Hi there sweet friends!  I have new card to share today with dies I’ve not used before.  Sometimes I make a deliberate attempt to use a die contrary to what your intuition tells you to do.  Those seems to be the cards to which a reader or two may say, ‘how unique’ or ‘that’s interesting’, but they are also the cards that are closest to my heart.   It’s all good, it comes with the territory and sometimes, just sometimes, it really is kind of cool and different at the same time. Last week I was playing with a die cut pocket – this one is very similar to those I introduced in 2012 – I’m seeing them everywhere now, they are quite popular.  Most of the time I used them right side up as they should be but I wanted to find an unconventional way to use the Rouge Royale Deux pocket and I did – upside down.  I used two of the pockets together to create a topper – they are joined by the flap on the bottom as I do with the hinge method I use to make shaped cards or to make a 5 x 7 card base.  For the card base I used Water Lilies Decorative Elements.  It would be remiss of me not to float out a little reminder of  the card making holiday that is nearly upon us :-)  After thinking about it a testing a little poinsettia held on the bow, I think card could actually stand in for a Christmas card – it only needs some holly, berries or bells hanging  for that Christmas flavor :-)

Here is an upright version – the size is 4-1/4″ x 6-1/4″.

Both of these dies are fun on their own, but together, I think they are kind of special.  Here is what they look like when cut.  If you notice the die on the left hand side has a flower and there is a line cut almost totally around the top edge of the flower.  I took that flower and hooked it on the edge of the filigree on the pocket – then passed a ribbon through the same slit :-)  Pure serendipity!!

As it turns out, this card is identical on the front and on the back and my ribbon slipped in to all the slits like it was meant to be!! It is one piece of ribbon that goes from the left to the right plassing through the slit and up over the top of the card and then down through the next slit.   I finished the inside with the Water Lilies dies – I use 4 of those die cuts all together – they are glued back to back with the same dies that show on the front.

The tiny little tag from Graceful Tags has matching sentiments that all fit into that tinyness – I decided to use that because I couldn’t bear to cover up the detail on the front :-)

Because of the slit created on the edge of the flowers, it’s oh, so, easy to simply insert a sheet of paper to write a menu, place a picture or write a sentiment on.

Hi Becca, I can’t believe how good you are with design. It just floors me and to think you are so generous to share your ideas and hold nothing back. Yes, I have all the dies used for YOUR card today but never would have been able to come up with something so uncomplicated and beautiful. As soon as I clear the remains of flower makings for birthday cards from my studio, I will make a prototype of your creation. Thanks so much for pulling dies from the past. It eases my conscience of having bought them all but let them sit idle. My Christmas cards are done for this year but your idea may be the basis for next year. Many, many thanks, BarbaraReplyCancel

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire - Perhaps they are Stars, Spellbinders Marcheline Plume and Spellbinders Nouille Decorative Elements - fully supply list and links at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=32418
Well hello there sweet friends!  I’m here to share a card and of course there is more inspiration from the creative team.  There’s a story behind my card — as is often the case I knew exactly what I was going to make – the card had been planned and planned and rethought and adjusted and tested and much thought had gone into it.  Then something funny happened.  Perhaps you remember the Reeses Peanut Butter commercial where two random things collide that are not meant to go together but they go together brilliantly?  Well when we’re creating, aren’t we the lucky ones when that happens.  I was planning to use Marchline Plume and Francesca Label  paired it with some wonderful things and as I was cleaning up my area, I laid it on top of Nouille Decorative Element.  It’s a lovely frame and I haven’t had a chance to use it yet – when I looked at the combination, I thought — those two are meant to be beautiful together. :-)   I laid everything I had planned aside and jumped on this new adventure.

I thought it was an apt lesson for the day.  Good things are around every corner – let them fall together randomly and then marvel at the unexpected.  I was so lucky to have some blessings come together this weekend in the way of a sweet friend and a path where previously I was stuck.  I must remember – in due time it all comes together, so delightfully.  I hope you are in a good place, having a good day!!

Here’s More Inspiration!!

I love it when I catch a glimpse of what the Creative Team has been working on and I love hearing their feedback on the ease or highlights of each die.  Since we’re posting inspiration every week, they try to show the dies used in a way they haven’t been used before.  That leads to the first card on the list . . .

KristiSchurr using Bella Claire Border for www.amazingpapergrace.com

KristiSchurr using Bella Claire Border for www.amazingpapergrace.com

Kristi Schurr (above) did quite the number using the Bella Claire Border.  Somehow this just feels right!  What a statement to give your card by mirroring the border to create a background.  She topped it off by coordinating a place to put her sentiment using Giving Occasions.  Can’t you just see this for an anniversary card?

