have a moment to move things around.  Offset the shadow layer slightly from the focal die cut – but not too much.  Your offset should be left to right and you can also offset a little from top to bottom.  That’s all there is to shadow layering.  Think about the possibilities…it functions as a color accent, to add a glimmer with metallic sheets or just to add a little bit of shadow for depth!

Okay, just a personal tidbit.  Recently I fell headlong into Amazon and signed up for Audible Books and purchased several.  I have a long drive head and today I’ll be listening to Shauna Niequest – Present over Perfect.  I purchased the hardcover book some time ago and not surprisingly haven’t had a chance to read it yet so I’m looking forward to checking this off my list.  Since I’m stuck in the car – I’ll have to think about what I’m hearing.  Oh, and after Present Over Perfect, I’m going to learn French with an audible book.  So if you’re driving and you look over and see an animated lady mouthing Bon jour – that’s me, lol!   :-)
