Good morning friends!  Popping in to share some news this morning :

Introducing Amazing Paper Grace – 3D Vignettes – Blog Hop Starts
February 7, 2018
9:00 am Central Time

Yes, we are finally able to introduce 3D Vignettes!!  We’ve worked on an array of cards to show you how that collection works, how the pieces work together and how they can be used alone.  Over the next several weeks we will pour our creativity into some unique projects and hope to keep you inspired.  So please pop in tomorrow!

In the interim, this is a quick card pulled together that uses three elements in a row using Hanna Elise Layering Frame.  It’s a long card designed to go into a business envelope.  I don’t know why I rarely do this size card, because once I do, I find I’m smitten with the size.  It works tall and it works wide and this time I’ve repeated the elements across.  I’ve learned that repeats are easy on the eye as well as using an odd number of element.  So easy!!

I did this by creating a card base that is 8-1/2″ wide and 4″ tall.  It was easy to create a panel roughly 1/4″ smaller on all sides.  I took Hannah Elise Layering Frame and wrapped it around that panel on the top and bottom and spread them evenly with the center on top.  A bow and banner for the sentiment finish the card.  As you can see I took that thought and produced it in three colors ways.  I love the way it looks with all the different colors.

Good morning friends!  Yes, I have a card today showing how to turn a rectangle to square, but first I wanted to let you all know what it means to me to have your friendly voices to turn to each day that I post. I hope I’m encouraging you to create but more than anything I adore the friendships and sweet words of understanding that flow in each day. It gives me energy. And even for those who don’t type a comment, I feel you. I feel your approval, I feel your kindness, I feel your kinship, I feel you lifting me up. I only hope that I give back as much of the kindness and caring as I receive here.

That leads me to an inspirational card I want to share today. I know you all love it when I pull out dies you already have.  It’s been a while since I touched the Graceful Frame Maker so I was excited to get it out.  If you are new to the blog and haven’t seen how this die works, I have a video —–>  HERE.  This die takes a panel of paper and miters it into four identical pieces.  To me this is like a wildcard die, because you can create so many unexpected things with it.  Today the end result is that I’m taking the Bella Rose Lattice Layering Die and turning its rectangle shape into a square.  I’ll embellish it using the new Hemstitch Ovals Die and Cinch and Go Flowers III Dies.

Changing from Rectangle to Square

I cut two of the Bella Rose Lattice Layering Die and then cut the template in half.

I used the Graceful Frame Maker  to miter those two pieces at and the same time and did that twice to get four pieces.

The four pieces are reassembled by taping them together along the back with scotch tape.

Voila, instant new background that goes from rectangle to square card in a heartbeat.

Making the Card

  1. Start with a 6″x 6″card base.
  2. Layer your new background on top of a 5-5/8″ x 5-5/8″ with doubly stacked foam tape onto a tan panel matted with cream.
  3. Cut two layers from Hemstitch Ovals – a cream one with no aperture (bottom) and a tan one with an open aperture (top).
  4. Create the next layer with the two Hemstitch Ovals Die layers adhered together with doubly stacked foam tape.
  5. Adhere to base with doubly stacked foam tape.
  6. Embellish with clusters of Cinch and Go III Flowers and a bow glued into place.

Judy Hayes for www.amazingpapergrace.com
Hi there friends, I’m back from my journey.  On my last post here (which incidentally was right before leaving for AFCI – Association for Creative Industries), I mentioned that I would begin sharing picture of 3D Vignettes with 12 Days of Inspiration.  Little did I know that the demoing and walking and hustle/bustle schedule of that event would absolutely wear me out.  In the early days, many of you said you didn’t know how I could create so much.  Well the back story to that is that I stayed up all night and rarely slept.  Fast forward 9 years and this old gal shuts down late at night – the will is there but the energy says tomorrow.  No worries, we have a lot of catching up to do.

In the meantime,  I have a lot to share today – an announcement – a new creative team member with a project  and new inspiration from the creative team.  Without further ado, let me introduce our newest Creative Team Member, Judy Hayes, who is sharing her first project above.

Judy Hayes for www.amazingpapergrace.com
Judy is one of those people who inspects a die up and down, looking for it’s strengths and hidden beauty, then she transforms it into something so unexpected and delightfully unique.   Her projects are magnificent and include the gamut from cards to off the page items using ordinary dies, papers and tools.  She inspires us all to think outside the box as we marvel over where she gets her ideas.  Just last week a group was squealing while looking at one of her projects – a 3d house where she had used photo corners for the shingles on the roof.  I just shook my head and said, that’s Judy!!  I’m so tickled about the announcement – here’s a little bit about her!

A New Announcement - APG Creative Team Member - Judy Hayes

I’m Judy Hayes.  My husband and I live on the prairie of rural southwestern Minnesota where I’m often inspired by nature and the peace, quiet and beauty of the surrounding countryside.  I love spending time with my 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren!  I have been crafting forever, it seems!  From sewing and needlework to paper crafting and jewelry making, soldering and metal embossing, book making and even woodcrafts, I’ve tried them all.  Thanks to my mom for her creativity with sewing and always being able to see possibilities in any piece of fabric.  If I saw a shirt or skirt that I liked, she could always figure out how to sew it!  From that, I learned to try to make things for myself!  I really enjoy mixed media projects, especially when I can include metal or fabric and textiles.  My greatest joy comes from stretching the limits of tools and basic supplies to create something unique and out of the ordinary!

I am tremendously honored to be on Becca’s Creative Team! She is an amazing designer and very special person!   I was blessed to get to know her while I was on the Spellbinders Design Team (along with Teresa).  So grateful for this opportunity!

For Judy’s card today, here’s how she described putting it together.  This is a 4 x 5″ canvas painted with chalk paint.  The verse (Penny Black) is stamped and clear embossed on tissue paper and layered into the wet paint. I used Cinch and Go Flowers, Annabelle’s Trousseau Layering Frame (cut to fit canvas), and Vintage Elegance Tiny Tags.  Pearl cotton threaded through the frame is accented with tiny pearls.  I colored the tiny flowers with markers.  Two tiny tags at edge hide cut in frame (tags were cut to fit as well).

But that’s not all; there’s more inspiration to share.  The Creative Team has been busy with Amazing Paper Grace Dies!!

    Hi, Becca,
Can I ever relate to challenges with having enough time! I have been on some deadlines lately and “burning the midnight oil” to get projects done. My body tells me loud and clear that this is NOT okay.

I can tell Judy is going to be a great addition to your team. This card is so gorgeous – I love the color, the weaving of the thread through the frame and use of the Vintage Elegance tiny tags, which made such great accents.

I get so excited when I see Amazing Grace Post come up, your cards and ideas are absolutely beautiful. I love all the Designers, and have no favourites. Welcome Judy to a fabulous team.
Becca, look after yourself, don’t try to do too many things at the same time, space them out a bit, your followers appreciate so much what goes into your work, and we don’t want to see you burn out. We are happy to wait. I know it’s not just the posts that are on your to-do lists but all the shows etc, and family too that vie for your time
    Take care. XX JanReplyCancel

Welcome Judy, you live in a world that sounds like a slice of Heaven. Becca, so glad to hear from you again, it’s been a little while and really that’s a good thing, it means you are getting to do a little more traveling and that is always fun. I don’t always write but I always enjoy your blog and all the inspiration that goes along with it. Many happy trails my friend. God bless…Denice with a “c”ReplyCancel