Teresa Horner using Braided Grace for www.amazingpapergrace.com
Teresa Horner (above) is a master at layering.  She created a crisp card with a focal point built on Braided Grace.  Since she used the shadow part of the die, it gives the background contrast and sets the stage. She then she takes Isadora Trinkets  and mirrors the motif to create a background! Unless you knew what the die looked like, you would think it was a larger die but she masks off her overlapping by topping everything off with Francesca Label .  They all go together so well!!

Melissa Bove using Isadora Trinkets for www.amazingpapergrace.com
Melissa Bove using Isadora Trinkets for www.amazingpapergrace.com

Melissa Bove (above) has a romantic style that called Isadora Trinkets to task.  She used the pieces of the set to border her card at the top and bottom and then used the largest motif as part of her center focus.  The way she arranged everything sure draws your eye into the center of a very pretty card!
Joanna Krogulec using Isabella Frame for www.amazingpapergrace.com

Joanna Krogulec using Isabella Frame for www.amazingpapergrace.com
Joanna Krogulec (above) created a shaped card using Isabella Frame and shows you how delicate the inside is.  She uses pattern paper on most of her designs and it gives such a unique feel to her cards. For this one she embellished with flowers from Isadora Trinkets  and added on a tiny sentiment tag from Graceful Tags  If you have not tried a card like this, you must – it’s really a treat to give something with such a beautiful inside!!

Anita Kejriwal using ??? for www.amazingpapergrace.com

Anita Kejriwal (above) created this beauty with her amazing flowers, the colors are ethereal!  She is a master at combining flowers so I’ll deconstruct what she used here – the small blue flowers are part of Isadora Trinkets and the large lavender flowers are Cinch and Go Flowers I.  Her background is a lovely frame created using  Hemstitch Rectangles and her sentiments that she pulled from the Graceful Tags set with stamps are sweetly placed on Decorative Swallowtail Tags.  So much to see here all anchored by those pastel floral beauties!!

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Hemstitch Rectangles and Cinch and Go Flowers II - see full supply list at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=32374
Sweet friends, we’re back for more weekly inspiration.  Flowers seem to be the embellishment of the day, so we gave in.  All of us are happily playing around with Venise Lace dies and today I created a card using Hemstitch Rectangles and Cinch and Go Flowers II.  The Hemstitch die is quickly become my go shape and the flowers are so easy to make – these flowers all use 1 petal shape – the largest,  that I burnished and separated the paper layers to make it seem fluffy.  I embellished the edges of my rectangles with a flourish from Spellbinders Imperial Squares. My sentiment is stamped on the banner in Decorative Swallowtail Tags.

Joanna Krogulec for www.amazingpapergrace.com

Joanna Krogulec (above)  used Emmeline Treillage to create a beautiful floral backdrop.  She layered the lace die on top of the ‘shadow’ die to create a perfectly matched and shaped Birthday Card.  She fashioned a bouquet from Cinch and Go Flowers I and a petite tag from Graceful Tags peeks out from underneath all the beauty.

Melissa Bove for www.amazingpapergrace.comMelissa Bove for www.amazingpapergrace.com
Melissa Bove (above) brought so many shabby nuances into this card, it’s really a delight to look over.  From the weathered background that peeks out behind Emmeline Treillage or the patterned leaves and flowers from Cinch and Go Flowers II – there are so many details to take in.  She made her card on a base of Hemstitch Rectangles, even the tiny tag!

Each project is absolutely beautiful and I love Becca”s new collection. I purchased her last collection from Create and Craft in a bundle and find myself wishing this new collection was available in a bundle somewhere. Maybe Spellbinders ccould put together a bundle?ReplyCancel

Love the teams creations – you all do such beautiful work! I really appreciate the emails I get from Amazing Paper Grace and look forward to them. My summer craft shows begin next week – I’ve been very busy creating a variety of one of a kinds with the die cuts I’ve accumulated – I put them all on my website under Special cards for Special occasions and special people – with and without messages (there are two categories of them for a total of more than 90! Thanks to you Becca – my husband thinks they are beautiful and I am an artist! Hugs the kardladyReplyCancel

What a stunner, Becca! I love the hemstitch die! I’ve just washed my grandmother’s white cotton tablecloth which has a hemstitch border and I was reminiscing :o)
Thanks for all the lovely offerings from the team too.

Hi Becca, I thought I’d let you know how much I enjoy the inspirations from you and your newly assembled team. It provides so many more ideas to apply to your new dies which are wonderful. Inspiration is a term I use loosely. Copy is more accurate but why reinvent the wheel when the design experts are so accomplished. Spellbinders site has improved so much. Now it is easy to get your dies as soon as they are available. Please continue with what you are doing. Your ideas bring me so much pleasure. Thank you, BarbaraReplyCancel
